Sakura, Sora, & Memories of their Mother

(Sora's POV)
*It's been a few days since we captured the Jump Card. Today, I was having a break from baseball practice with Kenji & listening to Naoko tell us about what happened to her last night*
Naoko: I was running really late that day. So I thought I'd take a shortcut through the woods behind the school.
*She told us how saw a ball of light appear in front of her. Thinking it was a firefly, she followed it. She went all the way to the wall at the edge of the woods. Just then, the ball turned into a pillar of light & a one-eyed monster came out of it. Suddenly, Sakura screamed. Me, Kenji, Chiharu, & Naoko covered our ears*
Chiharu: S . . . Sakura . . .
*Sakura blushed & covered her face with her pom-poms*
Sakura: Oops. Sorry.
Kenji: Did that really happen, Naoko?
Naoko: Yes.
Chiharu: There's no way you could've been mistaken?
Naoko: No.
*Sakura started to cry*
Sakura: Oh please stop talking about this. I hate ghost stories!
*I went up to her & patted her back*
Chiharu: Naoko, do you wanna go back and check it out to see if it's true or not?
*Sakura & I were both surprised by this suggestion*
Kenji: Yeah! Great idea!
Naoko: What?
Chiharu: Let's all leave practice early today. We'll ask Rika to come with us.
Kenji: Yeah! We'll all go together!
*Sakura started to panic*
Sakura: But wait!
Chiharu: What is it?
Sakura: Well, as you may know, there's a high wall at the back of the woods. It's too dangerous.
Sora: She has a point. The teachers are always telling us to stay away from there.
Chiharu: It'll be fine.
Kenji: Yeah. As long as we don't get too close to the edge.
Sakura: But what if we really do see a ghost?
Chiharu: We'll be fine if we get out of there right away.
Sakura: Yeah, but . . .
Kenji: Relax, we're gonna be fine.
*I sighed. There was no stopping them now. Sakura started crying again. Just then, both of our coaches blew their whistles*
Naoko: Oh, break time's over. Let's go!
Kenji: So's ours. C'mon Sora!
Sora: Coming!
*We both ran back to the baseball field*
*An hour later, we all left practice. We were walking through the forest with Sakura clinging on to my arm, Tomoyo was also here which made me really happy, & Rika*
Sakura: Are guys sure you don't wanna back out of this?
Tomoyo: It'll be fine. Anyway, the sun's still out.
Rika: That's right. There's nothing to worry about.
*Sakura looked ready to cry again*
Chiharu: Hey. My Mom's birthday's coming up pretty soon. So what do you think I should get her?
*Both Sakura & I were surprised by the new topic*
Rika: Your Mom likes baking cakes a lot, doesn't she? So how about getting her some cute plates then.
Chiharu: Dessert plates, huh? Hey, Sakura, Sora, what do you think?
*Then she realized what she said after Kenji nudged her*
Sakura: Oh, don't worry about us!
Sora: We're okay. Promise. *in his mind* That's right. Next Sunday would have been our Mom's birthday.
*It was starting to get really dark. Naoko stopped at one point*
Naoko: This way.
*We started to go off the path & into the woods. Sakura flinched at the sound of a crow flying away*
Sora: It's okay, Sakura. It's just a crow.
Sakura: Oh.
*Soon, we arrived at the wall. A part of the fence had broken off*
Naoko: This is where it happened.
*We all looked around, but didn't see anything*
Kenji: There's nothing here.
Chiharu: Maybe it doesn't come out until nighttime.
*Sakura whimpered. Just then, she turned around & screamed. We all looked behind us & a ball of light. Suddenly, the ball grew really big & inside of it, I could see the silhouette of a woman. The girls all screamed & ran away, Sakura being the loudest. Kenji & I ran after them. We all ran until we got back to the path. Sakura hugged me tight*
Sakura: I saw a woman with long hair!
Chiharu: It was floating and had pointy ears!
Naoko: It had one eye spinning around!
Rika: It had fangs sticking out of mouth!
Tomoyo: A big pork bun.
Kenji: A plate of yakisoba.
Sakura: What?
*We all looked at them, confused*
Tomoyo: Well, what I saw just looked like a big pork bun to me.
Kenji: It me it looked like a plate of my Mom's yakisoba.
*Sakura looked surprised & then turned to me*
Sakura: What did you see, Sora?
Sora: I also saw a woman with long hair.
