Authors Notes- I am back again with yet another Transformers story. Haha. As This time this story will feature a pairing I don't think I've seen too much of which is the Smokescreen/Knock Out pairing. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the enemies to lovers sorta story. If that's what you can call this? Also as the story goes on this story will feature sexual themes of all sorts. I'll let you know in the Authors Notes what they are but if none of that is your cuppa tea then this is where we part ways. But I'll remember our time fondly, now ramble aside here is the very first chapter to Common Ground. I hope you enjoy!
Chapter I: Racing Through The Night.
I'm going to get in so much trouble if I get caught. Smokescreen told himself, as he crept through the halls of the Autobot base. It was silent, most of Team Prime had either gone home for the evening, or were in recharge, and then there was Smokescreen. Who seemed unable to recharge like the rest of them, he was too restless, he needed to burn off some of this excess energy. So, here he was creeping through the now silent base hoping he wouldn't wake anyone up. Well, aside from Ratchet, who never seemed to recharge. Biting down on his bottom lip he peeked around the corner, seeing that the coast was clear.
Ever since Smokescreen had first arrived on Earth he had not only been trying to impress Optimus Prime in someway or another. He was trying to find his place in Team Prime, he was always looking for something fun to do on this mud ball. And sure, spending time with Jack pulling pranks on a jerk named Vince was fun and all and worth a few laughs. It didn't keep the rookie entertained for long. Of course, it didn't help that Arcee soon forbade Jack from being around Smokescreen, especially after the incident with the Star Sabre and the Decepticons.
Not that Smokescreen could really blame her, that...wasn't his best moment if he was being honest. And he and Jack still hung out around the base but otherwise Smokescreen liked to find his fun elsewhere. Hence why he was sneaking out this very night. Heading for the exit and transformed as he hit the road. Stars twinkled against the night sky as he drove down the dirt road in his brand new alt-mode looking for said fun. It would be a while before he was needed back at the base. Turning on his radio as he switched channels as he drove through Jasper, Nevada. Until he caught wind of a news broadcast.
Street Races?
Smokescreen's spark leaped at the thought of that. He loved how fast he could go in his alt-mode, and maybe this street racing thing would allow him to put that to the limit without anyone getting hurt hopefully. The main question was where could he find one of these street races?
After he drove around for what seemed like forever Smokescreen caught sight of a gathering of flashy, powerful looking cars, of various colors. Perhaps this was what he was looking for? Even if it wasn't it was better than driving around aimlessly for hours on end. But something told him that this was what he was looking for. Steeling his nerves Smokescreen moved to join the others, catching sight of a familiar flashy red to his right, it seemed so familiar that he couldn't take his optics off of it.
Why? It was just a regular old Earth vehicle, right? Something told the rookie that wasn't the case. Forcing himself to focus he tore his gaze away from the flashy car as a young human female stood before them.
"Drivers!" A voice called out. "Start your engines!" And with that Smokescreen and the rest of the drivers pulled away from the starting line.
However, his thoughts were still on that red car, something told him that was not a normal car. Why though? Why of all the cars around him was he drawn to that one? Was it like him? A Cybertronian? Or did Smokescreen just like that style himself? Shoving these thoughts from his head he drove, intent on showing these humans how it was done.
Well, this was interesting. Knock Out thought. Catching sight of a familiar flashy car in his rearview mirror. It would seem that one of the Autobots had caught a wind of his presence among these humans, and now hoped to catch him. Fat lot of good it would do them. The only the Autobot that would ever have a chance to catch up with him was Bumblebee, and now it would seem that the newbie Smokescreen wanted to test his metal against him. So be it, he would have the kid eating his dust in moments.
But Knock Out wasn't going to lie it would be nice to have an actual challenge at these things.
