How do we get rid of the annoying neighbor lady?
Monica and Chandler have just moved to Westchester, sure to start a quiet life raising their children in the suburbs. But something unexpected presents itself, tranquility is in danger, what path will they take to avoid it? The drastic one that Chandler proposes or the persuasive and somewhat naive one that Monica suggests.
I hope you like the story and that you tell me his opinions, through them I know if I'm on the right path.
Remember English is not my native language, I hope the translation is correct, check it, but sometimes I miss some incorrect personal pronouns for the phrase, sorry.
I reiterate, I do not own the characters of Friends I only rely on them for the pure pleasure of writing stories without any economic interest, and Monica and Chandler they inspire me
Chapter 1
After having one last coffee at Central Perk, before leaving for their new house, Monica and Chandler got into the family minivan that Chandler had rented, which was already equipped with the appropriate seats for the twins.
It took them almost an hour to get to their new home in Westchester.
Chandler drove the car directly into the garage, where the Porsche he had brought in a couple of days before was already parked.
When they entered the house it was a jungle of boxes, but they all corresponded to the living room, dining room and kitchen, since Monica had marked in detail on each box the place where the moving company should leave each one, the children's, the ones that said suite, the kitchen, the living room, like that with all the locations.
The furniture was located in the corresponding area, although it still had to be arranged to Monica's taste. On the other hand, since the house was larger than the apartment, they would have to buy some more furniture, first the cribs for the twins, because the one that they brought was for only one baby, they also needed to buy the dining table, some more sofa for the living room, another for the suite, and obviously the furniture for Joey's room, garden furniture and a barbecue... But for all that there was time.
Now the first thing was to unload the milk, formula, bottle warmer, diapers and some clean clothes for the twins from the car, since they were showing signs that they would soon cry for their food.
When they finished feeding and changing the twins, they placed them in the stroller for their nap. Chandler took Monica to the couch, hugged her, and they both collapsed exhausted.
The day had been long, distressing both for leaving the apartment that they both loved, and for saying goodbye to their friends who they would no longer see every day, and now the fatigue of taking care of the twins was added while they had to start opening the boxes and accommodate everything.
After a good while of rest, they decided that while Monica was in charge of unpacking some of the boxes in the kitchen, just enough to be able to eat something and make breakfast the next day, Chandler would arrange the babies' clothes, lay out the sheets and blankets from the crib and then he would begin to take care of the suite, lay out the sheets and padding, and hang both of their clothes in the dressing room, and take all of both of their items to the bathroom.
In reality, they would only do what was necessary to get through that night decently, since the next day the whole gang would come to help with the location of everything.
When Chandler saw the moderately accommodated suite, he realized that they would have to buy a king bed because the one they brought was small, the apartment's bedroom couldn't fit a larger one, but in the suite it was lost before the size of the room.
Monica had prepared soup and some sandwiches and they had dinner peacefully but tired. While they were having dinner Chandler told Monica his idea of buying a bigger bed.
"Of course now you want a bigger bed so you have enough room to "get away from me" Monica said smiling.
"No, that's not why, when you go up to the room you will see that the bed is too small, and in a bigger bed our games would have more space," he replied with a mischievous smile.
"Today don't ask me for anything, as soon as I fall into bed I'll fall asleep" Monica told him.
"HA HA, you think I'm 18 years old, today I would need a crane to even move an arm," her beloved husband replied.
Chandler helped Monica clean the kitchen and they went upstairs to sleep as long as the twins would allow them before screaming for their food.
On Saturday, after attending to the twins three times that night, they went down to breakfast, Monica made coffee for the whole gang who would arrive in a moment. She would also prepare pancakes, but from a box, since they didn't have fresh food to cook yet.
The gang arrived and helped them set up everything, they even helped with the babies. Monica was happy, since the kitchen was twice as big, she had several storage units, but most importantly she had a pantry where she could have a well-stocked of all.
"They will never take me out of this house! She thought.
Before lunch the four men went to the market with the list that Monica had prepared with the fresh foods needed for the week and they also bought ice cream. Plus, they would have to buy more diapers, and on the way they stopped by the Chinese restaurant to buy lunch.
At night the gang left, Monica was sad, she knew that she would not see them at least until the following Saturday, she was going to miss them, but she was sure that they had made the right decision.