*We went back home & told Kero what happened. We were both in the bathroom with him. Sakura was scrubbing her her hair & I was in the tub with Kero, who was playing with a sailboat*
Sakura: I tell you, that was so scary!
Kero: What? Are you afraid of ghosts?
Sakura: Sure, I am!
Kero: Even though you're okay fighting the Clow Cards?
Sora: That's mostly because of Touya being a jerk.
Sakura: I don't don't know why, but anyway I'm scared of ghosts! And I know what the physical shapes of the Clow Cards are, right?
*She started to rinse her hair*
Kero: C'mon, Sakura. That logic is a little too hard to follow. But anyway, everyone saw something different. Hmm . . . So was there a Card like that?
*Then she started to dry her hair*
Fujitaka:*off-screen* Supper's just about ready!
Sakura & Sora: Coming!
*Sakura got in the tub with a pink towel wrapped around her head*
Sakura: Oh Kero. I just wish you could turn to your real form and become my bodyguard.
Sora: I thought I was your bodyguard?
Sakura: Well . . . Yeah. But Kero can be a bodyguard to both of us if it gets really dangerous.
Sora: True.
Kero: Well, that's not impossible. But we have to at least catch the Fire and Earth Cards. Boy, my real form is oh so cool!
Sakura: Really? It is?
*I started to imagine Kero as a giant version of himself. I took all my strength on to burst out laughing*
*After we finished in the bath, we went downstairs. Dad was already setting the table for dinner*
Sakura: Wow! That looks delicious!
Sora: Can't wait to try it!
Fujitaka: You two are big noodle fans, aren't you?
*We both smiled & nodded. We were about to sit down when we noticed a new picture of Mom on the table. Sakura picked it up & we both looked at it*
Sakura: What a lovely picture!
Sora: Mom was 16 in this picture, wasn't she?
*Dad nodded*
*Our Mom, Nadeshiko, worked as a model from when she was in Junior High. We have all her pictures that were in the magazines. As well as the pictures that Dad took*
Sakura: Mom was very pretty.
Sora: Yeah.
Fujitaka: Yes. She was a beautiful woman. And the kindest person I've ever met.
*Sakura & I were just 3 years old when Mom died. So we don't really remember her. But Dad tells us all about her. So we really love our Mom although we don't know her*
Fujitaka: C'mon. Better eat up now or the food'll get cold.
Sakura & Sora: Okay.
Sora: You better hurry to, Dad. Or you'll miss the bullet train.
Dad: Yes, sir.
*After dinner, Sakura & I did the dishes. She washed & I dried*
Kero: So both your Dad and your brother have gone out?
Sakura: Touya's working.
Sora: And Dad has to go to the University for a lecture.
Kero: Oh.
Sakura: Dad made some pudding before he went out, you know.
*I winked at him*
Sora: We'll eat ours and we'll give you Touya's.
Kero: Yippee! Pudding! Pudding! *just then, the phone rang* Oh. I'll go get the phone.
*He flew over to the phone, picked it up, & held it in-between both of us*
Sakura: Kinomoto residence.
Tomoyo:*off-screen* Hello. Sakura? Sora?
*My heart skipped a beat at the sound of her voice*
Sakura: Tomoyo! What's up?
*She explained what happened*
Sora: What!? They went back to the woods!?
Tomoyo:*off-screen* Yes. Chiharu called me just now. This time they had a different group of people going there. And you know what? They saw it again. The ghost.
*Sakura got scared again*
*We went back to the woods. Kenji was also with us. Sakura was wearing a headband with cream colored bunny ears, a pink/light blue one-piece with pink puffy sleeves, three yellow puffballs go down the centre of the body, puffy shorts going up to mid-thigh length, a larger yellow puffball also goes at the back to resemble a rabbit's tail, cream colored tights, & pastel blue ballet-flats that have yellow pom-poms on top of them. I was wearing a headband with cream colored bunny ears, a light blue long puffy sleeved shirt, light blue capri pants with a yellow rabbit tail, long white socks, & light blue flats (look up "Sora (Episode 6 Costume #1)" by "SwanGirl24" on "DeviantArt"). Kero was wearing a blue ribbon with a pink button on it. Sakura started crying*
Kero: What's the big deal? What's a Cardcaptor doing crying over a thing like this?
Sakura: Because . . .
Tomoyo: You sure you're okay?
Kenji: If you're scared, I can walk you home.
Sakura: I'm not really okay, because you said some of the kids were hurt, right?
