After the spa session was finished, Elena found herself back at the plantation, a glass of red wine in hand and standing on the balcony that was attached to their bedroom; she was thinking more into the ritual, the wedding tomorrow and how contented she felt about her life.

Elijah was with his brothers, Marcel and Jeremy for the tuxedo fittings and she enjoyed what few moments she had alone before the chaos of the wedding would ensue.

She thought about what Bonnie had said about having everything she ever wanted for her life and she realised just how true that was, she was marrying her soulmate, she had a beautiful family, career prospects and a whole city that would protect her until the end.

Her mind wandered to how much she was missing Elijah, she knew their day had been wildly busy and left for very little time to be spent together but the connection she felt to him since the spell was deep and it made her heart hurt when he was away. Maybe it was the Empath gift mixing with the side effects of the ritual but it was unbearable.

She left the sanctuary of her bedroom to return to the main area of the house, she opened the bottle of wine she had previously left on the side and poured herself a small glass in attempt to settle her emotions.

Walking into the kitchen, her brow furrowed when she saw a half-filled glass of scotch on the side that wasn't there before and the door leading to the garden was open, she became more and more nervous the closer she came to it and her mind flashed to the potential dangerous situation she was putting herself in.

She stepped out onto the deck and glanced around, there was nothing or no-one insight and she was starting to become worried; she looked into the darkness that was the night and saw no glimmer of a person or sound that was near and she shrugged it off.

She felt a sudden blast of wind trail along the nape of her neck and she spun around quickly, only to see no-one there; her heart raced as it happened again and she turned to see no-one, before she had the chance to run inside, she felt the crash of a body against her back, her face was covered with a beanie and it had been pulled right down to her neck within the flash of a second.

She was sped through the house like a blur and she screamed, her fear rising as she felt a cold flash emit through her body until she felt herself be tossed into the back of what she assumed was a van and she landed on a chair; she was frantic, her breathing was rapid and she pulled off the mask that covered her face.

"Surprise!!" All of her girl friends yelled as she tore away the mask and she jolted, her face had terror written all over it and she couldn't process what just happened, "Bachelorette Party!!"

She looked around, each of the girls where dressed in party wear, they had champagne on ice, LED lights illuminating around what she now knew was a town car and they each wore a sash that had their role in the wedding party wrote on it.

"Are you all crazy?" She exclaimed, taking a deep breath and attempting to collect herself, "you can't just pretend to kidnap me a day before my wedding!"

Her panic brought them no end to their amusement and Caroline sped beside her to give her a hug but she couldn't stop her laughing, "I told them it was risky but they were right, your face was priceless."

"We're sorry, forgive us?" Rebekah said as she slid inside the car and sat beside her, a wide grin on her lips at her terror filled face; she reached across to the sofa opposite her and held up a dress, "I picked you out a stunning party dress."

Elena looked amongst the girls and then Rebekah, her eyes narrowing as she saw the dress and she snatched it out of her hand, "Fine but you're lucky I'm not killing you all out of principle. Human or not," she playfully glared at Davina and Cami with a smirk spread on her lips.

"It's your bachelorette party, there was no other way," The girls laughed as Cami spoke and poured her a glass of champagne, she pouted her lips out and held it towards her, "truce?"

"I guess I can't stay mad forever," she took the champagne glass from her hand and brought it to her lips, taking a large sip and flashing them a quick grin, "so, a bachelorette party, huh?"

They all cheered as Rebekah waved her hand at the driver and he took off; just as she was about to settle into her seat, she felt her phone vibrate in her jacket pocket and she slid it out, reading Elijah on the caller ID, she answered and pressed the phone to her ear, "Hey, you're not going to believe what just happened."

"Are you okay?" His voice was filled with panic and it brought an air of confusion to her.

"Yeah, I mean, I nearly killed my entire wedding party but that's a different story," she said with an amused grin on her lips and a furrowed brow, "what's going on?"

"I can't explain it, I just had this sense that you were in danger and you were scared," his voice was starting to settle and his nerves calmed.

