"I think its important we find Catmint and Tansy." Mousepaw says.
Petalstripe nods. "So you'll be going to the Twolegplace? That shouldn't be any trouble for you then."
Specklepaw bristles. "What's that supposed to mean?" He hisses, "You trying to start something Petal?"
Mousepaw flattens his ears and remembers Specklepaw's father was a loner from Twolegplace. Surely his mentor didn't mean it like that, but it was a site subject for him...
The older tabby just rolls her eyes at him. "Yeah, I'm trying to start looking for herbs. Guppythroat and I will be in HailClan territory- you on the otherhand should be plenty safe not going anywhere near it or BreezeClan." Petalstripe says sarcastically. The medicine cat was pointing out the way to the Twolegplace wouldn't cut through any territory.
Specklepaw lashes his tail but doesn't say anything more.
Guppythroat whispers something in Petalstripe's ear he doesn't catch, but he does pick out Petalstripe say "Mousepaw" when she murmurs back.
Mousepaw glances between them, nervous what they were talking about that needed to be said privately. He steps a little closer to his brother subconsciously. The small apprentice reassures himself she was probably just telling the deputy directions.
"Alright we'll be off; If you need to find us, just follow the dust path." Petalstripe says eventually. She flicks her tail and heads down a branch in the stream, Guppythroat right behind her.
As the two she cats leave, Mousepaw continues down the main stream. He was still leaning on Specklepaw a little, but fortunately he didn't seem to mind. Eventually the two brothers reach the Rumblepath.
Monsters didn't come that often, but they were still big, loud, and made Mousepaw incredibly nervous. Specklepaw looks on edge as he scouts ahead. If there was one thing he and Mousepaw had in common, this was it.
The ginger apprentice peeks out from behind the trees cautiously as they near the edge of Rumblepath. Specklepaw's entire body was stiff as he steps onto the graveley stone. After a few more steps he seems to relax a bit, and he flicks his tail for Mousepaw to follow.
Already jumpy from his brother going on without him, the tabby stumbles to the middle with Specklepaw quickly. Almost imediately, he feels a nudge from behind pushing him to keep going. A few more paces forward and soon grass was beneath his paws once again.
Mousepaw turns to see Specklepaw was right behind him. Even though there hadn't been any monsters, he couldn't help but purr in relief. "T..that wasn't so bad!" Mousepaw chuckles with a nervous smile.
Specklepaw shrugs, looking away. Alright then.
"Okay, the Twolegplace is right over here." Mousepaw says, raising his tail for him to follow. His brother not only does that, but walks ahead of him too. The ginger tom is only too eager to take the lead.
He could only assume Specklepaw was just as ready to get away from the Rumblepath as he was.
As the two cats approach the stumpy logs that made up the first twoleg fence, Mousepaw spots the first thing on his list.
"Cobweb!"
Creeping a bit closer, the tabby examines the sticky material to see if it was free of spiders. There was a little occupant, but Mousepaw easily blows it away, and then wraps the web around his tail.
Specklepaw had been watching him for a moment, however, he was soon distracted by the Twolegplace. He hops on the fence and stares off in the distance intensely.
Mousepaw worries he may be thinking about his father.
"S..Specklepaw, are you.."
