Minutes to Heaven
Part II

Izuku tiredly settled in her dorm room, the day weighing down on her. She just felt so, so tired. Whether it was from stress of her current situation or the emotional rollercoaster she was on, or even the physical changes and hormones her body was enduring, Izuku just wanted to forget everything and sleep.

There was always the quiet murmurings in the back of her head that were soothing and she always felt a sense of encouragement and comfort, but even whatever those were couldn't contain her depression.

She missed Sir's jacket —it, for some reason, had managed to calm the storm raging inside her entirely. She felt like she could hide from the world in it. And, she could blushingly admit, the lingering warmth made her feel safe while Sir's clinging fragrance was just the right amount of sweetness to swoon her senses and calm her anxiety.

Izuku sighed and thought that it was going to be another sleepless night. Then she got a text; seeing it was from Toshinori, she immediately looked at it.

Can we talk?

Frowning to herself, she sent an affirmative and headed out.

At the school's track, she met with Toshinori, who wore a grim look. It made her heart drop to her stomach.

"Midoriya-kun," the tall blond started gently. He took both of her hands in his. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Izuku froze, staring at him numbly. He couldn't…he couldn't know. He couldn't be talking about —

"If you'd been —if someone had attacked you, you could've come to me. You could always come to me," Toshinori told her fervently. "You don't have to go through this alone! Especially now that you're pregnant!"

"W-what are you talking about?" she said, voice going hysterical. "I don't know what you're talking about!"

Toshinori's face became pained. He took her into a gentle embrace. "I promised I'd be there for you. This changes nothing. I'm still on your side, Izuku."

Toshinori just being there and her name being said from his lips made her crumple in his arms, crying her eyes out. Hating to do so but finally accepting the truth as she broke down, Izuku admitted it to him.

"That man assaulted me and now I'm pregnant," she wailed and clutched onto her mentor tightly. "I hate him, I hate him!" she kept repeating, feeling so angry and broken.

Toshinori held onto her just as tightly, rocking her as he murmured soothingly to her. His comforting embrace and presence soothed her and she felt herself calming easily, her crying dying down until only the occasional sniffle escaped.

"How'd you find out?" she muttered against his chest, blinking away leftover tears.

Toshinori twitched against her. "Oh, uh…" he awkwardly cleared his throat and she sat up to face him. He looked chagrined. "Er, Sir Nighteye told me."

She paused. Why was she not surprised? The two had been friends once upon a time and both knew her and were involved in her life, so Nighteye would've forgone any current issues between them to tell Toshinori what had happened. Besides, how else would Toshinori have found out? Nighteye was the only one who knew what was going on with her.

"Come on," he stood up first before helping her. "Let's get some hot cocoa and watch some movies tonight."

She tiredly let him lead her back, but she admitted she didn't feel as weighed down as before.

Mirai began setting up for the new day, making sure he had Midoriya and Mirio's assignments already at their desks. It should be a quiet day and he'll just have those two working through old cases and trying to solve those on their own, before he'd go over them with those two. It'll be good to have a slow, unassuming day…especially if he suspected Midoriya might've had a hard night, if Toshinori chose to confront her right away, after Mirai had told him what was going on.

Guilt hit him and he felt remorseful for breaking the tentative trust Midoriya had given him, especially with their normal strained relationship as is. His foolhardy, stubborn confrontation at their first meeting had always loomed over them and he regretted his bitterness and pettiness had driven his feelings and views towards Midoriya before they had even met. His bullheadedness from before was affecting his ability to help her now.

Though he felt ill equipped anyway; this was not a situation he'd ever dealt with. Other assault victims, yes…but someone he knew personally? Had close ties to and cared for in his own way? God no. He had no idea what he was doing and for the first time in a long while, he felt lost. Part of him wished Midoriya stayed at UA that day so that he could prepare himself for her between now and 'then'. Maybe he could come up with an excuse, or even justification for his actions —a soft clearing of someone's throat caught his attention and he looked to see it was Midoriya herself.

Midoriya was there and early. Fuck.

He awkwardly turned to her and inwardly floundered.

"Sir, you told Toshinori."

Feeling like a deer in headlights, he slowly nodded. She fidgeted with her hands.

"I was upset when I first found out," she started. He flinched. "But then I had the rest of the night to think it over and even some of this morning."

"I'm sorry," he blurted out, unable to keep it in. "I know you told me you didn't want him to know and I went against your wishes, but…I know he cares for you a lot and I don't know how to help you through this alone," he admitted. "Toshinori can comfort you through my inadequacy."

Midoriya gave him a soft smile that made him hold still.

"I was upset. But talking and being with Toshinori made me feel better and not as angry at everything as I was. It wasn't what I wanted…but it was what I needed. So thank you, Sir."

The sheer gratitude from her matched the sheer relief that filled him. The sudden hug from her just then caught him off guard, but he more than willingly embraced her back and tried to will any comfort he could to her.