*Well, well,* Knock Out spoke through the comms to Smokescreen. *What do we have here? The Autobots newest recruit is out street racing, what will Prime think when he finds out.*
Smokescreen bristled, now he knew why that red sports car seemed so familiar. That was Knock Out. What was he doing here? Did the Decepticons resident medic enjoy sneaking out late at night to race?
*And you?* Smokescreen asked, closing in on the red Decepticon. *What will Lord Megatron think when he finds out you like to street race.*
Touché.
Knock Out chuckled as he rounded the corner. *Tell me, Smokescreen, do you think you can keep up?*
*That a challenge, 'Con?* Smokescreen asked, humor tinting his voice. *Because if it is you'll be eating my dust. But the question is what will I get if I win?*
Knock Out chuckled, he wondered if the kid really would be able to take everything he could throw at him, well he would just have to find out. He had plenty of time before anyone on the Nemesis noticed he was gone, and maybe it was the same for Smokescreen. And besides this little race was far from over.
*You're good, kid.* Knock Out called out to him. *But do you think you can handle this?* And as he said that Knock Out picked up the pace.
Well, this was an interesting turn of events. Smokescreen thought. He never thought he'd run into Knock Out out here, let alone be racing against him like they weren't in a war against each other. It was nice? Who would have thought that even the 'Cons liked to burn off energy. In fact, Smokescreen was certain that was the case as the Decepticon called out to him before racing off.
Well, challenge accepted. He thought as he blew past several other racers to chase after him, rounding the corner. *You call this a challenge?* He called out. *Please you're going to have to do better than that* He said over the comms.
This game seemed to go on for what seemed like forever, until finally the race ended. Not that Smokescreen or Knock Out seemed to care about the humans or their toy cars as they raced off into the night. Neither of them stopping until Knock Out and Smokescreen ended up in a heavily wooded area. That was when Smokescreen hesitated, the race was over, and he knew he could be walking right into a trap. Transforming Smokescreen transformed his hands into blasters.
"Oh, relax kid." Knock Out spoke, emerging from the shadows, making Smokescreen jump. "If I really wanted to hurt you I would have done so a while ago." Smokescreen lowered his weapons slightly. "In fact..." Knock Out purred, on his faceplate. "I'm glad you followed me, because that means I get to claim my prize."
Prize!?
Oh scrap! Smokescreen thought, raising his blaster once more, optics narrowing, this was a trap! His optics darted around, expecting Vehicon troopers to emerge from the shadows, and surround him.
"I said relax." Knock Out huffed, shoving Smokescreen's blasters down as he drew close. "All I want is this..." the Decepticon trailed off, offlining his optics as he pressed his lips to Smokescreen's.
Smokescreen was struck silent, standing absolutely still. The kiss seemed to last forever before Knock Out finally pulled away, that sly smile never leaving Knock Out's faceplate, as he backed away. Silencing continuing to permeate between the two, until Knock Out turned away. Smokescreen didn't know what to do, a Decepticon had just kissed him, and was now walking away as if it was nothing. An every day occurrence.
"Uh, h-hey..." Smokescreen managed to choke out, causing Knock Out to stop in his tracks.
"Yes?" What was Smokescreen going to say? "Look," Knock Out said, walking up to Smokescreen once more. "Tonight was fun, and hey, I would love to race you again sometime. But don't get your panties in a twist it was just a kiss, thinking nothing of it. Hell, maybe next time if you win you can get something from me." Knock Out winked at the young Autobot as he transformed, and drove off, leaving Smokescreen in his dust once more.
Smokescreen continued to watch him until Knock Out was well out of sight. Realizing that he should probably get back to the base before anyone noticed he was gone. Transforming Smokescreen drove off into the night, and as he did so he couldn't help but think back to that kiss they had shared. And if Smokescreen was being honest? If Knock Out was being honest about what he had said before, Smokescreen hoped they would meet again, outside of the battle that is...
Authors Notes- And thus is the conclusion of the first chapter of Common Ground. I hope you liked it. And this is The Exhausted Writer signing off, have a good night.
