Past should stay Past
James Sirius stepped from the Floo, straight into the living room of Godric's Hollow, he had spent the afternoon at the Burrow, tossing garden gnomes with Fred.
It had been amazing fun and like always, he had bested his cousin with ease.
He quickly dusted himself off, vanishing it all with a quick wave of his wand.
Not being 17 yet, this would've gotten him in big trouble, if it weren't for the strong wards on the old home.
They had been reinforced even more by his dad, in an effort to keep everything and everyone that wished any harm upon this family, out of the house.
And James had to applaud him, so far that had worked flawlessly, and it also allowed them to use any form of magic at home, without alerting the ministry, for the use of underage magic, it was a win-win situation in his eyes.
He kicked off his boots, lazily throwing them into the entrance hall, before he quickly made his way upstairs, almost crashing headfirst into his mother, who was just coming down the stairs.
"Jamie!"
Her eyes glanced over his right shoulder clearly taking in the pair of shoes that were strewn about at the bottom of the staircase. Her look gave nothing away.
James simply shrugged. "Oops, might have to pick them up later."
He flashed her a toothy grin as he made to speed past her.
But quicker than his feet, was his mother's hand shooting out to block him in his way.
"Oh Godric, I swear, if you, James Sirius Potter, don't pick up that pair of shoes of yours, you will spend the rest of your summer in your room, and I will personally invite the entire family here to hand you their shoes so you can clean each and every one of them." Her brown eyes were glaring daggers at him.
"And you know how big this family is, don't you start acting like this cool marauder again, I thought you were over this phase."
Ginny's voice was like ice, and James visibly swallowed.
But he wouldn't let himself be intimidated by some empty threats like this.
"Pfft what phase, just because I don't let myself be commanded around like some lapdog, how about you ask Dad, he'll throw himself on his knees like always." He tried to act it off cool, but even he knew that he shouldn't had said that."
"No flying for two weeks." Ginny hissed "And if I catch you saying things like that one more time I will hang up your broom encased in an unbreakable glass casket until you're back at Hogwarts."
She glared at him in a way he had rarely seen his mother look.
James knew he had taken it too far, but he wouldn't back down now, as he spoke up again.
"Oh do you expect me being all like-" he changed into a mocking tone as he continued, "-the horror, I realize, I've been this way before."
The last thing he saw was the burning look on his mother's face before his eyes flew open, and he took in his bedroom, tinted in a slight orange tone from the early morning sun.
Goodness, what a dream he thought, as his hands came up to rub the sleep from his eyes.
Sometimes he realized, he really had been this way before.
