DISCLAIMER: this chapter on will reference the FIRRIB vs FIBRIR debate. I do not have a side. Rather, it is my headcannon that they switch colors to mess with people. I only bring up FIRRIB and FIBRIR to set up jokes.
Will
I was one of the many shocked when Soundwave was claimed by Apollo. He was a completely different species from another world, so he surely couldn't be a child of Apollo. Besides, both Athena and Hephaestus seemed like they fought him over who got to claim Soundwave, based on the conflicting symbols. However, rules were rules, and Soundwave was, until further notice, a "child" of Apollo.
"Wait, what?!" Clarise yelled, "That thing can't be a child of Apollo!"
"For whatever reason, Apollo claimed Soundwave, and Athena and Hephaestus wanted to claim him too. As such, he has the approval of three gods. Do you really want to argue with that?" Annabeth spat.
Another camper yelled, "That thing attacked us!"
"Soundwave is not a thing!" Nico roared, "besides, you attacked him! He was defending himself!"
"That thing doesn't belo-"
"SILENCE! Soundwave has been claimed as a champion of Apollo. So, as the gods say so, he does belong here, and we will treat him like a fellow camper. However difficult his size and biology might make it, we will regard him as a fellow demigod."
Chiron was able to get them to stop yelling. They still apprehensively glanced at Soundwave, but at least they weren't trying to attack him.
Chiron turned to me and Soundwave. "Will Solace, as head of the Apollo cabin, you will oversee Soundwave's welcome. As for you, Soundwave, could your minions return to your chest cavity?"
Soundwave responded, "They are not minions. They are minicons. Their names are Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, and Lazerbeak. The jaguar is Ravage, the condor is Lazerbeak, and the twins are Rumble and Frenzy. As well, I do not need a tour, as I am aware of camp from Annabeth and Percy's tours. However, if anything has been updated, or any information of value not contained in their memories comes up, then I would need to be notified."
"Well, that takes care of one thing. Now, Soundwave," I asked, "could you help me distinguish between the twins? I can't tell them apart for the life of me."
"Hey, Solace! It's easy to tell us apart!" the red one yelled.
"Yeah!" the blue one chimed in, "It's so easy we even came up with an acronym for it!"
The two twins, in sync, declared, "FIBRIR! Frenzy is blue, Rumble is red!"
"Thanks! That'll make it easier to tell the two of you apart."
They snickered when I turned around. I guessed it was a sign taped to my back by a Hermes camper.
Soundwave shook his head, "Rumble, Frenzy, please show respect to our head counselor. Now, return."
On command, all four of his minicons leaped up, transforming into massively oversized cassettes, and flew into Soundwave's open chest cavity, which I guess is a tape deck. Once all four were in, the door closed.
"Alright. Now, come with me, and I'll show you to your new cabin. By the way, since your cassettes could transform, could you turn into something, smaller? I don't think we can accommodate you otherwise."
"Negative. I previously had the ability to become a cassette recorder. However, I opted to gain a more practical alternate mode."
"Wait," a Hephaestus camper questioned, "how would you transforming into a cassette recorder help? Wouldn't you still be huge?"
Soundwave answered, "I was able to become smaller as a cassette recorder due to mass shifting, a process that allows Cybertronians to become items and vehicles much smaller or bigger than would be normal, such as guns."
"How does it work?"
"Our transformation cog, or t-cog, shrinks or grows our bodies to fit the size of our alternate modes."
"Whoa."
I asked, "Do you have any alternate mode that can realistically fit in without raising any suspicion? After all, I don't think the Mist hides you, and the people of this planet aren't really accustomed to giant robot aliens."
Soundwave answered, "I can transform into an automobile. It would reasonably fit in without much suspicion."
"Good. Now, don't transform yet, I still have to talk with you. We just needed to know what to do with you at night."
"Affirmative."
I turned to Nico as well. "By the way, you need to go back to the infirmary. You need rest."
"Okay, okay. I will."
"You better! Anyways, Soundwave, let's go."
I beckoned to Soundwave as I lead him to the campfire. It was kind of awkward to lead an apparently god-like being around. Even if he wasn't, he looked like he could kick me into the next city over on accident. He was massive, sleek, and menacing, yet held himself with a composure and assuredness I had never seen.
When we got to the campfire, I asked, "There's two things I'll have to ask you first. One, as Apollo campers, we lead sing-a-longs at the campfire in the afternoons. Can you sing?"
"Negative."
"Well, since you're a musician, can you at least play the music?"
"Negative."
"But you said-"
"I am a musician, however I play heavy metal and synth music. Therefore, I cannot participate in your campfire songs."
"Well, Okay. As for my second question, do you need anything to sustain yourself? Gasoline, electricity, anything?"
"I require energon to sustain myself, like all Cybertronians. Do not worry about finding energon, or creating a substitute, as I can synthesize energon from gasoline, coal, wind, solar, and hydro-electric energy sources."
"Cool, so that takes care of that. You still need to sit with the rest of the Apollo campers, just to let you know."
"Affirmative."
"Okay, so just follow me back to the cabin."
I lead Soundwave back to the cabin, passing by confised and startled campers on the way. Finally, we reached the cabin.
"This is where you will stay for the time being. By the way, can you transform so I can figure out where to put you?"
"Affirmative."
Upon my request, Soundwave began transforming, and it was unlike anything I had ever seen. Bit by bit, he folded into himself, with parts positioning themselves accordingly. His wings, limbs, and head disappeared, and he became a sleek, futuristic car.
It had blue paint with silver decals, tinted black windows, and cannons mounted on the top left and right corners of the vehicle. His legs became the front, the torso the top, and arms the sides. The speakers on his shoulders still showed on the sides of the car.
It took everything in me not to gawk at the impressive vehicle. I struggled to believe that this car was Soundwave. He completely disappeared into the vehicle. I managed to maintain my composure, but gods was it hard.
"All right. So, I think you should be able to park next to the cabin. I'll ask the Hephaestus campers if they can build you a garage."
"Thank you, Will Solace."
"No problem. Now, transform back, and let's head over to the dining pavilion. You'll se where we sit."
"Affirmative."
We walked to the dining pavilion so I could show him where he would have to sit.
"Over here is the Apollo table. This is where you'll have to sit every dinner and breakfast. Okay?"
"Affirmative."
"So, you should probably follow me for the day, so I can keep an eye on you. You okay with that?"
"Affirmative."
"Alright then. Let's go!"