Tomoyo: Yeah. They said there were five of them all together in Chiharu's group. As soon as they saw the ghost, they all panicked and they fell down as hurt themselves.
Sora: All the more reason to catch this Clow Card before someone gets really hurt or worse.
Kero: That's the spirt! Cardcaptors Sakura and Sora protecting the peace of the neighborhood!
Sakura: But what if we see a ghost!?
*Kero groaned*
Kero: Anyway, to start with. You gotta go and check it out!
*Sakura clung to my arm*
Tomoyo: Well then, let's get going.
Kenji: Yeah! Let's get that Clow Card!
*They both turned around & saw the glowing ball of light*
Sora: It's that ball again!
*The ball floated in the woods*
Kero: Sakura! Sora!
Sakura: Right!
*We both summoned the Fly Card*
Sakura & Sora: Fly!
*The wings on our wands grew & we both flew after the ball. Kenji, Tomoyo, & Kero were right behind us. We followed the ball all the way to the wall. Just then, the ball grew big & we got ready to fight. Suddenly, we both of our surprise. Mom appeared out of the light. She looked just like the picture we saw at dinner*
Sakura: Mom?
Sora: Is that you?
*She didn't say anything*
Sakura: Is it you? Really?
*She smiled at us. We both started to cry with happiness*
Sora: Mom!
(Third-Person POV)
*Tomoyo, Kenji, & Kero caught up with them. They all saw the light in front of them*
Kero: What's that? *they all ran towards the light* What's happening Sakura, Sora!
*Suddenly, he bounced off an invisible wall. Kenji caught him*
Kenji: Kero!
(Sora's POV)
*We both stared at Mom with smiles & tears of joy*
Sakura: Oh Mom!
*She held out her hands to us. We both stepped towards her*
(Third-Person POV)
Kenji: Sakura! Sora!
Tomoyo: Don't fall off the wall!
*The twins didn't seem to hear either of them as they went over the edge & fell*
Tomoyo & Kenji: SAKURA! SORA!
*Suddenly, two transparent hands grabbed each of them by the hands.
Tomoyo & Kenji: SAKURA! SORA!
*Yukito, who was walking near the wall, heard their voices & looked up. He saw the twins floating towards the ground*
Yukito: Sakura! Sora!
*He dropped the bag he was holding & the pork bun he was eating & caught the twins. One in each arm. Tomoyo & Kenji looked down from the wall*
Tomoyo: Sakura!
Kenji: Sora!
*They were surprised to find Yukito holding the twins with ease. He looked up & smiled at them*
Yukito: Hey, they're okay. I've got them.
*They both breathed a sigh of relief. Yukito looked at the twins, who were sound asleep*
(Sora's POV)
*When I opened my eyes, I found myself in futon, wearing a big white t-shirt & shorts. I was surprised find myself in an unfamiliar room. Luckily, Sakura was in another futon next to me*
Sakura: Sora? Where are we?
Sora: I . . . Don't know.
*Just then, Yukito came into the room, carrying two cups on a tray*
Yukito: Hey, you're both awake.
Sakura:*blushing* Yukito!
Sora: Where are we?
*He brought the cups over to us*
Yukito: You're at my house.
Sakura: What? Your house? *then she noticed what we were wearing* Hey, where are our closes?
Yukito: Don't worry. The clothes you were wearing are in the wash. My grandma changed your clothes.
*He gave us each a cup & we took a sip. It was warm milk*
Sora:*in his mind* That's right. Touya told us that Yukito lives with his Grandparents.
*Sakura started blushing again*
Sakura: Uh . . . Thanks for everything, Yukito.
Sora: Yes. Thank you.
Yukito: Sakura, Sora. You both fell off the wall, you know. Do you remember? *we both shook our heads* I see. But boy, you sure scared me, you know. I was just walking along and suddenly you both fell from the sky.
Sakura: You mean you saved us?
Sora: What about Tomoyo and Kenji?
Yukito: Well, some woman wearing sunglasses came for Tomoyo and Kenji's Dad came for him. They were really worried about you. But I told them that I would call Touya, so they asked me to make sure that I did.
Sakura: Our brother?
Sora:*in his mind* Oh great.
*I could already imagine he angry face*
Yukito: Don't worry. I'll tell him, so it'll be okay. He won't get mad at you.
Sakura: Oh yeah! Kero!
Yukito: The orange stuffed animal? Tomoyo said she was gonna look after it today.
*We both sighed in relief & finished our milk. Yukito look the cups*
Yukito: Why don't you both lie down and rest a little bit longer?
