RWBY: Blood Love
Chapter 7: One-Eyed Monster!
It was all so simple, Blake would swap her night watch with Yang and at the first chance, sneak away with Ruby to have a "snack" and something else sweet to ease the stress of Ooblock's scolding and Weiss's hate speech.
"Don't want Yang or Ice bitch to see us." Blake thought with a grin.
Yet, for all that desire also came a feeling of sadness as Blake watched Yang, give her a sad gaze as she caught them leaving, having not expected the older sister to let them go without protest. She knew Ruby meant the world to her, so Yang giving no protest or overprotective mantra soon made Blake feel queasy. It felt like SHE was the one betraying her friend, playing with her sister while she worked to cover for them all.
"M-Maybe…Maybe I shouldn't-" Blake thought as she was tempted to turn around, to sit by Yang's side and apologize for all the bitterness she'd shown her partner lately. Suddenly a tug on her arm snapped Blake out of her train of thought, diverting her gaze towards the smaller huntress wearing her grimm pajama's that blended perfectly into the night. Yet she also saw a flirty grin on her as she opened up the top head hole on her shirt slightly, making Blake's breath hitch as her own face flushed catching a glimpse Ruby purposely let her see.
"N-Nothing?" Blake whispered in shock. Ruby licked her lips as she got into one of her girlfriend's bat ears.
"Oh? Hungry for something else are you?" Ruby whispered with a seductive tone, nearly drawing a squeak out of the batgirl. With that, all restraint was lost, Blake threw away her discomfort with her team or herself aside as she picked Ruby up princess style and bolted into the dark forest so not to be disturbed.
"Guess it's blue boobs for me tonight." Yang sighed sadly as she saw the lovers take off. She glanced down at her chest. What once brought her irritation from the lustful gazes boys would give her now brought her a sense of discomfort for another reason. She wanted Blake to look at her that same way, rather than her sister.
"Why!? Mine are thrice the size of Ruby's. Why'd Blake have to choose some Hershey's kisses over my melons?"Yang whined softly as she cupped them, before going back to watching the wasteland from afar, silently hoping a Grimm would be drawn to her negativity so she could slaughter it and relieve some stress. After all, Ooblock made it clear if she kept taking it out on her sister and girlfriend she'd be out of Beacon, and out of a chance to be a huntress. She then stole a glance at Weiss as her wish grew unanswered, seeing to her surprise the heiress was wide awake as well.
"Couldn't sleep?" Yang asked her curiously, noticing a bitter glare from her not really directed at the brawler, making her blush as she realized what she WAS looking at.
"Not easy when a huge pair of melons gets waved at your face." Weiss bitterly groaned as she rolled her eyes. Yang gave a sheepish wince as she heard that, realizing she treaded on an insecurity of her friend. She just had to think of something fast to break the ice before she had 3 girls pissed at her.
"So uh….I said I wanted Blake before but, what do you want Weiss?" She frantically asked the girl who formed massive blush in response
"I-I'm not into ANYONE!" She cried in protest, making Yang waive her arms frantically as she realized she was misinterpreted.
"NO! I mean….why did you want to come here? Why do you want to be a huntress!" Yang cried out. Suddenly a groan from Ooblock's tent startled the girls as the man came out, still wearing his school suit showing he wanted to be prepared for anything like a professional, fixing them a curious eyebrow.
"Oh! Sorry we woke you profe-" Weiss began to say sheepishly before the man put up a finger with an irritated look, but not for being awoken.
"I am DOCTOR Ooblock Miss Schnee. I earned that doctorate through blood, sweat, and tears and I'll be damned if I am addressed as anything else." He pedantically ranted.
"Yes sir." Both girls groaned.
"Good. Now then, I admit I heard your uh…conversation if you could call it one. I was wondering the same thing lately, why all you girls wanted to become huntresses." He said sheepishly, drawing a slight gasp from Yang as she realized he heard her remarks about her jugs, soon fixing him an angry glare that made him squirm a bit. "W-Well then, why did you wish to become one Miss Xiao Long?" He asked sheepishly.
"I wanted to adventure the world, explore and see what dangers I could face and power on through, maybe eat some great cuisine's I never partook in. Being a huntress seemed a good fit for that, make some money and save people as a pleasant bonus." Yang shamelessly bragged as she flaunted her muscles. While some teachers at Signal and Ruby had tried to get her to get her priorities straight and focus on more "noble" aspirations in this field, Yang hid behind her grin and answer to a secret desire beyond those things.
