Disclaimer: Don't own BTTF and I never will; besides a few side characters like Abby and a new character in this chapter. Who? Find out!
Marty and I arrived at the cafeteria at lunchtime where everyone was crammed around various tables. We spotted dad off to the side sitting alone with a notebook and pencil writing things down. "Alright, here goes nothing," Marty said to me and walked over to George. He sat down in front of him and started talking, but George hardly took his eyes away from what he was writing.
"…there she is. Abby!" I heard someone from behind me call. I turned around and saw Lorraine, Shelly, and Emma sitting next to each other. Lorraine was waving me over. I looked back at Marty who kept talking to George, but now he had his full attention.
'Oh, would you look at that? Marty got dad, I mean George to talk to him with no problems whatsoever. He probably would have never given me the time of day if that was me over there instead of Marty.' With that, I walked over to the girls having nothing better to do.
"Hi, Abby. Aren't you going to eat?" Lorraine asked.
"Oh. I already ate," I said. It was true as Marty and I left to grab a bite with Doc until lunchtime as we wouldn't be able to talk to him during a class that we weren't on the class roster. At least we could blend in at lunchtime.
"Oh," she said.
"Lorraine, what time do you want to meet on Wednesday?" Emma asked.
"I guess we can just go right after school. We can drop our bags off at my house and head over to Ruths. Abby, are you going to the Enchantment Under the Sea dance?"
"Uhh….no," I stuttered.
"Aw come on. It'll be fun!" Emma said.
"And….I think you got an admirer already," Lorraine said.
"What? Who?" I asked looking around. Then I made eye contact with the boy with the orange hair that I had seen countless times since we got here. I gasped and felt my face go red as his buddies were all laughing at him, but just smiled at me. Then he turned away in embarrassment.
"You're blushing," Shelly said laughing.
"Shut up," I said rubbing my cheeks.
"Come on. You gotta go with us!" Lorraine said.
"Well, who are you going with?" I asked.
"Well well well, look who we've got here. How's my girl doing?" a familiar voice said. Suddenly, Biff pulled up a seat right behind Lorraine and started hugging and attempting to kiss her.
"Leave me alone, Biff," she said.
"Come on Lorraine, you want it. You know you want it and you want me to give it to you," he said with his friends laughing behind him.
"Shut your filthy mouth," Lorraine said slapping him. "I'm not that kind of girl."
"Biff, get lost!" I snapped. Biff froze and then made eye contact with me.
"What'd you say you little shi*?!" he asked me. I instantly got chills and goosebumps all over my body. This left me unable to respond. Then Biff inched closer to me across the table. "That's what I thought. You don't wanna mess with me, kid. So you keep your mouth shut, or I'm gonna shut it for ya," he warned. My eyes went wide. I heard someone behind me slam the table and I saw the red-head stand up.
"Get your meaty hooks off of me," Lorraine yelled when Biff squeezed her harder.
"You heard her!" I heard Marty say. He lifted Biff out of his seat by his shirt and was instantly taller than him. My eyes went wide as Marty got quiet and tried to fix Biff's shirt.
"What's it to you, butthead?" Biff said pushing Marty. Marty could hardly move and I stood up almost bumping into that boy who had come over. This time, we made eye contact, and instantly looked away from each other. Biff pushed Marty again and the two grabbed the other's shirt and prepared to throw a punch.
"Shi*!" I muttered under my breath. That's when Vice Principle Strickland came up and glared at Biff with his arms crossed. Marty noticed him too and the two slowly released their grips. Biff chuckled and nonchalantly put his arm around Marty's neck.
"Look uh…since you're new here, I'm gonna cut you a break….today. But why don't you make like a tree, and get out of here," Biff warned. Then he started walking away with his buddies. Marty and I looked back and saw that George was gone.
'Great.'
Break*Break*Break*Break*Break*Break*Break*Break*Break
Marty and I ran after George as soon as school let out and chased him to his house. "George!" Marty said. He turned around to face us.
