Jessica leaned back in her chair, the floating illusionary 'camera feeds' mapped out in the air. "Show me the over map again."
One of the displays flickered and enlarged.
Doe Park.
Four large subterranean complexes, each following a theme.
Safe Harbor, a mixture of lakes, oceans, pools, rivers, and some such. Some trickery going on to not require actual oceans worth of water being supplied, but good enough to fool visitors. Some areas for swimming, for fishing, for racing boats and other impossible things.
Fleeless Market, a massive bazaar of shops and tent stalls, with small buildings scattered within the mess. Already, some of the over eager shopkeepers that she had reached out to had managed to begin shipping their goods and equipment over and were eagerly taking advantage of the iron security staff as helping hands to begin setting up shop.
The complex for Doe's Dough has been renamed 'Distracting District', and now housed a theater, a couple of dance clubs with different themes, a skate park, connections to the massive paintball war grounds, some restaurants, and a god damned carnival.
Because somehow John had managed to contact a Carnival company and convince them to set up down there long term. Because that was something you could apparently do.
They were still busy setting stuff up with her little brother as he warped the area and facilities to better accommodate any needs, decorations, or equipment modifications required… And thanks to the bullshit spell over Sunnydale, the entire carnival crew just took all this impossible stuff in stride.
…That might actually explain why the new store owners so easily accepted an army of nearly nude iron security agents without freaking out, actually.
Anyway, the Distracting District was growing fast and there was no point in reviewing it more until John got done setting it up and could free up some time to meet up with her to have the 'future plan' discussion.
Relaxing Retreat at least was mostly done. Aside from the apartments and the employee housing below that, the vast majority of the space was dedicated to passive displays. Gardens and groves and mountains and valleys and walking routes and hiking trails and some such.
At least that side of the park was 'Set it and forget it', basically.
The issue was the secondary layer, the Underpark.
Jessica gestured and the map lifted up and drastically expanded below, showing the new constructions.
Adult themed variants of the places above.
Sure, the BDSM community that had basically migrated into Doe Park were thrilled to have an entire Adult District available to them, with a young boy happy and willing to take their needs and just spawn them into existence without cost or delay.
And yes, the further suggestions made by the more sexual members of the Security Staff had meshed amazingly well with the general theme of the entire region…
But her little brother just didn't seem to understand limits, or confusing things like 'reason' or 'logic' sometimes.
So when one of the more enthusiastic of the ladies of the night requested a tentacle park, John didn't ask 'Why' but 'How many', and so on and so forth and…
Point is, the Underpark would NOT be advertised.
If you knew it, or knew people who know of it, you could gain access to the massive underground complex through the many connected portal doors guarded by seductive immortal metal goddesses.
Otherwise?
It didn't exist, there isn't another sexy army of metallic warriors hidden underground in a location that was turning into the Disney World of Porn, don't be silly, go buy a hotdog and leave us alone.
As it was, just submitting the paperwork for some of the new facilities opening up in the Underpark made Jessica blush like a tomato.
Thankfully, the terrifying Mayor and his people seemed eager and happy to just rubber stamp all sorts of things, so she hadn't been forced to look someone in the eye and defend the many sex shops and entertainment areas now under her wholesome and family friendly park experience.
Which was good, because a LOT of stuff was legal in this town and state. A whole TON of activities, horrific and shocking and intriguing stuff.
Thankfully John easily enough agreed to avoid hanging out in the adult wonderland of his own creation… Though when he eventually experienced puberty in the future, a lot of these memories were going to hit him in a different way like a ton of bricks.
She absently waved away the mess of portals and rooms and connections mapping the Underpark and focused back on her (sort of) innocent little brother helping redesign the facilities for the new carnival park.
And his new iron harem. Or 'assigned security team', as he called it.
If nothing else, her brother was BEYOND defended should anything dangerous try to get access to him. Not that he wasn't basically untouchable before, explodo-Bill demonstrated that fairly clearly earlier, but even if they were sassy and sexy those women (And George) could put any Hostile DOWN if needed.
She watched John nod at whatever the park manager was saying before a duplicate merry go round spawned into existence… But unlike the one being used as an example, THIS one was clearly made out of astonishingly high quality materials and was triple the size of the original.
Apparently the company responsible for the new event location was very thrilled at having access to someone who could duplicate and MODIFY equipment for basically free and were taking full advantage of the opportunity.
Which was fine.
At least until the Underpark community finds out about John's new carnival construction project up here and begins to establish an XXX variant version down in their new sinful paradise.
She snorted as she imagined what exactly you would 'ride' down there on a merry go round… And sighed as she made a mental note to increase the amount of sanitary effects to be established for the entire area, using Magic or Belief or whatever.
Leaning back in the chair, she glanced to the side. "You mentioned some changes were unexpected?"
Not that such an issue would be surprising. Something about the over map already felt… Too familiar, yet unknown. It was why Jessica had been so obsessed about getting a grasp on this entire mess.
The metallic woman, the head of Doe Park security teams, nodded as a 'camera feed' appeared in the air. She began to gesture an explanation and… Wait. "I recognize that door."
What the HELL was the entry to the 'Magic pit' doing down there!? "When did it show up?"
The angelic golem flickered a hand… And the same door showed up in dozens of other illusions, showing dozens of different locations. "What the…"
And then Jessica blinked.
Doe Park belonged to her and to John.
