Klaus POV.

Something about the doppelganger really got under Klaus' skin, whether it be the way she challenges him or attempts to control him with threatening her own life, purely to prevent him from creating more hybrids. Maybe it was the company she chose to keep, the way they were constantly in a battle of some sort or maybe it was the way he and his family wouldn't be safe until his enemies had all been defeated.

Maybe it was all of the above; regardless, it was time to put Mystic Falls in the rear view mirror and flee the potential death he and his siblings could befall.

Klaus found himself locking Elena back in the bedroom once more, before speeding through the house until he found himself in the foyer, watching as Rebekah returned with the final white oak stake carved from the wickery bride sign; she headed into the living room, straight to the fireplace.

"The last one, Nik, our family are finally safe from this ghastly white oak," a small sigh of relief escaped her lips as she tossed it into the fire, watching as it turned to ash, the fire flickering around it, "I can't believe Finn is dead."

"Good riddance, he was an embarrassment, Rebekah," he watched as the stake had been reduced to nothing but dust and smoke, a wave of relief washing over him.

"He was still your brother, mind your tongue," she responded, a hint of disgust in her tone of voice.

"Fine, lets all say a prayer for Finn, who slept in a box longer than he lived as a man, he was a love sick fool, he's better off in death," he truly believed the words he had spoken, he'd never felt like family to him.

"Is that how you would speak of me if I died?" She responded, a hollowness to her voice that radiated hurt.

"Well, you let the Salvatore's loose with 2 stakes that could kill us, so I guess we'll find out soon enough," he paused momentarily to switch his gaze to his beloved sister, at look of confusion riddled in his facial expressions, "and since when did you have a soft spot for them?"

"The Salvatore's might fight like dogs but in the end they would die for each other," she paused momentarily, searching for any kind of hope in her brothers eyes, "at least they know what family means, you destroyed ours."

"I wanted a family, they just didn't want me and now we're unlinked, we are no longer responsible for each other," he kept his usual cold and emotional-less demeanour about him

"So, are you leaving?" She asked.

"Now that I know the stakes are destroyed, I'm gone, I'm going to take Elena and use her blood to create a new family, of hybrids,"

"And if i choose to stay?"

"Then you're just as pathetic as Finn," he was disappointed, hurt and furious all at once, he stormed out of the room and left his sister behind; he climbed the staircase, making his way back to the room that housed the doppelganger.

Elena's POV

After hearing the front door slam once more, Elena knew Rebekah had left, she felt like she could move more freely; she let out a deep breath and inhaled the air once more, forcing her feet to move towards the window.

She gazed out of the window, looking at the area surrounding the mansion; it was hidden away at the back of Mystic Falls, secluded from the main population, meaning minimal chance of a passerby seeing her call for help, all she could do was wait, wait for someone to eventually find her.

She was snapped back to reality by the bedroom door crashing open, revealing an enraged Klaus before her, "Time to leave, luv."

She watched cautiously as he approached her, each step forceful and with purpose; she couldn't hold back the groan that slipped when he grabbed onto her arm and pulled her from the bedroom, she tried everything to stop this from happening, she was grabbing onto anything she could as she passed, she knocked furniture and decorative pieces such as vases and plants, she screamed and attempted to force his grip of her free but she was unsuccessful and he was becoming angrier by the minute.

"Let me go," she pleaded through clenched teeth, forcing the tears back that so desperately wanted to escape.

A small growl emitted from his lips and he saw red, she suddenly found herself pressed up against a wall, her back had collided with the brick in a flash of a second; he hadn't been this close to her since the night of the ritual, when he had sacrificed her to left the curse. His hand was wrapped neatly around her neck, not tight enough to hurt her but enough so she could feel the burn on his fingers squeezing at her life source.

She could feel his breath on her skin as there faces came in close contact, barely an inch between them; all she could do was lock onto his gaze, watching him carefully before he planned his next moved.

Her eyes filled with tears, her complete fear of him taking over in that second.

"Don't forget who I am, Elena and what I am capable off," he spoke through gritted teeth, his voice low and deep, terrifying, "I can either take you away from here, alive and well or I can drain you dry, until the very last drop is in a bloodbag in the boot of my car, your choice."

She shook her head, almost pleading with her eyes for him to stop; he released the hold he had of her neck and continued to pull her through the house.

As Elena felt her body drop onto on the sofa in the main sitting room, she couldn't help but let her mind wander, her deepest thoughts coming back to haunt her; maybe she had deserved it, maybe this was her destiny, just maybe she was supposed to leave Msytic Falls, the evil and the heartache following with her. All she could keep thinking about is him leaving too, freeing her friends and family from the hybrid, maybe this was supposed to happen. Fated.

Elena pulled herself up into a sitting position, watching as Klaus paced up and down the room, yelling into his cell phone, "Just get me what I need or I'll make you rue the day we ever crossed paths."

Next, his phone was thrown across the room, the small object bouncing from the wall and cracking into a hundred little pieces, a small gasp escaping Elena's lips but she chose to remain silent.

"I can't depend anyone," a small growl escaped his lips as he spoke, the idiocy surrounding him only further enraging him.

"Why? What happened?" She responded in a low voice and only after a short while had passed; she had to think carefully before speaking, she didn't want to add fuel to the fire.

"Well, my dear Elena, a simple request seems to be too much to ask for these days," a sharp breath exhaled from his nose, his lips still pursed in disappointment, "We have to leave before.."

"Before what?" She quickly interrupted, her eyes widening slightly.

"Forget I said anything."

"Fine," she shrugged lightly, turning her full attention onto the hybrid, "so, why aren't we leaving?"

Before he spoke, he moved towards the table that had his liquor bottle perched on it with several glasses sitting beside it, he poured himself a shot of bourbon and consumed it in one, only to repeat again but this time, pouring Elena one too; he returned to her, taking a seat on the sofa opposite, his hand extended towards her with the glass in it, there was no hesitation in taking it from him, taking a small sip to calm her nerves.

"If I'm not mistaken, sweetheart, it almost sounds like you want to leave," A small smirk curled up on his lips, before he brought the glass to them, taking a large swig of his bourbon.

"Who am I to try and fight it?" She responded rhetorically with a small shrug of her shoulders, "maybe it's for the best."

"I suppose that is something to consider," he paused briefly, his mind considering every aspect of watch she said, "you're family would be safer, your friends torment would cease and all the burden you bring them with your doppelganger heritage would remain a thing of their past, I'm surprised you haven't departed sooner."

Each word he spoke was life a knife, prodding at every inch of her heart; it only hurt her so much because it was likely true but to hear it from the one man on this earth she detested was even worse.

"Well then, there's your answer," she brought the glass to her lips and emptied the bourbon into her mouth, the burn down her throat bringing her a sense of relief, her nerves calming, "but there's only one thing you're forgetting, Klaus, I won't help you sire an army of hybrids."

"You dare to deny me, Elena," his whole demeanour changed in an instant, his guard going up even further and the aura surrounding him screaming red, she could feel the tension heighten.

"I'll sooner die."

"And we know how well that idea turned out for Katerina," he bit back, delving further into the games she was trying to play.

"I'm not Katherine, Klaus and you know that," she had to be confident, she had to speak as if she was unphased by this whole situation; even though she was shaking and terrified of what may happen, she had to be brave, she couldn't break now, "shall we make a deal?"

His famous Klaus smirk appeared on his lips in an instant, his eyebrow raising as he sat back on the sofa with his arms spread on the back, "I'm listening."
