It had been several months since Zarc had signed with the Crystal Duel Agency, and things had improved quite a bit since. He made a lot more money and he was much happier than when he had worked at his old agency. Plus, he had more duels and tournament opportunities than before. He had won two tournaments in the last four months, and the prize money, sponsors, and endorsement deals he got from his victories provided him with more than enough money to get started on building his dream home.
He wasn't quite sure he was ready to start building yet though. After all, he wasn't going to be living in it alone with his dragons now. He had four kids to think of. He needed to make sure there was nothing that could hurt them, and he also wanted to make sure the house had special rooms for his kids' interests. And right now, they were too young to decide their interests.
So for now Zarc had bought a simple three-bedroom house in the suburbs. He would build a nice big house in a few years, maybe when the babies were school-aged.
Speaking of the babies, there was quite the surprise for Zarc and his dragons one day when Zarc came into the daycare at the agency after work. One of the daycare workers saw the duelist and waved him over excitedly.
"Your babies are only four months old, right?" she asked. Zarc nodded, "Yes, why?"
"Well, little Yuya appears to be quite an early bloomer!" the daycare worker said, pointing towards the nursery. There, crawling slowly on the puzzle floor mat, was the youngest of Zarc's four children.
"Oh, oh my!" Odd-Eyes was delighted. "Our little Yuya is already crawling!"
"But the parenting books I read said that babies usually don't start crawling until they're between seven and twelve months old!" Zarc murmured. The daycare worker smiled. "Well it's rare but occasionally a baby will start crawling earlier than that."
Zarc beamed proudly as he watched Yuya crawl slowly over to him. The proud father crouched down and held his arms out to Yuya. "That's it, Yuya! Come to Daddy!" As Yuya reached his father, Zarc scooped him up and cuddled him. The tiny tomato cooed and held onto Zarc's cheeks, drooling a little.
"Oh, I'm so proud of you, Yuya!" Odd-Eyes cooed. "You're such a good crawler!"
"I wonder if the others will learn to crawl soon?" Clear Wing said. "I would love to see them all crawling around!"
"Me too!" Starve Venom said. "I can't wait for them to learn!"
Sadly, the other three babies didn't start crawling until a few months later. By then, Yuya had already learned how to stand. Zarc heard Odd-Eyes squeal from the living room one day, and rushed in to see Yuya standing for the first time, using the couch as support.
"You know, our little tomato seems to be physically gifted," Dark Rebellion said. "I wonder if that means he'll be athletically gifted too?"
"Aw, I can see that!" Odd-Eyes cooed, picking Yuya up. "Do you wanna be a lil athlete, dear? Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!" Odd-Eyes peppered Yuya's face in kisses, causing the little tomato to giggle and coo.
Zarc was so proud of his little tomato. He had a feeling Yuya really would take an interest in at least one athletic activity. The question was, which one?
