The song I'm using for this songfic that I'm interrupting the FanFiction already in progress to bring you is Happier by Marshmello and Bastille… i'll tell you why at the end of this chapter.

Once I pulled myself away from him, I felt Toru watch with teary eyes as I opened the back door to the plum voyager and climbed in, Tommy had the radio on and the song that was on was luckily my at-the-moment favorite...

Lately I've been, I've been thinking, I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier.

I may say you're doing the right thing, but I still hope you know what you are doing. Space Ruby said as my seatbelt fastened for me.

Me too, Space Ruby; I just hope we can find what I've been wanting for years. I thought.

When the morning comes, when we see what we become, in the cold light of day we're a flame in the wind not the fire that we've begun, every argument, every word we can't take back, cause with all that has happened I think that we both know the way that this story ends.

"Next stop, Buffalo Lake North Dakota." Tommy said.

"Isn't this exciting?" Kat gushed.

"Very." I answered, watching the scene outside my window, my friends took three fingers, kissed them and raised them up into the air.

The minute I saw the look on Mom's face, a thought struck me. "Mom doesn't know where we're going, right?" I asked once the car was driven out of the parking lot.

"I hope not." Tommy and Kat said in unison.

Then only for a minute, I want to change my mind cause this just don't feel right to me, I want to raise your spirits, I want to see you smile, but know that means I'll have to leave… know that means I'll have to leave, Lately I've been, I've been thinking, I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier.

It was hot and the van's air conditioning was nonexistent so every window was rolled down to allow cool air, I watched a field of wheat as the car sped through the clear sunny day on the freeway.

"Wow." I whispered, my eye caught sight of a gray horse enjoying some grass in it's pasture.

"Is that a horse?" Kat asked.

"Last I checked, it is." I answered, before catching the sight of a bigger same colored horse somehow feeling the need to chase the van across the pasture.

Something tells me items on my bucket list were going to get crossed off the moment we passed the fenced pasture, stopping the stallion in his tracks.

When the evening falls and I'm left there with my thoughts and the image of you being with someone else, well it's eating me up inside, but we ran our course, we pretended we're okay, now if we jump together, at least we can swing far away from the wreck we made.

We found a motel once we got to Montana.

Amazing what could be found on a budget, it looked clean as a whistle, and the whole room was bathed in pastels.

For some weird reason, I couldn't sleep, but uncle Tommy and Auntie Katherine could so I just spend to my knowledge, a small portion of the night looking out the window and up at the stars… As well as the occasional car that drove by.

I think I fell asleep before the sun had a chance to rise because I was woken up by uncle Tommy, we piled back into the eggplant colored minivan.

Then only for a minute, I want to change my mind cause this just don't feel right to me, I want to raise your spirits, I want to see you smile, but know that means I'll have to leave… know that means I'll have to leave, Lately I've been, I've been thinking, I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier.

For what seemed like a while, that seemingly big cup of water from lunch a couple of hours ago started to creep up on me.

Luckily for us, we noticed a sign for a pitstop in the distance."OK, ladies." Tommy said. "Show of hands, who needs to use the restroom?"

Normally, I could take a full bladder, but when you gotta go, you might as well before the urge becomes unbearable.

"Me." Kat and I said in unison, just like that, Tommy merged onto the road to the pitstop, and what a pitstop it was when we got there, a gas station, a restroom, even a designated spot to purchase sustenance and prepare it in whatever method.

As soon as I was finished in the restroom, I noticed it was dinner hour so I went to the guy in charge of the establishment and asked what jerky he had and how much it cost, I got beef jerky which was my favorite, teriyaki pork jerky which was uncle Tommy's favorite and poultry jerky which untie Katherine liked (I didn't know which one she liked so I purchased both).

They thanked me till it annoyed me when I presented them with dinner And yes that jerky was our dinner because we needed to keep this show on the road for as much of the time as possible if I wanted to get there in time for freshman orientation day

So I'll go, I'll go, I will go go go, (2X)

It would have been the middle of the night before we found a motel so we just hunkered down in the van at the next pitstop, my plan to get to my new house by nightfall failed.

The stars in the sky were like a blanket of night lights for me as was the full moon which was a good thing, I was wide awake for some reason while Tommy and Katherine dozed off in each other's arms, anyone else sensing a pattern?

Then suddenly, a shooting star streaked the night sky, A small gasp of shock and awe escaped my lips.

One shooting star turned into two, then four and then eight, only doubling until there were too many to count.

Lately I've been, I've been thinking, I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier, even though I might not like this, I think that you'll be happier, I want you to be happier.

The time has come for you to make a wish, Marissa. Space Ruby offered.

"Pick one wish and grant it, I've made too many to count in my lifetime." I happily sniffled, so happy to have finally seen a shower of meteors, as if a shower of meteors wasn't memorable enough, I then noticed two colored meteors streaking the sky, one green and one pink. "Were those two colored meteors your siblings?"

Not 'siblings', but yes; they beckon for a host of their own. Space Ruby answered.

Then only for a minute, I want to change my mind cause this just don't feel right to me, I want to raise your spirits, I want to see you smile, but know that means I'll have to leave… know that means I'll have to leave, Lately I've been, I've been thinking, I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier, So I'll go, I'll go, I will go go go.

We made it to the marina, lake Isles Marina to be exact.

According to the landlord, my house was the first one on the first dock, 2 Stories with a widow's walk, it was blue with a green scalloped roof like the scales of a mermaid, one could not say that it was a Dreams Drive house or that it wasn't.

We got to the house, Tommy turned the key and opened the door, my eyes were immediately drawn to the beach-themed interior. "After you, Maris." He chuckled.

I slowly stepped through the door. "Whoa." Repeatedly and quietly escaped my lips as I looked around the living room.

The rest of the tour went as followed...

Three bedrooms, if you count the entire second floor a bedroom which was a stove top and a pantry shy of it's own small apartment Open concept bathroom and all, The walls of that area were lined with bunkbeds so I'm guessing that's my little multi person tenant quarters.

One extremely bland powder room and a bathroom that looked like a desert threw up all over it.

And for the main event, my bedroom, baby blue walls, an entire wall lined with wire cubicles to put whatever I wanted in it, A closet full of half of my formal wardrobe, my desk from my bedroom back home for doing my college homework or whatever I wanted and a canopy bed with a familiar looking tie-dye scale print bedspread and pillows dressed in matching pillowcases (sheesh, did Uncle Tommy and Auntie Katherine burglarize my bedroom back home and dragged what they managed to steal here? They must've taken more pains than I realized to make my new house my new home).

I fished my laptop out of my book bag and put it on my desk, before

squealing with glee and collapsing onto my bed, while the bedspread and pillow case pillows looked and felt familiar, The mattress and box spring felt new, gosh, what more did my godparents feel the need to do for me?

The reason why I used Marshmello and Bastille's Happier is because I really feel like Toru is singing that song in particular to Marissa, when I listen to it.