"Why do you two keep following me around?" he asked and tried to speed-walk to his door. I stopped running as I got this uncomfortable feeling in my throat while Marty ran up and grabbed his shoulder.
"Look, George. If you don't take Lorraine to that dance, I am going to regret it for the rest of my life," Marty said.
"But I can't go. Otherwise, I'll miss my favorite television program, Science Fiction Theater. And Lorraine probably doesn't want to go to the dance with a guy like me," George insisted.
"But she wants to go with you George, she really wants to!" Marty continued.
"Look! I'm just not ready to ask Lorraine out to the dance, and not you, or anyone else on this earth is gonna change my mind!" he snapped and ran back inside slamming the door.
"This is a disaster," I said gripping my head.
"Hold on, we still got some time," Marty said, and then pulled out the photo of us. I came over and saw that Dave was completely gone except for his legs below his knees.
"You sure?" I asked getting antsy. Suddenly, Marty's face lit up and he smiled wide.
"Trust me. I've got a plan,"

The next afternoon
All-day, Marty had been telling us how he'd figured out a way to get George to ask Lorraine out to the dance.
"How?" I asked for the hundredth time.
"I told you, you'll find out. You wanna head downtown and grab a drink?" he asked.
"I suppose," I said. After Doc gave us some pocket money, both of us headed downtown. Marty picked up a Pepsi at the local gas station which I was surprised was only 50 cents.
"Why can't they be this cheap at home?" I asked.
"I know," Marty said.
"Marty! Marty!" We heard someone say. We turned around and saw George running up to us
"Oh hi George," Marty said.
"Marty, I need your help! I have to ask Lorraine out to the dance, but I don't know how to do it."
"Alright alright, keep your pants on, she's over in the café," he said trying so hard to open the bottle. George meanwhile just took it and used some strange device to open the lid. Then he handed the bottle back to Marty and started speed walking to the café. Marty motioned me to follow, and we chased after him. "So what made you change your mind?" he asked winking at me.
"Last night, Darth Vader came down from the planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't take Lorraine out, he'd melt my brain," George explained nervously. I raised an eyebrow at my brother, and with his big smile, told George to keep quiet about the whole brain-melting thing.
"Oh, yeah! Yeah!" George said and we continued to walk.
"Oh and I don't think I've introduced you. George, this is my sister, Abby. She likes to tag along with me," he said.
'No need to rub it in, Marty,' I thought.
"Hi Abby," he said.
"Hi," I said back shyly.
"Ok, there she is. So just go in there, and ask her out," Marty said pointing at Lorraine sitting in a booth with Emma and Shelly.
"But I don't know what to say," George said.
"Here. I'll go in and get her warmed up for you," I said.
"Alright Abs, but don't get in the way when George makes his move," Marty warned.
"Have a little faith, bro," I said. With that, I walked inside. I took a deep breath and walked over towards their booth. Fortunately, Lorraine saw me before I got there.
"Hi, Abby!" Lorraine said waving.
"Hey guys," I said.
"Come on and sit!" she continued waving me over, and I came over and sat next to Lorraine.
"How have you been? How's Calvin?" she asked.
"He's fine. Just still getting over that little bump on his head," I said.
"I still can't believe that he survived getting hit by a car," Emma said.
"Yeah, I am never letting him live that down," I said. Then, a waiter came over to us.
"Can I get you anything miss?" a waiter asked me.
"Uhhhh…." I said looking around at the drinks and snacks on the other tables. "Just get me a chocolate milkshake, please," I said.
"Yes ma'am, I'll be right back," he said.
"So Lorraine, remember that boy I introduced you to…uh oh," I said with my eyes going wide.
"What?" the girls asked. That's when a group of boys came in and sat at the bar including the red-head who always gave me butterflies. As soon as the girls saw him, they started to giggle.
