Candace sat on her bed frowning as Jason paced back and forth in her dorm.
"How could you do this? I mean after all we've been through!"
Candace was confused. "What are you talking about? I haven't done anything!"
Jason scoffed. "I heard you! You answered me and I heard you flirting with some guy!"
Candace's eyes widened and she opened her mouth but no words came out.
"Just tell me one thing..." he walked to her and nealed next to her. "Did you sleep with him?"
Candace stared incredulously "What no! Of course not! Look I guess I picked up by accident but I was at a party that I didn't wanna go to by the way but my roommate insisted I go with her. Also, I was drinking so maybe you heard some things but I swear I didn't cheat on you"
Jason stared at her for a few seconds. He sighed. "Okay I believe you babe. Just be careful at those parties."
"So" Candace nodded and smiled. "You came all this way for me?"
He nodded. "Ofcourse babe. I don't wanna lose you...especially to some snobby college guy."
Candace took his face in her hands and kissed him. "Don't worry, you're the one I love"
He smiled and kissed her and she kissed him back. It started to get heated as he gently pushed her back so he was on top of her. He was gonna take it further but the door swung open.
"Candace I'm ba-OH! Shit I'm sorry!" Vanessa covered her eyes as they flew apart.
"Vanessa! No it's fine um come in"
"Sorry to interrupt," she said sheepishly.
"No it's fine um you remember my boyfriend Jason right? He surprised me with a visit"
"Oh how sweet" Vanessa said putting her backpack down on her bed.
"Yes I was actually just leaving. I'll be in town for a few days so I'll see you tomorrow?"
Candace nodded. "Sure. Oh! I almost forgot I have a project to work on tomorrow with my classmate...maybe after that?"
"Well why don't I just join you?"
Candace blinked with hesitation. "Are you sure? It'll probably be boring..."
"I don't mind. I'd love to see you do your college thing plus we can grab breakfast first"
Candace gave a tight smile and nodded. "Okay... yeah!...great"
He smiled and kissed her again. "Alright I'll call you in the morning"
"Okay" Candace said smiling but inside she was freaking out. Once he left Candace let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.
"Wow" Vanessa said, twirling a piece of licorice in between her fingers.
"What?" Cadence asked getting back into her bed.
"Nothing...I can just tell this will be an interesting semester..."
Candace rolled her eyes and popped in her earbuds. "Okay. Goodnight"
...
Candace woke up in a cold sweat. She was breathing heavy and felt a pleasurable throbbing in between her legs. She remembered the dream so vividly. It was passionate and hot andânot her boyfriend. The blonde hair and blue eyes that kept flashing through her mind told her so. She looked over at a sleeping Vanessa on the other side of the room and sighed, running her fingers through her hair. She quietly got out of bed and headed to the shower to cool herself off.
What the hell? She thought to herself as the cool water engulfed her. "Why is this happening?" Jason Jason Jason! She kept repeating over and over In her head. Maybe it's just because of the newenvironment. She thought to herself. Yeah that has to be it...Jason is here for a few days and these weird feelings for Jeremy will just go away...yeah. Definitely.
Once she was cooled off she got out and looked at the clock. It was 4am but she didn't think she'd be able to go back to sleep. Instead she got back on her bed and opened her laptop and put her earphones in as she listened to some music and worked on some homework to distract herself.
Eventually she dozed off and was awakened by her alarm. The large pixelated 9am flashed on her alarm clock and she yawned and hit the snooze button. Vanessa seemed to sleep through the annoying noise and was still knocked out. Candace got out of bed and stretched her arms out wide before grabbing her phone. She was supposed to grab breakfast with Jason at 10. She had already showered so she just brushed her teeth then threw on some jeans and a pink power puff girls crop top along with a jean jacket just in case it was a bit chilly. It was starting to get pretty cold and she remembered she needed to go shopping for more sweaters. Her phone buzzed and it was Jason asking her where she wanted to meet. She responded and grabbed her bag before leaving the room. She soon arrived at a nearby diner called Lucille's where they arranged to meet. It was crowded with students this morning and she looked around. She spotted Jason sitting at a table near the back with 2 cups of coffee. She walked over to him and he smiled and stood up and kissed her.
"Morning babe"
"Morning," She responded.
"You look nice," he said, eyeing her up and down.
She smiled. "Thanks babe"
"I got you some coffee"
"Thanks" she said, taking the coffee in her hands.
The waitress approached them and took their orders. They both just ordered the basic pancakes, eggs and bacon. The waitress nodded and left and She turned her attention back to Jason.
"So how is it back home? Anything new? The boys haven't done anything outrageous right?"
he scoffed. "Cmon it's Phineas and Ferb we're talking about here...Ofcourse they did something outrageous."
Candace shook her head but smiled. "I'm actually starting to miss those guys..."
