It's my birthday today, so I'll give my gift to all of you: The End :D
"What are we gonna do with him?" asked Sally.
After every Sonic had gone home, the only ones left were Sonic, Sally, and Tails but that still left another hedgehog remaining and that was Super Sonic himself who was currently peacefully sleeping on the couch of the Freedom HQ's lobby, this was the location he was staying in after everything had gone down and no one was sure as to what to do with him or how he would be sent to his home dimension. After all, they were all expecting him not to wake up under any circumstances.
But the only way for him to go back to his world required him to wake up so right now they were in a confusing and potentially scary deadlock.
"Couldn't you have wished it back to his world?" Tails asked sarcastically but also with curiosity.
"Not my priority" Sonic replied without taking his eyes off the golden hedgehog.
"Could you create a portal to his world?" Sally tried to brainstorm.
"Unlikely," said Tails "It has to be generated by an equal chaos energy".
The three of them stayed there wondering what they would do about it but the solution to the problem did not come from them. Instead, a warp ring slowly emerged in the room leaving the trio on guard but what came from it was quite a relief. It was an armored man with green boots and blue gloves, wearing a red uniform with a golden piece at the shoulders along with a very detailed helmet that covered all of his face except for his muzzle, Sonic knew exactly who he was and he couldn't be more excited.
"Zonic…" he said with a wide grin on his face as if he was waiting for him to appear "You just missed out all the fun".
"Prime," Zonic the Zone Cop replied respectfully while Sally and Tails stood there watching the two of them engage "We'll take care of Super Sonic".
From the Warp Ring, two other figures emerged, Vector the Crocodile and Espio the Chameleon wearing the same uniform Zonic was wearing, although they were Zespio and Zector respectively, also zone cops who gladly carried the sleeping combatant without saying a single word.
"That's it?" asked Sonic "First time I've seen you in months and this is how you greet?"
"We'll take this Sonic back to the zone where he belongs, you and I will be talking a lot later… And thank you for what you've done".
It was said with a very monotonous and cold voice and the newcomers left just as they arrived leaving the trio somewhat stunned at the whole ordeal.
"I guess that's taken care of," said Tails confused before going upstairs leaving Sonic and Sally alone staring at nothing but slowly at each other. Now that the couch was vacant, Sonic immediately jumped into it inviting Sally to sit next to him which she gladly did.
"So, what's next on the schedule?" she said raising her eyebrow.
"All I want for right now is to spend my time with the girl I love and get ready for whatever life throws at me next" Sonic followed her sarcasm.
"I like those plans," she dropped the sass gently resting on Sonic's shoulder. The two of them stayed there enjoying the company of each other for a couple of seconds both of them with so many things to say and so many things they wanted to do but this moment right here was too precious to let go.
"It's crazy that none of them experienced this," Sonic said out loud reminiscing about his moments with his counterparts.
"What do you mean?" the chipmunk asked.
"The other Sonics, they looked at me like crazy when I told them about you".
"Well, universes are different after all".
"Yeah and six of them didn't even know who Sally was and the one who did said he never even... considered it".
Sally sat up straight on the couch looking at him confused in realization of what Sonic was thinking about.
"Sonic".
"Sorry, sorry, these multiversal trips get pretty trippy pretty quick and you would think that-".
"Sonic," the hedgehog stopped his thought and looked at her "I'm here, I'm not going anywhere, this was weird for me too, believe me, but those and their lives, and this is ours".
She held his hand as she said this and this brought a smile to the hedgehog's face.
"You're right, sorry Sal, my head is still jumbled from all that mess".
"Yeah," Sally chuckled "Can't blame you for it, although I wouldn't mind sharing a small vacation with our doubles".
"Yeah, and great idea you had back there, I gotta say".
Sonic pulled out a photograph. Sally's idea right after their little race was nothing more than a picture, a big happy picture with all of the Sonics scattered across the couch smiling and posing for the camera each in their own style and it certainly captured the best thing to come out from all of this, what a great idea it was for sure. Prime was content by this; the multiverse was definitely in good hands and maybe there was still work to do but a breather never hurt anyone and he could rest in peace knowing that Sonic the Hedgehog was always out there.
The End. The true ending, thank you all for sticking around, and thank you for enjoying my story.
If you felt disappointed by something... believe me, I wanted to do so much more but this fic was already growing too large for its own good and my writing quality definitely evolved through the years, however, I do have planned follow-up stories that expand this little adventure into something much grander- or smaller, into their own adventures that allow for deeper exploration so stay tuned!
After all, so much has changed since 2020 when I started this fic, IDW continued, Sonic Prime came out, Sonic Frontiers is a thing, we're getting the 3rd Sonic Movie this year and so much more, of course there's room for more and I'm not gonna waste those chances.
Once again, hope you had fun reading it because I had fun writing it, and see you on the next story!
