Chapter 1: Imaginary Friend
Quinn and Sarah Puckerman were the first to notice that Kurt's daughter, Tracy Marie Anderson, was talking to an imaginary friend named Nono. They knew this was Sarah's nickname for Quinn's husband, Noah, from childhood. Noah had been killed in an accident overseas before Tracy was born, so she knew nothing about him as far as Quinn knew.
Then, one day, while Quinn was at Kurt and Blaine's house, she heard Tracy talking to her imaginary friend Nono in her room about his daughter Beth. As Quinn returns to the living room, she hears Tracy say, "Auntie Queenie misses you, Nono. No. She doesn't have a boyfriend. You're her person, Nono. She's not Mama Rachel! Okay? So. Dada liked Uncle Finn and pushed Nana Carole and Grandpa Burt together, thinking Uncle Finn would fall for him! You know that, Nono! Why don't you move on and leave me alone? I do not! You're dead, and yeah. You are cute! So what? I do not! I'm not listening! Haha, stop! Okay, okay, I love you, Uncle Nono!"
Quinn turned around before she entered Tracy's room and asked, "What's going on here? Who are you talking to in there?"
Tracy says, giggling, "My friend Nono." Then it looked like she had elbowed someone who wasn't there.
Soon, Quinn hears Santana calling out her name and leaves the room. As she leaves, she hears Tracy say, "How can she help? The police won't believe her. Dada didn't believe me. He thought you were not real, Uncle Nono. The police are going to need more proof that Daddy is planning to kill Dada." She said more, but Quinn couldn't hear it over the music playing.
Later that night, Blaine was texting someone. He soon sees a shadow and hears a voice whisper, "I'm watching you!"
Before he whispers, "You're dead, Puck. You can't save them!"
Blaine was knocked against the wall and choked before he heard Noah's voice say, "Want to bet?"
Before long, Kurt comes in and asks, "What was that? Blaine, are you okay?"
Blaine watches Noah's shadow fade away before he says, "It's nothing; I tripped and fell against the wall."
Then, Kurt hears Noah saying, "I'm watching you, Blaine." He hears a ghostly laugh, but he doesn't recognize the voice as being Noah's.
The second encounter Blaine had with Noah's ghost was during Burt and Carole's visit with them. After Blaine put Tracy in time-out, he was about to spank her. Soon, Blaine's hand stopped. Then Burt heard Noah's voice say, "You lay one hand on her, and you're dead! Now, remember, I'm watching you!"
Burt pretends he didn't hear it, and that night whispers, "Puck, are you here? Quinn told me you're watching Tracy. I don't know what is happening here, but I hope you keep watching after Tracy."
Burt sees a flicker of a shadow before he hears Noah's voice say, "Elizabeth and Finn are here, too. My love and anger, plus Tracy's love for me, make me stronger than them. I have been watching her since I died." Soon, Burt is asleep, and the house is quiet.
In the morning, at breakfast, everyone could tell Blaine didn't sleep well the night before. Then Burt asked, "Are you okay, son?"
Blaine just muttered, "I'm fine."
Burt hears Noah say, "Did I keep the little Hobbit up all night out of fear? Poor little Richie Rich is afraid of Tracy's not-so-imaginary friend, who knows he loves his money more than his own family!" Blaine sees the look on Burt's face and figures out that he knows what's going on now.
Before Burt and Carole return to Washington, Burt tells Blaine, "Son, I may not know everything, but I know if you harm Kurt or Tracy. I will make sure you pay for your crimes. Blaine, I have eyes everywhere."
He looks at a picture of Noah and Finn with Kurt and himself before he says in a low growl, "Everywhere?" Blaine jumps, and Burt hears Noah laughing, making Burt smirk as he leaves.
That night, Blaine sneaks out of the house and heads to Sebastian Smythe's house. He looks in his rearview mirror and sees Noah's reflection. He turns on the radio and hears Noah singing, "One, two, Puck's coming for you. Three, four, better lock your door. Five, six, grab a Crucifix. Seven, eight. Can you stay up late? Nine, ten, never sleep again." Blaine almost crashes his car as Noah laughs demonically.
Soon, his seatbelt tightens, and Noah asks, "Are you ready for some real fun?" Then the gas pedal goes down on its own, and Noah laughs again. Blaine tries to move but can't, and he watches in horror as cars swerve to avoid hitting him.
Before long, Blaine is back home and hears Noah say tauntingly, "I'm watching you." Blaine rushes into the house and crawls into bed with Kurt as Noah's laugh echoes through the house.
In the morning, Blaine meets Sebastian at Breadsticks and says, "I can't do this."
Sebastian rolls his eyes and asks, "Don't tell me you want to stay married to that ferret."
He takes Blaine's hand and asks, "What about our plan?"
Blaine sees Noah flicker as he says, "I can't." Then he runs out as Noah laughs.