In a way, it was transforming into a second base.
Especially considering the employee housing constructed over in Relaxing Retreat.
And if this was in some small way her place, her home, then it… It was also her [[Home.]]
Slowly, Jessica stood in the observation room. "I can't believe I'm about to do this… [[Home]], could I please have a door to my brother?"
And there was a Bound Door to the side now. One that had always been there, but only when needed.
She stared at the not-new door. "Are you… Are you still back across town, or did these two places merge or something?"
[[Home]] is where her heart is, and John and Jessica were the heart of their family. Their home was always their [[Home.]] A place of safety and love and protectiveness.
Oh.
Jessica couldn't help a warm smile. "Still, I should let John know about this."
Wait. "Does this mean that I am allowing a sex paradise to be built under my [[Home?]]"
Something unseen raised an eyebrow that didn't exist.
She blushed bright red! "You don't KNOW that I would have a sex dungeon or whatever! I never said that out loud, so it doesn't count!"
Someone shifted and… Oh.
The smirking sexy iron golems in the room.
Shit. "None of you heard me, alright? I didn't say anything and… And I am going to go talk to my little brother a bit, so keep a watch on the data feeds in here, alright?"
One of the iron women gave her a wink.
Door! Let's go through the damned door!
~~~Pocket System~~~
John hummed. "Going to replace all the equipment actually… I think it would be better for me to just supply a bunch of replacement parts and the schematics to build more when needed."
He gestured at the much larger ferris wheel and the tilt-a-whirl and so forth. "My machines are just safer and won't require as much maintenance to keep operational, especially with the magical enhancements and new energy sources."
The Carnival manager frowned but gave a slow nod. "It's a damned odd employment contract though. Especially if we don't technically supply the rides and such."
John hummed. "I see it as a win-win! Sure, we may have certain restrictions here on ticket pricing and stuff… But with us supplying you with the prizes and a lot of your needed materials at cost? You'll be raking in the cash without having to move all over the place!"
Not to mention the increase in carnival food quality when using Essence ingredients. "Plus, with me building variants of your equipment the original hardware can be used elsewhere. Not to mention that we can stay open all season! No bad weather underground, I can tell you that too!"
The man grunted. "But I'll basically be opening a new team, and training up staff is not exactly free. Might have to tack on some extra fees here and there. You know, to make ends meet."
Fair enough, maybe? "Hiring new people can be annoying. I know my sister has been running all over the place convincing people to join up in Doe Park already, so I bet you could find a lot of people interested in joining the carnival for a season or two… Anyway, the income should be worth it, no?"
The manager nodded. "Better than what we can get elsewhere, at least. Not to mention how dangerous some places turned out to be when we set up shop… Right, enough talking, where were we?"
John glanced back at the most recent attraction. "Well, now that the mirror maze is set up, I think there is going to be another row of gaming booths?"
He snorted. "Half the point of them was how profitable they were, but the new designs almost tripled the win rates. Is it worth keeping them now?"
The youngest Doe shrugged. "Even without using those cheating tricks these games still favor the house to win."
Besides, the prizes were basically free to restock now despite being of drastically higher quality. "If you want, we can cover the cost of operations for them. We keep any profit but also cover any loss due to the higher win rates… You just need to supply the workers to keep them operational. What do you think?"
The man smirked as if he had won something, but to be fair the guy was lacking some critical information about John's abilities and the actual costs involved here. "Sounds like a plan!"
At this rate, most of the Carnival would be owned lock stock and barrel by Doe Park with only the employees being supplied by the outside company. Jobs that could be replaced in the future when the work force expanded enough.
Though John was pretty sure that wasn't this manager's actual intentions, the end results should still work out. "We can update the contract later to cover… Oh, high sis!"
Where had she come from?
Jessica looked a bit flustered. "Hey brat. Just a heads up: At some point our [[Home]] shifted into something of a more abstract concept."
John blinked. "I'm sorry?"
She nodded. "Anyplace we consider to be ours ends up becoming our [[Home]] to some degree."
…Huh. "Did our house vanish when I built this place?"
No, because his [[Home]] would always be one place in his heart even if it was physically located in different or many locations. As long as he felt at home he would be at [[Home.]]
Oh. "Well… That's neat." John suddenly grinned. "Plus I don't need to move my stuff from my new room back at the house to the employee housing down here! This is awesome!"
His sister chuckled at his sudden enthusiasm… And then turned towards the Carnival manager. "So, Mr. Jacobs was it?"
The man gulped. "...Yes?"
Suddenly his sister was gone and the MiB Agent towered over the man. "I'm under the impression that you wished to modify the contract my brother provided for you to operate within the domains of Doe Park. Shall we talk in my conference room?"
A door that had always been there (At least it was now) opened without her touching it and she gestured towards the meeting room revealed within. "After all, my brother may be providing my offers on our behalf, but despite being a talented young man… I am the one in charge of financial decisions in our family."
The muscled and dominant man stuttered as he was led to his doom/the negotiating table.
…He'd probably be fine.
John turned to the remaining staff. "So while they are gone, I think you guys wanted to set up a go kart racing track and a putt putt golfing area?"
Wonder why they all look so shocked? "Hello? Did you hear me?"
""""SIR, YES SIR!""""
Uh. "So… Let's get started?"
""""SIR, YES SIR!""""
Oh no! His sister broke the carnies. Damn it!
