The look in Jace's eye when I introduced myself was that of happiness but loss as well. I looked into this man's face, a face that was so foreign but familiar to me at the same time. My eyes were drawn to the mark on his neck. Déjà vu hit me like a title wave. I got a flash of a glowing figure.

"What do these tattoos mean?"

I reached for his collar, moving it aside, so that I could get a better look at the tattoo on his neck. His eyes, pools of molten gold, never left my face. Once I had moved his collar away, I saw the swirls and intricately drawn lines, and something stirred in the back of my mind. My hand, acting on a mind of its own reached out to trace the lined permanently inked in to this stranger's flesh. Once my fingers touched the lines, pain shot up my arm and into my head. I jerked my hand back, and placed in on my head, stumbling to my knees.

"CLARY!" Jace cried, fear evident in his voice. I wanted to call out to him, but the pain was so intense that I felt myself go weak.

JACEPOV-

Once she touched the rune on my neck, the rune for speed, she grimaced and her hand shot to her head.

"CLARY!" I called, fear coursing through my veins. I ran to where she was kneeling, and wrapped my arm around her back. "What happened? Where does it hurt?" She didn't answer, and when her body began its descent to the concrete, I tightened the arm around her body, while the other wrapped around her torso, to keep her safe.

"Clary? Clary?!" Once she didn't answer, I whipped out my phone, and dialed a number I knew by heart. He answered on the second ring.

"Jace? What happened?"

"Alec, listen. I went to see Clary at her show, and she could see me. She touched my speed rune, and collapsed. I need you and Magnus to come to the alley behind the art gallery on 56th, and Broadway." I hung up, before he could berate me about following Clary again. Within moments I saw a portal up ahead of me Luke, Alec, Magnus, Izzy, and Simon stepped out.

"Over here!" I called, and their heads snapped to me. They all ran over.

"Lay her down." Magnus said, and I did so reluctantly. Magnus did a little flourishing, before his glowing hands began slowly, agonizingly slow, hovering down her limp body. He let his arms flutter down slowly.

"Her mind is at war with itself. There is a block in her mind, but there are memories trying to come to the surface. I can help wake her, but we will have to go to the institute. I need some ingredients." I nodded, and picked her up gingerly. We all clambered through the newly created portal, and were heading back to the institute.

I watched with a critical eye as the Herondale boy talked to the Morgenstern girl. Once she collapsed, as he was calling his brother, I quickly scanned the young woman's body. What I found would have surprised me had I been human. I watched as the warlock told the group what he had found. Once the were stepping through the portal I returned to my brothers. It was time.