*We both layer back down on the futons & closed our eyes. He patted both of our heads*
Sakura: Yukito . . .
Yukito: Hm?
Sakura: I saw our Mom.
Sora: Me too. We really did. On top of that wall. Well, maybe it was Mom's ghost
Yukito: Well . . .
Sakura: I remember a long time ago, Touya told us that ghosts only come out for a reason.
Sora: Yeah. I wonder . . . Just what Mom was doing out there.
Yukito: Well, if it really was your Mom, you seriously think she'd put you in danger like that?
*We both closed our eyes*
Sakura & Sora: Mom . . .
(Third-Person POV)
Later, Touya came to take the twins home. Touya carried Sora on his back & Yukito carried Sakura in a Princess carry, along with some wrapped food*
Touya: Sorry about all this.
Yukito: It's okay. They both said that they saw your Mom today. *Touya looked at him* They saw her in the woods behind their school. Have you seen your Mom? Since she passed away.
Touya: Yeah. But it wasn't in the woods behind the school. It's my fault Sakura's so afraid of ghosts and monsters.
Yukito: Why?
Touya: Cause I used to tell her and Sora by there was a see-through woman nearby or a white haired old man or stuff like that. Sora never really believed me because he thought I was making it up.
Yukito: So that's why she was so scared.
Touya: They couldn't see anything, but I think they understood. Sakura used to just bawl.
Yukito: So do you see your Mom often?
Touya: No. I haven't seen her again since I finished junior high. I guess Sakura and Sora are probably lonely without Mom.
Yukito: Well, I don't think so. But I'm sure they can't help thinking that they'd like to see her. They've got a lot of things to deal with, so don't get angry with them about today, kay?
Touya: Hmph.
Yukito: Sakura and Sora are still little and they're so incredibly cute. Why don't you stop teasing them so much, Touya?
Touya: I'm the only one who can horse-around with her.
Yukito: Ever heard of a younger sibling complex?
Touya: Oh shut up.
(Sora's POV)
*The next morning, I was sitting up in bed, reading a book. Just then, someone knocked on the door*
Sora: Come in!
*Kenji came in*
Kenji: Sora?
Sora: Oh. Hi Kenji. You here alone?
Kenji: No. I came with Tomoyo. *my heart skipped a beat* She's visiting Sakura right now. Anyway, you feeling better today? You and Sakura didn't come to school today.
Sora: I feel so much better now. Thanks. Touya told us to rest today.
Kenji: That's good. Oh yeah. *he took a paper crane out of his pocket* Kero wanted me to give this to you. He says he's sorry that he wasn't there when you and Sakura needed him. *I smiled. I'll thank him later* Still. That was weird. What was that light anyway?
Sora: I'm not entirely sure. But Sakura and I saw our Mom in that light.
Kenji: Really? But everyone else saw something different. So far, you two are the only ones that saw her.
Sora: Really? *I thought for a minute. and then I made up my mind* I'm going back there.
Kenji: What!? Are you serious?
Sora: I don't know if it's a Clow Card or a real ghost, but one things for sure. If it is a Card, then Sakura and I have to do something about it. And if it's really our Mom . . . *I got up from my bed & looked out the window at the sunset* Touya told us a long time ago that Mom wasn't here anymore. That we had grown up and so Mom had gone to a beautiful, peaceful place in the sky. If I can, I want to know what she's doing out there. Or at least find out if there's something she wants to say to us.
*I told Sakura my plan & it turns out she had the same idea I did. That night, we went back to the woods. Sakura was wearing a yellow tele-com device on her head, a yellow & white dress with it's skirt in the shape of an umbrella, as well as having tulle beneath the skirt for volume, white gloves, white knee-high stockings with a wide feather opening, & a pair of white & yellow sporty boots. I was wearing a yellow tele-com device on my head, a yellow & white tunic with the end in the shape of an umbrella, white gloves, white pants with a wide feather opening, & a pair of white & yellow sporty boots. Tomoyo: Please be careful, you guys.
Kero: Don't go falling off any walls or anything.
*We nodded*
Kenji: You've got to be extra careful.
Tomoyo: I wonder if I should film Kero to.
Kero: Yeah, sure! I'm not crazy, you know!
*She turned the camera towards the cliff*
Tomoyo: There it is!
*We all looked at each cliff & saw the ball of light*
Kero: Sakura! Sora!
*The ball of light grew & Mom appeared*
Sakura: It's Mom!
Sora: Yeah!
