Beautiful
The sun crept between the curtains just enough for it to hit Sirius' eyes, making him stir from his slumber. He had a lazy Sunday ahead of him, nothing to do so he cursed the damn light when it woke him.
He blinked a few times adjusting to the light, just to make sure that when he moved to take his wand, he wouldn't wake up Marlene.
Marlene who was sleeping peacefully next to him.
He could see how the morning light reflected on Marlene's golden and messy locks, her chest rising softly with each breath she took, and even the little drool that fell from the corner of her lip.
Seeing her like that would have freaked him out in the earlier days of dating, when he didn't want to be a sap like James and be in love in the middle of a war. When the most important things were getting Os in all the tests, prepping for the next full moon, and surpassing their last prank.
But now, seeing her at peace, made his heart warm, and content in a way he wasn't sure he ever felt with anyone else.
Yes, he adored James, and Harry made him feel love that he never experienced before, but Marlene⦠Marlene made him love himself for all the parts that he hated, and made him want to be better, do better.
Sirius stared at the woman next to him, thinking of all the things that had happened between them: the fights, the discussions, the secrets, the kisses, the love, and the way life had to bring the best things to you even when everything seemed bleak, and good things were undeserving.
Maybe he was becoming a good old sap like James, but at the moment he didn't care. All he wanted to do was just enjoy the moment that the morning light had given him.
Once annoying, but now filled with so much more than just an unwanted wakeup call.
