I have a few more chapters to post tonight and if all goes well, I'm hoping to keep updating and posting for a good long time. Thank you, everyone!

Quick reminder, my fic is rated M and there will be dark and mature themes throughout, and I'm hoping to maintain a dark story/plot, thanks, guys

Elena stood from the sofa, edging her way to the liquor bottle that Klaus kept near; she poured herself a large shot and continued to walk slowly around the room, taking in all the features it held, the beautiful artwork on the walls, the crown moulding carved into the walls, the furniture that had been carefully selected to decorate the house that belonged to the oldest family in history.

"Don't keep me waiting, luv, I'm not very well known for my patience," he was starting to enjoy the interaction he was having with the doppelganger, he was convinced there was sides to her that haven't been known to those that call themselves her family, he was determined to let them free.

"I'll go with you," she spoke, her eyes gazing upon a piece of artwork on the wall, her back to him and her attention elsewhere, "without a fight, of course but you have to promise me my friends and family won't be harmed, not now, not ever."

"Obviously," he spoke, her predictable answer brought only boredom to him; he stood from the sofa, taking a space behind her and following her gaze onto the painting, "I have no interest in your loved ones, Elena, they were a means to an end, there lives threatened only to gain what I want, your blood."

She almost shuddered at his words, almost; instead, she felt a wave of dread wash over her, it was like her mind was clear, she knew she couldn't leave her home, she couldn't leave Mystic Falls and her family, especially with the worlds most deadly monster, he would drain her dry and barely bat an eyelash.

But ultimately, she had to keep saying what he wanted to hear, she had to stall long enough for someone to find her.

She could feel him behind her, his heat radiating on her back and he felt so close, she could hear his breathing, she felt uncomfortable to say the least, "and you can have my blood for your hybrids but you have to swear to me, you won't let anything bad happen to me, you won't treat me as if I'm just a bloodbag, I'm human, Klaus."

"Deal," he said almost instantaneously, a small chuckle escaping his lips.

"What's so funny?" She asked, confusion set as she turned to face him, her gaze shifting upwards to catch his.

"There isn't much on this earth that I couldn't give you, Elena, almost everything is within my power to grant you and all you require from me is your guaranteed safety, seems like a wasted deal," he locked his gaze onto hers, his head dipping and leaning closer towards her, finding a small amount of amusement in there proximity.

"Well, I guess I'm just not that materialistic," she stared at his facial features for a few long moments, looking at the curve of his jaw, the dimple in his cheeks when he smirks at her, the evil and terror in his eyes and all she could feel from him was hate; she took in a sharp breath and broke there gaze, taking a few steps back and collecting herself.

"Fair enough, sweetheart," he cleared his throat, his amusement still at an all time high, "there are a few more arrangements to be made and then we'll be on our way. As for earlier, I do apologise for intimidating you, dragging you through the house as it where, my lovely sister brings out the worst in me, no need for haste now we have our arrangement."

She just nodded her head in agreement before taking a seat on the sofa once more, waiting for her moment to escape or for someone to come crashing through the doors to take her away from here... Or at least, she hoped.

The evening was approaching, Klaus hadn't left the main living room, everything that needed to be arranged was done on the phone, he'd kept a close eye on the doppelganger but she hadn't moved, barely an inch, she still remained seated on the sofa with the same liquor glass in her hand. She'd had a couple more shots, keeping her nerve cool.

"I have one more thing to deal with, wait here," he spoke, his jaw clenched as if his patience had gone; he sat his glass down and used his speed to fly up the stairs.

Her heart began pounding, her entire body shaking from fear and adrenaline; she couldn't wait any longer, she had to leave.

Slowly standing from the sofa, she began to tip-toe carefully across the floor, edging her way to the front door that was within sight; she had to be quick but she couldn't make a sound, she had to as quiet as a mouse if she was going to make it across the threshold, she even held her breath for fear of it being too loud.

As she neared the door, she could hear the floorboards above her creak where he was pacing across the upper rooms, his voice growing louder with his anger at whom ever was on the other end of the phone call. Her hand was reaching out towards the door handle, each step being as quiet as she could possibly make them and without a second thought, she turned the handle and raced from the Mikaelson mansion.

Elena ran and she kept running, her life depended on it; all she could think about was getting away, the faces of her loved ones kept flashing through her mind, tears began to stream down her face at how much she missed them and how scared she was, not just for herself but for them, she had to make it out of here, she had too.

