Night time was upon them and the full moon neared, Elena still remained in an unconscious state; the others had not left her side but they were growing increasingly worried about her, she hadn't moved in hours.
Davina had proceeded to set up the ritual, just in case she awoke and they had time to perform it; she drew a circle of salt on the floor and filled it with everything natural and witchy, herbs, concoctions, earth, flowers, water, fire, blood, relics and talismans. She started mixing some of the ingredients in a bowl that was placed upon her table.
Elijah had joined her in the foyer, watching her carefully as she began to bless the ritual, "so, how does this work?"
"Well, when I wrote the spell, I actually took inspiration from your mothers curse ritual to unlock the hybrid she had shackled away; when you gave me her grimoire to study, there was a lot of information in there about unlocking true natures and how to seal them, so I used it," she continued to sprinkle things within the bowl and stir as she talked, "the spell will unlock the suppressed magic within her and I'm going to channel myself into the spell, I'm a powerful harvest girl that didn't complete the sacrifice, I have too much power and it's going to kill me, so in order for her to be fully connected to New Orleans, I'm going to siphon some of that magic into her for a balance, every ounce of magic and power that comes from her lineage will be unlocked and she'll be who she is truly meant to be."
"Is it dangerous?" Elijah asked, his worry obvious.
"Every spell is dangerous, she's fully aware of the risks but if done properly, then everything should go smoothly."
A sudden outburst of screaming emerged from upstairs, Elijah's and Davina's eyes widened as they ran towards it; he had sped off a lot quicker than her though and returned to Elena's side. She was clutching at her head, her body tossing about on the bed and blood started to trickle from her nose and ears.
"No, no, no," Elijah muttered under his breath as he attempted to hold her down, but something out of the window behind her bed caught his eye, the moon almost at its apex and an idea came to him; just as Davina came running in, he spoke, "the moon."
"She needs the ritual, hurry or she's going to die," she exasperated as she ran back out of the room and returning to her ritual table; Elijah swept Elena up in his arms and cradled her, holding her closely as he blurred her to Davina, "put her in the centre of the circle, quickly!"
Elijah obliged and lay her down gently, his eyes squeezing shut as the thought of losing her broke him down; he turned his attention to Davina and approached her, a look of desperation within him, "would channelling us help?"
"Yes," she answered quickly, acquiring as much power as she could from the original brothers; they were all linked and Davina began chanting, there where waves of energy blasting around the room but they held strong.
Suddenly, a large blast of encircled dark energy came hurling at the gates of the compound, a gasp escaped Davina's lips and it distracted her momentarily from the spell, "I put a protective barrier up but it won't last long."
"Keep going," Klaus called out loudly over the chaos of the spell and she obliged; a powerful wind swirled around the room and fires where starting inside the circle of salt around Elena, the natural objects she had placed inside becoming inflamed as the ritual started to take effect.
More power balls of energy came hurling at the compound and the barrier was weakening, Elijah could have swore he saw what looked like a blackened ethereal ghost float past the door but he couldn't be sure. He was sure that he had seen several of the Soul Eaters that he had crossed earlier in the church standing a fair distance away from the compound, trying to gain entry and destroy the building.
"Is this a bad time?," Kol said as he and Rebekah appeared in front of the gate, small smirks spread across their features, "It's about time we all joined up again."
"Don't worry, brothers, we got this," Rebekah spoke, before they both vanished into the night; Elijah and Klaus were overjoyed to see the presence of there siblings and they where all together as one again; the attack on the compound had stopped temporarily and Davina was free to continue with the spell.
"I'm losing power," she yelled out, "there's so much magic to awaken and I don't have the power to finish it."
But she continued to chant, forcing past the pain within her but she dropped to her knees; Elijah and Klaus held onto her but they were starting to worry, they looked at each other as if everything was about to end.
When Elijah suddenly felt the hold he had of Klaus separate and rejoin in Rebekah's and Kols hands and they all joined in a circle, "always and forever, brothers."
A blast of power surged through Davina, her head flew back and a loud scream emitted from her lips; she stood to her feet and she felt the most powerful she ever had and finished the spell; the Soul Eaters continued in there attack and the barrier was about to come down, her chanting grew louder and more intense, Rebekah looked up to the skies and saw a large grey cloud float over them, a shock of lightening blasting through the compound and onto the circle, it hit the flames and Elena and a flurry of smoke encircled them.
Davina had just about finished chanting and the spell was complete, they all watched as the smoke cleared and Elena's eyes shot open; a loud gasp escaped her lips and her whole body trembled with the magic that now coursed through her at lightening speed.
It kept building and building, she scrambled to her knees as she tried to contain it for as long as she could, her arms where tightly wrapped around her as she struggled and she shouted out, "get back."