"I want to find mom. I still need to know why." Yang thought bitterly. Being able to explore the world alone without ties to Ruby and Dad would certainly help her investigate the woman who abandoned her. Yet her anger mixed into that desire at the thought. She was certain if she did find Raven Branwen, it wouldn't be to reconnect and hug sweetly like mother and daughter would as she clenched her fists a bit, despite keeping a smile to avoid letting Ooblock or Weiss onto her dark wish.
Ooblock saw Yang's eyes briefly flicker red, knowing from her files about her semblance. He also knew it wouldn't be wise to pry into what was causing her mood swing and diverted his attention to Weiss.
"How about you Miss Schnee? You resided in one of the most advanced companies and hunter environments known to humanity, why choose Beacon over atlas, let alone a huntress career over your company?" Ooblock inquired.
Weiss looked down at her pale arms as she heard this remark to their concern. They saw a sad gaze from her as she rubbed them while looking longingly, seeing she was deep in thought.
"I…I wanted to have a clean slate, arms not sullied by my company." Weiss said sadly to their own sadness, their smiles falling.
"You feel guilty about how Jacquees Schnee has mistreated his employees?" Ooblock inquired yet she silenced him with a stern glare.
"It's because of him treating Faunus employees unfairly that I've had a target on my back all my life. Faunus like Blake who see me just as bad as him without even getting to know me. I've been kidnapped, beaten, and held for ransom so many times because people see Weiss Schnee as the filthy rich brat her father raised to be a faunus hater like him." Weiss said bitterly.
"Your not guilty of what he does Weiss. Don't let those jerks in the White Fang make you think otherwise." Yang told her firmly with a sad stare.
Suddenly they heard a moan from deep within the woods, belonging to a girl, though Weiss and Yang were unsure if it was Ruby's or Blake's. One thing they did know, it was not something they wanted to hear.
"It's not just them that makes me feel dirty, my own friends did too. I wanted a clean slate. I needed to show people this girl could fight and care for herself and save others rather than be a shrewd business woman whose only worth was her fathers dirty bloodstained money made off of Faunus like Blake. I wanted to be honest about my desire through actions, yet Blake and my own partner kept secrets of me to go bang each other like horny mutts behind our backs!?" Weiss yelled as tears rolled down her eyes.
Ooblock and Yang coughed a bit into their hands or used them to rub the back of their heads sheepishly in the face of the outburst. This was growing into a rather obscene and personal topic beyond simple conversation.
"I do suppose Miss Rose and Belladonna are partly at fault for hiding things from you as you say Miss Schnee." Ooblock said with a sigh. Weiss felt a bit of satisfaction ebb away the pain in her heart, allowing Yang to come over and hug her as the larger girl told her to breath deeply to calm herself. Yet, Weiss couldn't as something crossed her mind, keeping her occupied on the doctor.
"Why do I hear a "but" coming?" Weiss groaned.
"Perceptive indeed. Buuuuut will being angry at Miss Belladonna give you that clean slate?" Ooblock asked her.
"I told you, you don't get what this is like. She lied to me about her whole being, made me let my guard down. Do you get how scary that is for someone hunted all her life!?" Weiss asked indignantly, but her gaze widened as she wasn't expecting a response like this from the doctor.
"I don't, no. But perhaps Blake does. Did you consider that to be HER reason?" Ooblock asked deadpanned, drawing looks of bewilderment from both girls.
"What do you mean?" Weiss asked.
"Faunus we're subjected and in a deadly war with humanity at some point in history, which I'm sure you both know seeing as how 30% of the time, you didn't sleep during my classes." Ooblock said sternly.
"Still better percent than Port teach." Yang said with a sheepish grin, yet the doctor just rolled his eyes.
"But it may interest you both then about something I didn't teach you, Faunus sometimes hunted each other." He continued, shocking both girls by the reveal.
"W-What! I get us humans for treating them like dirt even after the war but why each other?!" Yang cried out.
"The answer is simplistic Miss Xiao Long, and its something you know from experience Miss Schnee, diversity. No matter how similar we all are on the inside, shallow views on the physical differences like skin tone and body parts beget pride that festers into arrogance. It is those differences that make us unique that also make us targets for others, human or Faunus, cruelty. Some species of Faunus were seen as "filthy" or "too human-like" for not looking more animalistic or forging bonds with humans. It was with these arrogant and bigoted viewpoints Faunus at one point began acting like humans, hunting down some species of Faunus to purge their kind of "impurities." Perhaps that's why Blake felt the need to hide her traits for so long, to feel safe around the majority if she couldn't trust even her own kind right away." Ooblock ranted, giving dark utterances of those words that especially displeased him, sending shivers down the girl's spines as they processed that and his information.
