"Never thought I would see the day when I would leave this blasted hospital" Kaori gently spoke, hopping down the steps of the hospital with Kousei by her side. Her parents followed the 2 students, carrying a small bag of medicine and clothes.

While Kaori's surgery was a success, and her disease wouldn't kill her. She still had to take medicine. The medicine would prevent the disease from returning.

Taking the medicine would allow her to do anything she wanted to. There would be no more fainting and collapsing for the young blonde.

"Well, I'm glad that you did" Kousei added on.

"Thanks for pointing out the obvious dummy" Kaori teased, gently nudging the boy's arm.

Her parents simply watched on, smiling. To be honest, they didn't know what to do, this was their daughter's boyfriend and it felt awkward following them.

A young couple would much rather spend time alone, right?

They wanted to leave the two alone, but couldn't figure out how to bring it up naturally. They didn't want to do it in a teasing way nor did they want it to be an awkward suggestion.

"Uh, dad, mom, can I hang out with Kousei for a couple hours?" Their daughter said what they wanted to hear, they wanted this young couple to enjoy their youth together. They didn't want old farts getting in the way of a blooming relationship.

"Yeah, absolutely. You don't even need to ask, just tell us" Mr Miyazono responded, extremely supportive of their relationship. He had always liked Kousei ever since meeting him, he could trust the boy with his daughter, no harm would come to her if she's with him.

"So, dear boyfriend of mine, where shall we go?" Kaori asked in a teasing manner, it was evident by now that she would continue to tease him even after beginning a relationship with him.

But at least she's dropped 'Friend A'.

Kousei began to think, he didn't care about hid enjoyment, he cared about whether or not Kaori would enjoy it.

That's all he needed.

He thought carefully, where would Kaori enjoy a first date the most?

Anything music related is too obvious, besides it would only cause them to want to play instead of enjoying their time with each other.

A movie would be too cliche, and it would be annoying having to pick a movie. If he watched what Kaori wanted there's a chance he wouldn't enjoy it.

He at least wanted to have some entertainment that he enjoyed, though most of his enjoyment would come from Kaori's happiness.

Theme park is too lazy, it needs to be more unique.

The beach could be good... actually wait, no. He really didn't like the idea of someone other than him looking at Kaori in a bikini or a swimsuit.

Finally an idea hits him.

"Ooh, let's go to an aquarium" Kousei suggested, watching as Kaori's face lit up, her eyes sparkling.

"Yeah! We should go!" Kaori eagerly responded, picking up the pace as she began to walk faster with Kousei by her side.

"Woow, look at the whales!" Kaori eagerly spoke, her eyes full of life as they sparkled, her face and hands were pressed up against the glass as she stared in wonder at the aquatic creatures.

Her childish nature made Kousei smile, he really loved this about her.

"Are the whales your favourite?" Kousei asked, simply wanting to know. Her obvious fascination with sharks made Kousei want to find out.

"Yeah! They're not better than cats though! But they're still my second favourite animal!" She eagerly replied as she turned her head back to her boyfriend, before pressing her face back up against the glass again to admire the majestic creature.

"Hmm, is that so?" Kousei spoke quietly as he took in her opinion.

"Stay here, I need to visit the bathroom" He informed as he peeled away from his girlfriend, h eading towards the bathroom.

Kaori didn't mind however, she was too absorbed with the sight of the whale. Her mouth was slightly agape as she gazed up at the creature.

She would stay in place, staring at the whale as she waited for Kousei's return. Only to not notice him when he did so.

Though he was quite annoyed by being unnoticed by his girlfriend, he decided to enact a simple revenge. He lightly hit her on her head, causing her to yelp and turn around.

"D-Don't do that you jackass!" She scolded, a small pout on her reddening face as she huffed, crossing her arms causing Kousei to snicker, barely holding in laughter. The sight was adorable to him.

"... What's that behind your back?" She asked, having noticed that Kousei is clearly hiding something.