"Well, leave it to your delightful sister to plan a false kidnapping the day before our wedding," her brow furrowed further when she came to the realisation of what he was saying, "wait, have you been feeling me all day too?"

"Since the spell earlier, when we separated to handle our wedding duties, it's like I've been connected to you," he sounded equally as confused as Elena.

"Me too," she couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, she assumed it was her Empath gift channelling him, "Bonnie said it was a side effect of the spell, it should subside."

"As long as you're safe."

"I am," a soft smile curled on her lip and even hearing his voice healed her yearning heart, "I can't wait to see you later, I love you."

"Likewise, I love you," he spoke with a softness and tenderness in his tone of voice that meant he was detesting the separation as much as she was and it made her miss him more.

The awww's started the second she hung up the phone and she shook her head lightly, shooting daggers at her loved one's and laughing, "where are you even taking me?"

The car pulled up on Bourbon Street outside one of the most popular night clubs in town, The Famous Door, there was lights emerging from the building and it flashed across the street like a disco; there was people bustling about and she spotted some of Marcel's vampires speeding about the outside and encouraging the crowds.

She had changed into the party dress in the town car and she loved it, it was a black, low-cut V-Neck with adjustable spaghetti straps and ruched bodycon silhouette that hugged her figure perfectly. It was composed of a mesh-lined fabric with headstone embellishments all over the dress.

It was shorter than she was used too but with the black stiletto heels to match, it gave an air of classy to the party style dress it was and she wore the bride-to-be sash; she hadn't been on a night in the town since before she arrived in New Orleans and she looked forward to dancing with her girls.

They slid out of the town car and came together in a group, Rebekah instantly took her camera out of her purse and held it up in selfie mode, they all piled against each other and grinned before she took the shot.

"This way, girls," Rebekah said as she approached the queue to enter and they walked past it, much to the dismay of the crowds of people waiting to go in; they approached security at the entrance and Elena instantly recognised him.

"Trent?" She said with a shocked expression, a small chuckle escaping her lips, "since when do you man night clubs?"

"Since Klaus asked me to keep an eye on you tonight, have a good one," he pulled back the red rope and stepped aside for them to enter, "be good, girls."

They all held each others hands and held them up as they walked past Trent and entered, Cami and Caroline were so excited they couldn't help but woo upon entering; she could feel the vibrate of the loud music radiate around her and all she could feel was the positive vibes and excitement from everyone in the building.

Rebekah lead them towards another area that was being guarding by security and it lead up to the VIP floor, Elena was astonished. As they approached, she realised she recognised another one of Klaus' hybrids and grinned, "Henry, let me guess, Nik sent you to watch us?"

"I'm under strict orders, ma'am," she wasn't overly familiar with Henry, Trent had been the one she was the most friendly with considering he watched her a lot in the early days of her arrival in New Orleans.

"Well, if I see a threat I'll be sure to call you," she said in a playful and sarcastic manner as he pulled back the red rope and they all shimmied past him, climbing the stairs by and walking across the floor until they found their booth.

There was a tray of shots, champagne on ice, a bottle of red wine and glasses; Rebekah popped open the champagne and poured them all one, they all clinked their glasses and cheered before they all started dancing.

Several hours had passed and Elena found herself in the centre of the dance floor surrounded by her loved ones and a large crowd filled with positive energies.

The girls were positively inebriated and having a good time but when the last song of the night finished playing, it was time to leave and Elena was met with much disapproval.

"You all stay, i'll ask Trent to take me home, he can't hurt me if he's under Klaus' orders," she said to the group with a wide smile before giving them all a hug, "I will not spoil your fun, just be careful, okay?"

"We're not going to leave you alone, 'Lena, not on the eve of your wedding night," Rebekah said, raising her voice to talk over the loud music and the crowds.

"I won't be alone, Trent will take home and Elijah should be waiting for me, I've waited to see him all day so I fully intend on spending the last few hours remaining of this day in bed with my fiancée," Elena smirked, knowing full well admitting her intentions would nauseate enough to not want to be involved.

"Fine, call me if you run into trouble," Rebekah responded before they both kissed each other on the cheek and she said her goodbyes to her loved ones.