Marcel grabbed the now weakened Davina and all the vampires darted to the back of the room, hiding behind every piece of furniture within it and Elena suddenly flew her head back, a loud scream of pain bursting through her lips as the energy poured out, she held her hands out beside her and she released a blow of pure energy on the entire area, stretching for miles around the compound.
The Soul Eaters had vanished and the effect of the blast had all of the vampires clinging onto each other for fear of being lost in it; when the room started to calm and the spell came to an end, they all peered there heads over the back of the sofas, revealing an all powerful but weak Elena.
She was breathing heavy and a blast of white light flashed along her skin, if you took your eyes off of her for even a second, you would have missed it.
Elena felt different but she couldn't explain it, she extended her hands in front of her and inspected them, seeing that flash of light for a quick second before looking around her, seeing her in the centre of the salt circle and she felt confused; she was still wearing the dress she had on at Rousseau's and there was blood on her still from the basement.
"Elena?" She heard that all too familiar voice and it warmed her heart, she lowered her hands onto her lap, broke her concentration on them and turned to face Elijah; she watched as he slowly walked towards her, a look of relief on his face as he saw her there alive. He appeared in front of her, followed by Klaus, then Marcel, Rebekah, Kol and Davina and they all kneeled around her to be at her level.
Her eyes began to well up and a few tears rolled down her cheeks before she pulled Elijah into her, holding him in a long embrace and the others joined in, encasing her in a tight hug.
When they all finally released each other, Elijah and Klaus helped her to her feet; she shook off her dizziness and stood as firm as she could.
"How do you feel?" Klaus asked, his fingers trailing along her cheek; she was warmed by his touch and sometimes, she missed it ever so slightly.
"I'm fine, I think," she spoke, her hand clutching at her hair in attempts to steady her body, "what happened?"
"Davina finished the spell," Elijah spoke, his eyes searching within her hues for anything that may be wrong with her, "she awakened your magic."
"What?" Her lips partly slighted and she turned to face the young witch, her arms instantly wrapping around her and she pulled her into a hug, "thank you, Davina, I'm not really sure what happened but I think you just saved my life."
"Don't mention it," she grinned, before Elena quickly wiped the bloodstain away from her lip that accumulated from her nose.
"That must have been a serious spell, D," she suddenly felt guilty, this young girl that Elena called friend and even sister, had risked her life for her and she could have been seriously hurt.
"I had help," she smiled kindly at the Mikaelsons, grateful for allowing her to channel them; Elena followed her gaze and she looked at them all, her eyes widening slightly.
"Rebekah?" She looked at the blonde vampire, a look of confusion spreading over as she continued to look to the other surprise guest, "Kol?"
"The one and only," Kol smirked, his famous attitude quirks apparently.
"Klaus called me this morning and told me everything, from the day he took you to the Soul Eaters, he said he needed our help to save you so we got here as quick as we could," Rebekah explained, smiling towards her brother and looking at him with a loving stare.
"You came here to save me?" Elena reiterated, completely taken aback by her kindness; they'd never really been friends and they had betrayed each other countless times, she wanted her to rejoin her family but she thought she would have had more of fight on her hands than this.
"Klaus told me everything, Elena, how important you are to him and Elijah, how you've helped them, fought for them, stood by them and how you've become a part of this family, I'm willing to let bygones be bygones if you are, love," she grinned, walking towards Elena and extended her hand out towards her, "after all, us girls have to stick together."
Elena was overwhelmed, a wide smile had appeared on her lips and she shook her hand, she was going to enjoy getting to know Rebekah and hopefully become just as close to her as she is with the two brothers.
"As for me, saving you was just a plus, I happen to rather miss New Orleans, I'm sure I'm going to have lots of fun here," Kol was going to be a tougher nut to crack, he was sadistic and emotionless but she enjoyed a challenge.
Elena was so happy to see the Mikaelson family together again, she could see the pure joy it brought to Elijah and Klaus, they where the last piece missing to make the family complete and she was excited to see how it would unfold.
She was overloaded with emotion that she felt as though she couldn't contain it, she felt it radiate around her like a breeze of wind that swirled amongst them all and that's when she realised, it actually was.
"Erm, Elena, I don't mean to put a dampener on this beautiful moment but is that you making the wind?" Davina asked, her gaze shifting between her and Marcel.
She turned her attention to Davina and the magic dropped, the air becoming still once again, "what does that mean?"
"You have a lot of power now, you just need to get a handle on it, starting with your emotions but don't worry, we'll work on it," she reassured, stroking her arm slightly for comfort.
"We should get you home, you need rest," Elijah spoke before grabbing a hold of her elbow; she nodded her head in agreement before saying her goodbyes and vanishing from the compound.
