Arizona leaned over Lynzee who was lying naked, asleep in Arizona's bed. Arizona kissed her gently and Lynzee stirred awake slowly.
"Morning," Arizona said as she smiled brightly. "I have to get going to work, you think you can behave yourself while I'm gone?"
Lynzee stretched and recoiled as the pain resonated through her ribs, "Ahhh shhhhhiiiiiiiiish ka-bob that hurts!"
"Yes, I'm sure it does. And that's why you need to take it easy. Absolutely, no working out. Do you understand?"
"Can I at least go for a walk?"
"Can you wait until I get home and I'll go with you?"
"If I must."
"You must," Arizona kissed Lynzee. "I'll see you later okay?"
"Okay," Lynzee sat up exposing her breasts with just the sheets over her lap.
"Don't do that," Arizona pouted.
"What?"
"You look too delicious to leave and I really have to go."
Lynzee cocked a half-smile, "You won't touch me right now anyway cause I have to rest…"
"Uh huh, well when you're recovered it's game on."
"Get out of here before I ravish you right now and break another rib."
Arizona laughed and took off for work.
At work Arizona ran into Amelia in the attending's lounge.
"Good morning, Dr. Robbins. How are you?"
Arizona looked at her friend strangely, "Good morning, Dr. Shepherd. I'm well, and you?"
"I'm good. How is Lynzee this morning?"
"In pain, but doing okay."
"Yeah, broken ribs are no picnic. So… I couldn't help but notice your exchange with Dr. Torres yesterday."
"Yeah… there's some history there but it's over. It was over a long time ago."
"Are you sure, cause it looked like there was still something there."
"It was a long time ago. We…" Arizona paused, "Broke each other's hearts. But she moved on and so have I so… that's that. I just haven't seen her a whole lot since I've been back so obviously it brings up a lot of feelings and memories, but really, I'm happy with Lynzee, and I have no regrets and I'm sure Callie doesn't either. I did some amazing work in Africa which I wouldn't change for anything, and she has a daughter now. We both essentially got what we wanted, just without each other." Arizona's pager went off and she looked down to check it out, "Duty calls… see you later!"
Arizona headed for the pit and ran into Alex.
"What's up?"
"Kid swallowed a magnet," Alex showed the x-rays to Arizona who looked them over.
"You paged me for this? You can handle this, no problem."
"The parents requested you specifically because you're the best," Alex said annoyed.
"Who are the parents?" Arizona asked as she looked up. It was Callie and Mark. "Great…" Arizona headed over to bed 3 where Callie and Mark stood over their daughter, Sofia.
"Mommy, my belly hurts!" Sofia said as Arizona headed over to bed 3.
"I know baby that's why we're here, we'll get you all fixed up."
Arizona examined Sofia quickly, "Alex book an OR."
"Already done, boss. I'll meet you up there."
"Alex could totally do this surgery you guys, you know that right?" Arizona said to Callie and Mark.
"No way, Robbins," Mark asserted. "You're the best, I want the best."
Callie looked pleadingly into Arizona's eyes.
"She'll be fine, Callie. I'll make sure of it." Arizona said softly as she and the nurse wheeled Sofia off to the surgical floor. Mark started to come along too. "No way, Mark. You are not allowed in my OR."
"Why not?! She's my child." Mark protested.
"Exactly! I can't have you breathing down my neck and looking over my shoulder the whole time. I will have Alex or one of the interns keep you both updated. You wanted the best, now let me do my damn job and get out of the way."
Callie grabbed Mark's arm and pulled him back. "It's okay, Mark. Sofia is in the best hands."
Arizona got Sofia up to the surgical floor and got scrubbed in for her surgery. Alex walked in and joined in the preparation.
"This has got to suck so much for you."
"It's whatever, Alex. I'm just going to act like she's any other patient."
"Yeah but she isn't."
"I know that, Alex!" Arizona burst out. "I'm sorry," Arizona took a breath. "Just, stop talking, okay?"
Arizona finished scrubbing and headed into the OR.
Arizona headed into the waiting room and found Callie and Mark. Arizona smiled at them both letting them know the surgery went well.
"Everything went very well. She's in recovery, you can go in and see her. I'm not sure if you want to keep it or not, but I saved you the souvenir she swallowed."
Callie immediately embraced Arizona, holding her tightly and started crying, "Thank you, Arizona. You have no idea."
Arizona closed her eyes, and hugged Callie back.
"Nice job, Robbins. Never doubted you for a second," Mark said.
Callie eventually let Arizona go and wiped her eyes.
"I'll come in and check on you guys after a while, okay?" Arizona said softly.
"Thank you, Arizona," Callie said again.
"You're welcome, Callie, of course."
Arizona took off heading for the lounge. She pulled out her phone and text Lynzee.
Just checking in… how are you feeling? I need wine tonight by the way. Long day already. I miss you.
After a long day, Arizona headed out to the parking lot to head for home. She retrieved her phone out of her purse and saw she had a text back from Lynzee from a couple hours ago.
Ribs hurt. Bored. I've watched waaaay too much daytime tv than I care for. Who watches this stuff. And why are there so many people out there who don't know who the father is? Wine sounds good, text me on your way home.
Arizona started to text Lynzee she was on her way home but started to get the feeling she was being watched. She stopped and looked around but didn't see anyone. As she started to text Lynzee again she heard footsteps and turned around.
"Arizona, hey, wait up!" Arizona saw Callie making her way towards her in the parking lot.
"Callie, is everything okay? Is Sofia okay?"
"Oh, yeah no it's nothing bad. I just wanted to thank you again for everything today. I really appreciate it."
"Of course," Arizona smiled warmly.
A quick flash of light erupted and the two women jumped, startled from the bright light.