She exited the club and joined at Trent's side, she knew she had nothing to worry about with a hybrid on her side and Marcel's vampires where keeping tabs too, wherever she went there was eyes on her and she felt safe.

Trent opened the door to the town car and she slid in, followed by him sitting on the sofa opposite to her, he alerted the driver to take them home and the journey begun.

There was an awkward silence that filled the car, she took the opportunity to check her phone and saw a text from Elijah, she opened it and smiled at his words.

"A bubble bath and champagne await your return, I look forward to seeing you, my love."

She started typing in response, her smile unwavering and her heart yearning to be with the one she loves, "On our way now, I can hardly wait."

She slid her phone back into her pocket and turned to face Trent, he was remaining cautious in his job to protect Elena, he knew how important she was and if he failed Klaus, he would die, his concern was apparent.

"Do you want a drink?" She asked with a kind smile as she reached for the bottle of wine and two glasses; he didn't have the chance to respond until she began pouring and offering him the glass.

"Thanks, ma'am," he took the glass and nursed it in his hand. She extended hers towards him and they tapped them together, offering kind smiles to each other.

"So, outside of hybrid duties, what do you do?" She asked kindly, taking a large swig of her wine and focusing her attention on him.

"I have a family, I spend any spare moment I have with them," he responded, and she saw the happiness light up in his features at the mention of them.

"That's nice, I'm glad you found contentedness even with your hybrid nature," Elena said.

They weren't far from the plantation when the car came to a sudden stop, they both looked at each other with a hint of confusion and just as Trent was about to see to the driver, his neck was snapped and his body fell lifeless to the floor, the wine spilt out and left a red puddle around him.

"What the-"

Her sentence was cut short by the sudden appearance of a male witch, he was sat down on the sofa opposite her and made no move; she raised her eyebrow and sat back in her chair, taking a sip of her wine and remaining blank.

"Do you know who I am?" He asked after a minutes silence, his eyes unfaltering in his cautious stares upon her, as if he was sizing her up and trying to figure out her next moves.

"I remember you from the Unification meeting and the ritual, you're a Tremé witch," Elena watched him carefully, his true motives unbeknownst to her and she didn't like the disadvantage, "remind me of your name?"

"Vincent," a small breath exhaled from his nose as he sat back in his chair, the tension between them building as the conversation progressed, "Vincent Griffith."

"What can I do for you, Vincent?" She spoke, taking another sip of her wine as she continued to radiate the confidence and bravery she needed to not be portrayed as a victim, "I would like to understand why you think it appropriate to attempt to intimidate an Elder the night before her wedding?"

"I'm not here to hurt you, simply to offer you an invitation," a small smirk appeared on her lips at his words, not only did she find his belief in bringing her harm as a way of scaring her amusing, she was unsure as to why he would be a messenger.

"An invitation to where?" She was becoming bored and it was apparent in her overly relaxed features.

"To see our Regent," without warning, he began channelling his power and allowing it to emit from his hand, a small chant later, she found herself being teleported away from the car and into a strange living room.

She instantly went on the defence and glanced around, seeing Vincent standing behind her, several more witches dotted about the room, one of which was playing the violin and sitting on a chair before her was an elderly woman, one she assumed was Regent.

"Josephine LaRue," a small wave of fear washed over Elena, as once again, she found herself in an unfamiliar location and dangerous situation that she may not leave unscathed from.

"How wonderful it is to finally meet the revered doppelganger turned Elder," she was well spoken and kind in her welcoming of Elena, she held her hand outwards the seat opposite her and gestured for her to sit, "the ancestors speak of you often, they thought it time we meet."

"Forgive me if I come across as rude but I don't often take kindly to being kidnapped," Elena responded as she took a seat opposite the regent and fixed her line of sight onto her, "what spurred this surprise meeting?"

"I assure you, you have not been kidnapped, you're welcome to leave as you please but I suggest you listen to what I have to say first," Josephine was nursing a cup of tea in her hands, Elena noticed the swollen and frail nature of her fingers and she could feel the curse that had been placed upon them, "the reason behind your abrupt summoning was per the ancestors request."