"It's that boy again. He is totally into you," Shelly said.
"No, he's not," I said, trying to hide my face from him.
"Yes, he is," Lorraine said. That's when the waiter came over and brought me my milkshake. After a quick thanks, I started sipping still trying to hide from him. "He's in my science class and yesterday after lunch, his face was bright red when his buddies brought you up. I heard one of them say how cute you were, and then he said 'yeah' all dreamy-like. He really likes you. Maybe if you talk to him, he'll ask you out to the dance," Lorraine said.
"No!" I said louder than I intended. "I-I'm not into b-boys," I said pathetically.
"You know boys aren't that bad," Emma said.
"Unless they're Biff and his gang," Lorraine said, which got a laugh out of us.
"What's his name? Just out of curiosity," I said.
"His name is….."
"Lorraine," someone said interrupting us. We looked over and saw George standing in front of us holding a notepad. "My density has popped me to you," he said. I raised an eyebrow at this and it took all my energy to not burst out laughing.
"What?" Lorraine said.
"Oh," George said awkwardly. Then he kept looking between his notepad and Lorraine. "What I meant to say…was…."
'Come on Dad,' I thought.
"Wait a minute, don't I know you from somewhere?" Lorraine asked. George then smiled.
"Yes! Yes! I'm George; George Mcfly, and I am your density," he said, and I put my hand on my forehead. "I mean your destiny," he said.
"Ohhhhh," Lorraine said dreamily. I couldn't help but snicker.
"Hey, Mcfly!" I heard someone shout. I looked and saw Biff and his gang at the front door looking at us. The entire place went quiet and stared at Biff. George looked over at Biff, got wide-eyed, and then looked down at his shoes.
"I thought I told you to never come in here," Biff said. George then went over to face Biff. "This is gonna cost ya."
"I'm sorry, Biff," George muttered walking away from us. "I'll leave."
"George," I whined.
"How much money ya got on ya?" he asked coming over to us.
"How much do you want, Biff?" It was then that I saw Marty stick his foot out in front of Biff. Then, Biff tripped and landed on his chest with most of the café laughing because of it; even some of Biff's buddies. I even laughed too and then my 'admirer' and I made eye contact. Biff immediately got up and turned to face Marty who he towered over.
'Shootshootshoot!' I thought to myself and even stood up from the booth.
"It's Calvin," I heard Lorraine say.
"Alright, you punk! Now I'm gonna…"
"Whoa whoa, Biff. What's that over there?" Marty said calmly. Biff looked away and then Marty sucker-punched him so hard that he fell and landed on the table behind him. With that, I busted out laughing as did my admirer's entire crew. We looked at one another again and just laughed. Now my heart was beating very fast, but I didn't look away this time. Lorraine meanwhile has sneaked past me and held onto George's shoulder as she stared at my brother. Suddenly, Marty ran up to Biff's crew and pushed them down before bolting out of the café.
"That's Calvin Klein! Oh my God, he's a dream" Lorraine said.
"Don't just lay there you buttheads, after him!" Biff yelled at his gang. They all got up and ran out while everyone meanwhile was looking outside at Marty running for his life. He ran to a bunch of kids riding on some kind of crate-scooter thing and forcibly lifted one of the kids off of it.
"Dude! Are you serious?!" I said. He broke the create-thing off and now it looked like a regular skateboard. Then he started skateboarding down the sidewalk with Biff's crew chasing after him.
"Whoa! What's that?"
"What's that thing he's on?"
"It's some kind of board with wheels!"
"That's amazing," people in the café said and everyone crowded to the nearest window. Then we all watched as Marty grabbed made a 180 and grabbed onto a truck that was headed back towards the other direction and Biff's gang was powerless to catch up to him. Suddenly, everyone ran out of the café to chase after him including the café staff. I was the only one left in there and just sat back down at my booth and watched everyone run after Marty and leaving me in the dust all over again.