"People…could have hunted Blake?" Yang whispered in fright, shuddering at the mere notion. A mindless Grimm acting on pure instinct was one thing, but a person willfully choosing to try and exterminate another over such ridiculous reasoning's was terrifying; it began to make the Xiao Long afraid to look at the two people right in front of her, worried her world view of humanity and Faunus would change how they looked to her briefly. Weiss saw her aversion, shuddering as she took in this theory.
"And here I thought she betrayed me, when really she just wanted to wash off that target off her back like me. How did I treat her? Not as a kindred spirit, but as a freak for what she was born into and for how she chose to live freely. Why would she trust me after all that?" Weiss thought sadly. It was then she realized she was the true traitor on their team. What Ruby and Blake became was brave despite the Heiress's drilled beliefs it was unnatural to love each other as woman. She overacted on feelings that weren't her own but her father's, plus her own mistrust of faunus, and took it out on her friends who had her back in battle countless times. Now she knew she had to make things right, she had to find them so she stood up catching the two by surprise.
"Alright then, lets go find Blake and Ruby and tell them we're sorry then!" Weiss said as she grabbed Yang's wrist and tugged it to force her up before she could protest, not that Weiss believe the brawler would when her sister was concerned.
Her faith was proven justified as Yang fixed her a confident smile.
"Sound perfect, I'm way overdo on teasing my little Rubes over her crush anyway. Maybe we'll catch them in the act and can point and coo to make it just perfect?" Yang said with a devilish grin, relishing in the thought of Ruby pouting as her sweet reward and long awaited stress relief. She was snapped out of her thought as she and Weiss turned their attention to Ooblock, who coughed to catch their attention. Suddenly he flung their weapons to them, before fixing them a disproving glare.
"If you're going into potentially Grimm infested woods, be sure to be diligent like Miss Rose and Belladonna were before they left. A true huntress always keeps her weapon on her." Ooblock scolded before returning to his tent with a satisfied smile as they nodded.
"About time they listened to me." He thought proudly as he saw them run off. What the professor didn't realize however, was as he settled comfortably into his tent for the remainder of the night, he had just sent off his students to face a threat they might not be able to handle on their own worse than the Grimm that plagued the fallen kingdom.
Yang and Weiss soon began to think so, as they heard a cry of pain off in the distance, realizing who it belong too as they bolted towards the source as fast as possible.
"RUBY!" They cried fearfully.
Earlier…
The air grew hotter by the minute as two dark haired maidens massaged each others smooth moist faces as they connected, fingers intertwining with their hairs as hands went all over each other's bodies.
"B-Blake." Ruby moaned, her face flushed as the Bat Faunus kissed her neck, a warm tongue slowly massaging it as it's veins pulsed.
"Ruby." Blake whispered, the heat within her rising as her eyes locked onto her lovers neck turning bright red as her fangs protrude. With a slight inhale, taking in the sweet scent of her lovers perfume that smelled like strawberry, Blake softly clamped down on the vein, eliciting a painful yet orgasmic gasp from Ruby as she felt the blood rushing in her neck go into Blake's mouth, overwhelmed as her body flushed with heat.
"I love you!" Ruby cried, before Blake quickly pulled her fangs out, leaving another hole scar in Ruby's neck, albeit much less deep than the other. She didn't wish to maim the girl she loved, she wanted to taste her more as she pressed her hot blood soaked lips to Ruby's, moans invading the air as they slowly began to remove their shirts, revealing matching black bra's. They pulled away reluctantly to catch their breath's, but both girls eyed the other's bodies with impatience, wanting to resume as soon as possible if not for their exertion's depleting them.
Blake's red eyes returned to amber as she soon averted her gaze from Ruby's chest, blood having dripped on them, but not from her neck to her surprise. Blake shivered with anticipation as she saw blood from a slight cut lip of Ruby's bleeding. Though a bit ashamed she forgot to retract her fangs for the kiss, Blake found her irresistible to taste again.
"Ruby…your so sweet." Blake whispered as she leaned in for another kiss.
Suddenly she paused as the sound of gunshot invaded the air, Ruby having formed a frightened look on her once blissful face.
"R-Ruby?" Blake stuttered as she soon felt blood once more, but not within her lips. She felt it trickle onto her leg that was wrapped around Ruby's thigh and reluctantly looked down, her skin growing pale as she realized a hole had formed not on her lovers neck, but on her left side in between her shoulder blade and chest oozing red. Ruby had been shot!
