Chapter 2: Open Your Mind
[Kristal is recapping the events of the last episode, standing in front of the welcome sign.]
Kristal: Last time on Disventure Camp… fourteen new participants signed up to spend two weeks at our horrible camp and some friendships and rivalries began to form. In the first challenge, the Orange Team was in the lead, but thanks to Riya's incredible acting skills, Oliver lost the challenge for his team. In the end, as expected, he became the first eliminated. However, he convinced me- I mean, I let him stay as an intern.
Oliver: That's right!
Kristal: Shut up Oliver!
[Kristal aggressively pointed in Oliver's direction, then turned back to face the camera.]
Kristal: As I was saying, there are thirteen left and another contestant will be kicked out this episode. This time, forever! Find out who it'll be, here at… Disventure Camp!
[The intro plays.]
[The Green Team's cabin is shown. Hunter wakes up the earliest out of anyone on his team, except for Tess, who is going to the lake.]
Hunter: Hey, wait for me!
[Hunter runs up to Tess, and she makes a guilty face.]
Tess: Oh, uh, sorry. I forgot.
Hunter: No problem!
[The two began walking, with Hunter immediately starting conversation.]
Hunter: So, you like drawing, huh? When'd you start to draw in that notebook of yours?
Tess: I started drawing when I was three, it was a way for me to escape from life.
Hunter: Oh? Escape? Is everything okay?
[Tess's eyes start to widen.]
Tess: Uh, yeah! Totally…
Hunter: That's… good to hear…
Hunter (confessional): I don't wanna assume things, but it seems that everything is not okay with Tess…
Tess (confessional): Sure, Hunter's nice, and he seems like a good guy, but I don't think I can tell him stuff about my past yet! For all I know, he could be using me for it, this is a reality show after all…
[The two finally arrive at the lake, however, Tess seems a bit sad. Hunter picks up on this and is concerned.]
Hunter: Tess, what's wrong?
[Tess took a deep breath before saying…]
Tess: Look, Hunter, I know you're a nice person and I know you want to get to know me, but, in a reality show where only one person can win, it's inevitable that we will have to betray each other. We can still talk, but at the end of this we won't be friends…
[Hunter's expression visibly changed from concerned to sad.]
Hunter: But- okay, sorry for bothering you…
[He walked off while Tess made a guilty face.]
Tess (confessional): I feel so bad pushing away Hunter like that! But, I know it's for the better. I'd rather end our friendship sooner than later, where it would be much more painful for the both of us…
[The camera cuts to the Orange Team sitting at the dining hall eating breakfast. James sits next to Aiden with a smile on his face.]
Aiden: James, what's the deal with you? You couldn't stop smiling since the moment you woke up, haha!
[Aiden playfully punched James in the shoulder.]
James: I just reached 1,000,000 followers!
[Aiden looked less cheerful, rather, annoyed.]
Aiden: Oh, that's nice to hear…
Aiden (confessional): Spending time with James these past few days has been great! When he's not talking about TikTok or anything like that… I just wish he could move on from it and focus on the present…
James (confessional): Since I reached 1,000,000 followers, I have to carry through with my promise. I know my fans probably dared me to do something embarrassing, but I don't care. This was my life goal!
[James takes out his phone and checks his post featuring Aiden, and scrolls to the most liked comment.]
James (confessional): Let's see… I have to…
[James's eyes widen in shock, and quickly puts his phone away.]
[The camera cuts to the Green Team, minus Hunter and Tess.]
[Kristal starts to speak on the loudspeaker to announce the second challenge.]
Kristal: Attention campers, your second challenge is about to start. There's no need to leave the dining hall as the challenge will be held there. However, Green Team, you are a couple members short, you have five minutes to find them.
Yul: Are you kidding?! One of you better find them now!
Ally: I'll go!
[Ally walks back to the cabins, to find Hunter sitting on the picnic table, looking very upset.]
Ally: Hunter! What's wrong?
Hunter: It's just, I thought me and Tess were friends, and now, she just said that we shouldn't be friends out of nowhere! I get her point, but, it still hurt to hear…
Ally: Hunter… I'm sorry to hear that…
Hunter: It's fine, I know Tess was looking out for both of us. How's your experience at camp so far?
Ally: Honestly, I haven't branched out to many people yet, so I play on my Nintendo Switch to pass the time.