On Sunday they decided to take it easy, take care of the twins, put away a few things, since there was nothing left in the boxes, and dedicate a little to themselves. After lunch they went up to the suite, with luck they had more than two hours to spare them and they wanted to enjoy, they had to inaugurate the new house.
"Mon, for now we are opening the suite, there are many more rooms left," he told her with a mischievous smile and raising his eyebrows.
"We can make a list," Monica said.
"Honey, why don't we leave it to chance, wherever the moment falls, that's like a suspense movie," Chandler said, laughing.
"OK, you're right, whenever and wherever it occurs to us, we have to take advantage now that the twins don't walk.
"You know we forgot," Chandler assured.
"What?"
"The door for the stairs, one up and one down," Chandler said.
"Honey, there is still almost a year until they can walk, we have time," Monica answered and continued, "what you should buy tomorrow at the lawnmower, that will be your weekly task."
Chandler looked at her out of the corner of his eye and sighed. "I didn't know that would be my homework."
"Yes, I'll plant the flowers, but you'll take care of the grass," Monica said firmly.
"OK, tomorrow morning I'll go to the mall and see what I find," Chandler said with resignation.
"But buy a manual one, the electric ones make noise and will wake up the babies," said Monica.
"What!, not that!, I'm not going to leave my kidneys pushing that clipper, plus the pediatrician told us that children had to get used to sleeping with the normal noises of a house, even with music, so they'll get used to the mower," Chandler said.
"If they wake up, you will take care of making them sleep," Monica said with a Geller look.
"I would prefer a thousand times to lift them and pamper them to make them sleep again and again, instead to leave my kidneys in a manual cutter"
The argument was cut off when the twins began to cry demanding their bottle.
The next morning, after breakfast Chandler went out with the car to buy the lawnmower, and returned happy with the model he had found, it was not going to require almost any effort from him.
"I'm going to start the mower in the back yard, and then I'll do the front one," Chandler said excitedly with his new toy.
How long will the enthusiasm last? Monica thought, she knew him, surely in a couple of weeks she would have to go after him to do the job. Chandler did not like physical or manual jobs. Just as he was extremely intelligent, resourceful and talented at life and work, he when it came to sweating he escaped quickly.
When he finished the back garden, which he moved quickly with that powerful mower, he moved his machine to the front garden.
He had not long begun the task when he heard behind him a cry ¡OH... MY... GOD!, and a loud, throaty laugh.
Chandler froze, it occurred to him that it must have been a hallucination due to lack of sleep, but the laughter continued and was followed by a shout "¡CHANDLER BING ... WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!"….
Chandler turned to find Janice standing at the door to his garden with a huge smile, which he couldn't return.
"Man, why was that surprised face," Janice said and laughed again.
"Janice, what are you doing here?" Chandler asked, almost in a whisper.
"I can't believe you were the family that would move into this house, ¡OH... MY...GOD!, INCREDIBLE"
"Janice, what are you doing here?" Chandler asked again this time with a higher tone of voice.
"OH... MY... GOD!, WE ARE NEIGHBORS" she shouted again… "I live in the first house around the corner, there on the left" and pointed to the place.
"I didn't know you lived around here," Chandler said, still in shock.
"Yes honey, Sid and I moved into that house two years ago, with the two children. And you, ¿who you live with? ¿are still with Monica? although I don't think you lasted that long," Janice said with a mocking smile.
"Monica, I and our two children are moving on Friday," Chandler said, now in a tone annoyed by Janice's comment.
"You have two children? How old are they?" Since they can play with mine" Janice asked.
"It's difficult for now, they are twins and they are only a few days old," Chandler said.
"OH!" Janice shouted, "I'm dying to meet them and say hello to Monica," she said, fanning her face. "But now I was going to do something. Tell Monica that in the afternoon I'll stop by to say hello and meet the babies." And she continued without stopping
"¡What a joy!, Sid and I made a gang here with some neighbors, you are already part of it, we meet every Saturday, it will be great" "Well, I'm leaving, see you in the afternoon." And she left laughing.
Chandler ran out of strength, of the millions of inhabitants of New York, Janice, just Janice had to be they neighbor.