"I'm listening."

"As per my role as Regent, I have been tasked with many responsibilities and my most sacred of them is the protection of the witches within all nine covens, including you," she sipped at her tea and turned to look at the violinist in the corner, "the ancestors often speak of you as if your a miracle, a force of nature that New Orleans needed to end the suffering of the witches within it, hence why they have allowed you to stay on as Elder and channel their well."

"I have been more than happy to solidify peace amongst the species within the city, I work hard every day to maintain the position of the witches and they have been treated with respect by even the most savage of creatures that live here," she spoke, furthering her cause.

"And it does not go unrecognised or unappreciated," she slowly stood from her chair and approached Elena, gesturing for her to stand and walk with her, "which is precisely why the ancestors wanted me to inform you of a vision I had, they made it quite clear that they want you to know instead of facing it alone and unaware."

Elena stood from her chair and walked beside her to the opposite side of the room, standing before the violinist and listening to the melody she played, "what warning?"

"I saw both a bright light and a deep darkness in your future, you will find a pure joy from the light but it could also lead to the destruction of everything you hold dear, your family, the factions and eventually the city we all call home," The Regent turned to face Elena, a solemn look spread across her features, "if you are to go through with the union between you and the vampire, this could come to pass."

"The future can always change, it changes with every decision made or path we choose to take," Elena met her gaze and refused to believe something as pure as her love for Elijah could produce anything so dark.

"If you cannot protect the light and harness it for a power of nature then the ancestors and the covens will have no choice but to destroy it before it is allowed to destroy us first."

"Do you know what this power is?"

"The prophecy is hidden behind a hundred powerful spells that came from a different time and a power far greater than anything we could imagine, nature created it to protect us which is why we have not interfered but I will be forced to step in if any of our lives are threatened," Josephine's tone of voice had became suddenly serious and Elena didn't know what she intended to do.

"Do you know anything that I don't? Believe it or not, I'm actually terrified of this prophecy and I don't wish to see anyone come to harm from my decisions," she pleaded with Josephine, her desperation apparent on her facial features.

"What I do know is the power you will gain from becoming a Mikaelson and the mirroring ritual will be vast but it also has a lot of secrets within it that you are not a aware of, you must be prepared to take that risk upon completing the ceremony tomorrow," Josephine was sending her into information overload and she wished only to know the information of the prophecy so she could either stop it or protect it.

"What secrets?"

"This spell was written in a time long before ours and the full effects it will have on you and Elijah are unknown, the ancestors do speak of a weakness it will bestow upon you both but the strength between you will be unmatched, you must be weary, Elena, power of such magnitude always comes with a price and it is usually paid for in blood," she headed Josephine's warning, it etched into her mind and she would further contemplate her decisions when she was alone, "now that we are familiar, I will summon you if I should learn anything new or if something should change but for now, I wish you all the happiness your marriage will bring."

"Thank you, Josephine, I am grateful for your help, you didn't have to do that and I would like to reassure you that I am on your side..." she trailed her sentence off and began to channel, she took Josephine's hands within her own and smoothed them around their now joined state, she saw the spell in her mind and the hand that once held hers was now open flat as she blew a breath across them, a mystical dust fluttered across them and the curse had been lifted.

"How?" Josephine spoke so quietly as she stared upon her hands, moving her fingers slowly as her eyes began to well up, she had a grin on her face and a look of awe in her eyes as she changed her gaze onto Elena.

"That was a serious curse that was placed upon Josephine from her mother a long time ago, I'd like to know how you did that too," Vincent came to the defence of his Regent and Elena turned to face him.

"You'd be surprised by what I can do and the power I hold," she changed her gaze back onto Josephine and offered her a kind smile, "I mean you or the witches that live within this city no harm and I would never dream of bringing a darkness into this city that would see us all destroyed, I give you my word I am on your side and will fight with you."

"I don't know how I could ever thank you," Josephine was completely softened and she felt an instant admiration towards Elena, one she could feel through her Empath gift and she returned her kindness.

"You don't need too," Elena said as Vincent came to her side per Josephine's request and intended to see her out, "I'll see you again soon."

