Author's note: First of all, I'm sorry to say I've lost interest writing this fic chapter by chapter.
It started with writer's block then distractions of life regarding my health, disappointed one good series didn't continue and more. Also I've gotten interested into other fandoms, however I don't wanna leave this unfinished. So I think it best to leave you an idea on how the summary for all three arcs would go.
Let's start with the rest of Arc 1.
The black rocks continued to spread in Old Corona and begun to approach the castle; Varian and his father Quirin go to talk to King Frederic. When Quirin says nothing about the rocks, Varian talks to Rapunzel who promises to help. King Frederic and Queen Ariana depart for two days for their anniversary, Corona is left to Rapunzel, even though she doesn't know anything about ruling.
Back in the Castle of the Crystal, Aughra noticed one of the books regarding the flower of the sun had a few missing pages.
On the second day, it had begun to snow much to the delight of Rapunzel and the gelfling, and to Eugene's chagrin.
Later that day, Rapunzel asked if it always snowed as much as it did that day, to which was answered by Xavier. He told those gathered in the courtyard of a legend about an evil creature called Zhan Tiri that made a winter storm so big it destroyed everything in its path. Then a Lord used magic and science to create a machine that is powerful enough to change the course of the wind back to the creature. But the curse was waiting for Corona to be at its weakest to strike again. Just when he finished telling the legend, a strong wind blew.
Now Rapunzel had to contend with a destructive snow blizzard, soon faced with gut-wrenching decisions. She heard of a legend that this catastrophic weather has to do with an ancient curse, and could mean the end of Corona. Frederic and Arianna get stuck in the snow storm and are in danger, leaving Eugene to form a search party and save them.
Meanwhile, the black spiked rocks are still multiplying and Varian must find a way to deal with them before they destroy all of Corona, while his father opposes him investigating it further. He reaches out to Rapunzel for help, but this happens at the worst time possible as she has to deal with the decision of whether to evacuate Corona or not.
The blizzard is destroyed, Rapunzel saves her loved ones and everyone arrives home safe, but Rapunzel still doubts her duties as future queen, while Varian is devastated over the imprisonment of his father.
Days later, traumatized after the previous events, Rapunzel is feeling out of sorts, even having trouble painting again.
King Frederic had opened a large art gallery on the island of Corona, and commissioned Rapunzel to design a mural for the front of it. Unfortunately the events of the blizzard have caused Rapunzel to question every decision she makes, leading to the painting equivalent of writer's block. Kira is concerned, despite Rapunzel reassuring her that she's fine.
The other members of the painting class disappear one by one to a mysterious location by the sea, apparently painting an old, withered tree.
The instructor, Mrs. Sugarby, is revealed to actually be an old witch serving Zhan Tiri, released after the use of the weather machine and wishing to release her master as well. Eugene and Cassandra and the gelfling go to rescue Rapunzel, but after they are captured, Rapunzel must finish the painting and release Zham Tiri in order to rescue them. Now understanding that "difficult decisions are what make us who we are", Rapunzel destroys the painting, trapping Zhan Tiri and the witch forever.
With Rapunzel back to herself, she develops an idea for the mural. In case her Painter's Block comes back, she has all the other painters join her.
Days afterwards, while surveying the old tunnels beneath Corona, Rapunzel and her friends uncover old journals, one detailing to what brought on the gelfling resistance centuries ago.
Remembering History lessons, Ages ago, a ship carrying human settlers had arrived to the shores of Thra. Although wary of each other, the gelfling and humans soon grew close, recognizing the similarities they shared by living together side by side. In time forming diverse kingdoms.
The journals, in question, one belonged to a Coronian Royal and the other from Corazion.
In the Corazionite's writings, they explain that centuries have passed since Mother Aughra entrusted the Crystal of Truth to the alien Skeksis, who siphoned its lifeforce to maintain eternal youth while proclaiming themselves Thra's rulers. The corrupted Dark Crystal began to cease giving its energy away, with the Skeksis emperor skekSo ordering his scientist skekTek to devise an alternative means. skekTek accidentally learned to use the Crystal to siphon other beings' essence for the Skeksis to reinvigorate themselves. Following a suggestion from skekSil, he abducted the Crystal Guard Gelfling Mira during her search for an Arathim in the catacombs, resulting in her death as the Skeksis feast on most of her essence. This act is witnessed by Mira's boyfriend Rian, and Prince Phillip, who escaped them.
Meanwhile, Princess Brea of Ha'rar uncovered a symbol after questioning the Skeksis' laws following Ha'rar's tribute to skekOk and skekLach. Princess Deet, of the Grottan Clan, is chosen by the Sanctuary Tree and embarks on a mission to save Thra from being consumed by the Darkening, the Crystal's corruption.
After the humans and gelfling successfuly beat back thr skeksis, Brea finds the lost shard of the Crystal in the Dual Glaive's broken hilt, Deet leaves the group in fear of her power. An inspired skekTek then grafts one of the dead Gruenaks with the Arathim corpse, with the Skeksis introduced to the newly animated Garthim.