Hunter: That sounds really cool! I also love gaming!
Ally: Really? Which games?
Hunter: Well, my favorite would have to be Minecraft. You?
Ally: No way, me too!
Ally (confessional): I'm glad I was able to cheer up Hunter and help him move on from Tess! I'm sure we can become great friends, or, maybe even more than that… haha!
[Ally began to blush.]
[Ally and Hunter soon walked back to the dining hall, Hunter seemed much more happy and the two were geeking over their love of Minecraft. Tess also returned and was sitting on the far end of her team's table.]
Yul: Took you two long enough!
[The camera cuts to the production tent, where Kristal and Oliver are.]
Kristal: Are we ready?
Oliver: All set, boss!
Kristal: Perfect!
[Kristal is about to walk out of the tent, but then she remembers something and pauses.]
Kristal: Hey, Oliver?
Oliver: Yeah? What's on your mind?
Kristal: You see… I want to do my best to look like a professional host on camera, but I feel like I get a little…
[Kristal hesitated to find the right word.]
Kristal: Excited, sometimes, and I end up saying inappropriate things.
[Kristal shrugged nervously.]
Oliver: Oh?
Kristal: One of the reasons I let you stay here is that seeing a poor and pathetic intern so humiliated and worn out everyday, will help me remember what not to do for others. I don't want to lose my humanity just to get some ratings…
Oliver: Yep!
Kristal: I want you to tell me every time I say or do something that makes me look unprofessional.
Oliver: Sure thing Ms. Kristal!
Oliver (confessional): I know Kristal can be a bit… much sometimes, but at least she's aware of it and wants to change. She's given me such a great opportunity and I will do anything it takes to keep it! In fact I'm going to bake a cake for us to celebrate a new chapter in my life!
[Kristal and Oliver soon walked into the dining hall, where Oliver put his cake batter into the oven.]
Kristal: Good morning! I hope you guys got to know each other very well because you guys will need it. Today's challenge is very simple. I will read out an embarrassing fact about all of you, one at a time, then, members of the opposing team will have to guess who it belongs to. If your team guesses it right, they get a point. If they guess wrong, the other team will get a point! First team to twelve points wins! Make sense?
Aiden: Uh, how did you get these facts anyway?
Kristal: I have my sources…
Oliver: Pssst! Less suspicious!
Kristal: I meant… you guys filled it out on the registration form!
Aiden: Really? I don't seem to remember one!
[Aiden says that sarcastically as he crosses his arms.]
Karol: Who cares? Just get on with it!
Kristal: Fine, first question this one is for the Green Team. Who on the Orange Team auditioned for the previous season but was rejected for being "uninteresting"? You have one minute to guess.
[The Green Team leaned in to huddle up.]
Yul: This is so hard! All of them are uninteresting!
Kai: You shouldn't say that about people. They all have their unique and special characteristics. Especially, Maggy, her soul is so-
Yul: Hahaha! You mean that circus freak?! As if!
Kai: Y'know, the things someone says about another, is a reflection of what they think of themselves deep down.
[The team all looked at Yul.]
Yul: Eheheheheh… I don't know what he's talking about.
Connor: Guys, no more fighting! We have to guess correctly! Who is Kristal talking about?
Riya: Hm, James is an influencer so I doubt he would be uninteresting,
Ally: Karol is… Karol,
Connor: Kai said that Maggy was unique so I imagine it wouldn't be her,
Yul: Why are you listening to him?!
Connor: I don't know, Kai seems like a sensible guy.
Yul: Sensible… yeah, right!
Connor: I don't like your attitude right now, Yul.
[Connor crossed his arms.]
Yul: Why is everyone against me! Alliance, back me up!
[Hunter looked at Connor and Kai, but was hesitant to speak against them.]
[However, just as Hunter was about to speak, Kristal's timer went off.]
Kristal: Green Team, please choose who you think the fact belongs to.
Kai: My senses are telling me to select-
Yul: Maggy!
Kristal: Sorry, that's wrong… one point for the Orange Team!
[Everyone on the Orange Team cheered until…]
Kristal: Now to reveal who it really is…
Lake: Wait, you never said you would reveal-
Kristal: Surprise, surprise, it was Aiden!
[Everyone turned to look at Aiden.]