Ruby gave off a painful screech as she quickly clasped the wound, the aphrodisiac of Blake's fangs not being enough to numb the pain that burned her chest.
"RUBY!" Blake cried out fearfully as she saw the girl fall onto her back, spasming as she struggled to breath through the pain. Blake struggled as well as she formed fearful gasps before standing up to draw her katana as she heard footsteps approach. She knew the person who shot her lover was close by, her eyes reddening as she yearned for them to come closer, wanting to drain them dry as punishment for hurting Ruby.
"I'LL KILL YOU FOR THAT!" She roared, but her breathing hitched as she saw the face of the perpetrator arrive from the dark shadows of the woods.
"I doubt that babe." Adam said wryly.
"Y-You!?" Blake gasped, not in her wildest dreams ever imagining seeing her ex again.
"Why so surprised? I told you I'd find you again. Just didn't expect you to have a new toy for me to break." Adam said with a low grumble, his rage building as Blake sensed his own bloodlust as she caught him eyeing Ruby. She diverted her gaze as well to see her slowly trying to rise, clasping her bullet wound painfully with a wince.
This distraction proved to be a mistake for Blake, as Adam soon lunged at her, slashing the katana out of her hand and delivering a roundhouse kick to her chest, knocking the wind out of the batgirl as she crashed through a tree, landing on a nearby fallen trunk. She cried out painfully as she collided with it, feeling a surge of pain in her upper right arm as the sound of cracking ripped through the air. She didn't need an x-ray to know she broke her shoulder blade.
Adam licked his lips as he heard her cry's, relishing in his sweet revenge beginning. But he looked down as he heard a loud rumble, gears moving, beneath him as he lunged back to avoid a large curved red blade inches away from his chest belonging to Ruby, breathing heavily as she grinded her teeth in frustration at her missed assault.
"D-Damn it…to slow, s-stupid bulle- GAH!" Ruby thought before Adam stomped on her shoulder, digging his heel into her bullet hole and making her cry in pain.
"S-STOP IT! PLEASE!" Blake pleaded as she saw her lovers torment. Her cries only fueled Adam's rage as he snatched Ruby's Scythe from her limp hand. He planned to take his time with this girl who hade the "audacity" to touch "his" Blake to torment her for leaving his organization and him, but she proved even injured she could be dangerous. He wasn't playing around anymore as he held up the scythe.
"N-No." Blake whispered as she saw him poised to finish Ruby, wanting to stand and rush at him if not for the sharp pain staggering her, making her fall to the floor as she was helpless to watch him strike.
"You don't get to have anything you want after betraying me. I'll make sure no one but me touches you again for that dear." Adam said coldly as he brought down the heavy scythe towards Ruby's head.
"NO!" Blake screeched, but froze as she realized it resonated with another girls screech. She saw white hair burst past her as a gravity glyph formed in the air, propelling what she realized was Weiss flying by. The heiress had heard her partners and Blake's cries and lunged at Adam, jabbing her ice enhanced saber into his face, knocking off his mask as his aura chipped, leaving a cut across his nose purple and blue from frostbite, but the resulting slash diverted his own towards Ruby's, going straight through Weiss's scarred eye, the heiress getting knocked onto her back, ice forming on the ground as her sabor plunged into it, as she yelled in pain, having forgotten in her rage induced assault to raise her aura like Adam, a very costly mistake that burned her face right now.
"GAAAH!" Weiss screeched as she rolled on her back, blood oozing from her eye, and blending into the white ice, as it pulsed painfully. She knew she had lost it.
Blake clasped her good hand over her mouth as she reeled in shock at this assault. Weiss gave up her eye for Ruby? The mere thought nauseated the faunus, this girl she once condemned had sacrificed something precious for her lover, at the hand of someone who hated the batgirl.
Speaking of the devil himself, Adam soon regained his balance as he groaned in pain and anger at the assault, walking up to the down heiress and kicking her stomach, nearly making her hurl as she formed choked coughs.
"I'd feel better about that if it didn't give us something in common Schnee brat." Adam spat out with venom as he rubbed his burned eye and nose.
Blake was without words, unsure what to do next. She saw Gambrol Shroud a few feet away, but saw Adam hold a blood stained Crescent Rose inches away from Weiss's neck, knowing she wouldn't have enough time to act.