When the Garthim had started to quickly wipe out the gelfling, the humans rulers of the neighboring kingdoms to Thra came together and decided they best evacuate as many gelfling possible. Their best bet was to send the survivors to other lands across the sea as their sanctuary having planned with the kingdoms there. Several ships had aided in the evacuation, where they set sail.
However the location remained a mystery.
After another nightmare about her hair, Rapunzel receives a message from Varian saying he may have solved the mystery of the rocks and needs her help finding the bronze Graphtyc. Rapunzel and her friends' journey to Old Corona, which is now overgrown by the Black Rocks. Along the way, they come across a group of masked figures who are out to stop Rapunzel from seeking the answers she wants.
Soon they reach the tower. By night, Rapunzel is still trying to figure out the mystery of the graphtyc. Noticing there is something inside it, both Rapunzel and Cassandra try to force it open. Remembering the key that came with Varian's note, Rapunzel uses it to open the graphtyc, revealing inside an ancient scroll. Just then, Eugene then spots those cloaked men outside and climbing up the tower. Rapunzel is done running, and decides to take care of them once and for all. She lets her hair down, allowing it to touch the rocks. The result triggers a shock wave, which blasts the men off the tower. However, more rocks start to rapidly sprout up the tower.
The group retreats to the roof as the tower breaks up. With nowhere to go, Rapunzel uses her hair to erect a shield around herself and the others, as they jump from the tower. They make it down safely, just as the rocks completely disintegrate the tower. The sight of it's destruction left Rapunzel in solemn tears.
Yes, she lived in it with the woman who'd kidnapped her, but she made a lot of good memories in there too, and could only salvage the slab of her taking a look at the lanterns she would see every year on her birthday.
As the sun rose that day, they discover that the cloaked men are actually the Captain and the guards. They were ordered by King Frederic to ensure Rapunzel never reassembled the scroll. She has a look at the scroll, which reveals that the rocks may have been caused by the drop of moonlight, with reference to the Sundrop Flower which came from the drop of sunlight. However, further information on the rocks is vague, since the lower portion of the scroll is missing.
Summer was fast approaching with Rapunzel's birthday, almost one year after Rapunzel discovered her past and the Healing of the Crystal.
After learning the truth, Rapunzel returns to the castle and storms into the throne room, where she confronts her father for lying to her about the Black Rocks. King Frederic explains that he was only trying to protect her and that he has the situation under control. But Rapunzel leaves the room in a huff when she learns her father doesn't think she is ready for the truth.
This had Aughra call out Frederic for his actions, warning that trying to protect Rapunzel by hiding such truths was counterproductive.
Varian comes to Rapunzel for help in finding the remnants of the mystical golden flower, which may hold the key to stopping the Black Rocks. Working together, they venture through the old tunnels beneath Corona. However, as they reach their prize, Varian betrays Rapunzel and steals the flower so he can use it to free his father. Nevertheless, his attempt fails, only for him to realize that the golden flower's healing magic now exists within Rapunzel.
Still angered and hurt about the fate of his father, Varian has now decided to do anything it takes to try to free his father—including endangering the royal family. King Frederic reveals some background on the Sundrop Flower to Rapunzel. Eugene, Cassandra, and the two gelfling join Rapunzel when she is forced by Varian to go to Old Corona.
Recalling when Frederic told her that she is connected to the rocks somehow, and Varian in one of her nightmares telling her to face her destiny, Rapunzel summons and controls the rocks to destroy the remaining automatons and defeats Varian. Afterward, the rocks break a hole in a wall that separates Corona and Thra from the outside world, and begin to lay flat to form a pathway.
Defeated and arrested for his crimes against the royal family, an unstable Varian vows to make his father proud (even he is going to die for this) as he is taken away. On Rapunzel's insistence, Frederic promises to find help for Varian, and vowing to find a way to free Quirin. Now realizing that he is wrong about the rocks being a threat to Corona, and that they are pointing her to somewhere outside of the kingdom, Frederic encourages Rapunzel to listen to her heart and follow the new path to her destiny. And should she ever feel lost, the lanterns will help her find her way back home.
With her mother's support, Eugene and Cassandra, Jen and Kira, by her side, Rapunzel intends to follow the rocks to an unknown destination.
As they watch Rapunzel step on the rocks which briefly glow a faded blue, Jen and Kira were holding the old journals they'd read about the resistance against the skeksis.
Then a breeze blew, causing a piece of paper to fly right out one of the journals.
"Oh no!" Kira is unable to grab it.
"Whoa! I got it!" Eugene jumped and caught the piece of paper before it flew away.
He then notices it's actually a larger parchment stuck together. Curious, Eugene separated them, and when he sees what it is his face breaks into an excited grin. "You have to see this!"
They all gathered to look at what he'd discovered.
It was a map: detailing the route one of the ships had taken while evacuating the gelfling survivors!
