Chapter 2: High Tea (A/N: Thx for following and favoriting my story Crumbelina's Sweet Admirer and Ashley Kate Shadrock. Plz try and leave a review)
On the day of the tea, I dressed in a teal dress, and black flats. I'd never been to a high tea before, so I didn't know what to expect. I then grabbed my purse, and got ready to leave. As I walked by my dad and sister who were getting ready to go somewhere.
"Dad, could you give me a ride to the Hotel Boston?" I asked.
"Why do you need to go there?" Dad wanted to know.
"I won an invitation to a tea party."
"You actually won something?" Margret joked.
"Margret. Sure Kimmy, you can ride with us."
It turned out Dad was taking Margret on a tour of his law firm, and could drop me off.
In the car, I sat in the back seat while Dad and Margret talked about law terms and different cases. They didn't even bother to ask me how things were going with me. When we came to the Hotel Boston, Dad dropped me off, and told me to call Mom when I finished up.
They drove off and I went into the hotel. I gave my invitation to the receptionist and he directed me to go to the ballroom. When I got there, I saw many people inside. There were senior citizens, some regular adults, and to her surprise she saw the Elites.
Cesar was wearing a navy blue suit, white dress shirt, red tie, and black shoes. Pam wore a white and green floral dress, black low heels, and white gloves. And Claudette had on a purple blouse, black skirt, and black low heels.
I knew they did fancy things, but I didn't think they'd go to a high tea. I looked around for a place to sit, and managed to find an empty table. When I sat down, a waiter put a teacup and saucer in front of me.
"What kind of tea would you like ma'am?" he asked me. I didn't really know, since I never tried tea before. "I'll just have some green tea." I told him, thinking of the first tea that came to my mind.
"Coming right up. We'll also get you your food."
As he left, I glanced over at the Elites who were talking amongst themselves, and then Cesar looked over at me. I quickly looked away, but then heard footsteps approaching my table.
"Hey, you're the girl who was at our table."
I slowly turned my head and saw that the three of them standing before me. I got nervous, what would they do to me?
"Your name's Kimmy right?" asked Cesar.
"Y-yeah. And I didn't mean to sit at your table.." I sputtered.
"Hey, it's okay. We weren't angry." Pam told me.
That surprised me.
"Would you like to sit with us?" offered Claudette.
I was surprised. I didn't think the Elites could be friendly, or was this a trick? I decided I had nothing to lose, so I decided to join them. The waiter had just come back with my tea, and I told him I'd be sitting with the others.
Sitting with the Elites turned out to be nice.
"So Kimmy, what brought you to high tea?" Pam asked me.
"I won it in that raffle."
"I see. We come here every other weekend." explained Claudette.
"Oh really? Wow."
"So what kind of tea do you like?" Cesar wanted to know.
I was taken aback a bit, I didn't expect us to talk about tea.
"Well I don't actually drink tea that much, so I just ordered some simple green tea."
"Green tea? There are much better teas than that." Pam told me.
"Really?" I asked curiously.
Pam ordered us an assortment of tea, and I sampled each one. To my surprise, they were actually pretty good. My favorite one was the Earl Gray tea. Then we had something to eat. The waiter brought out mini quiches, scones with jam, and macaroons.
"This is delicious." I told them.
"Careful, Kimmy. Remember your manners." Cesar told me.
I was surprised, I hadn't been told to mind my manners since I was a kid. But I quickly composed myself, to make sure I was still presentable. When high tea was over, everyone walked out of the room, and I got on my phone and called my mom to see if she could pick me up.
She said she had been out getting groceries, and would swing by and get me. After I got off the phone, I saw that Cesar, Pam, and Claudette walking towards me again.
"You're pretty nice, Kimmy." Pam told me.
"Oh, thanks."
"You should hang out with us at school." Claudette suggested.
I was surprised again. I wasn't sure if this was a trap or if they really meant it. But I was tired of being all alone at school.
"Sure, that sounds nice." I answered.
"Great, we'll see you on Monday." Cesar told me.
And with that, they got into a nice red Corvette, and drove off. Gee one of their parents must be really well off. A few minutes later, my mom pulled up in her car. When I got in, I saw that George was in there.
"What were you doing here, Kimmy?" mom asked me.
"I won an invitation to a high tea."
"You mean those things that old British ladies have? I didn't know you were one." George teased.
I rolled my eyes at him. On the whole ride home, I thought about Monday. I still couldn't believe the Elites said I should hang out with them. What was I getting myself into? And was it a good thing or a bad thing?