"She's going to die…because of me." Blake thought with a grimace, tears stinging her eyes at the thought. She wanted more than anything to cry out she forgave the heiress, not wanting such a regret after what she sacrificed for the girl she loved, but was helpless to do even that as her throat choked, fear keeping her at bay.
Soon she found her tears sizzling as a wave of heat surrounded the area to her surprise, before grinning as she realized what it meant.
"Heh, even a blind bat could see you've got perfect timing Yangy." Blake quipped as she saw a stream of fire lunge at Adam, a red-eyed maiden with fiery golden hair fueled by rage and bloodlust for her teams tormentor.
"YOU BASTARD!" Yang roared. Adam quickly brought up Crescent Rose, using the blunt of the heavy Scythe as a shield, wisely as he felt a heavy force blast his chest as the blade shielded it once Yang's fist collided with it, sending him crashing back through several trees, making him drop the scythe painfully. That surely would have gone straight through him had he not stolen the heavy weapon. Before the pain consumed his thoughts, he couldn't help but ponder if the weapon had been forged to face her in mind, wishing he hadn't dropped it.
Yang huffed as the ground beneath her sizzled, her fiery aura melting the ice Weiss formed, freeing her and allowing her to move again and clasped her side Adam kicked, feeling the bruise he formed. She couldn't tell what was more painful, her sides or her eye.
Yang's own red eyes watered as she knelt down between the heiress and her sister, who also held her hand to her shoulder, wheezing for air.
"Oh my God! We gotta get you to a hospital now!" Yang cried as she whipped out her scroll, wanting to call Ooblock for a bullhead from Beacon, but roared in anger as she saw the signal was dead.
"I-I'll help carry them back to camp. Only Ooblock's signal enhancers could get us a call that won't die." Blake stuttered as she limped towards her partner, putting gambrol shround on her waist.
"With that busted arm? I don't think so. I'm carrying you all." Yang protested, but Blake shot her a fierce glare as she yanked Weiss up and put her over her shoulders.
"I'm still strong enough to carry her. Take care of your sister and let me help the one who saved her. It's the least I can do since this is my fault." Blake retorted as she started walking back with the heiress in tow. Yang's breath hitched as she heard Ruby groan, silently admonishing herself for forgetting about her condition.
"O-Okay gotcha Rubes! Just hang on!" She pleaded.
"C-Crescent Ro-" Ruby whispered, her throat on fire from the pain. Yang quickly snatched up and retracted the weapon, thankfully damage free to her amazement.
"You always have to upgrade this thing to one up me huh?" Yang quipped, making Ruby force a small grin of amusement despite her pain. Yang quickly put the weapon she knew her sister cherished carefully on her waist before gently picking her up princess style and following Blake.
The quartet stayed silent the whole walk back, not from the pain of their injuries (Yang's emotional in this case) but from the awkwardness of it all. No one dared to utter a single word as each one felt consumed by guilt. It wasn't till they neared the camp, seeing the dim light of a fire going off did someone dare to speak.
"I'm sorry" They all said in unison, shocking them.
"W-What are you saying? I got myself cut and didn't do a thing?" Weiss protested, feeling she was the one to blame. She prided herself as Ruby's partner, yet she got their too late to do anything to stop the man who shot her. Tears stung her eyes as she focused on Ruby's bullet hole.
"But he came for me! Adam hates me, it was all my fault you got hurt." Blake whimpered, hiccupping as she felt Weiss's body grow colder, fearing the worst her ex and her caused.
"I'm the one who took the longest charging up. If I had smashed him sooner you girls wouldn't have been hurt at all!" Yang cried.
"He…He would…taken your arm or neck if you…not angry hehehe." Ruby wheezed, her body on fire from a small fever her wounds had given her, or it was the aphrodisiac still working it's wonders. She didn't care about that, all she cared about was making amends with her team. She was sick of all the infighting at this point.
"No Ruby it wasn't your fault at all!" Blake cried in protest and the others nodded.
"She's right, you got shot! You didn't deserve any of that." Weiss protested.
"Ice Queen's is right. We'd never blame you when you were hurt and couldn't even move. We'd gladly take that bullet for you any day." Yang whimpered as she hugged her sister tightly, making her chuckle.
"Look at that. Y-You three…agree for once." She stuttered with a wry smile, making the others laugh, before their eyes widened as they heard a cold voice break up the laughter.
"Then I'd be glad to put some more holes in your three." Adam groaned as he ran out the woods towards them, his red sword glowing bright as he aimed it for the girls waists to their shock. Adam's semblance let him absorb some damage from Yang's assault into his blade that he kept on his own waist, he was confident the power he used would slice them all in half in one go. Finally, vengeance was his.
