Dear The Underland Chronicles Fanfiction Writers...

Letter 6

Author's Note: I think I only have two or three more of these to write. Most of the characters that aren't represented well I have already written about. I think I might do one for Lizzie, and maybe one for Ares, but other than that, I think this is enough. Hopefully what I have written will be enough to inspire those who come after me, and influence enough people to take a closer look at the source material before they go about creating their own story.

Dear The Underland Chronicles Fanfiction Writers,

We as a collected group have decided to address many of the rumors that have circled us since our introduction in the series.

Firstly: We do not hate the Warrior. He has accomplished many great things for Regalia. We may not particularly like what he stands for, but we wish him well nonetheless.

Secondly: We are not stupid, nor are we weak. We are politicians, to use one of your words, yes, but we are far different from the kind that you all know. We hail from a world that is constantly under the threat of war. That means that, to be in charge, we must be strong and courageous. We must be good stewards of the lands we are elected to protect. We must be smart.

Thirdly: We are not cowards. We represent the strength of the people of Regalia. As we have persisted against every threat made against us, it is a sign of the fortitude of each individual here and the council as a whole. We do not openly cry when threatened. We do not run away in the face of danger. We are not frail people.

The next time that you attempt to make up a story for what happens next, write us as we truly are: guardians of the people of Regalia. Not as cunning, conniving, mischievous miscreants seeking nothing but our own gain.

Signed, the collected Council of Regalia.

Many times, I see the council villainized as these greedy, corrupt morons who want nothing but their own gain. I myself have written about them being out to get Gregor. But the difference between my version and the versions others have created is that mine are smart. Mine know how to handle politics. They hide their thoughts behind a mask of indifference. They do not show how they feel unless the situation is dire. That's typically how politics work. Do some studying on it before you come in and make your main antagonist the ones who are meant to be servants to the people.

Happy reading!