Toshinori had sent him a flurry of texts through the day, which he calmly but both parts fondly and exasperatedly answered back. But it was also reassuring as he didn't feel like he was alone in helping and comforting Midoriya through her ordeal.

The rest of the day went on as normal and as peaceful as he'd hoped for. Truthfully, he thought nothing else would happen.

And, as his luck would have it, Midoriya came to see him again.

"Is something the matter, Midoriya-kun?"

She gave him a small smile that made him both anxious and wanting to reach out and hold her.

"Can…can you help me with something?" Her voice was too small.

"Of course, Midoriya-kun," he said gently and came up to her. "What do you need?"

"I still don't want people to know," she whispered. "But I know I need to see a doctor. I just…I just don't want to see one at UA. People could find out…"

"I understand," he hesitantly reached out and touched her shoulder. "I'll take care of it," he promised, just as he had when he offered help for an abortion.

Because at this point, whatever she needed, he would help her anything.

"Thank you," she murmured, trembling.

She was supposed to be under his protection and he hadn't even known he'd failed at that until it was too late.

"It's the least I can do," he said, hiding his regret.

Then he took a deep breath. "In the meantime, I can get you some prenatal vitamins. I can bring them to you tomorrow morning."

"It's a UA day," she reminded him.

"I can catch you at your station," he told her. "I'll drive over first thing and give them to you on the train."

Or he could take the train from Tokyo to Musutafu's stop, meet her there and also take the train with her to the stop near UA. He'll ride back to Tokyo after and then drive back to his Agency…

"That's…that's really out of your way, Sir," she looked up at him with wide, fragile green eyes and before he knew it, he'd had his hands carefully cupping her face.

"I wasn't able to look out for you before. Let me do better now."

She nodded slowly and he dared to give her a rare smile. "I suppose since we'll be ending up meeting more casually, we should call on each other more familiarly in public as civilians…Izuku," he tested out.

He admitted the red spreading across her freckled cheeks was fetching.

"Then M-Mirai-san," she stammered out cutely.

He inwardly paused, having expected her to choose to call him 'Sasaki-san', but…that wasn't bad either.

"May I see your phone?" he requested then and she handed it over questioningly. He programmed his number in. "If you are in need of something, no matter what it is, please call. Even if it's something you are craving for," he told her grimly.

"O-okay," her blush became more prominent.

"I mean it," he insisted. "No matter what, no matter when, call or text me."

"Even if it's at midnight?" she laughed lightly.

"Even then," he said and she stared up at him wonderingly.

But he meant every word.

He'd just dropped Izuku off to her dorms and was about to head back to his car, when he was stopped by a surprising person.

"Mirai, please wait."

He froze up before reluctantly facing his former friend. "Toshinori," he acknowledged.

The thin man stood near him, looking solemn. "I wanted to thank you for telling me what happened to Midoriya-kun, despite how much it could have upset her at you."

"She needs the support and I know I can't give it to her," he admitted.

Toshinori cracked a smile. "I don't think you give yourself enough credit. I believe you can. You've already helped her so much."

He felt relieved and hoped that really is the case.

"But I was hoping you could help a little more?"

Mirai kept the confusion off his face and nodded slowly.

"She doesn't want to see Chiyo-sensei or anyone at UA. I was hoping you could help convince her?"

Oh. That help. Mirai pushed his glasses up, suddenly feeling awkward.

"Actually, she and I already talked about this," he revealed. "She doesn't want anyone to know, so she doesn't want to be seen at UA. I've already arranged alternate means for her," he said, having not delayed in setting things up as soon as she'd asked him.

Toshinori looked surprised. "Is that so? And you already handled it? I…Thank you, Mirai. You really have done so much. Can I ask when the appointment is and where?"

He gave a quick nod, knowing Mid —Izuku wouldn't mind Toshinori knowing any details.

"Tomorrow evening after her schooling, at Ootori Medical. I was going to let her know when I go to see her at the Musutafu stop, on the train to hand her prenatal vitamins to her."

Toshinori looked caught off guard. "That really is a lot, Mirai. And you say you can't support her?" he lightly teased the younger man. Mirai's cheeks grew red. "Thank you for going out of your way to set all this up and so quickly, and even take time out of your morning to give her what she needs. Ootori Medical is outside her and family's insurance though; can I give you my information to cover things? And just exactly when in the evening?"

Mirai awkwardly cleared his throat. "I…I already looked into her coverage and ended up setting everything up with mine," he admitted. "And I had already been planning on driving her there."

Then again, maybe it'd be better and Izuku would be more comfortable —

Toshinori gave a boisterous laugh. "My, Mirai. Now I definitely can't believe you when you say you can't support Midoriya-kun! God, you're acting like a new father!"

Mirai grew flustered and stammered out something, but Toshinori just kept chuckling at him.
