Annabeth

I was having a chat with Reyna by the archery range. I found that she and I had a lot in common, and it was nice to talk to each other. We usually talked by the archery range, with it being one of the few places that was decently quiet and peaceful that wasn't personal to me and Percy.

I asked, "So, how's it going with officiating Frank as your co-praetor?"

"Things are going rather well." Reyna responded, "He has proved himself to the campers as a good leader"

"That's great, especially since it's taking off a bit of the burden of leading."

"It has, and it's a relief. I thought that I'd have a heart attack leading New Rome alone."

"Well, it's good to see that you're doing well."

"Thank you, Annabeth..." she trailed off, a loud, growing sound distracting her.

Reyna, all of the archers, and myself looked at the direction where a bunch of noise was coming from. We saw the both sets of twins, the cassettes and the Stolls, excitedly running down. I heard one of the archers mutter, "Fantastic."

The pair of twins ran down to the range, excitedly shouting about shurikens. Archers began clearing a path for them, not wanting to get in the way. The Stolls and Rumble gathered around Frenzy when they arrived, and were whispering amongst each other.

Finally, Rumble announced, "Everybody! Watch this!" He then motioned towards Frenzy as he and the Stolls backed away, grins plastered on their faces. We all watched as a slot opened on Frenzy's arm, and he threw it up. As he did that, what looked like a CD launched out of it.

However, the edges of the CD looked like slots were made in the edges, sharpening the edges and making the shape of a shuriken with four points. 'So that's what they were yelling about."

As the CD shuriken fell, Frenzy caught it between his fingers. Then, he asked, "So, who here wants to be part of the show?"

Everyone backed away, clearly not wanting to get involved with whatever they were doing. They either didn't notice or didn't care, as they still decided to pick someone out of the crowd. Frenzy did a bit of "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" before landing on me.

He announced, "You there! Annabeth Chase!"

"Me?" I questioned, concerned and confused as to why he chose me.

"Yes, you! Come on up!"

I cautiously approached, answering, "Okay."

When I got there, Frenzy spun me around to face the crowd. "This young lady right here will help in our show!"

"So... what do I have to do?"

"Just follow us." Rumble requested, a sly grin on his face. He and the Stolls lead me to one of the targets.

"Now, just stand right there..." Connor instructed

"And put this on your head." Travis finished, giving me an apple.

I mumbled, "Great. An apple-shot." I just decided to get it over with, stood in front of the target, and put the apple on my head.

Rumble and the Stolls walked back to Frenzy, before exaggeratedly turning to the crowd. "We will now blindfold Frenzy!"

"What?!" I shouted, as the crowd began murmuring and shifting anxiously. "You can't actually be considering blindfolding Frenzy while he tries to hit an apple off my head, can you?"

Frenzy excitedly responded, "We sure are!" as he tied the blindfold around his head. "Now, to make sure you are as safe as possible, be sure to stand completely still! Do not move, I repeat, do not move!"

"How will that help?!" I shouted back.

"Just watch! Rumble, make some noise!" he answered.

"Rumble, make some noise!" Frenzy commanded. Rumble responded "You got it!" as clapped his hands, sending out a weird sound. Frenzy shifted his head to the side, looking like he was concentrating. He shouted, "Again!" and Rumble clapped a second time. His head kept on shifting until he settled and smiled. He then wound his arm back, preparing for the throw, and I just clamped my eyes shut.

I heard two things. The sound of the shuriken rushing towards my head, and the gasp of the crowd. The suspense built up, and I couldn't resist the temptation to look. I opened my eyes to see the shuriken rushing at my head, and before I could react, it slammed into the apple. I quickly ducked and got away from the target, looking back at the apple. Sure enough, the shuriken hit the apple smack dab in the center.

The crowd began expressing their impressment at the feat as Frenzy lifted up his blindfold to look at the sight. He was wearing a massive grin on his face, and his brother and the Stolls were giving him pats on the back. I sighed a sigh of relief, but relief soon changed to anger as I stormed to Frenzy. I saw Percy also storming towards him as well, so he probably saw what happened.

Percy demanded, "What the hell was that?!"

Connor and Travis nervously greeted, "Hey... Percy," grinning sheepishly.

"'Sup Perce?" Rumble nonchalantly acknowledged, either oblivious or apathetic to his mood.

"Why did you throw a ninja star at Anabeth's head?!"

"Dude, it was just an apple-shot! Chillax! Also, it's a shuriken." Frenzy defended, no hint of fear.

"Well, that 'apple-shot' nearly hit her!"

"No it didn't. I hit the apple."

I interjected, "Well, you were also blindfolded, so it was a miracle you didn't hit me!"

"What the- blindfolded?! You threw a shoryuken-whatchamacallit at my girlfriend, and you were blindfolded?!"

"Woah woah woah." Frenzy responded, looking offended. "It's not a 'shoryuken.' That means 'dragon punch,' and it's a move from Street Fighter. I use shurikens. Shu-ri-kens."

"Doesn't matter! You threw a sharp object at her head, and you couldn't even see!"

"Well, it does matter what it's called. What doesn't matter is whether I can see."

"How does that not matter?!" I shouted.

Rumble responded, "Echolocation, duh."

"Echo-what now?" Percy asked.

"Echolocation, using sound to map an environment..." I paused for a bit, then I snapped my fingers, "oh! I get it!"

"Ah, see? She's clearly the smart one!" Frenzy complimented.

Percy stated, "Okay, now I'm lost. First, you and I were mad at him for throwing a shuriken at your head blindfolded, now, you 'get it?'"

"Well, before Frenzy threw the shuriken, he had Rumble clap, making a noise. Frenzy would then use the noise to echolocate, or use his hearing to find something. And, he did it twice: once to get his bearings on general locations, the second time to get specific locations."

"Wait, but, how did he echolocate? Isn't that something bats do?"

"Perce, a more earth animals than bats echolocate." Rumble corrected.

"Still, how did Frenzy do that?"

Frenzy explained, "See, we kinda have really great hearing, better than anything on Earth. Our great hearing includes being able to hear where specifically things come from. Rumble made noises that let me figure out where to aim, and I had him do it twice so I was sure I wouldn't hit her. I'm not that much of a moron/jerk."

"Oh, okay." Percy responded. "That's a relief. But, you could have told us that before hand."

"Oh, but wheres the fun in that?" Frenzy slyly answered. 'Well, he's enough of a jerk to scare the living daylights out of me for fun."

Rumble beckoned, "Come on! Let's get back to Soundwave!"

"Coming!" Frenzy responded as he followed Rumble back to the infirmary.

The Stolls finally spoke, saying "We're... just gonna go" as they scampered off, laughing and probably planning their next prank.

"Well, that was something" Percy joked.

"Tell me about it"
