Miraculous: Divergence
Chapter One: A Miraculous Resurrection
It happened so quick that Marinette barely had time to process it.
One moment, she, Chat Noir and Sentibug were advancing towards Mayura. The next, Mayura made a grabbing motion with her hands, and Sentibug vanished into thin air, the Paris themed key chain dropped on the ground and a purple feather flew out of it, floating in the air before it started turning white.
It hit her.
"NO!" She screamed, her eyes wide with righteous outrage and dropped to her knees. The sentimonster had looked just like her. She may not have been a human. She may have been born of magic, but she had been sentient unlike the other sentimonsters they had faced. She was alive.
No…
Maybe it was the horrible day she had, with Lila's lies expelling her and somehow Alya and even her own parents not believing her that Lila had framed her, even though they believed in her innocence, and then Chat falling for Sentibug's ruse and not able to recognize the real her.
But this was the tipping point.
She felt a strange feeling overwhelming her… Something building up inside her.
"YOU MONSTER!" Chat yelled, charging at Mayura, but something caught his eye. A red glow that had enveloped Ladybug.
"My lady?" He faltered.
She did not respond, nor did she look up.
Time seemed to slow down… the feather hovered still in the air, half white, half purple.
Even Mayura seemed nervous at seeing Ladybug be enveloped in a red halo, that seemed to be getting brighter every second.
Just then, she screamed, and the light exploded out. Chat shielded his face.
It was harmless, the light merely washing over them, just like her Miraculous Cure did.
But this was different.
He opened his eyes and saw Ladybug look up in confusion, a glazed expression on her face.
"What happened?" She asked, baffled.
Then they saw it.
The feather was spinning in the air, but it was not white, nor was it purple… It was bright red.
It transformed into an orb of red light, before it shifted into a humanoid shape, which closely resembled Ladybug's own figure.
The light subsided to reveal Sentibug, who looked down at her arms in confusion, then at Ladybug in awe.
"You saved me?" She gasped
"I did?" Ladybug stuttered.
"IMPOSSIBLE!" Mayura screamed, repeating the same motion she had done before, but nothing happened.
"Your schemes end here, Mayura." Ladybug said firmly, getting back to her feet. "Surrender your miraculous!"
The heroes reunited, and walked slowly towards the villainess, who gulped and stepped back hesitantly.
Before they could apprehend her, a swarm of butterflies… akumas appeared out of nowhere, forming a wall between them. They swirled around Mayura, as if she was the eye of a tornado, and a strong wind picked up, pushing the heroes back. By the time, they regained their footing, the akumas and Mayura were gone.
"She got away!" Chat yelled, punching the ground.
"Maybe…" Ladybug smiled, turning towards Sentimonster. "But we saved what's important."
"Thank you…" Sentibug nodded at them. "I thought it was all over for me, but I am alive… truly alive…"
"Where do we go from here? We have two ladybugs now?" Chat asked.
"Not Ladybug. Sentibug." Sentibug affirmed. "And my powers are fading… This feels like just spandex and a mask, not my skin like it had felt before…"
"What are you saying?" Ladybug questioned.
"I think when you brought me back, you didn't just free me from Mayura's control, you made me human." She said slowly.
Chat and Ladybug looked at each other.
"What now?" Chat asked.
"I don't know…" His partner confessed. "But I think I know someone who might be able to help."
Believe it or not, this idea has been lurking in my mind since early 2021, but life happened and it took a backseat. However, I am finally ready to write this fic, and I really hope you guys like it.