"Jesus!" Arizona yelled as she clutched her chest.
"What the Hell was that?" Callie put her hand on Arizona's arm, "Are you okay?"
Arizona took a breath, "I'm fine, thank you." Arizona was trying to get a look at who was snapping photos at them and raised her voice slight as she said, "I'm just not used getting my photo taken randomly when I'm just trying to walk to my car!"
"I can walk you to your car if you need assistance, I can stand in front of you, I assure you they don't want my photograph," Callie laughed at herself.
"Thank you, that's very kind of you." The two slowly strolled to Arizona's car, "So, how have you been? Sofia is very beautiful."
"Thank you. I'm good. We're good. Mark is a great dad. I mean I never thought he'd be the father of my child when I told you I wanted to have kids but, it's all kind of worked out. He lives right across the hall from us so whenever either of us wants to go on a date or whatever we just swap dating days."
"You guys aren't a couple?"
"Me and Mark? Oh, Hell no! We'd kill each other," Callie said laughing.
"He dates all the women he wants and… so do I."
"You date a lot of women?"
"Well, no… I mean… I have dated a couple women since you left but… it didn't work out."
"As long as you're happy, Calliope."
Callie grabbed Arizona's hands and took them in her own.
"Arizona, I'm sorry it never worked out with us. I hope you know, I feel like you're the one that got away."
"Callie, I…" Arizona trailed off as Callie leaned in quickly and kissed Arizona before Arizona could react. Another flash erupted and Arizona pushed Callie back slightly. "Callie, I'm sorry but I can't. I'm in a relationship."
"I know… I just… if you ever find yourself available again… maybe I will be too." Callie headed back towards the hospital.
"Shit," Arizona whispered to herself as she got in her car. She got out her phone and finally texted Lynzee and let her know she was leaving the hospital and would be home soon.
When she walked in the door the house was dimly lit and there was a trail of rose petals from the door to the bathroom. There was a note next to a glass of white wine.
Remove all your clothes and follow the rose petals.
Arizona smiled, set down her purse, grabbed the glass of wine and complied with the note. By the time she got to the end of the petals, she was completely naked and found Lynzee sitting in the large over-sized bath tub full of bubble bath with her own glass of wine. Arizona climbed in and let the hot water wash over her.
"You read my mind," Arizona smiled as she leaned back letting the water flow up to her neck.
"Well you said you wanted wine and it was a long day so, I thought this would be nice. You have a fantastic bathtub by the way. This thing is huge."
"It's what sold me on buying the place."
"Slide on over here and I'll rub your neck and shoulders."
"Mmmm," Arizona lifted her toes out of the water and looked pleadingly at Lynzee, "Will you start with my feet? I've been on them all day."
Lynzee smiled across at Arizona and set down her glass of wine and reached up and grabbed Arizona's feet in her hands and started to massage them. "Of course."
"Give me your feet and I'll do yours while you do mine."
"Nope, I'm good."
Arizona scrunched her eyebrows looking at Lynzee quizzically, "You don't like your feet touched?"
"I'm…" Lynzee hesitated, "ticklish."
Arizona smiled, "Well that's good to know, don't worry I won't tickle you, right now anyway. When your ribs are healed that's another story."
"Uh huh…"
"Mmmm that feels amazing," Arizona said as she leaned her head back as Lynzee rubbed into her feet.
"Rough day?"
"It was a weird day." Arizona picked her head up dreading what she knew she had to say. "Lynz, I…"
Lynzee waited a moment, "Yeah?"
"I messed up."
"What do you mean?"
"When I was leaving the hospital I got photographed on my way to my car."
"Okay… did you flip them the bird or something? Lord knows I've wanted to do that more than once…"
"They may have gotten a photo of Callie kissing me."
Lynzee stopped massaging Arizona's feet and let them sink down into the water.
"Why was Callie kissing you?"
"Her daughter came in today and had swallowed a magnet and I had to operate on her."
"So she kissed you as a thank you?"
"I don't know… it all happened so fast, out of nowhere. She came out into the parking lot to thank me and then we were just talking and then she said I was the one that got away and she kissed me and then the flash went off so I know they got the photo."
"Did you kiss her back?"
"No! I swear, I pushed her back and told her I was in a relationship with you. And that was it, I swear."
Lynzee sat quiet for a moment thinking about what Arizona had just described to her. "Okay."
"Okay? Just okay? You're not mad?"
Lynzee finished the wine in her glass, "I'm not happy about it but getting mad isn't going to change anything. It happened. There's a good chance it's in the tabloids tomorrow, or on TMZ now… I thought she had a baby with her best friend what happened with that?"
"They just had a baby together, they're co-parenting or whatever but they're not a couple I guess."
"Huh. Interesting."
Arizona set down her glass of wine and moved over in front of Lynzee in the tub and put her hands on either side of Lynzee's face and looked deeply into her eyes, "I'm sorry I let this happen. I swear I don't love Callie anymore, I promise. What we had was a long time ago. I really like you and I love you and I want to be with you, okay?" Arizona kissed Lynzee gently and Lynzee slid her hands down Arizona's sides to her waist holding her in place. Arizona kissed Lynzee deeper and Lynzee kissed her back sliding her tongue inside Arizona's mouth gliding her tongue along Arizona's. Arizona broke away and kissed up to Lynzee's ear, "You know what's nice about being in the bath tub?" Arizona started sucking on Lynzee's earlobe.
Lynzee closed her eyes and moaned through the pleasure Arizona was bringing her, sending tingles through her body, "Hmmm?"
"Less gravity. I can have my way with you and I don't have to worry about hurting you." Arizona continued kissing Lynzee along her neck and down to her shoulder.
"It's a good thing we stayed at your place then instead of mine. I only have a shower."