"Hm? I dunno, why would I tell you when you when you ignored me for 3 minutes straight?~" Kousei would tease her. It was a valid question, why should he tell her? She did ignore him for quite a while after all.

"Hmph! It's cause I'm your girlfriend!" The short girl pouted, crossing her arms under her chest. She would look away, clearly throwing a tantrum after having been teased by the one she loves.

"Oof, you got me there. You remember how I forgot to get you a gift the last time you left the hospital?"

"Hehe, I took full advantage of that. But yeah, go on"

Kaori responded, eager to see what Kousei's gift would be.

"Well, I remembered this time" Kousei pulled out a small plushie of a whale, clearly meant for a kid. He had gotten it from the gift shop, it was the gift. And it was a good gift, judging from how Kaori's eyes lit up at the sight. She loved whales, it was obvious due to how her eyes fixated on them when they got to the aquarium. And she loved plushies, her bed being full of them with even more decorating the shelves in her room.

"Omigoditsadorable!"

She would let out in a high pitched tone, she was practically squealing with delight. She would snatch the plush out of Kousei's hands, much to the boy's amusement as she would keep squealing and nuzzling against it.

All the while, an adorable smile was plastered on her face. It was the cutest thing for Kousei to see. To say it made his day would be an understatement, it made his entire year. To see his girlfriend so happy, that's all the 14 year old boy could ask for.

Kaori would stop nuzzling against the new plush, pulling Kousei into a tight hug as she nuzzled into his neck.

"Thanks, Kousei. You're really the best~" She whispered, nuzzling against him even more.

"Or maybe you're just easy to please" Kousei hugged her back, teasing her slightly.

"Oh shut up already and let us have this moment" Kaori replied, she wasn't exactly bothered by Kousei's words, she was in such a good mood that it didn't bother her.

After a long day of looking around the aquarium and flirting, sunset would arrive.

"Oh come oonnnnn, today was just perfect. Why'd it have to end so quickly?!" Kaori pouted, letting her annoyance be known to the world as she loudly complained on the way home.

"Yeah, it's annoying. But hey, we can always just go on another date" Kousei tried to reason with her, to soothe her annoyance.

"Yeah, but that's after all the studying! Which would be hellish!" She snapped back, she's not annoyed at Kousei but rather her situation. It's a tough time for the blonde who hasn't even spent a day outside the hospital.

"Touche, but don't worry. I'll help" Kousei calmly replied, quickly latching onto her hand as he slid his fingers in between hers.

It caught Kaori off guard, quickly making her blush.

"Don't get cocky that I'm blushing, you're way more prone to it than I am. I could make you a blushing mess in a second" Kaori playfully grumbled, not liking the fact that she's been caught off guard.

"Yeah yeah, I know what position I'm in" Kousei responded, smiling at her. His smile was something she fell in love with, and no matter how much time passes. Her heart would always melt at the sight.

"See ya senpai!"

A girl shouted, waving to her senior who had just left the softball pitch. It would be the last time she ever set foot on the ground that she had spent 3 years on. The brown haired girl would wave back with a bitter smile.

Tsubaki would run off, wanting to get as far as possible. Being too close would only cause her pain as the memories of her Junior High School life would come back. She would be far too emotional.

She ran aimlessly, running off in the direction opposite of her house where she'd spot two familiar backs and hair colours.

And her heart would sink.

The two had their hands interlocked. And there was no mistaking, the two lovebirds were Kousei and Kaori.

"Huh?...No...No no no! It can't be them...But... their hair, heights. And there's no way I'd mistake Kousei for another. I love the guy, I have all this time...Why are they holding hands? What's going on? W-What? W-Why? A-Are they... dating? Did she dump Watari? K-Kousei picked her over me... W-Why did no one tell me?... W-What's going on?..."

The thoughts raced through her head as she watched the two walk onwards, clutching her chest as tears rolled down her cheeks, falling onto the pavement.
