Aaaaa-choo!
Alya felt her whole body shake as she let out a powerful sneeze. A sneeze that felt like it had exploded through her body and blasted through her lungs.
Alya reached for a tissue and blew into it. She hated being sick. And she especially hated being sick with a cold. A really bad cold that left her feeling terrible and tired and she was fed up with it already.
Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo!
Of course, it would be easier if it wasn't for the near incessant sneezing. She couldn't go five minutes without another sneezing fit, or so it seemed.
Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo!
Alya let out a stream of curses and swear words about her sneezes. And life in general. She couldn't even have her friends over in case she infected them.
So yeah, being sick sucked.
At least she didn't have to worry about Ella and Etta bothering her. They were in bed with the same cold.
She grabbed a tissue and started blowing her nose. It would only be tissue one thousand and six. (Okay an exaggeration, but it felt like it. Sue her, she wasn't exactly writing a news report here!)
And if that wasn't bad enough, Majestia was in Paris. Every amateur with a phone was filming her as she passed by. Sometimes she even interacted with the public. All as part of an international goodwill tour for the United Heroez.
And Alya was trapped at home, feeling like death warmed over. She hadn't even seen Majestia pass in the distance. And while Ladybug had Chat Noir were now her favourite superheroes, she still had a soft spot for Majestia. (And who wouldn't? Majestia was awesome!)
So yeah, being sick sucked even more than usual right now.
Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo!
Someone, somewhere, was having a long, hard laugh at her expense, she thought to herself. No doubt some petty deity or fate or something like that was enjoying the irony. The dedicated superhero fan who ran Paris's most popular superhero blog was unable to go out and meet the most famous superhero in the world.
Whoever it was, sucked. Couldn't it have waited for a week or two? She would actually have had a chance to meet Majestia. Maybe even get an interview. At the very least, she could have footage of her flying around and have interviews of the people Majestia had talked to. That would have been cool.
But no. She was stuck at home with an awful cold.
Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo!
An awful cold that JUST. NOT. STOP. She couldn't even sleep it off. Every time she tried, the blasted sneezing started up again.
So yeah. Tired, snotty and more than a little fed up. There were only so many Ladybug and Chat Noir videos you could watch before it became too much.
Actually she had reached too much long before she stopped. (She avoided watching videos about Majestia. That was just rubbing salt in the wound.)
Her phone lit up and Alya glanced at her phone, half expecting a notification from Facebook or Reddit or something.
What she wasn't expecting was a video from Marinette. She smiled to herself. It was probably just a video of Majestia flying by. She pressed play and gasped in surprise.
It was, as she had expected, a video of Majestia. But it was definitely not a fly past.
It was taken from Marinette's balcony. Majestia was just hovering in place and looking straight at the camera with a smile on her face. Her cape was moving slightly in the wind and Marinette's flowers moved slightly in the breeze, but she was hovering there unaffected by the wind.
"Hello Alya," Majestia said in heavily accented French and Alya felt her heart beat faster. Her idol knew her name. Her idol knew her name! Majestia continued.
"Marinette tells me that you are a big fan of me," Okay, she was so going to hug the living daylights out of her best friend the moment she was better. This was amazing!
"I am happy that I have inspired you so well. (Okay, so Majestia's French was a bit rough around the edges. But it was good enough as far as Alya was concerned. One of her favourite heroes was talking to her!!! Her!!!)
"Thank you Alya. Thank you for taking my words to heart. It is inspiring to know that my words have inspired you to stand up for others." She paused and looked directly into the camera. "It's not always easy to do the right thing, especially in our ordinary lives. There's always some pressure, some doubt to not stand up. It takes courage and confidence sometimes to stand up and be counted. To challenge that which is wrong."
Alya pinched her nose, desperately trying to stop the next bout of sneezing.
"Just remember. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing."
SHE SAID IT, SHE SAID IT, SHE SAID IT! SHE SAID THAT.
Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo!
Alya swore as another bout of sneezing interrupted her geeking out. Could it not have waited for another five minutes? Five more freaking minutes for her to geek out uninterrupted?
Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo!
The answer wasâapparently not.
She grabbed a fresh tissue and continued watching the video.
"I hope that you make a swift recovery and that the next time I'm in Paris, I will be able to talk to you in person," Majestia said with a smile. "And maybe an interview for your blog. We'll see."
Alya let out a long squeal of joy. Her idol was willing to consider giving her an interview!?! An actual interview!?! For the Ladyblog!?!
Forget hugging Marinette, she was going to marry that girl and/or name her first born daughter after her! (Nino could be her co-spouse and Adrien could be Marinette's, she thought to herself with some amusement.)
Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo!
Her phone lit up once more as a new message from Marinette came in.
"Did you like your gift?"
Alya decided to respond in the most appropriate way to the message.
"Ofyjfgkfsgkifvmjfbmlgxbt"
Random key smashes. Obviously. She continued typing.
"Seriously girl, ur the best. I'm going to marry you for this."
Marinette responded with a smiling emoji.
"Don't worry, we can have Adrien and Nino as our side pieces."
"Seriously though, you're amazing. How did you do it?"
"I got lucky," Marinette texted back. "Majestia was flying by my balcony when I was there and I was able to get her attention. I explained the situation and she agreed to do the message."
"Now get better!!! I miss seeing my best friend and everyone misses you. Except for Chloé, but that's just her."
"Will do. Send everyone my love. Especially you."
Alya leaned back on her bed with a smile on her face. She was starting to feel better already.
Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo! Aaaaa-choo!
Well maybe not. But with an amazing best friend like Marinette, she felt ready to take on anything.
AN: I came up with this idea when I was sick with COVID (I'm better now.) And I was also trying to think of ways to have Marinette be a supportive friend to Alya that didn't involve Ladybug. So this was born.