He stopped work, put the mower in the garage, and entered the house pale and upset.
Monica was scared when she saw him.
"Honey, what's wrong? Monica asked.
"Don't put anything else away, don't throw away the boxes, WE'RE MOVING!" Chandler shouted.
"Sweet, don't shout to wake up the twins who just fell asleep, but what are you talking about?" Monica asked.
"I said it simply and clearly, ¡WE ARE MOVING OUT OF THIS HOUSE ASAP!"
"Chandler, what's wrong with you, what are you talking about?"
"I was using the mower in the front garden and suddenly from behind me, and shouting, as is her custom, Janice appeared, you realize! "JANICE!, who turns out to be our neighbor around the corner," Chandler said.
"Are you sure, she told you that she lives around the corner" Monica said amazed.
"Look, at first I thought I was hallucinating due to lack of sleep, but she has lived in that house for, I don't know how many years, I don't remember what she said, only that she is with her husband Sid and the two children, and that she wanted them to play with our twins, and she also have a gang here with other neighbors and this Saturday we must go with them!" Chandler said with wide eyes and falling in despair.
"Honey, calm down, try to get your testicles back to his place, they are preventing you from thinking, we have no obligation to do anything with her or her gang, we will keep her away, like any neighbor, nothing more" Monica said
"Ha, ha, This afternoon she comes to greet you and meet the babies. ¡ONCE SHE ENTERS THE HOUSE SHE WILL NOT LEAVE ANYMORE!, you remembers when she intended to stay in our apartment"
"But at that time she wasn't married, she was alone," Monica said.
"But the day she fights with Sid or they break up, the truthful woman standing at the door with her suitcase and the two children pretending to live here" "Monica, I repeat, ¡WE HAVE TO MOVE!"
"Look, go up, take a shower, calm down, we'll see together a way to stop it," Monica advised him.
"I'm going to take a shower, but don't worry, it's a truck with no brakes coming straight towards us," Chandler said and went up to take a shower.
Although Monica had tried to stay calm so that Chandler wouldn't freak out even more, now she was sitting in the kitchen and she was feeling very worried. She had known Janice for years, and she was nosy and pushy.
After taking care of the twins they sat down to eat lunch, but Chandler barely ate anything.
They went up to the bedroom and lay down on the bed next to each other. Monica was sleepy, but she noticed that Chandler was not falling asleep and was staring at the ceiling.
"Honey, you can't sleep, what are you thinking?"
"This week we are moving and I am looking at alternatives," said Chandler.
"Baby, we can't move in a week or a month, we would have to put the house up for sale, which takes time, find another one, and Janice, now that she found us, can follow us wherever we go," Monica reflected, trying to get Chandler to he understood that the idea was absurd. Furthermore, despite having Janice as a neighbor, she was in love with her new house.
"No," Chandler said, "I've already thought of everything, the four of us are leaving at night, the mover takes all our furniture to a warehouse, and while this house is sold we're looking at another one, as far away as possible."
"Chandler, "where do you suppose we are going to live hidden while this house is sold and another one is bought?"
"I thought about it, we're going to live with your parents," Chandler said confidently.
"Honey, first we don't go into my parents' new house, it only has two bedrooms, and second, do you have any idea what it's like to live with my mother, I'd rather have Janice as a neighbor than live with my mother," Monica said firmly.
"Yes, I thought you would say that, therefore, we will go live in my mother's apartment, it is huge, with enough rooms, we would be alone, mom never goes to that apartment, it has been empty for years, I just have to call the janitor to let him know that we are going to live there, to see that someone cleans it and leaves it in good condition" Chandler explained firmly.
"Chandler, what are you talking about? Since I knew you, you told me that you hated that apartment, that you only had bad memories, you never took me to see it, and now you want us to live there?"
"Monica I have matured"
Monica interrupted him saying "in light of what you're talking about it doesn't seem like."
"Look, yes, I hated that place, but now I know that the problem was not the place but those who lived there, and they no longer live there. "I know we want to live in a house, but the apartment would be temporary, please, just think about it, I want to live peacefully with you and the twins, but I know we won't be able to do it with Janice as a neighbor."
Monica couldn't sleep either, Chandler's crazy ideas worried her as much or more than Janice.