She was halfway across the field, she could start to see the lights at the centre of Mystic Falls creep up on the horizon, she was minutes away from being reunited with her family.

But within seconds, all hope was gone, everything around her came tumbling down when she felt her body crash onto the floor and roll, leaving her flat on her stomach; once again, she collided with Klaus when he had appeared out of no-where, his speed and strength feeling like running head first into oncoming traffic, taking her out completely.

She propped herself up onto all fours, coughing slightly and trying to find the strength in her legs to stand but to no avail; all she could do was scramble, she turned herself around and tried to pull herself away from him, his eyes where shining a bright gold hue and his fangs retracted, she had a whole new level of fear.

"No, Klaus, no, stop," she pleaded, tears streaming and her voice shaky, she kept trying to pull herself back but he was approaching her slowly, the last flicker of strength she had remaining in her legs failing her, she collapsed to the ground but Klaus was angry, he was made to be a fool and he couldn't allow that. He needed the doppelganger and he wouldn't waste even another minute longer.

A low growl escaped his lips, using his vampiric speed, he jolted towards her, grabbing her by the arms and pulling her up; she let out a scream as he sunk his fangs into her neck, his arms encasing her as he drew more of her blood, the sweet taste of the doppelganger trickling down his throat, it was almost too much for him too handle. He never had any intention of ending her life, he listened carefully to her heartbeat, waiting for it too slow just enough to prove his point, that he was in charge and he wasn't going to tolerate her games any longer.

The lights that she saw where starting to fade, her breathing laboured and she was slowly starting to weaken until she passed out from the blood loss; her final moments of consciousness were spent trying to fight back but he barely felt the swing of her arm or the pull of her body away from him, he was too strong, and then everything went dark.

Klaus POV

Centuries of running, living in fear, trying to build a home for himself and his siblings, only to be abandoned by each one of them now, when it all mattered.

Klaus was tired of the games, the constant need to do violent and inexplicable acts to gain what he needed... wanted, to ensure his safety, make his enemies understand his true power and the lengths he would go to be feared by all. The doppelgänger was no different.

He had spent the afternoon in the main sitting area, watching the doppelgänger, making a new deal and offering her that flicker of control she so desperately sought but it was just a mirage, she held no true power, he could end her life with the snap of his fingers.

Ring, ring, ring, ring.

A small growl emitted from his lips as he reached for his back up phone, buried within his inside jacket pocket; he read the caller ID and answered it with an eye roll, "you better bring me good news."

"I have one more thing to deal with, wait here," he spoke to Elena before hastily running upstairs, away from listening ears and ready to rip one of his newer hybrids a new one.

"sir, I have most of your demands met, everything is prepared and ready for your arrival, except for the witch, she refuses to aid you in your manipulation of the doppelgänger anymore, as she put it," the voice on the other line spoke, a tremble to his voice that can only happen when you disappoint your hybrid sire.

"did you threaten her enough, Michael? Did you tell what would become of her family if she did not obey?" He spat back, his patience thinning.

"everything short of killing her, sir, I had to leave before she used her magic to kill me."

He paced around the rooms, his footsteps becoming louder the angrier he became; he pressed his forehead to his hand out of pure frustration, when he suddenly heard the handle of the front door open and what he assumed was the doppelgänger escaping, he moved the phone away from his ear slightly to listen in, a growl escaping his lips.

"Klaus, what is it?" Michael asked.

"The doppelgänger is attempting to escape," he sighed, bored.

"Do you need assistance in capturing her again, sir?"

"I'm allowing her a head start, that last tiny bit of hope she has to be saved needs to be crushed," he spoke through gritted teeth before hanging up the phone and leaving the mansion in a flash.

The hybrid heard her across the field, the whimper in her breathing, the fast rate of her heart, the panting as she tried to near her escape but his frustration and rage overcame him; he appeared in front of her, her body crashed against his and he watched as she fell and rolled across the grass.

He would find amusement in her suffering if he had not already been tested enough today, he slowly followed her as she tried to get away, her pleading only enraging him further, there was only one thing he could do to prove his point, to seal there plan,

He blurred in front of her, his fangs sinking into her neck and the press of her body against his only drew him to her further; why did she taste so sweet?

Her body sunk into his arms and she stopped fighting him, he pulled his teeth back from her and lifted her into a cradled position in his arms before speeding back to the house again; no more games, no more power plays, it was time.