I sat there for a few seconds before I burst into tears. Once again, everyone praises Marty and literately worships the ground he walks on, and I'm left all alone; forgotten.
'No! We've been through this! You should be honored! Thanks to him, you've never been picked on or bullied. You've never had to worry about anything in your entire life. But why do I feel this way?!' I asked myself and let more tears fall. I look at my wrists still wearing my gloves knowing full well what was behind them. What would he say if he ever found out? I don't know if Mom and Dad or Dave would care. Linda might show some concern, but God forbid if Marty ever found out the reason why. He'd probably never forgive himself and it would be all my fault. That's when I heard the door to the café open back up and in walked my admirer staring at me. I gasped and looked down at the table while quickly trying to wipe my tears as he slowly walked over to me.
"May I sit down?" he asked.
'He's a gentleman too?!' I thought, before nodding my head as intense butterflies were swimming around my stomach. He sat down across from me and we all stared at each other.
"Are you alright?" he asked. His voice was perfect silk and even had a tad British accent in him. Oh my God, someone pinch me. "I'm sorry for intruding, but I saw you crying from outside and I just wanted to make sure you were alright."
"Oh….sorry. I didn't think anyone would be watching me," I said trying to hide my face again in embarrassment.
"Don't worry. I wasn't looking at you specifically, I just happened to catch you sitting by yourself in the window as I said. Everyone was really interested in that boy who punched that bully," he said.
"Of course, they were," I said rolling my eyes.
"You know him?" he asked.
"My brother," I stated.
"Really? That was your brother?! He's incredible! Did you see how amazing he was on that board?"
"Yeah, but that's all anyone ever cares about!" I snapped.
"He must be very popular," he said.
"Very," I stressed. "And then there's me."
"Popular older sibling? I know how that is," he said.
"You do?" I asked perking up.
"My older brother is my parent's pride and joy. He's the golden child who gets all the good grades, is adored by everyone, and is gonna become a famous lawyer just like Father is. Then there's the younger son; the boy with average grades and who isn't interested in attending college in the first place. My father loves reminding me how much of a disappointment I am compared to my older brother. My parents moved me halfway across the country just so they could be closer to the golden boy's college in case they needed his support. Yet they hardly ever showed up to any of my dance recitals. They think dancing isn't manly enough." With that, I was staring at him longingly. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to rant at you, but trust me; I know what it's like to be stuck in a sibling's shadow."
"Really?" I asked. Suddenly, we heard a loud crash from outside. This caused me to scream, and both of us jumped out of our seats and ran outside. The crowd was standing around and we squeezed our way past them to see a car on the other side of the park completely covered in manure. A crowd was starting to form and we saw some people inside the car struggling to get out. "Wait, was that Biff?!" I asked.
"Yup," Lorraine said who was next to me. Both of us started giggling like schoolgirls. Then I saw Marty give his board back to the kid he took it from and then ran away.
"And there goes my brother without me," I said. "I guess I better be heading home now."
"Ok. We'll see you tomorrow Abby," Lorraine said smiling wide at me.
"Bye Lorrine," I said. Then I turned back to my admirer.
"Thanks for sitting with me. I don't know what you did, but I'm not as upset as I was," I said.
"Me? I'm the one who should be thanking you. I'm the one who was mostly venting my frustrations, but you were a great listener," he said taking a small step closer towards me. I smiled shyly at this.
"Thanks. I suppose I'll see you around," I said.
"I look forward to it," he said. "Wait, I don't think I asked you your name," he said. Some people behind him started laughing and the boy turned around and hushed them.
"That's alright. I'm Abigail Mc-er…Klein. Abigail Klein; but you can call me Abby," I said.
"Benjamin. Benjamin Comings," he said holding out his hand. I shook Benjamin's hand and it felt like my whole hand went numb because of it. Both of us continued to shake each other's hands for about twenty seconds before we pulled away.