Aiden: Okay, that I have no problem admitting, there are worse secrets.
Kristal: Oh, don't worry, there are definitely worse secrets… Next question, Orange Team, who on the Green Team has been an extra in fifty movies, but has never been credited?
James: Oh, gee, I wonder who that could be… I'm thinking… Riya!
Kristal: Correct!
Riya: What?! Could you make it any more obvious?! You gave us such a hard question but asked that to the other team?!
[The Green Team was shocked at Riya's sudden outburst.]
Riya: Sorry, it's just a lot of built up anger from never being credited…
[Riya shyly put her head down, to which Connor looked at her and felt quite sorry for her.]
Kristal: Green Team, who's first 500 followers were bots?
Hunter: Well, if it has to do with followers, then it must be James!
Kristal: Correct! One point for the Green Team.
[James's face turned red in embarrassment, and Aiden put a hand on his shoulder.]
James: What?! She's lying! My followers are all 100% human.
Kristal: Ha! Yeah, right!
James: You're just jealous that I'm more popular than you!
Kristal: Shut-
[Kristal then looked at Oliver, who put a finger to his lips to signal Kristal to be quiet.]
Kristal: Okay, whatever, Orange Team, who made a bunch of little kids cry?
Rosa María: I wouldn't be surprised if it was Yul…
Kristal: Incorrect! The real answer is Ally!
[Hunter was very surprised and looked at Ally.]
Ally: Hey! That's not fair, you didn't tell everyone that the only reason I made them cry was because they were using hacks!
[Kristal rolled her eyes.]
Kristal: Green Team, who has never had their first kiss?
[Kai looked at the other team, and by their expressions, he could tell who it was, but he didn't want to embarrass them in front of anybody.]
Connor: Kai, do you have something to say?
Kai: Uh…
[He paused for a moment then whispered something in Connor's ear.]
Connor: Oh, um, Kristal? We choose Maggy.
Kristal: Correct!
Yul: Ha! Knew it! No one wants to kiss her because she's that ugly!
Rosa María: Take that back!
Yul: Why should I? It's the truth!
Rosa María: Because, you are going to get your butt kicked if you don't shut up right this second-
[Maggy couldn't take it anymore. She soon ran off into the woods crying.]
[Everyone was in shock.]
Kai (confessional): I can't believe I just did that! I whispered it to Connor which made Maggy get made fun of, just for trying to win a stupid game! Ugh, what have I done?!
[Kai tries to walk out after Maggy, but Yul grabs his hand.]
Yul: Don't you dare try to-
[Kai breaks free, and runs after her.]
Rosa María: Don't you dare say anything like that to Maggy again! I swear to god I'm going to kick your-
[Rosa María was going to approach Yul to attack him, but was held back by Lake and Aiden.]
Kristal: Settle down, everyone! We have to finish the challenge!
[The scene cut to Maggy crying in the woods until Kai came up to her.]
Maggy: Why are you here? If you're going to admit that you only defended me as some prank then just say it…
Kai: No, Maggy, I owe you an apology…
Maggy: Wha- what?
Kai: I've felt that I've made a mistake…
Maggy: How so?
[Maggy wiped a tear from her eye.]
Kai: I knew from your face that you hadn't had your first kiss, and I… told my team about it, which led to them shouting out the answer, which led to Yul-
Maggy: It's okay, don't worry. You couldn't have stopped Yul from telling the truth…
Kai: What? No! That's not the truth! Maggy, you are as beautiful as one can be! And Yul just can't see it because he's too much of a jerk!
Maggy: You… really think I'm beautiful?
Kai: Of course! I'm surprised more people didn't notice!
Maggy (confessional): Nobody has ever told me that… Kai makes me feel… loved, like no one else has…
[The camera shifts back to the challenge.]
Kristal: Orange Team, who on the Green Team made their psychologist have to go to the psychologist?
[The Orange Team, minus Maggy, all leaned in to huddle up.]
Karol: This is obvious! It's Tess! Who else would need to see a psychologist?
Lake: We shouldn't judge based on appearances…
Karol: I don't care! I'm choosing Tess!
Kristal: Correct! It's now three points for the Orange Team, and two points for the Green Team!
[Tess looked very embarrassed, and Hunter wanted to comfort her. However, the challenge was starting up again.]
