Chapter 53: First Friend, Last Rival! Final Vs. Wally!
After breakfast the following morning, Michael quickly brought Swampert, and by extension Sceptile and Greninja, out to the practice battlefield. He decided to use the time till his Tourney Final battle with Wally this evening to find out just what caused Swampert's sudden speed burst during the match with Brendan's Magcargo yesterday.
Michael - "So again, you've been doing speed training with Sceptile and Greninja since the start of our trek across Hoenn?"
Swampert - "Yes. At times I always felt like I just wasn't fast enough. And yet, times I feel like I trained in speed too much. And yesterday was proof of that."
Michael - "I see. Well then. Here's what we'll do..."
-Later In The Day At Central Stadium-
Soon it was time for Michael's Tourney Final battle with Wally. He and Wally were led out to the battlefield, where Audrey was waiting for them.
Audrey - "This will be a 6-on-6 Final battle between Wally of Hoenn's Petalburg City and Michael Masi of Pokémon Island. The battle will continue all Pokémon on one side are unable to continue. Are both trainers ready?"
Both Trainers activate their Battle Disks.
Michael/Wally- "Ready!"

Wally - "Go Magnezone! Now where's your Swampert?"
Michael - "Incineroar I choose you!"
Wally - "What?!"
Wally was just as stunned as everyone else in the stadium. Despite what happened yesterday, pretty much everyone was expecting Michael to use Swampert aginst Wally's Magnezone.

Michael crossed his arms, silently saying no.

Empoleon jumped back, landing next to Michael as Delcatty took his place.

After a few moments, the smoke cleared to show Michael's Delcatty standing tall, while Wally's Delcatty was knocked out.

Mega Soul Delcatty charged up energy as Mega Gallade did his Swords Dance to make himself stronger.

Mega Gallade fired off a barrage of Psycho Slashes, wanting to take down Delcatty before she could even fire off her own. But Mega Soul Delcatty had decided to fire her own at the same time. Both attacks met in a stalemate at midfield, then a sudden explosion went off, catching both battling Pokémon inside it.
Wally - "Gallade!"
Michael - "Delcatty!"
After a few moments, the smoke cleared, showing that both Mega Gallade and Mega Soul Delcatty were heavily injured due to the explosion. Mega Soul Delcatty then suddenly staggered.
Swampert - "Delcatty!"
Gallade then fell, hitting the ground with swirls in his eyes.
Audrey - "Gallade is unable to battle! Delcatty wins!"
Wally's Remaining Pokémon: 1 – 1 = 0
(Music Ends)
Wally silently returned Gallade.
Audrey - "All six of Wally's Pokémon are knocked out. So the winner of the battle, and the entire Hoenn Victory Road Tourney, is Michael Masi!"
The crowd's roar was deafening as Michael celebrated his victory with Delcatty, Empoleon, and Incineroar. Soon Michael and Wally were led off the battlefield, where they were reunited with the others. Soon they got together for dinner, where Michael declared his challenge to Steven and Hoenn's Elite Four.
