"I knew it." Jen shook her head, handing back the letter with an odd smile on her face.
"Knew what?" Joey stuttered, setting down a cup of coffee in front of Jen before sitting.
"Well let's see. One that he loves you. Two that boy knows you better than you know yourself…Dawson." Jen gave her an 'I told you so look', further adding. "I told you his heart would break."
"I know." Joey cried covering her eyes as the tears fell.
Jen let her tears fall until they finally stopped before she broached. "How was the date with Dawson?"
"The usual…" She chuckled hollowly, her finger teasing a drop of condensation around the table. "Dinner at Leery's where he talked about his next movie and how he wanted me to produce again and then we went to the Rialto. When he brought me home, he tried to kiss me, but I gave him my cheek."
"And how do you feel?"
Licking her lips Joey squeezed her eyes shut. "Part of me wishes I told Dawson 'No' on trying again and the other part wishes I hadn't let Pacey walk off the dock that night."
Jen snickered, shaking her head. "Isn't that basically the same thing?"
"No." Joey shook her head sadly, tears pooling in her eyes once more. "If I'd stopped Pacey that night he'd still be here."
"Joey…" Jen started when there was a knock on the door.
Getting up Joey answered the door, expecting to see guests for the B and B, but was shocked finding Jack…and Andie. "Hi."
"Hi." Jack said shortly, pushing past her into the house, Andie following somewhat hesitantly. "Ok when did you get back with Dawson?" He asked Joey before turning to the rest of the room. "And where the hell is Pacey?"
Jen answered for Joey handing Jack Pacey's letter, Andie peered over her brother's shoulder reading the words herself.
"Shit." Jack cursed, shaking his head and rubbing a hand down his face.
"Oh my god." Andie squealed, snatching the letter out of her brother's hand, her eyes scanning her ex's words. "I wasn't his first love."
"What?" Joey's head shot up to the blonde her heart pounding. "What do you mean?"
"When we had that study session at Chris Wolfe's, and he admitted about Ms. Jacobs, he also admitted that he kissed you the year before."
"Yeah." Joey responded shakily, her eyes on Andie as everyone's eyes resided on her.
"He had also said almost matter of factly, and in present tense, that he had feelings for you." Joey's heart stopped and eyes widened but Andie went on. "At first I didn't pay much mind but then I replayed the interactions I had with him when we moved here and whenever you were around his eyes followed you, if you needed help, he'd be the first to jump up."
"Why didn't you say anything?" Jack chided his sister by knocking his shoulder with hers. When she didn't answer he turned back to Jen and Joey. "So where is Pacey?"
"I don't know." Joey breathed, rubbing at her forehead, her heart racing at the new knowledge that Pacey had feelings for her longer than she knew. "Doug says he doesn't know, and the True Love seems untouched."
"What about Will? Maybe he knows?" Andie asked brightly a hopeful smile on her face.
Joey cringed shaking her head. "Not likely. They haven't seen each other in years, and I think Pacey left before Will did."
"I can still ask?" Andie offered making Joey shrug.
"Maybe we should ask Sheriff Witter?" Jen tried with her own shrug; Jack huffed in response.
"Like he'd care where Pacey was or where he went."
"I can try Doug again." Joey sighed rubbing at her eyes. The stress of the two men in her life making her heart race.
"Do it." Jack nodded, pulling her into a hug.
