"L0-L6. Time to wake up." After a noticing a trend of I.E.D's in the area, Republic command had issued Delta squad with a prototype L-series droid. The L-series specialized in finding hidden devices that normal scanners couldn't detect. The droid came to life with a loud series of beeps and chirps. Boss observed with skepticism.
"Well, it's not the quietest droid, is it, Fixer?"
It? She's got a name, Boss. Lola.
"Lola?"
"It's what the other clones call her sir."
"Her?"
Boss couldn't help but feel a sense of Déjà vu. Before he could say anything, the droid slowly moved under Tabura, prompting her to give some words of encouragement. "Come on, Lola. Find the device, yeah?"
"Yeah, Lola, and get turned into blown-up astro-scrap." Boss muttered before being punched in the arm!
"No, boss!" Scorch proclaimed, clearly also enamored with the droid. After another 5 minutes of scanning, Boss's opinion of the droid began to soften slightly as he recognized L0-L6's purpose. "Rather her than me, though, right?"
The other commandos looked at Lola before looking at Boss and remaining silent.
Boss gave a sigh. "Thanks team."
The scanning went on for another half hour as Boss became more impatient. "Lucky we've got all day." He mentioned.
"I don't think she's well, boss." Observed Delta 42 as they heard an unhappy chirp.
"Yeah, that means she's got a mild malfunction." Said Fixer.
"Oh, then, should we take her to the special droidy doctor?" Boss quipped. The entire team ignored him as Lola returned to their welcoming embrace.
The elite commandos crouched down and proceeded to fawn over her. "Hey! Good girl!" "Hey, Lola!" "Who's a good girl, Lola?".
"Good girl?! She didn't even find anything!" Boss barked in disbelief.
"She's not well, is she? Is she, is she?" Scorch answered as he began scratching Lola's 'Belly'.
Boss stood with pride as squad leader. "It's all down to me, then."
"She's not happy, are you Lola?" He looked over as his entire squad was pampering Lola and comforting her with hugs and belly rubs.
"Er...highly skilled commando with opposable thumbs here."
"You did such a good job Lola. If anyone hurts you, I'll rip out their guts." Sev declared as she rewarded him with an extra sniper clip from her back storage component.
Boss's discomfort was quickly replaced with frustration as he rhetorically asked "Delta's, would I command more of your respect if I could crap out blaster ammo?!"
The squad immediately ceased their coddling and stood to attention.
"Yeah, obviously." "Absolutely sir." "100% Boss."
Boss remained silent as he realised, he would probably do the same.
