Severus arrived at breakfast the next morning and again no Rose, he sat through the whole things awaiting her arrival but she didn't appear. He looked at the slytherin table and noticed that all her friends were present including Albus Potter. He got up and headed towards the table.
'Mr Potter may I have a word?' He asked.
Albus nodded and followed Professor Snape out of the great hall.
'Am I in trouble professor Snape?' He asked a little nervous.
'Should you be Mr Potter?' He raised an eyebrow.
'No Sir' Replied Albus.
'Good, I've noticed Miss Weasleys absence at breakfast. Do you know where she is?'
'Maybe in the library Sir, she hasn't been spending as much time with us. Spends a lot of time by herself.' He said.
'And why is that Mr Potter?'
'I don't know Sir, she's been like this since a few weeks after we came back.'
'Very well Mr Potter, you may go' Severus watched as he went back to his friends.
Severus didn't know what to think, Rose had seemed fine at home before returning to hogwarts. He had a class to get to but would find Rose later and try to get to the bottom of what was going on.
Lunch in the great hall and just ended and although Severus had left early he hadn't seen Rose again. He was now sat in his classroom awaiting his fourth year slytherins and gryffindors. They all filed in and took their seats and again no sign of Rose.
Five minutes into class Rose walked in the door.
'Five points from slytherin for tardiness Miss Weasley, see me after class'
'Yes sir' Rose replied.
She took a seat in the back by herself. She kept her head down the whole class but Severus could see her red eyes and the odd tear that slipped down her cheek. He knew she was not his daughter but he did love her like one and he thought the feeling was mutual. So seeing her so upset really concerned him.
'Today we will be brewing wit sharpening potion, I know a few of you could certainly use it. Instructions are on the board, gather your ingredients and get to work.'
Severus walked to the back of the classroom to where Rose sat. He knelt down and whispered so no one else could hear.
'Rose would you like to work with me or by yourself?'
Rose startled as she had her head down and hadn't seen him approach.
'I'll be OK by myself, thanks' She attempted a smile but it wasn't very convincing.
'Is everything OK?' He asked concerned
Rose just nodded her head and got up to gather her ingredients.
Severus went back to the front of the class and observed his students. He was keeping a close eye on Scorpious Malfoy and his partner penny parkinson as they tended to get up to mischief. He watched as Scorpious picked up the wrong ingredient about to cause an explosion.
'MR MALFOY!! Don't move another muscle, do you think it wise to blow up my classroom?! Detention tomorrow night 7pm and don't be such an idiot next time!' He bellowed.
Everyone finished there potions and brought them to the front. The bell rang and as he dismissed his class he saw Rose escape out the door.
'Miss Weasley I wanted a word!' He shouted, but she was gone.