"they miss you too...I do as well I wish you weren't so far away "
Candace frowned. "I know babe but this is my dream school and I'll be back soon for Christmas break"
he sighed and before he could say anything the food came. Candace nodded politely at the waitress and began to dig in.
At 11 they were just about done and she got a text from Jeremy.
"Hey let's meet at the club classroom I have a great idea for our scoop"
Candace sent a response and signaled the waitress so they could pay.
"Alright we're meeting my partner soon so let's go" she said and Jason nodded.
They made it to the journalism building and to the club's classroom and Jeremy was already there. Candace all of a sudden tensed up because she hadn't told Jeremy about Jason yet. Whelp, guess now will have to be the time. They stepped into the classroom and Jeremy looked up and saw her and smiled. His smile faltered when Jason came in behind her.
"Hey Candace...and guest"
"Hey Jeremy. Um, Jason, this is my classmate Jeremy." Jason nodded at him "and Jeremy this is Jason my-"
"her boyfriend" he said, interrupting her with a smirk.
If Jeremy was shocked or disappointed he did a good job of hiding it. He just nodded slowly.
"Great. Well Um nice to meet you. Candace I have some things to show you."
Candace nodded. "Okay great. Babe you can have a seatâanywhere I guess" she said gesturing to the many seats in the classroom.
She followed Jeremy to the front of the class where he had a laptop. And his phone.
"So...Um I was going through facegram last night and I saw some pretty interesting photos and videos from that frat party we went to the other day.
He clicked on one of the videos and it seemed normal at first just a bunch of people dancing and drinking. But then you could see a girl pass out. And most people kept dancing while 2 people tried helping her. He clicked on a facegram page where a girl testified that she had a drug slipped into her drink at a frat party and the comments blew up with similar stories.
"Wow," Candace said.
"Isn't that kind of what happened to you? Your drink got spiked as well. You're just lucky I was there to-"
"what? Someone spiked your drink?" Jason said angrily.
"Jason it's fine Jeremy-"
"It's not fine, Candace! That's why I don't want you going to college parties"
Candace scoffed and Jeremy glared at the guy.
"Hey man she's grown and can make her own decisions. She got home safely alright?"
Jason glared at Jeremy, starting to remember his voice. "Wait a minute. You're the guy who was flirting with her aren't you?"
"Jason let's talk about this later" she said when Jason stood up.
"No Candace this guy was flirting with my girlfriend"
"Well it's not like she mentioned you" Jeremy mumbled.
"What was that college boy?" He said shoving Jeremy. He tried looking bigger than Jeremy even though they were pretty much the same height and Jason was only a bit more muscular because of his physical job.
"Hey! Stop it!" She said pulling Jason away from Jeremy before Jeremy could retaliate.
"You should go," she said angrily.
"What? You're kicking me out? What about him!"
"Jeremy didn't do anything wrong, he protected me at that party and we have work to do. You're just being a jerk right now so just go and- and I'll see you later okay?"
Jason rolled his eyes and turned to leave. On his way out he kicked a desk causing Candace to flinch. There was an awkward silence and Candace turned to Jeremy embarrassed.
"I'm so sorry about that"
Jeremy shook his head. "It's fine...seems like his bark is bigger than his bite"
Candace nodded. "He really is a nice guy...he's just protective"
"uh huh...well I just wish you would've told me about him."
She looked guilty and nodded. "I know. I tried to tell you but things kept on getting in the way. I really do like you Jeremy but-"
"It's Fine Candace I obviously misread this" he said gesturing between them. "Let's just focus on our project"
Candace nodded although her heart was breaking. She didn't want any of this to happen. "Okay...so frat party spiked drinks is our topic?"
"Something like that. I was thinking we could do a general frat party sexual harassment article and the drinks are just one way it can happen"
Candace nodded. "And we have a ton of evidence right here," she said, gesturing to the computer.
"We just have to message some of these girls and make sure it's okay if we do our assignment on their stories. We can change their names if they want. But interviews would really help"
Candace nodded, writing this stuff down in her notebook. "Great! We're gonna ace this forsure"
...
Candace and Jeremy had worked on their project for about 2 hours more before deciding to call it.
"I think we have a solid case here. Now I'm starving." Jeremy said, zipping up his bag.
Candace smiled. "Well we did say we were gonna get lunch after..."
Jeremy rubbed the back of his neck. "We'll yeah but that was before...I mean would your boyfriend be okay with that?"
Candace shrugged. "Probably not but he can be a bit irrational sometimes; besides, it's not like I need his permission for everything I do"
Jeremy came closer to her so he was inches from her face. "I mean if you were my girl..wouldn't want to be away from you for even a second..."
Candace blushed and gasped slightly at the unexpected comment. Jeremy smirked and stepped back. "Alright then...lead the way"