Yang and Blake winced as they tried to jump and dodge quickly, but the weight of carrying their injured friends held them back too much, they didn't have the time. Ruby bit her lip in frustration as she saw her attacker get closer, knowing from the wave of energy she sensed that attack would kill her friends is she continued to hold them back. Ruby closed her eyes as she focused on her own energy, drawing all her remaining aura to the surface.
"I won't fail them again!" Ruby thought firmly, soon the trio of girls vanished in a flurry of rose petals to their shock, a force pushing them aside as they saw the petals scatter through the air.
"Ruby?" Yang whispered, knowing her semblance had saved them, but she saw no sign of her sister.
Soon blood gushed onto her face to the girls shock as they saw the young leader flying past them, landing onto her chest with a large gash slashed onto her back. Their hearts stopped for a moment as they realized she pushed them away, but took the brunt of that attack in their stead. Ruby got hurt protecting them! Such a realization tugged at the girls heartstrings, unsure if Ruby was even still alive as they saw no movement, just a bull faunus groaning in frustration.
"Stupid brat! You just had to make me wait longer huh?" Adam spat, having wanted this to end already for all of them.
His scathing comment lit a fire in all 3 girls, literally in Yang's case as her hair singed from her semblance. Blake's eyes reddened as she drew her katana while Weiss loaded a red dust crystal into her saber, drawing flames to its blade. She then formed a red glyph, summoning a fireball she stabbed the blade into, increasing its fiery power. They wanted nothing more than to make this monster burn for what he did to Ruby.
Yang fired off some grenades the Bull Faunus absorbed into his blade. Blake used the wire from Gambrol shroud to hook Weiss and flung her over him, knowing his semblance would allow him to avoid dealing with long range weapons. She and Weiss lunged at him from both sides, banking on him not being able to attack both. Unfortunately they were wrong as Adam jammed the blade into the ground, rushing his aura to it and creating a shockwave that knocked them both back, the flames of the Schnee's saber dissipating as they managed to block most of the shockwave at the cost of being dropped. Adam smirked as he kicked the saber aside as he eyed the Schnee's aura fade along with Blake's from the impact of their crash.
Suddenly he saw a shadow above him, looking up to see a fireball heading straight for him. Yang had jumped to avoid the shockwave, taking advantage of the diversion her teammates caused to ambush him. He quickly grabbed his swords hilt tried to expel his blade from the ground to counter, but felt resistance from the ground, feeling he had used too much force and lodged it too deep. He reluctantly rolled over to avoid Yang's fist as it crashed where he once was, knowing he could not survive a direct hit. Unarmed, he quickly looked around to either escape, or steal a weapon to use. Suddenly his eye caught the small pool of blood formed over the little red huntress he thought he slayed, more specifically, the scythe she had on her belt.
"There's my winning lottery ticket." He whispered as he jumped towards her, knowing that weapon would slay Yang if it could block her attacks easily.
As his hand was inches from his defeated foe's waist, a black wire suddenly wrapped around it, jerking it back as a pair of feet wrapped around his back. He turned his head back to meet a pair of red slanted eyes eyeing him viciously. She had enough of him tormenting her lover, she'd be damned if he stole from her.
"I'd bite you if your blood wouldn't make me puke." She groaned as she switched her katana into its syringe form, jamming it's black needle blade into his neck. Adam roared with anguish as he saw the bag underneath it filling with his blood, knowing she was draining him. He then saw Yang charge her aura into her fist, readying for another assault. Thinking quickly, Adam did something risky, he forced all his aura to the surface, expelling the blade from his neck and Blake off him, granting him the time needed to jump to the right to dodge an incoming fire fist from Yang. It was a gamble to say the least, without any aura he had no chance of winning, let alone surviving a mere punch from this brute. He had lost, even if he lived.
"FIGHT ME COWARD!" She roared. Adam did not give into her taunts as he saw her stand by Ruby and her scythe. Knowing there was no way to beat them with his aura drained, Adam simply took out a gravity dust crystal, forming a glyph to propel himself out of the area.
"We'll settle this later." He yelled, giving his ex one last stink eye she clicked her teeth at as she saw before he disappeared into the woods. Yang roared as she tried to run after him, but a cry from Weiss froze her in place.
"RUBY STAY WITH US!" She cried. Yang and Blake's breath's hitched as they saw the heiress cradle their limp leader. Both knelt down, putting their trembling hands on her neck, feeling apart from the holes on it from Blake's fangs for a pulse hopeful.
