The next day, I woke up feeling better. I walked over to Dragedge's room and knocked on the door. I heard a moan and opened the door.
"You should get up and get ready soon. We have lunch with the kids today." I said.
He groaned and gave me a thumbs up. I took a shower and got dressed. Choosing to wear a red hooded dress, black leggings and heeled boots. I put on my black rose necklace. I walked downstairs to Dragedge on the couch with his head back and eyes closed.
"Still not awake?" I asked, smacking his shoulder.
"No." He responded, opening one eye.
We heard a knock on the door a few minutes later. I walked over and welcomed the kids in.
"Are you feeling any better?" Maka asked.
"A little bit." I responded.
"Where should we go?"Tsubaki asked.
"There is a cute little diner that is on the edge of the main area where I used to go all the time with friends." I suggested, holding my necklace.
Dragedge was the only one who noticed and knew the story behind it.
"That sounds good." Everyone agreed.
"Are you going to be ok going there?" Dragedge asked.
I nodded. We started walking toward the city.
"How long did it take you to become a death scythe or create a death scythe?" Maka asked.
"About five years." I answered.
"Have you had any awesome adventures?" Black Star asked.
"There was the job we took in france." I said looking at Dragedge.
He laughed.
"There was a kishin, James bower, he managed to become one of the strongest we faced at the time. It took the two of us, plus the rest of our group. That was a fun one." He continued.
We chatted a little more as they told us about their fight with kishins and how some of them went very wrong.
"I know the feeling of things going wrong." I said, giving Dragedge a look.
"I said sorry for most of it." He said.
"The biggest mission we did was the one we got back from," I said.
"The one with the dragons?" Soul asked.
"Yes. We spent the last four years traveling and searching. We found some lairs and hordes but no dragons. It is hard to tell if they were dead or just went to a different spot. We also helped some of the nonviolent witches and tried to locate some of the more violent ones. Those were difficult." I said.
"That explains why you were unable to come home for so long." Kid said.
"It is. I am so glad to be home." I said , putting an arm around my brother.
We reached the restaurant. I thought I caught a glimpse of someone with green hair and glasses. I paused for a minute to make sure I knew what I saw. Dragedge and kid noticed my confusion.
"You ok?" Dragedge asked.
"Yeah. I thought I saw Hatori for some reason. I know it couldn't have been, he's still in Europe as far as I know." I responded.
"I know you miss him. I think you might be hungry." he said.
"Probably." I said.
"What's wrong?" Tsubaki asked.
"I thought I saw Hatori, my weapon partner. He was reassigned to the europe branch. I haven't seen him in 3 years.'' I answered.
We got our table and sat down. I melted in the chair.
"I will be right back. I have to run to the bathroom." Dragedge said getting up.
(Dragedge went to the bathroom and felt a tap on his shoulder. He turns around to see Hatori behind him.
"Hatori? What are you doing here?" Dragedge asked, in confusion and surprise.
"I got back a few weeks ago. My reassignment is over and I was called back here. I wanted to come here since its mine and grims favorite place. It's good to see you." He said.
"Same. You should come by the table. Grim would be happy to see you."
"I know. But I am going to wait till tomorrow since I will be at the school as Grims help."
Dragedge looked stunned.
"She has been having a rough few days. She has been sick, really sick again, and got your letter yesterday."
"I don't mean to make her upset. I miss her a lot. And I want to see her. I want to surprise her."
"I have to ask, do you love her?"
"Of course I do."
Dragedge smiled.
"Can you do me a favor and not tell her I am back? I can keep an eye on you guys from a distance if needed."
"Sure but please don't wait too long."
He nodded.
Dragedge did his business and walked back to the table.)
"You were gone for a while. Did you fall in?" Kid joked.
"HaHa. no there was a line." Dragedge responded.
I was suspicious but let it go. The waitress walked over.
"Hello Grim, Dragedge. How have you two been?"
"Pretty good. I wanted to show my brother and his friends my favorite diner." I responded.
She smiled, and took our order.
"Why don't we go for a walk by the river after this?" Maka suggested.
"I have no complaints. It's been a while since I went by the river." I answered.
Everyone else agreed. Our food came. Once we finished eating we started walking towards the edge of town towards the river when I felt something was off.
"Do you feel that?" I said turning to Dragedge.
He nodded.
"Hey guys, we need to be careful. I think there is a kishin nearby." I warned.
Before we could reach the park, there was a shot in front of us. I stepped in front of the group and created a barrier. There were a few more shots. They were like gunshots. I was knocked back a little but was able to hold it steady. The rest of the group braced themselves. When the smoke cleared there were seven kishin.
"I got this just watch me. Let's go Tsubaki." Black Star started, grabbing Tsubaki who was in shuriken form.
"Black Star don't!" Dragedge yelled.
The rest of the group charged in. Dragedge came over to make sure I was ok.
"You should stay back. You are still sick and too weak to fight." He said.
"I know but I am not going to let them fight alone. Not only are they my, or our, students but also my brother and his friends. I am responsible for them and not going to sit by them while they are fighting. " I responded.
He nodded. Black Star came flying towards us but Dragedge was able to catch him.
"Are you ok?" He said.
"You bet." Black Star responded.
I manifested a sword and went in. I was able to take out one before being blindsided and went into a building. barely able to stand i got up and switched to a sniper rifle. maka and Dragedge took one down and kid and black star were able to tag team taking one down. I went on one knee and took a shot at a few putting more madness into each shot. 'damn being sick.' I thought to myself struggling to breathe.
"Grim!" I heard Kid yell.
I looked up and saw a silhouette of a kishin in front of me. It brought back memories of the fateful day I discovered my powers. I tried to move but my body was not cooperating.
"Grim, you have to move." Dragedge yelled.
Suddenly a bolt came out of nowhere taking out the kishin.'Was that an arrow?' I thought to myself before losing consciousness.
