It was safe to say that after last night, no one in Gryffindor wanted to talk to Harry, Hermione or Nevile. It even surprised me that the Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs started to ignore them as well. The Slytherin's were happy with Harry though, praising him any chance they got. Quidditch was almost worse, with everyone except me calling Harry 'The Seeker'. The week before exams, I was in the library with Harry, Ron and Hermione, studying. Harry had left a little bit ago but soon returned, practically out of breath. He told us that he had just seen Quirrell run out of a classroom where he had told someone something. He assumed it was Snape and that he had finally cracked. "Snape's done it then!" Ron exclaimed. "If Quirrel's told him how to break his Anti-Dark Force Spell-"
"There's still Fluffy, though." Hermione interrupted.
"Maybe Snape's found out how to get past him without asking Hagrid."
"That would be tough." I admitted, closing my book. "Fluffy's more of a 'eat first, ask questions never' kind of creature." Ron ignored me and continued talking to Harry.
"I bet there's a book somewhere in here, telling you how to get past a giant three-headed dog." Ron stated. "So, what do we do Harry?'
"Go to Dumbledore." Hermione stated. "That's what we should have done ages ago. If we had anything ourselves we'll be thrown out for sure."
"But we've got no proof." Harry insisted. "Quirrell's too scared to back us up. Snape's only got to say he doesn't know how the troll got in at Halloween and that he was nowhere near the third floor, who do you think they'll believe, him or us? It's not exactly a secret we hate him, and that the more students get thrown out, the better, he'll think. And I don't forget, we're not supposed to know about the Stone or Fluffy, that'll take a lot of explaining." I sighed and nodded in agreement.
"If we just do a bit of poking around and-" Ron started.
"No." Harry said finally. "We've done enough poking around."
"Harry's right." I said, opening my book again. "We have a lot to study for, Exams are next week. Now come on." I tapped Ron's paper. "Get to it." Ron grumbled before reluctantly turning his eyes down to his paper to study.
TIMESKIP
It was late the next night when Harry and Hermione returned to the Common Room. Ron was asleep, but Harry woke him up because something had happened during detention. Harry explained the situation, pacing back and forth. "Snape wants the stone for Voldemort...and Coldeort's waiting in the forest...and all this time we thoughts Snape just wanted to get rich…"
"Stop saying the name!" Ron whimpered. I gripped the arms of the armchair, my hair snow-white at the name. From what my parents have told me, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named killed my birth parents. They found me crying, alone in a field and barely able to speak, and they decided me to take me in. Harry ignored Ron, however, and continued to pace and talk.
"Firenze saved me, but he shouldnt have done...Bane was furious...he was talking about interfering with what the planets say is going to happen...they must show that Voldemort's coming back...Bane thinks Firenze should have let Voldemort kill me...I suppose that's written in the stars as well."
"Will you stop saying that name!" Ron wailed.
"So all I've got to wait for now is Snape to steal the stone, then Voldemort will be able to come and finish me off...well I suppose Bane'll be happy."
"Harry, everyone says Dumbledore's the only one You-Know-Who was ever afraid of." Hermione soothed. "With Dumbledore around, You-Know-Who won't touch you. Anyway, who says the Centaur's are right? It sounds like fortune telling to me, and Professor McGonagall say'that's a very imprecise branch of magic."
"With that out of the way, we should all head to bed." I suggested, pushing myself onto my feet as my hair turned back to it's natural brown. "Harry…" The scared boy turned to me. "Please, You-Know-Who's true name is not one to throw around willingly. He destroyed my family before I could even make memories of them. Be glad your life was spared." Harry gave me a small nod of his head before I walked upstairs and back to my room.