"F-Feel it?" Yang whispered to Blake, who's silence wasn't comforting.
"FEEL IT!?" She cried.
"We gotta get her to a doctor now!" Blake cried as she clasped the neck, willing all her remaining aura to it, closing the holes. She couldn't feel a pulse till then, it along with a slight rise in Ruby's chest being the only thing that gave Blake a hope for her lover's survival.
"I'm sorry…I'm so sorry Ruby." She thought as tears flowed from her face.
A few days later…
Ruby's injuries were severe to say the least. The surgeons said her semblance and aura just made the blade barely avoid touching her spine or arteries. Had she'd been a moment too slow, or if they didn't cover her bullet wound, she would have bleed out or been paralyzed to say the least. Still...she came dangerously close taking those blows.
This, along with the news of Blake and Weiss's injuries did nothing to alleviate the girl's guilt. Blake's shoulder was shattered but would recover in a few months, while Weiss's eye was lost for good, forming a red X scar where it once was. Meanwhile Yang was left reeling with the most guilt, having suffered no injuries except to her pride. She was supposed to protect her teammates and her little sister and felt she failed both.
"It's all my fault." Being the only words the girls dared to utter or think till Ruby awoke from her coma after a few days in the ICU. Seeing her lay limp, helpless to move much from the enormous pain they knew her back was in tugged at their heartstrings.
"Ruby…I can't tell you enough how sorry I am." Weiss cried to her.
"F-For what? Saving my… skin?" Ruby wheezed, still groggy from her immense amount of pain medication, only having the strength to barely speak and clasp her partners hand as she sat beside her.
"If I had just been a better partner and friend to you, accepted who you and Blake were, never drove you away with my snooping then you'd never had been in this bed." Weiss groaned, tears stinging her remaining eye, which Ruby softly rubbed. Blake closed her tearful eyes as they began to sting, almost as bad as her heart right now as she heard those remorseful words. A part of her wanted to hate Weiss, but seeing her crying only fueled the batgirls sadness, especially at the sight of her lover eyeing her partner so sadly.
"And if…I…not weak…you…eye be fine." Ruby groaned. Weiss and others whimpered hearing that, how could this girl still care more about others after nearly being crippled or killed!?
"Screw my eye, I'm the monster who hurt you, not him. All because I was a selfish scared little child who couldn't learn to trust anyone." Weiss groaned making Ruby whimper.
Soon a pair of arms wrapped gently around her head, a large rack resting on top.
"But I was right there for all of you, and I failed. Ruby, Weiss, I'm so sorry. You should never have had to push us away, I should have let that guy gutted me instead of you." Yang cried.
"STOP IT! ALL OF YOU!" Blake roared tearfully, startling them all.
"Blake?" Weiss asked.
"I…I'm the one he came for. He hurt all of you to get to me. I should have stayed away from Beacon, from everyone! I'm a monster who's destiny is to get hunted like my parents!" She cried. Weiss and Yang winced as they heard this, realizing Ooblock's theory was right after all.
"B-Blake…your not to blame for the evil of others." Weiss said sadly, drawing a tearful red-eyed glare from the vampire bat faunus.
"You know as well as I do that others don't care. They'll always target us or those we care about to make themselves feel better. IT'S SO FUCKING FAIR!" Blake cried. Weiss and Yang averted their gazes shamefully hearing that, not knowing what they could say, after how they hurt her previously, that could help her recover. They thought she had good points, even if she wasn't the one who hurt them, someone who hated her did, so naturally she felt guilty no matter what.
She was about to run out the room, hopeful this would be the end of her friends suffering, when a painful cry shot out the room.
"STOP!" Ruby demanded, choking on a cough soon to all the girls horror. Blake even paused her retreat and rushed back to the bed, knocking Weiss and Yang aside.
"R-Ruby?" Blake whispered, soon her eyes widening as she met a bitter gaze from Ruby.
"D-Don't…leave." She stuttered.
"But…but Ruby it's my *GASP*! " Blake gasped as Ruby weakly put her soft hand on her face.
"Nope. Not…fault *COUGH* Even if…can't lose you." Ruby whimpered. Blake cried as she heard those hazy words, not feeling for a moment they were true as Adam's cold stare bore down on her in her mind.
"I'm sorry. I always get hunted, you got hurt because of it. I just can't forgive my-" She began before Yang and Weiss locked her in a hug to her shock.
"And we'll gladly pummel anyone who tries it again." Yang said with a firm tearful smile.