"Goodbye for now, Elena," Josephine responded before watching as Vincent lead her through the house and towards the exit.

"Can I just ask, Vincent, you're a powerful witch in your own right, why do you harbour such hostility towards me? I can feel your negativity and I don't understand what I did to warrant such feelings," Elena asked as he lead her down the corridor that had the exit at the end of it.

"I believe a witch with as much power as you shouldn't be involved so deeply with vampires, I find it foolish to trust and sympathise with them, let alone become a member of the most powerful vampire family on this earth," he spoke honestly, he knew he was under the protection of the Unification treaty so he could talk out of term with her.

"I understand your doubts but I don't think you know me well enough to judge me," she responded, a small smile appearing on her lips at his fight back, "I appreciate your honesty, it's not too often I'm spoken to so harshly and it's quite refreshing."

"I say it how I see it, you may have Josephine fooled but I'm not so easily swayed," he held open the door for her and stepped aside, allowing her free exit.

"I like you, Vincent, I think it could serve us well to be allies instead of enemies, I care about everyone in this city and someone as powerful as you could help me to protect it but if you refuse to look past your hatred for vampires then you could ruin a potential alliance that could protect everything we hold dear," she offered him a kind smile before crossing the threshold and turning back to face him, "think about it."

Just as he was about to respond, she vanished, teleporting herself away from the LaRue residence and returning to the safety of her home; she landed on the front porch and instantly went inside, as soon as as Elijah heard the front door open, he was beside her immediately.

"What happened?" He said in a panicked state as she swung her arms around him and pulled him into a tight embrace; her facade started to crumble and her emotions where everywhere, she often struggled with the power play of others and it left her quite a state.

"Is the bath still hot?"

Elena found herself nestled against Elijah in the tub, the bubbles enveloped around them as she rested her back against his chest and sunk into the hold he had of her.

She had told him everything that happened with Josephine and Vincent and once he saw past his rage of her attempted kidnapping, he saw their invitation as one with her safety in mind.

Her emotional state was starting to calm as she felt the water wash over her and his gentle touches brought her a level of comfort only he could provide and she was able to process her thoughts more clearly.

"Do you think what she says could happen? Is this prophecy going to create a power that's going to kill us?" She asked, her voice calm and inquisitive.

"Only if it is used for such a purpose but you haven't got an evil bone in your body, my love, it will be harnessed for good and you will protect it against those that wish to steal it," he always brought her to a place of logic and reason, one without the hectic nature of her emotions clouding her judgement.

"I hope so," she trailed her fingers along his arm, feeling the spark of electricity flow with every touch they shared in, "I missed you today, I wish I could have spent it with you."

"Likewise," he started placing soft kisses along her shoulder and onto the nape of her neck, his intimacy bringing a wave of pleasure across her body, "I am hopeful our days will become much calmer after tomorrow."

"I still can't believe the day is almost here," she said with a wide and loved up grin, "we're getting married tomorrow."

He brought her hand to his lips and placed a soft kiss on her knuckles, allowing his lips to brush against her skin as he kept a hold of her hand and placed it against his chest, "I have waited what feels like ten lifetimes for tomorrow to come, I want nothing more than to marry you, Elena."

She turned her head to face him, a small smile curled up on her lips as she reached up to kiss him, a soft and heartfelt kiss that left them reeling; a small breath exhaled from her lips when she had to force them apart and she lingered near him for a long moment.

"Come on," she said quietly as she pulled the plug out of the bath and stepped out; within a flash, Elijah had sped out of the bath and wrapped a towel around her, trailing soft kisses along her shoulder and he grabbed his own, using it to cover his lower half.

Just as they exited the bathroom, completely entangled in each other, her bedroom door burst open and the siblings had all appeared in her room; a gasp escaped her lips as she pulled the towel tighter around herself and shooting them a look of frustration and disapproval.

"Will you just knock?" She exasperated, a touch louder than she intended and she was met with reassured looks and smiles.

