A/N: I have watched Wish a good 3 times and hate how they ended the movie with no redemption arc at all for King Magnifico. So, in honor of Wish's 100th anniversary feature film, this is going to end with a classic Disney trope: True love can conquer anything, even the darkest of spells.
Amaya was running up the stairs, hoping to reach him in time. Magnifico had gone mad with power because of the book. She could hear his maniacal laughter, sounding absolutely like a madman. He was no longer the man she knew, he had changed but she had to get to him. She had to stop him. She reached the top of the castle, flew open the door, and stood between Magnifico and Asha, who was laying on the ground, curled up, groaning in pain. Magnifico stopped for a moment, his eyes going to the steely-faced look of the love of his life. "Amaya," he said, almost growling, "move aside." He didn't want to hurt her, but he would if he had to. Amaya didn't move a muscle, prompting Magnifico to get another magic blast ready. "I don't want to hurt you. Stand down." Amaya still stood her ground, Asha watching on, still in pain. Magnifico growled, releasing a blast of magic on Amaya. Amaya, feeling the magic course through her, shocking her, didn't cry out, didn't scream, just stood there. Magnifico was getting frustrated, wondering why she was making him do this to her. "Why are you making me hurt you? I don't want to do this," he cried out, loudly, frustration clear in his voice. Amaya got her thoughts together and stood with her arms out.
"Mi rey, I can see you're hurting. If you want someone to take that hurt, hurt me instead," she said.
Magnifico did as she asked, growling as he blasted her. She fell to the ground but got up and took a step toward him. Again, he blasted her, and again she stood up and took a step toward him. With each blast, Amaya didn't cry out, just got up again and walked toward him, getting closer. She finally reached him, where she could see his eyes. They were full of rage, and fear. She placed her hands on his face and pulled him into an embrace. Magnifico was stunned. So stunned, he let the staff fall from his hands. "It's okay, mi rey, I'm here," she whispered. Magnifico could see flashes in his mind. The fire tearing through his village. The haunting screams that he heard so many times in his dreams. The aftermath of seeing his family's charred corpses laying in the ashes of their once happy home. Magnifico wrapped Amaya in an embrace as well, sinking to the ground, Amaya following him. He sobbed, finally releasing the pain, the fear, the anxiety, and the anger he had been holding in for so long. No longer was he that scared lonely little boy, he realized. The clouds disappeared, the chains holding the people prisoners disappeared, and for a moment, it was almost as if everyone and everything disappeared, leaving just Amaya and Magnifico.
"I'm so sorry, mi corazon," he whispered through tears.
"Sh, sh, sh. It's okay. I'm here, I'm here," she reassured him again, wiping his eyes and kissing his forehead. She looked into his eyes and she saw him again. The man she had fallen in love with. Below them, the people of Rosas watched with bated breath. "There's the Magnifico I know." Magnifico sniffled and stood up, with the help of Amaya. He picked up the staff and slammed it down, breaking it into tiny pieces, releasing Star and the wishes. The villagers watched in amazement as the wishes floated toward them, finding their owners and merging with them. Asha stood up, and walked toward Amaya and hugged her, smiling as if to say 'thanks'. Amaya understood the smile, and she looked at Magnifico who was walking over, rubbing his neck as if he was nervous. Amaya, knowing that Magnifico would probably need a moment with Asha gave him a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder. "I'll see you in the square?" Magnifico nodded and she smiled and walked away. Magnifico cleared his throat, getting Asha's attention. "Asha-" a slight pause, behind bated breath. "-I'm-sorry. For everything. I know I probably don't deserve it, but, I'm still looking for an apprentice, if you're still interested in the job."
Asha gasped, at first pretending to think about it but then she let out a squeal. "Really?! I got the job?!" she asked, excitedly, practically screaming. "I mean, yeah, sure, whatever," she said, pretending to be cool.
"Great, I want to see you first thing tomorrow morning," Magnifico said, walking away.
A/N: That's all I have for now. This is a short one-shot. If people like it enough, I might make it a full fiction but that's really up to the people. Hope you liked it!