Kristal: Green Team, who on the Orange Team has a criminal record of shoplifting?
Hunter: Could it be James, as a dare from one of his fans?
Connor: That sounds… plausible.
Hunter: We choose-
Yul: Rosa María!
Kristal: Correct!
[Everyone on the Green Team looked mad at Yul for suddenly interrupting, but they were also glad they received the point.]
Yul: A latina stealing, why am I not surprised?
Rosa María: A mother will do anything for her daughter…
[Everyone glared at Yul, except Kristal, who seemed to be enjoying this quite a bit.]
Kristal: Orange Team, who made their ex get plastic surgery, then broke up with her because she did it wrong?
Rosa María: Nobody is messed up enough to do that except for Yul!
Kristal: Correct!
[Everyone glared at Yul again.]
Yul: Yeah, yeah, I know you all envy me and wish you could do something as generous as me!
Kristal: Sure, keep dreaming, buddy. Anyway, the score is four to three, with the Orange Team leading. Green Team, who on the Orange Team wears a wig?
Connor: Okay guys, let's think about this, which one of them looks most likely to be bald?
Riya: Hmm, I've seen a lot of wigs on the movie sets I'm on!
Connor: Great! So which hair looks most like a wig?
Riya: I hate to reveal people's secrets, but… Lake…
Kristal: Correct again!
Yul: Hahahahahahaha! Baldy-
[A spoon soon hit Yul in the face. Rosa María then smirked.]
Rosa María: That's what you get, idiot!
[Aiden put a hand on Lake's shoulder.]
Aiden: I'm so sorry, Lake!
Lake: Don't worry, Aiden, my hair only fell out because of the stress of my homework. So, if you think about it, it was for a good cause!
[Lake smirked innocently while Aiden looked very concerned.]
Rosa María: Can we stop this already?
Kristal: Hahaha! No.
Oliver: I think Rosa's right, we should stop…
[Kristal rolled her eyes.]
Kristal: How about this, I'm going to cut the amount of points needed to win in half. Then the challenge can be shortened?
Oliver: Sounds good!
Kristal: Orange Team, who uploaded inappropriate photos on the internet just to promote their channel?
[The Orange Team huddled up.]
Aiden: Hmm… we know Riya, Yul, and Connor have social media, so it must be one of them…
James: Good thinking, buddy! However, Connor probably doesn't even know how to upload a photo and Yul isn't desperate enough for fame, which leaves… Riya!
Kristal: Incorrect!
James: What?!
Kristal: It was actually Ally!
Hunter: You never told me you have a channel!
Ally: Yeah, it's on Twitch. I wasn't getting a lot of views so…
[Ally's face turned increasingly red.]
Ally (confessional): Ugh! Why did I say that?!
[Ally hits her face.]
Kristal: The score is four to four. Let's see if this next question can change anything. Green Team, who on the other team has sent five boys to the hospital?
Yul: It's obviously the criminal! Have you seen what she did to me?! If anything, she should be arrested right now for assaulting someone of higher status!
[Connor rolled his eyes and turned to the other members of his team.]
Connor: So, who do you guys think it could be?
Ally: I don't think any of them seem violent except for… Maggy. She must get bullied a lot, so it would make sense that she would beat up her bullies.
Hunter: Nice thinking, Ally! We choose Maggy!
[Ally blushed at Hunter's complement.]
Kristal: Correct! Now the Green Team leads with the score being five to four! Now, the question for the Orange Team is… who's grandpa died within a week ago?
Karol: It's obviously Tess! Why else would she need therapy?
Lake: Again, I don't think we should judge-
James: Who cares? It worked last time!
Karol: We choose Tess!
Kristal: Wrong! The correct answer was Ally!
Hunter: Ally! I had no idea! I'm so sorry!
Ally: It's… fine… being here distracts me from it…
Kristal: Green Team, who on the other team had sex reassignment surgery?
[Everyone gasped.]
Connor: Does anyone have any idea who it could be?
Riya: No…
Yul: It's Maggy! She's practically built like a boy!
Connor: Shut up, Yul! You've done nothing but hinder us today!
Yul: Oh, look who's talking! You had to rely on everyone else! I was the reason we got a lot of the questions right!
Connor: And look where that got you! You're the one with the broken nose!
Yul: I wouldn't go that far, old man! You'll have plenty of time to decompose in a retirement home once I get you eliminated!