"We just had to see you were safe," Klaus said, as he walked further into her room towards her cabinet and distracted himself by flickering through the grimoire that was placed on top, "When Elijah called to say you where home safe and sound, he prevented a war that I was minutes away from starting."

"I'm so sorry, Elena, I should have left with you, I could have protected you," Rebekah's guilt was apparent as she darted onto the doppelganger and pulled her into a tight embrace.

"I didn't need protecting, Bekah, I'm perfectly safe, it was just an unorthodox way of summoning me to meet with the Regent of the nine covens," she said as she released Rebekah from her hold and walked towards her dresser.

"You met with Josephine LaRue?" Kol responded, his lips parting slightly as Elena pulled out her loungewear and went into the bathroom with a slam of the door.

"Perhaps we should discuss this tomorrow when Elena is less tired and we're less agitated," Elijah spoke as he looked amongst his siblings, gesturing with a nod of his head to leave.

Elena exited the bathroom in her usual shorts and vest top and grabbed the brush from her dresser, she sat down on the edge of her bed and began brushing through the tats and knots in her hair, "we'll talk now, this is the last thing I want to be discussing on our wedding day."

After a short while, they were all caught up in the events of the evening, she told them about Vincent and Josephine and the vision she had about the light and the darkness.

Klaus didn't take too kindly to her threat of war if anything dark should come to pass but he worked those frustrations out with a glass of scotch; Kol was still surprised she had met with Josephine, she was a powerful witch who often didn't interfere with the witches personal matters.

Rebekah was impartial, she didn't wish to go to war with the witches but she didn't appreciate the kidnapping on her watch either and none of them trusted her or Vincent. Elena attempted to reassure that they were on the same side but they wouldn't hear it, they saw only her summoning as an act of battle.

"So, this light and potential darkness, do they know what it is?" Kol asked with a furrowed brow.

"No, all she said is it needs protecting before it destroys us all," she responded, becoming impatient and exhausted with the discussion.

"Do we actually believe these falsities that she has told you? She waits until the eve of your wedding to tell you as a last attempt to prevent it, I do not trust them," Klaus was in defence mode, he still couldn't see past the kidnapping of Elena and attack on one of his hybrids.

"Well, I believe her," Elena admitted with a slight shrug of her shoulders, "she didn't try to stop the wedding, she warned me as per request from the ancestors, I gave her my word that there would be no retaliation, I healed her hands and I left."

"Wait, you healed her hands?" Kol said with a slight shocked expression, "how?"

"Why is everyone so surprised that I did?" She exasperated, her patience thinning further, "I've spent months buried in your mother's grimoires, I know everything there is to know about curses and how to break them."

"That's impressive considering no-one has been able to, not even some of the most powerful witches in New Orleans history," Kol exclaimed, his admiration of her power apparent on his expressions.

"Or maybe no-one has really tried or has power like mine," she said defeatedly, unwilling to argue further.

"Do you not realise how powerful she is, brother?" Rebekah interjected with a scowl, her arms folded across her chest and ready to argue in Elena's place.

"As much as I'm enjoying our discussions, I would like to go to bed now, big day tomorrow unless you have all forgotten," she was becoming quite snippy, not entirely intentionally but she was tired and wished to spend the remainder of the evening with just Elijah.

Kol nodded his head and vanished from the room, his frustration apparent at the arguing and Rebekah gave her another quick hug, "Goodnight, Elena, I can't wait for tomorrow."

"Sleep well, Bex," as soon as Elena released her from her hold, she sped from the room and returned downstairs for further discussions with her brothers.

"Are you certain you're alright?" Klaus asked as he stepped towards the door, his gaze fixated on her.

"I'm fine, Nik," she gave him a soft smile and appreciated his kindness, "thank you."

"Goodnight, sweetheart," he vanished from the room and closed the door behind him, finally giving them the alone time and peace she had sought all day.

They instantly climbed into bed, she nestled further into him and wrapped her arm around his stomach to bring his warmth closer into her, "I love you."

"I love you too," he placed a soft kiss on her forehead and wrapped his arms tightly around her, it took mere minutes for her to drift off into a deep slumber, her mind thinking only about their wedding and how much she couldn't wait to be his wife.