"I'll see you around," Benjamin said, and then turned to leave with his buddies with them 'oooing' as they walked away.
"I told you he was into you," Lorraine said.
"Yeah right," I said. "See ya," I said and ran back to Doc's house.
Break*Break*Break*Break*Break*Break*Break*Break*Break*Break*Break
I walked towards Doc's house and just when I reached the edge of his property, Marty was running towards me. "Good. I thought I was gonna have to run back into town to come to get you," he said.
"I'm not the one who left your sister behind," I said.
"I thought you were right behind me. I was nervous that you were gonna chase after me after I left the café, but I'm really glad that you didn't."
"Yeah, but you had the whole crowd in there going nuts," I said.
"Really? I hardly did anything," he said.
"Right. You don't have to even lift a finger for the entire world to worship you," I snapped.
"Whoa, easy there kid," Marty said. Suddenly my eyes went wide at what I said.
"Oh. I was…trying to be funny," I said.
"Well ha ha. Come on, let's get inside to see what Doc's been doing all day," Marty said. Both of us walked into his lab and saw Doc sitting at the T.V watching the video of himself.
'Oh my God. They found me. I don't know how, but they found me. RUN FOR IT YOU TWO!'
Marty and I looked at each other as that terrible memory replayed in front of our eyes. I turned away, but Marty somehow managed to watch it all over again after Doc rewound it.
'Oh my God. They found me. I don't know how, but they found me. RUN FOR IT YOU TWO!'
"Doc," Marty said finally.
"Marty. Abby. I didn't hear you two come in," he said. "Fascinating device, this video unit," Doc said putting the camera down.
"Listen Doc. There's something you've gotta know about what happens the night we make that…"
"Please Marty, don't tell me. One man shouldn't know too much about his own destiny," Doc said going over and fixing the long hook on the DeLorean.
"Doc, you really might wanna know about this one," I said.
"Nope! If I know too much about my future then I'm a danger to my own very existence; just as you two have endangered yours." Doc said. With that, I squeezed my eyes shut and exhaled loudly as both of us knew he was right.
"Y-you're right," Marty got out.
"Don't worry. I'll find out what it is one day. Now, come over here, and let me show you what I've been working on. Oh and Abby, I picked up some dresses for you to wear so you don't have to wear your mom's dress and your clothes for a week straight," Doc explained.
"Oh thanks," I said.
"You're welcome. Now look at this," he said taking us over to a large model of what looked like a replica of downtown using white cardboard. "This is my plan for sending you two home. Please excuse the crudity of this model as I didn't have time to do it to scale or to paint it." Marty and I looked at each other in amazement.
"It's great," Marty said.
"Why thank you. Now on top of the clocktower, we run some industrialized strength electrical cable to where the lightning is set to hit, all the way down and suspending it over the street of these two lamp posts. Meanwhile, I've outfitted the time machine with this big pole and hook that runs directly into the flux capacitor," Doc said, going over to the car and showing us the hook we saw earlier. Then, at the calculated moment, you will start driving down the street driving directly towards the cable at exactly 88 miles per hour. According to the flyer, the lightning will strike the clock tower at precisely 10:04 P.M which will strike and electrify the cable just as the hook makes contact with the wire down here and generating 1.21 gigawatts to the flux capacitor and sending both of you back home to 1985. Any questions?" he asked. Marty and I just looked at each other. "Here, let me show you. Marty, you wind up the car and release it while I simulate the lightning." Doc handed Marty a red convertible toy car while he went to plug in a large plug. Then he got his booster cables and connected one to the streetlight and waited to put the other one on top of the clocktower.
"Ready? Abby step back a little," he warned and I did just that.
"Set." Marty then put the car down but didn't let go.
"Release!" Doc yelled. Marty let go of the car and then Doc connected the wire for only a second. A spark followed the wire, but then exploded right on the stop.
"Whoa!" Marty said jumping back.
