Summary: With Lady Shade gone, the Onis and the Shadow Clan clash for territorial power.
Under the night sky, Lee and Ella raced across building rooftops. They stopped and looked down at the bookstore. They exchanged nods and magically altered their ninja attire into their school outfits. They flipped forward and landed in an alleyway before walking towards the entrance door and entering inside.
"I don't know, Lee. There hasn't been a manga that has captured my attention lately." Ella said. "I prefer any other books that involve horror or thriller."
Lee reached the manga section, scouting for new manga or the next volume book.
"Oh, come on." Lee said with a smile. "Manga has been one of the most popular literatures in America, not just Japan. Well, that and light novels."
Lee pulled out two manga books and examined them with interest.
"Well, if you need me, I'll be in the horror and thriller section." Ella said. "The more, the scarier for my collection."
Ella walked off, leaving Lee deciding which manga she chose to buy.
Few minutes later, Lee and Ella exited the bookstore with purchased bags.
"Got our books. How about we head to the smoothie shop?" Lee asked.
"Sure. I'm down." Ella replied. "I can go for a watermelon smoothie."
Ella and Lee skillfully jumped up on the rooftop as they sprinted forward with fast speed.
Then suddenly, a pink energy explosion detonated out of nowhere. Ella and Lee instantly halted before turning their heads to the direction of the attack. They immediately sprinted and looked down to see Rosa and Chiffon fighting against a Shadow Elite with three Shadow Ninjas in the alleyway.
"Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" Ella whispered.
"Oh yeah." Lee whispered back. "What the heck is going on?"
In the alley below, Rosa leapt high into the air and fired a large sphere of pink energy as Chiffon spun herself around rapidly and shot out a barrage of orange energy bolts. The Shadow Elite and three Shadow Ninjas managed to dodge energy sphere and bolts before knocking the onis with their magic and weapons.
"I know this isn't our fight, but something's not right." Lee said.
"Yeah, I know they're our enemies. But what's their deal with each other?" Ella agreed.
Suddenly, the sound of police sirens was closely approaching. Rosa and Chiffon traded glares with the Shadow Elite and three Shadow Ninjas for a moment. Then, everyone scattered just before the police cars pulled up.
"Okay, now that was weird." Ella said.
"Ditto." Lee said.
Ella and Lee exchanged confused faces.
In Japan, a young male mystic was meditating in the center of a majestic room. He has black medium-length hair and jade green eyes. He wore a black hakama pants and black foot wraps. As he was meditating peacefully, his cell phone started to ring on the floor. He levitated his phone close to his right ear and answered the call.
"Sienna, what is it?" Kage said.
"Brother, we are in need of your help." Sienna spoke. "The Shadow Clan is…at war with the onis. They want to claim our territory after Lady Shade's absence."
"I'm on my way." Kage said.
Kage ended the call and stood on his feet.
"So, Lady Shade's gone. It is time for me to step up since I'm next in line for leadership." Kage said firmly. "And I'm gonna take care of this crisis my way."
In the Crete Fortress, Lee sat on the couch in the living room. She stared at the battle between the two onis and the Shadow Clan through the crystal ball. She sighed when the battle wasn't giving her exact details on what or why they started fighting in the first place.
Lee moved the crystal ball aside. She got up and walked toward the kitchen, where Ellie was looking in the fridge. Donna and Ella stared at their books just as Saldana walked and noticed the troubled look on Lee's face.
"Is something troubling you, Leona?" Saldana asked.
"No. It's nothing." Lee replied.
"Oh snap." Ellie said. "I forgot to pick up some desserts after tonight's dinner."
"I'll do it." Lee said. "I'm kinda in the mood for some sweets anyway."
"Don't even think about eating them on the way home!" Ellie called out.
"Wouldn't dream of it!" Lee shouted.
Lee walked out of the fortress.
Outside, Lee stood on a rooftop water tower. She jumped down and walked towards the edge to see her favorite dessert shop.
"Hmmm, I wonder what new desserts they got for today?" Lee said. "I hope they have that opera cake I always wanted to try."
Lee's eyes suddenly caught the sight of a squad of Shadow Ninjas leaping across building rooftops up ahead.
"Huh? The Shadow Ninjas? Whatever they're doing, it can't be good." Lee said.
Lee sprinted forward to follow the Shadow Ninjas without being detected.
Meanwhile, Rosa and Chiffon sat on the crates along with Jade, Azura, and Aqua inside a high-tech rated warehouse.
"What's taking Scarlet so long? We need to take action with those human ninjas now!" Rosa said.
"Cool your jets, sister." Azura said.
"She's right. Scarlet is having a meeting with our provider." Aqua said.
"And how long is that gonna take? Rosa and I got our butts kicked by those ninjas." Chiffon said as she began filing her nails. "I'm with her on this. It's revenge time."
Suddenly, the five onis turned their heads when the door swung open. Their eyes lit up in surprise as Scarlet walked towards them. She was wearing a black high-tech armor on her torso.
"Quit whining. You'll get your revenge soon enough." Scarlet said. "Our new provider has shown us all of her interesting high-tech machinery. According to her, this armor will enhance our abilities to new heights. If we follow her battle plans, we'll wipe out the entire Shadow Clan in a blink of an eye." She clenched her hand into a fist. "And once that's done, we'll take control of the city."
Back in the Crete Fortress, Ellie, Donna, and Ella have finished eating their dinner in the dining room.
