I don't own A Song of Fire and Ice.

Prologue

Many would not believe Prince Daemon Targaryen's 'The Rogue Prince' had ever loved someone.

Would you believe it?

Of course not.

For most people, it is impossible to know his true feelings behind his display of rash and temper man.

Baelora Snow is his natural daughter. Many would be disgusted seeing this child whose only existence shows that he betrayed his lady wife, Rhea Royce his Bronze Bitch. However, they couldn't hate this child.

In many cases, it doesn't surprise people when lords or royals have children out of wedlock with maids, servants or whores.

But Baelora Snow was more than acceptable to handle her presence.

It is thanks to her noble birth mother.

Her mother wasn't an ordinary noble. She came from the very powerful heritage and former lines of Kings.

Her mother's birth house is the House of Starks.

Sara Stark the sister to Rickon and Bennard Stark.

The story goes that Daemon Targaryen desired to lay with the Winter Rose beauty at the tourney years ago, but she rebuffed his advances which made him want her more. The king and even the courtiers had never seen the Rogue Prince so absent-minded and focused on getting his way to have her.

Lady Sara Stark was dignified, virtuous, and straightforward. In fact, she was taller than the southern women. She was nearly close to his height. Daemon would try to get him to at least touch her hand, but she would repeat her words, "My virtues lie to my husband whomever he may be." Or cases like, "My prince, there are more flowers in your garden that would love to be plucked out by your hand and be deflowered for one night."

Prince Daemon went as far as writing love letters and making poems and no doubt he forced the professionals to write them.

It is almost like he nearly gave up his pursuit if he was poisoned that day.

When Prince Daemon took poison from his brother, Viserys who was made Crown Prince and new heir to the throne. There were speculations that the poison was for Viserys, not Daemon.

The Red Keep was on locked down and no one was to leave the city.

Sara Stark busted into his room in fear that he died somehow. She cared for him and helped him recover from that poison with maids and Measter was watching every move. They reported to the Royal family and see no harm to this.

It was thanks to that incident Sara Stark happily walked to his side as if she was his wife. Thou, many criticized Lady Stark. Her place by Daemon's side was an insult to Lady Rhae Royce whom he was estranged for years.

Sara Stark was announced to be carrying his child. Daemon was excited to be a father thou others did not approve of this. Daemon feared his enemies could harm her and their child, so he flew them to Dragonstone, and he went with them for the child to have a chance to be born.

The child is born!

His daughter Baelora Snow, but the loss of her mother did live to see her daughter.

No one knew what had happened. Everyone assumed that Sara Stark had died from childbirth fever.

Prince Daemon never talked about what happened that day, but all he whispered was, "My fault."

He focuses all his affection and attention on his natural-born daughter. He never let her hide the fact that she was not born legitimately and didn't sugarcoat that the world would belittle, taunt, and bully her based on her birth.

However, she managed to win over a very powerful man.

King Jaehaerys I Targaryen was already an old man, but one look at the little girl reminded him so much of his sister's wife, Alysanne. In his state of mind, he would teach her to read and write before she decided to read him a book to please him.

He practically adored his granddaughter.

Baelora smiled with one baby tooth from her front which he would burst into laughter.

"Oh, my dear, Baelora. What a fine young woman you will become." He patted her head as he wished to rest for a moment. As he laid back, he took hold of Baelorea as he wished to take naps together. He went as far as holding her as if she was one of his daughters whom he loved and missed for many years.

Thou, it was the last peaceful day ended as he died in his sleep. Baelora yelled for all the Red Keep to hear.

"Grandsire…" She shook him to wake him up not understanding why he didn't wake up. Daemon took hold of his daughter as they looked at his grandsire. They knew judging by Grand Measter that the old king was gone.

Baelora stood as she watched the funeral pyre being burned. Many members of the courts stood with sullen looks as they watched the king's body burned away by dragon fire.

She didn't understand death before. At the tender age of four, she understood that death was the saddest thing to see among beloved family members.

Death took her mama and now they took her great-grandfather too. The sun is setting down as she watches the cliffs and hears the ocean.

Footsteps come to her side and coax her into comforting her by combing her head. She looked up and saw her father Daemon's blank expression, "Come love. Let's go back to the castle."

He picked her up as she looked back where the old king's ashes flew into the air. Overshadowed by a large shadow covering them briefly, Baelora looked up to the sky as she watched her great grandfather's dragon Vermithor the Bronze Fury roar in sadness and fly away from Kingslanding.

It will be years before she sees Vermithor again.