"Shoot!" I said at the same time also jumping back. All we saw next was the little toy car currently on fire heading towards some rags tossed to the side; which also caught them on fire. Doc gasped and then went over with a fire extinguisher putting out the fire.
"You extol me with a lot of confidence, Doc," Marty said.
"Don't worry. You leave the lightning to me and you two just worry about your Pop. Speaking of that, what happened today? Did he ask her out?" Doc asked after extinguishing the fire.
"Yeah, I think so," Marty said.
"It was so weird at first though. He started with 'my density has brought me to you,'" I said.
"Density? I told him destiny, not density," Marty said.
"He got there eventually," I said. Suddenly there was a knock on the door and all of us froze. Doc went over to the window to see who was knocking.
"Great Scott! It's your mom! She's tracked you down," Doc screamed.
"Crap!" I said.
"Here! Help me cover up the car!" Doc said. He tossed the extinguisher aside while he and Marty covered the car, while I went to the back and took care of that side. Once that was done, Doc opened the door and Lorraine walked in.
"H-hi Calv-Marty," she said still carrying her school stuff.
"Hi, mom…Lorraine. How did you know I was here?" Marty asked rubbing his neck.
"I followed Abby," she said. Everyone looked at me and I bit my lip embarrassed.
"Oh…well this is my Doc…Uncle! Doc…Brown," Marty said and Doc gave him a funny look. The two greeted each other and then Doc motioned me away as he and Lorraine started talking. Doc meanwhile was glaring at him like a stern parent. I started silently laughing.
"Marty…I was kinda wondering…..hoping that you would take me to the…Enchantment Under the Sea dance on Saturday?" Lorraine said. With that, I stopped laughing and covered my forehead with both hands and also heard Doc exhale loudly.
"Y-you mean no one's asked you yet?" Marty asked.
"No. Not yet," Lorraine said.
"What about George?"
"George Mcfly? I mean…he's kinda cute but…I much prefer you; especially after you stood up to Biff earlier," Lorraine said inching closer to Marty with that dreamy smile of hers. Doc now was leaning against the car directly behind Marty giving him another look. Lorraine was almost completely on Marty when he spoke up again.
"Alright! Alright! Fine."
"You mean it?!" Lorraine asked.
"Y-yeah, sure."
"G-great!" Lorraine said giggling and smiling so wide.
"I'll uh…..I'll pick you up at 6:00," Marty said rubbing his neck again.
'Oh this is just wrong on so many levels,' I thought.
"Okay!" Lorraine said. "I…I guess I better be going."
"Yeah. B-bye Lorraine," he said.
"Bye," she said heading out the door.
"Lorraine!" I yelled and everyone looked at me. "So…are you still going dress shopping after school tomorrow?"
"Yeah," Lorraine said.
"Is that offer still open to going with you? I don't have money to buy a dress, but do you mind if I come anyway? We can get to know each other better," I said looking over at Doc and Marty who were both looking at me strongly.
"Of course!" she said. "Let's meet up outside of the café after school tomorrow."
"Ok! See you then!" I said.
"Bye," I said closing the door after she left. I turned back around to see Doc glaring at us.
"You pop asked your mom out to the dance, huh?" he said. Marty and I just looked at one another.
"This whole thing is heavy on so many levels," I said.
"Why are you even hanging out with Mom anyway?" Marty asked.
"I thought that I could try and figure out what Lorraine is looking for in a guy and what she sees in you besides the fact that you got hit by her dad's car. There's gotta be something," I explained.
"That's a great idea. Marty can work on getting your pop together, while you can work on your mom, Abby," Doc said.
"True. Good thinking, kid," Marty said.
Aaaaaand done! I'm really happy with this chapter and the changes made compared to the original. I'm actually giving Benjamin a small personality besides being the 'love interest' from the 50s for Abby. I'm excited about the upcoming scenes I have planned even though a few of us know what will happen at the end. I hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you soon.