Connor: With what allies? Nobody likes you!
Kristal: Green Team, time's up! Do you have your answer?
[Everyone on the Green Team was speechless as they spent all their time arguing.]
Kristal: Very well, no point for you! The correct answer was-
[The oven Kristal was standing behind soon exploded, burning the card as well as ruining Kristal's hair and clothes.]
Kristal: Ugh! No! My clothes!
Yul: Just tell us who it is already!
Kristal: Are you blind?! The cards burned up and ruined my beautiful clothes!
Yul: Beautiful? Sure…
[Yul made a sarcastic joke but nobody laughed.]
Yul: What's the deal with you all? This is why I hate Canada! If I was back in Korea, everyone would've laughed at my hilarious zingers!
[Rosa María rolled her eyes and got up.]
Rosa María: I think that's a sign to stop.
Kristal: What?! No! This game is going to continue no matter what!
Aiden: I agree with Rosa! Things have gotten way out of hand!
[The two started to walk out of the cafeteria, with everyone else following.]
Kristal: You all can't just leave! Come back here!
[Oliver held Kristal back from chasing all the campers.]
Oliver: I think we all had enough today. It's best you don't fetch them back…
Kristal: Shut up! I'm going back to change!
[Kristal angrily walked away as Oliver looked guilty.]
Oliver (confessional): Well, to say the challenge went badly, would be an understatement. If Kristal found out that it was because of my cake that the challenge ended, I would've been fired my first day on the job!
Aiden (confessional): Okay, I was the one who got the surgery, but I cannot be more thankful that the oven blew up! Back home, people called me a weirdo and bullied me to no end… my parents aren't the most accepting people either… If it ever gets out that I used to be a girl, I can kiss that million dollars goodbye! I need to cover this up!
[It soon became the late afternoon. Connor was sitting on his team's picnic table by himself until Riya joined him.]
Riya: Hey Connor!
Connor: Hey Riya…
Riya: You seem down, what's wrong?
Connor: It's just… I felt that last argument with Yul really messed our team up, y'know?
Riya: Hey, we don't blame you! Nobody likes Yul, and you were the only person to stand up to him, I really appreciate that! Not to mention you also led the team really well. We even won because of your leadership! Sometimes an adult role is needed to organize and calm down the youngest.
Connor: Adult role…?
Riya: Yeah, what about it?
Connor: It's just… I've never felt so out of place before.
Riya: I think I know how you feel… I've spent my whole life in India, trying to get my acting career off the ground, and here I am now, on the other side of the world away from the people I love.
Connor: Wow, and how do you deal with it?
Riya: I just try to be myself, because pretending to be someone else will never make anyone know the real you.
[Connor paused for a moment, thinking about what Riya said.]
Connor: Pretending to be someone else… sorry, I have to go. Nice talking to you, Riya. And thanks for the advice.
[Connor walked away as Riya waved goodbye.]
[Meanwhile, in the girls cabin of the Green Team, Ally took two Nintendo Switches to play with Hunter. While she was walking out, she passed Tess, who seemed more soulless than usual. Ally didn't know what to say, so she just ignored her and walked right past into the boys side of the cabin.]
Hunter: Hey Ally, are you okay after what happened?
Ally: Yeah, it's fine… I know my grandpa would've wanted me to continue on. He was the one who got me into gaming in the first place.
Hunter: Wow, that's really cool! I'm sure he must be proud of you for being so strong!
Ally: Yeah… anyway, enough about that. I'm totally gonna kick your butt in Call of Duty!
Hunter: You wish! It is on!
[Yul sat on the bed across from the two, looking at both of them.]
Yul (confessional): I've spent all day wondering who could be my fourth alliance member, I think Ally wouldn't make a bad addition! Sure, I'll ditch them in case I see someone better, but for now, she could work!
[Yul walked up to Hunter and Ally.]
Yul: Hey, Ally!
[Ally turned to see Yul.]
Yul: Y'know, me, your little friend, and the depresso expresso have an alliance going, and I'm giving you the offer of joining us. If you do, we can vote out whoever we want on the team and we can be guaranteed to merge!
Ally: Uh…
Ally (confessional): Yul isn't my favorite person here, but he does make a good point. So if I join him, I can for sure increase my chances of winning! Sign me up!
