it's a nice sunny day in the east blue. The sun is shining. The birds are flying high in the sky. The waves are strong. Everything is going peacefully.
[at Makino's bar]
there is a crew of pirates, better known as the red haired pirates.
they sing, dance and or get drunk til the sun rises up in the morning.
as the crew party to their hearts content, the captain of said crew, "red hair" Shanks, is getting told by a young 7 year old boy, saying he'll become a pirate like him.
his name... is monkey D Luffy.
take me with you this time Shanks?, it'll be alright said Luffy to his hero.
hahaha!, like you can cut it as a pirate, your still just a kid Luffy laughed Shanks happily.
I'll prove my worth on your crew, I've been training day by day, to turn both my fists into weapons of mass destruction said Luffy as he starts punching the air.
is that right laughed Shanks.
yep, I've even been training to use two swords in case my fists ain't enough to seal the deal said Luffy speaking with pride in his voice.
if that's the case, then why not form your own pirate crew? Asked the crew's cook Lucky Roo.
because I want to learn how to be a pirate with you guys teaching me the ways of piracy said Luffy.
I tell ya Luffy, your acting like the captain when he was a little pirate in training said the crew's sniper Yasopp.
really? Asked Luffy surprised.
yeah. That reminds me. I ever tell ya lot about my son, Usopp? Asked Yasopp getting ready to tell the tell of his only child again.
your young Luffy. I have faith you'll make a good pirate on your own. You won't even need me to teach ya said Shanks as he rubs Luffy's head.
as the red haired pirates kept partying with happy faces on them...
just like that, the door to the bar was kicked off its hinges.
a group of bandits came walking in. As they did this, they saw on the red haired pirates before snarling at the crew.
so these lot of pirates huh?. What a bunch of weaklings said the bandit leader.
this surprised the pirates thinking the same thing.
(is this guy dumb? Thought the whole crew).
Makino the bar owner walked up to the bandit leader.
greetings, how can I help you? Asked Makino trying to be nice.
we're bandits as you can see. We mean the bar no harm, we'll have ten barrels of your finest alcohol said the bandit leader as he looks at Makino with lust in his eyes.
I'm very sorry sir, but I've just ran out said Makino.
I see, and what of these weak pirates? Asked the bandit leader looking at the pirates he see's as weaklings.
that'd be our bad. Looks like we drank the whole place fry again. But don't worry, this here bottle is still unopened. Here ya guy said Shanks handing over the last bottle of alcohol.
just like that, the bandit leader threw a punch at the bottle. Getting Shanks wet.
who the hell ya think your talking to, huh? Asked the bandit leader as he then pulls something out of his coat pocket.
it's a wanted poster.
wanted: dead or alive: Higuma "the bear": 8,000,000 Barrie's.
ya see this?. I'm a wanted man. I've killed peoples who dares cross me. Better hope you don't get in my way as well, ya red haired rat said Higuma as he glared angrily at Shanks.
if I had a Barrie. For how many have called me that word... I'd be rice by now said Shanks.
you really are a idiot. You make me sick said Higuma before spitting on Shanks.
just like that, Higuma and his men began to leave the bar.
see ya lot never again, cowards said Higuma as he and his men laughed away.
are you ok? Asked Makino as she helps Shanks up.
I'm fine Makino said Shanks as he gets up.
everything was silent...
until the whole crew burst out laughing.
did you see the look on his face? Laughed crew 1.
he looked so mad! Laughed crew 2.
as the crew laughed, Shanks couldn't help but laughed as well.
WHAT'S SO FUNNY?! Yelled Luffy upset by what he just saw.
what was that Shanks?!, ya should have fought back! Yelled Luffy.
Luffy, it's just some alcohol. It's not like he was hurting anyone said Shanks with a calm smile.
what if he did hurt someone. He could have hurt you, or Makino! Said Luffy angry.
trust me when I say this Luffy. If he tried to do that to Makino, or anyone I care about... he wouldn't have left this bar alive said Shanks smiling.
the captain is right Luffy. That dumb bandit and his gang. Wouldn't stand a chance against the likes of us said the vice captain Benn Beckmann.
then why let him do that? Asked Luffy confused.
simple. We were being nice to them said Shanks.

...that's dumb, if It was my choice, I'd just beat the crap out of him said Luffy as he sets back down in his seat.
that's your choice Luffy. You be you, and we'll be us, ok? Asked Shanks smiling.
yeah sure, whatever said Luffy as he looks away from Shanks.
just like that, he spots a opened chest next to him.
as Shanks starts cleaning the place up he hears a sound close by. He see's Luffy eating.
don't you ever stop being hungry? Laughed Shanks smiling calmly.
sometimes said Luffy as he eats.
as Luffy eats his meal, Shanks gets a better look at what Luffy's eating...
just like that Shanks begins to panic.
LUFFY!, STOP!, DON'T EAT THAT FRUIT! Screamed Shanks in a panic of fear.
huh?, why not? Asked Luffy confused.
you. Dumbass!. You just ate our 40,000,000 Barrie's away said Shanks.
you mean the strange looking fruit?, it tasted bad said Luffy.
that, was a devil fruit. A powerful fruit, that gives the user a power... but takes away their ability to swim forever said Shanks.
what?!, no way! Said Luffy completely in panic.
damn it Luffy, what where ya thinking? Asked Shanks.
I was thinking, it looked strange. But I was still hungry, so I ate it anyways said Luffy.
yep. Your a gluten alright said Shanks.
so... which is it? Asked Luffy.
hmm? Asked Shanks confused.
the devil fruit. Which one was it? Asked Luffy.
last I checked. It's called the shadow shadow fruit. It gives you the power to manifest, and control the shadows of living things. Even your own shadow. You can make your own shadow, fight along side you. You may even turn your shadow, into a weapon, or split it into pieces said Lucky Roo.
really?, that's so cool! Said Luffy out loud in an amazed tone.
you really are a big dummy said Shanks sighing in defeat.
just like that, Luffy began his training to use his devil fruit abilities.