"Ellie, you did it again." Ella said with a smile. "No matter what you cooked, the flavors have conquered my taste buds."
"I know." Ellie grinned.
"Hey, is Lee back yet?" Donna asked.
"Yeah, what's taking her so long?" Ellie wondered. "It can't be that hard to pick up a dessert for a girl with a sweet tooth."
Ella looked down at the plate for a moment. With slightly wide eyes, she looked up at her sisters.
"Hey, yhere's something Lee and I forgot to tell you earlier." Ella said. "After we got our books from a local bookstore, we saw the Shadow Clan fighting against Rosa and Chiffon in an alley just before the police arrived."
"Wait, what?" Ellie exclaimed in surprise. "But why?"
"Because without Lady Shade, the onis believed the Shadow Clan territory is theirs for the taking." Donna said. "If that happens, then the whole city will be under chaos in an all-out war."
"But you don't think Lee went after them, do you?" Ellie wondered.
"It's possible. Let's go find her." Ella said.
Eventually, the Shadow Ninjas led an undetected Lee to the Shadow Clan headquarters. Lee stood on the edge of a building rooftop as she noticed the building was barely holding itself together. She closed her eyes and focused on every living aura within the building, allowing her to detect the Shadow Ninjas training under the supervision of Sienna and Mira.
"So, this is the aftermath of the Shadow Clan. Oh, how the mighty have fallen." Lee murmured sarcastically.
Lee closed her eyes and sighed.
"Come on out!" Lee called out. "You know I can sense you!"
Ellie, Donna, and Ella emerged from the shadows before walking up to their oldest sister.
"Your aura sense never fails." Ellie said.
"What are you guys doing here?" Lee asked.
"Making sure trouble doesn't come in your way." Donna answered.
"Look, I was at the dessert shop for a minute until I happened to see the Shadow Ninjas heading this way." Lee explained. "I didn't do anything else. I promise."
"Good to know. Now, let's head home." Ella said.
"Uh, guys? You may want to take a look at this." Ellie said, pointing her finger down below.
Ella, Lee, and Donna collectively followed Ellie's finger as they saw the six armored onis standing on the edge of a building rooftop from the opposite side of the Shadow Clan HQ. Standing in the middle between Scarlet and Aqua is Sage. This time, Sage wore a full armored silverish-white cheongsam and silverish-white ankle high, high-heeled boots. Both of her arms looked perfectly normal from Lady Shade's brutal magic.
"Thanks to my devoted knowledge of the Shadow, they have no idea what's coming to them." Sage grinned sinisterly.
"Ellie, invisibility spell." Lee said to Ellie.
"I'm on it." Ellie nodded.
Ellie waved her hand back and forth with a grabbing shape and pointed an orange wisp of magic in front of herself and her sisters, swirling around from top to bottom and instantly turned them completely invisible from their enemies.
"Sage and the onis? Working together?" Donna exclaimed in surprise.
"Talk about a surprising twist." Ellie remarked.
"Doesn't take us four seconds to know what they are planning to." Ella said, placing her hands on her hips.
Scarlet, Chiffon, Jade, Aqua, Azura, and Rosa lifted their hands towards the Shadow Clan HQ. They all fired a large multi-colored energy beam at the wall, exploding it and scattering Sienna, Mira, and the Shadow Ninjas. The onis entered the building and enveloped their fists with blazing energy as they detected the Shadow Clan in their sights. Rosa leapt high into the air and fired a large sphere of pink energy crashing into five Shadow Ninjas. Chiffon sprang up in the air and spun herself around rapidly, shooting multiple orange energy bolts at Mira. But Mira evaded from the raining energy bolts with swift speed. Aqua shot out multiple light blue energy balls at two Shadow Elites that sent them crashing to the wall. Jade shot out two green energized whips from her hands and began swinging them towards the other two Shadow Elites before shaping her whips into energy spheres and launching them at the evil kunoichis. Azura released rapid blasts of blue energy at six Shadow Ninjas. Scarlet lifted both hands and released a flurry of red energy blasts at Sienna, who backflipped away with swift speed.
After avoiding the attacks, Sienna and Mira gathered together and exchanged knowing nods. They grabbed each other's hands and lifted the other hands up in the air, forming a large black magic circle that was cackling with dark energy. They aimed the cackling magic circle at the onis and fired several snakes made out of dark energy strike towards them at full force. The onis scattered and backflipped away from the attack before landing in front of the opening hole on the wall. Scarlet nodded at her comrades and they all turned around and jumped through the hole.
"Huh?" Mira said in confusion.
"Did they just…retreat?" Sienna questioned.
Outside, Sage watched on as the onis returned on the rooftop from behind.
"Excellent work." Sage said. "With the Shadow Clan distracted, I can activate plan B."
"Plan B?" Scarlet repeated.
"Observe." Sage said.
Sage lifted her arms forward and her hands glowed in gray energy. With an evil smile, she snapped her fingers.
Back in the Shadow Clan HQ, several silver-gray grenade bombs that were attached undetectably to the wall activated and then exploded. The building started to shake and crumbled down. Mira clutched to Sienna, who wrapped her magic around themselves in a black dome and vanished from sight before more chunks of rubbles tumbled to the floor.
The Lotus Ninjas looked equally flabbergasted as they couldn't believe what they are seeing. The whole Shadow Clan building began to collapse before their very eyes.
"Oh. Snap." Ella muttered.