Ally: Yeah, sure!
[Ally and Yul shook hands.]
Yul: Very well…
[The camera shifted to the Orange Team, where Aiden and James were relaxing in the boys' side of the cabin. James was mid-sentence until he saw Aiden zoning out]
James: Are you okay, Aiden?
Aiden: Oh, yeah, just a little shaken up from the challenge…
James: Why is that? Nothing embarrassing was revealed about you!
Aiden (confessional): Shoot! So much for trying to keep a secret!
Aiden: I know, it's just- I… um- was concerned for you! I was worried that it would damage your reputation!
James: Wow, thanks for the support, buddy!
[Aiden smiled in relief but was quickly interrupted by Lake and Rosa María laughing on the other side of the cabin.]
[Maggy shyly stepped through the cabin door before the other two noticed her.]
Rosa María: Maggy! You're back! I'm so sorry about what happened in the challenge, I won't ever let-
Maggy: No, no, it's fine. Kai comforted me about it and I feel much better about myself… I think I feel more confident in myself because of him…
[Maggy began to blush.]
Lake: That's great, Maggy!
[Karol busted through the door of the boys' cabin, telling James and Aiden to meet her outside.]
Aiden: What's up, Karol?
Karol: I have an offer to make with you guys…
James: Well, what is it?
Karol: Those three girls have gotten awfully close these past three days, I say we form an alliance to get rid of one of them, are you boys in?
Aiden: Well, if it's what we need to do to survive, then count me in!
[Karol and Aiden looked at James.]
Karol: What about you?
[James looked a bit hesitant.]
James (confessional): I don't know if this alliance is the best choice for my… offer, but I do have to act like everything is normal. Wish me luck, fans.
James: Uh… okay, but, there are three of us and three of them? How will we ensure that one of them can be eliminated?
Aiden: You're right, we can't… I guess our best option is to beat one of them in a tiebreaker. But who?
[The sky became very dark. The Orange Team sat at the elimination area.]
Kristal: Peaceful afternoon for the Orange Team, huh? Well it won't be so peaceful anymore when one of you will leave this camp! Get voting everyone!
[The campers all had a montage of who to vote. Everyone looked certain in their choice except James.]
Kristal: Very well, I've received the votes. The person with the most votes will have to leave the camp and take the bus of losers.
[Everyone looked nervous as Kristal read the first vote.]
Kristal: First vote, Rosa María.
[Rosa María made a confused face.]
Kristal: Second vote, Karol.
[Karol rolled her eyes.]
Kristal: Third vote, Karol again. So far, it's one vote for Rosa María, and two votes for Karol.
Rosa María: How did I get a vote? What did I do?
[Karol laughed at her, which made Rosa María even more confused.]
Kristal: Fourth vote, Rosa María.
[Rosa María began to get quite nervous.]
Kristal: Fifth vote, Karol.
[Karol still did not react as she was confident she could beat Rosa María in a tiebreaker.]
Kristal: Sixth vote and second person voted out of Disventure Camp…

…
Kristal: …Karol, I'm sorry but you are eliminated.
Karol: What?! How am I out?! Me, Aiden, and James all voted for-
[Karol gasped.]
Karol: I knew it! One of you no good teenagers betrayed me! I should've never trusted you guys in the first place!
Aiden: Karol, believe me, why would I betray the pact?! It wouldn't make sense!
Karol: It wouldn't make sense for James either! No matter what, one of you did it! I'm leaving!
[As Karol angrily stormed out of the camp, an eagle flew down and landed on her shoulder, which cheered Karol up a great deal.]
Karol: Well, at least I don't have to worry about you voting me out!
[The bus arrived, which Karol got in and the bus drove away.]
Aiden (confessional): I know I didn't vote for Karol, and she certainly didn't do it herself, so it has to be James! I can't believe he would just betray us like that! I thought I could trust him, but apparently not! Guess you can't trust anyone here!
[Aiden angrily crossed his arms.]
James (confessional): I… didn't want to take away Aiden's trust for me like that, but, the dare was to… get Aiden to fall in love with me, and, in order to do that, I have to keep him close to me and only me. What? You think it's too mean? Well, deal with it! I am getting paid for it and I won't disappoint my fans!
[James approached Aiden as the Orange Team was walking back to the cabins.]