Tomoyo: It's their Mom!
Kero: Just like in the photo!
Kenji: Whoa . . .
Kero: But how come all of us are seeing the same thing this time?
*Sakura & I both stared at Mom*
Sakura: Oh Mom . . .
*We stepped up to her*
Sora: Is it really you, Mom? If it is, then what are you doing here?
*Mom didn't say anything. She just held out her hands to us*
Sakura: Mom . . . Are you lonely?
Sora: Do you . . . Want us to go with you?
*Mom started to move away from us*
Sakura: Wait! Don't leave us, Mom!
Sora: Come back!
Kero: No! Don't go that way!
*He bounced off a force field & was sent flying into a tree*
Tomoyo & Kenji: Kero!
Kero: Sakura . . . Sora . . .
Sakura: Don't go, Mom!
Sora: Wait, Mom! Don't go!
Sakura: Mom!
*That's when I realized how close we were getting to the edge. Then I remembered what Yukito has asked us*
(Flashback)
Yukito: If it really was your Mom, do you seriously think she'd put you in danger like that?
*That's when it hit me. I immediately grabbed Sakura by the wrist & pulled her back*
Sakura: Sora, what are you - ?
Sora: Sakura! *I pointed at the imposter* That's not Mom!
Sakura: What!?
Sora: Think about it. Mom would never want to hurt us, would she?
*Her eyes went wide. Then she became serious*
Sakura: You're right! Mom wouldn't do this! She wouldn't! No way! *we got our wands ready* We know you're not our Mom!
Sora: Who are you?
*Suddenly, the imposter started to blink out, like an old television screen. For a brief second, a shifting, Kaleidoscope pattern appeared over the imposter*
Kero: I recognize that pattern! It's a Clow Card!
*The imposter started to fade away. We got our wands ready*
Sakura & Sora: Return to your true form now, Clow Card!
*We hit the imposter with our wands & she turned into a card with the same pattern on it. It said "Illusion"*
Tomoyo: You did it!
Kenji: Awesome!
Kero: Hey, it's the Illusion Card. That's right. Everybody saw something different, didn't they?
Tomoyo: What does it all mean.
Kero: It's a Card that makes people see what they want to see. It shows people whats inside of their hearts. Naturally, everybody sees something different.
Kenji: Oh yeah. Cause the first time I saw it, I was excited because my Mom was cooking her yakisoba for dinner that night. It's my favorite you know.
Sakura, Sora, & Tomoyo: We know!
Tomoyo: And I was hungry for a pork bun.
Kero: Everyone who who saw the ghost saw what they normally thought they were most afraid of. This time, all of us had been looking at Sakura & Sora's Mom's picture. So we must've all thought we were going to see her here.
Tomoyo: And Kero, how come you were flung away?
Kero: That just goes to show how strongly Sakura and Sora felt about wanting to see their Mom.
*Sakura & I each wiped away a tear*
Sora:*in his mind* Mom . . . I'm glad you're not alone after all.
Sakura: We'd be happy to see you.
Sora: Yeah. But we're much happier with you up there in sky. In that beautiful place.
Sakura: Yep.
*We all looked up at the night sky*
Kero: You two did a wonderful job. Your Mom's gonna be very proud of you. But she might have been a little worried to.
*The next morning, I was at the table, eating breakfast, when I heard Sakura screaming upstairs. Touya was sitting across from me, reading a newspaper*
Sakura:*off-screen* AAGH! I'm gonna be late!
*She ran into the dining room, wearing her uniform, & went to the fridge*
Touya: There's no school on a Sunday.
Sakura: The Cheerleaders Club! *she ate some bread & drank a whole bottle of milk* I'm off! *I was about to say goodbye to her, but paused when she stopped to look at Mom's photo. she left a present in front of it* Hey Mom. Happy birthday.
*I put a present next to hers*
Sora: Happy birthday, Mom. We love you.
Sakura: We really love you.
(Third-Person POV)
*Touya looked up from his newspaper & his eyes went wide. Their Mom, wearing a yellow dress & had angel wings on her back, was hovering over the twins.
Sakura: All right. See you later.
Sora: Bye Sakura!
*She left & Sora went upstairs. Nadeshiko then looked at Touya & smiled*
Nadeshiko: I was a little worried about the twins recently. But they seem fine now.
*Then she disappeared. Touya continued to look surprised. But then smiled & went back to his newspaper. Sakura skated down the street to school & Sora sat at his desk in his room, reading*
