Chapter 4

The New Resistance

Grime stood outside the town. He was watching for enemies.

After a while, Grime saw something in the distance. He brought out Barrel's Warhammer, preparing to fight whatever was coming.

As the thing got closer and closer to the town. Grime backed down a little. It wasn't a robot coming his way. It was a wagon pulled by someone. He still couldn't be too sure.

Once the wagon stopped, Grime cautiously walked closer. The driver got off. He revealed himself to be none other than Grime's brother, Dareth.

The two brothers approached each other. They hadn't been the best of friends, so they weren't that happy to see each other again. They still shook hands.

Percy and Braddock climbed out of the wagon. They weren't very happy to see Grime either. However, they both knew there was a worse threat out there, so there was no point in arguing now.

Grime led his brother and former companions to the center of the town. There, Sasha was training the citizens on how to use swords to fight the robots.

Once they were done, Sasha saw Grime coming in. She noticed that Grime wasn't alone.

When she realized two of the toads with Grime were Percy and Braddock, she felt a rush of emotions. The guilt she felt for putting them in danger, and the sadness she felt when they left.

Sasha ran over to her former friends crying. She wrapped them both in a tight hug.

"Percy, Braddock, I'm sorry for everything!" she cried. "I was a total bitch back then. I shouldn't have endangered you. I…"

"Sasha, it's okay," Percy interrupted.

"Yeah," Braddock added. "If we hadn't stopped your invasion, this wouldn't be happening."

"Don't beat yourselves up about it," Sasha assured them. "It doesn't change the fact that I used, lied to, and manipulated you and so many others to get what I wanted. I promise that from now on, I'm done with all of that."

Once they were done talking, Sasha and Grime led Dareth, Percy, and Braddock to the Plantar house.

"This place is nothing much but," Sasha told them. "I see why Anne calls this place home."

Dareth, Percy, and Braddock looked around the place. Percy noticed a painting above the fireplace. He could've sworn he saw a button on the painting.

"I'm gonna push it," he said, before pushing the button. "Bop."

The house started to shake.

"What's happening?" Braddock shouted.

After a few seconds, the fireplace opened up. Percy unknowingly opened up a secret passageway.

"This is perfect," Sasha smiled. "We can use this place as a base of operations. Andrias will be none the wiser."

Sasha and the toads ran out to show this to everyone.

However, when they ran out, horror awaited them.

Robots were attacking the town. While some of the robots were destroyed, it was clear there were too many for the townsfolk to handle.

Sasha brought out her swords and charged into battle. She slashed at every robot she could find. She helped up a few of the fallen civilians.

Grime hit Barrel's Warhammer on the ground, destroying all robots around him. Well, all except one.

One robot recovered. It tried to shoot Grime while he wasn't looking. Dareth snuck up behind it and sliced its head off with his sword.

Percy tried to pierce one of the robots. His sword barely did anything. Thankfully, Braddock snuck up from behind and finished the job.

Sasha and the toads all panted. The fight took a lot out of them. That's when they noticed a shadow looming over them.

They looked up to see Andrias's castle floating above the town. Sasha noticed the cannon was going to fire at the town.

"Fall back!" she shouted to everyone. "Fall back now!"

Sasha led everyone in the town into the Plantar house. She ordered them to go down into the secret passageway.

Thankfully, everyone made it down the secret passageway before the laser hit the town.

After a few minutes, Sasha went out to inspect.

Once she saw it was safe to come out, she gestured to everyone to come out.

When they came out of the passageway, they saw the town. Well, what was left of it.

The laser from Andrias' castle eradicated the town. It was lucky the houses and buildings were still standing. Unfortunately, they were all severely damaged. They weren't fit for living.

Everyone looked up to the sky. It had darkened a lot. The once sunny blue sky became a very cloudy gray sky. Everyone saw little flakes slowly floating down from the sky.

"Is it snowing?" Sasha wondered.

Grime caught some of the flakes on his tongue.

"No, it's ash," he replied.

Dareth noticed that the clouds were unnaturally dark. He noticed that they were coming from somewhere.

Everyone followed the clouds out of the town. They were led to a cliffside.

In the distance, they saw where the "clouds" came from. They were actually smoke being released into the atmosphere. They were coming from facilities scattered all throughout Amphibia.

Andrias' castle was in the center of it all, floating above everyone and everything.

This took me a bit longer to write than I expected. I knew what I wanted to do, but it was the execution that was the problem.

I was originally gonna have Dareth, Percy, and Braddock fight in the throne room with everyone else during the True Colors chapter, and then go with Sasha and Grime to Wartwood during the Turning Point chapter. In the end, I decided it'd work better if they came later.

I was also going to include a training montage, with Sasha singing "Dark Side of the Moon" from Mulan. There would've been a joke where Sasha didn't change a single lyric causing Grime to berate her. Sasha would've replied with, "I've been very busy" or something along those lines. I decided against it because it didn't feel right.

We also got to see something we should've seen in the actual show. Wartwood being destroyed and the Resistance finding the Plantar tunnels which would become their base of operations.

The last scene of Sasha and the Resistance standing on the cliff seeing all the factories and Andrias' castle above it all was inspired by the ending of Stranger Things 4. I figured this would make an awesome downer ending before we head back to Earth and see what Anne and Matt are up to.