"That's right. I promise won't ever judge you like them again. You're my friend and I should never have forgotten that. I'm sorry I looked at your file, i forgot your rights once and I won't do it again. So please don't forget our bond either, we won't let you." Weiss firmly said as she tightened the hug, fearing Blake would run again if she didn't.
Blake soon felt Ruby's hand intertwine with her, smiling with hazy red tearful eyes as she pulled her to come closer, planting a small chaste kiss on her lovers lips filled with love, not fear or sadness.
"Stay with us. L-Leader's…orders." She whispered. Blake choked on her breath as she wailed right then and there, promising to do so as she cried into Ruby's chest along with her team, not even noticing the figure enter the room behind them, letting the girls get it out of their system before addressing them.
"Hello Team RWBY." The man said warmly, making the WBY jolt.
"Professor Ozpin?" They asked in unison and he nodded.
"In the flesh, which is something I really wished I could say to all you with confidence as well. Sorry." He said sadly as he eyed their injuries. It always hurt his pride as a headmaster to see even a scratch on a student, feeling it was his personal failure. That's why he made it his mission to take time out of his busy schedule to see them as soon as the doctors permitted it.
"Why are you here sir, did….Ooblock want us kicked out?" Weiss asked fearfully making the other girls wince. The fact they all got hurt on a mission after already being on thin ice with the doctor wasn't exactly in their favor after his stern warning.
"While Bart was indeed crossed with you at one point, he also told me how you all came together to save your leader. I could never hope to lose any of you, especially you Miss Belladonna." Ozpin said with a confident smile, shocking her.
"B-But…you know what I am. The trouble I caused." Blake said sadly.
"Indeed I have gotten complaints about a "dangerous" vampire bat faunus attending the school from parents and the council. Some even wanted you expelled." Ozpin said annoyed, making Yang and Weiss growl.
"Over my dead body!" Yang roared and Ozpin nodded.
"Indeed. Which is why I am happy to show you girls this." Ozpin said with a smile as he pulled out his scroll near Ruby's bed, allowing all the girls to see the recorded news message.
Faunus saves Schnee Heir from White Fang
All the girl's eyes widened at the message, an image of Blake carrying Weiss on her back Ooblock had taken on the way to the hospital on the center of it.
"H-How?" Blake asked.
"I made sure to let the media know, though I did blemish things a bit to make you Blake look more heroic. With that, those bigots have no grounds to demand your expulsion. Beacon is your home anytime." Ozpin said happily, drawing a cheer from Yang and Weiss. Ruby was grinning madly at the news as she clasped Blake's hand.
"B-But…blood. What if I get cravings? Won't people use that against me?" Blake asked fearfully.
"Not to worry, my getting your reputation built helped me convince the Atlas council at last to approve a blood drive for Beacon which can help not just Vampire faunus like you, but also students if they get injured on school grounds. Less expensive their then at a hospital right?" Ozpin said with a wry smile towards Weiss who chuckled.
"Maybe, not that my allowance can't easily cover ruby's expenses." She said proudly, making everyone chuckle.
"T-Thank…you." Ruby whispered to them, but they all saw her still looking only at a tearful Blake who couldn't contain herself learning she could stay with her. Blake wrapped her arms around Ruby's neck, planting kisses on her cheek ecstatically.
"We'll uh…give you two some room then." Yang said embarrassed at the display as she nudged the headmaster and heiress out. Blake didn't need enhanced Faunus vision though to see the tender smile sneak onto her partners cheek as the sight of the two.
"Finally...I didn't really have to lose something for Ruby to be happy. I still have them." Yang thought blissfully as she closed the door, sparing them a wink of approval that made them both smile.
Once they were alone, Ruby and Blake locked eyes with each other, crying with joy as Ozpin's news sunk in after all the drama finally ended.
"No more hiding huh?" Ruby asked and Blake nodded.
"Nope. Even if Adam comes here, none of us are gonna get hurt again I promise." Blake said firmly with a smile.
"Only one problem." Ruby groaned.
"What is it?" Blake asked fearfully making Ruby pout.
"Blood drive. You won't need my blood anymore. That sucks." Ruby groaned but Blake just chuckled as she nibbled playfully on Ruby's neck.
"Nope. I'd drink you under the table anyday. I love your sweet blood the most, always." Blake whispered seductively as her eyes flickered red for a moment, drawing red from Ruby's cheeks as she met her lovers gaze.
"I…I love you too Blake." Ruby whispered as she closed her eyes, drawing the faunus into a heated kiss neither ever wanted to end. The mere thought made their blood boil.
