Wednesday, February 14th, 2024. The most romantic day of the year. It was Valentine's Day, and every couple in Jellystone had plans. Mud Bug Cafe was hosting a special couples night, and that's where everyone was going to go.
For once the Detective District had a little bit of color, with all the red roses and pink hearts being passed around town. The Detective Quadrant that lived in that town never really participated in Valentine's Day. Sure, two of the four detectives were in a relationship, but romance wasn't really their thing.
So neither of them were expecting a bouquet of flowers to arrive at the office. The delivery boy, Peter Potamus, arrived that morning with a package for the detectives.
"Special Delivery for…Super Snooper," Peter said, reading the package. Snooper was the only female detective in the Quadrant, and it wasn't uncommon for those in the district to flirt with or fawn over her. But Snooper was already in a relationship with her lifelong detective partner Blabber, and Blabber never really gets her flowers, so why was this here?
"Does it say who the package belongs to?" Snooper asks. Peter reads the box again.
"It says ... 'From your Secret Admirer'," Peter says.
"Ooooh, looks like you got an admirer," Undercover Elephant teased. Snooper takes the package and shoos Peter out of the office, just in case the package was a bomb.
The detectives open the package and see a bundle of roses from the flower shop across the street.
"How does this person know I like roses?" Snooper asks, surprised. "I never disclose that information to anyone other than you guys."
"Looks like we got ourselves a stalker!" Blabber suddenly shouts. "Someone is trying to steal my girl!"
"Calm down, Five Seconds of Summer!" Undercover shouts back.
"There's a note attached to the bouquet," Inch High points out. Snooper takes the card sticking for the roses and reads it:
"To my beloved Snoopy (ugh!),
Happy Valentine's Day my love, It's been an honor watching you grow and loving you everyday (EWWW). Let me take care of you dear (Who wrote this?!). Meet me at the Mud Bug Cafe tonight for Couples Night. There's something very special I wanna give to you (Is this person asking me out?!).
Love, Your Secret Admirer"
Now Blabber was fuming. How dare someone ask out his lover on Valentine's Day? Especially since he was also planning on taking Snooper to the Mud Bug Cafe.
"This is the cheesiest love letter I've ever read," Snooper says, putting the card down. "How am I supposed to deal with this stalker? Blabb and I already have plans!"
"I have an idea!" Undercover says. "We turn this date into a mission. Snooper, you go on that date, while the rest of us spy on you two."
"And then we can catch the stalker in the act and expose him to the rest of the town," Inch High continues. "It's Couples Night. Everyone will be at the cafe."
"Don't I get a say in this?" Blabber asks. "This is my girlfriend."
"She's not your property!" Inch High scolds.
"That's not what I was implying," Blabber says.
"Fellas, fellas, calm down," Snooper says,getting in between them. "Blabb, we need to find this stalker. I don't want whoever they are to come after all of us just to get to me."
The scene cuts to a hypothetical situation where the gang receives another package. Snooper opens it, and it's a pipe bomb, blowing up the office and possibly killing them all.
The scene cuts to present day and Snooper is panicking about a scenario she literally just made up.
"We won't let any pipe bombs be delivered to this house," Undercover promises before looking at the rest of the group. "Everyone, it's time we initiate: Operation Valentine."
"Hope this plan works better than Operation Coyote Vs ACME," Blabber said.
Everyone returns home to their apartment rooms. Blabber sighs as he sees Snooper getting ready for the plan. Snooper kneels down and puts a hand on his shoulder.
"It's okay. I know how much you wanted to take me, but I can't risk losing you or any of the others," Snooper says. "There's always next year."
Snooper gives him a peck on the lips before going to get ready. She takes off her coat and throws it on the ground, covering Blabber with it. Once Blabber heard the shower turn on, he ran out of their apartment and out into the hall. Inch High and Undercover were there, too.
"Ok, remember the plan?" Blabber asks them.
"Yep. I go as the stalker, pretend to fight you, and then we reveal that it was actually a marriage proposal," Undercover says, before changing his outfit into a robe.
"Could you not have picked something that wasn't suspicious?" Blabber asks.
"Hey, you wanted a stalker, right?" Undercover asks back.
"I guess you're right. Well, Snooper only takes quick showers, so she should be done soon," Blabber said. "To your places everyone!"
Everyone goes back into their rooms. Blabber makes it just in time to see Snooper come out of their shared room, freshly showered and wearing an olive dress with matching heels.
"You're wearing my favorite dress for that stalker's date?" Blabber asks, sounding a little hurt but was clearly acting.
"It's my only dress!" Snooper says in her defense. "Now let's hurry, we don't want to keep that stalker waiting."
Snooper and Blabber leave the apartment. Blabber didn't really need to change, since he was gonna be hiding in the bushes the whole time. Snooper mentioned only having one dress, but Blabber was determined to buy her another one:
A wedding dress.
