Henry stops and looks at the man, realizing what he had just said. "It can't be.", he thinks but doesn't say anything.
-"Do you mean my mother's father?" - Alexis looks at the man, fear starting to creep up on her again.
-"Yes, my Lady. I recognized the sigil on their shoulders."
-"Thank you. Go see the healers and one of my men will come and talk to you in a few minutes." - Henry's mind is already running rampant with all that that could mean.
-"Your Majesty, he killed my father. And now he has my mother." - Fear is now in full display on Alexis' face.
-"Everything will be alright, Alexis." - Henry signals for a servant. -"Take Lady Alexis to a room, get her a hot bath, a change of clothes and some food. Alexis, I promise I will do whatever it takes to get your mother back."
Alexis nods and watches Henry nod back at her before striding away, signaling a few guards and Lords on the way.
She follows the servant, fear still gripping her tight, not really looking where she is being taken. Her mind keeps spinning with all the things that Bella's father might do to her. Alexis remembers when Bella told her what had happened to her father, once she was old enough to fully understand. She remembers being so angry at Bella's father that she renounced him for what he had put her parents through, telling her mother that she never wanted to meet him or see him. Bella told her that it was her decision and never pushed for her to try and make contact with her grandfather.
Alexis follows the servant into a room and stands in the middle of it, as tears begin to fall unchecked down her cheeks, sobs raking her body and almost making her collapse on her knees, fearful that history will repeat itself and she might end up losing her mother as well.
She feels a pair of arms wrapping themselves around her, keeping her upright, and pulling her close, a hand smoothing her hair in an attempt to comfort her. Alexis takes a few deep breaths, leaning into the comfort this person is giving her, before looking up and seeing the servant that lead her to that room. The servant wipes a few tears from her face, before speaking.
-"Everything's going to be alright."
-"How can you be so sure?" - Tears still fall, the fear still gripping her heart.
-"Because I know His Majesty will do whatever it takes to save Lady Arabella."
-"But how can you know that?"
-"Because, once upon a time, His Majesty stopped at nothing so me and my daughter could have justice."
-"You're her, aren't you? The woman King Henry helped against Lord Roberts' men?" - Her voice is soft, as a memory appears in her mind.
-"How do you know this?" - She looks softly at her, although slightly surprised.
-"I overheard a conversation between two Ladies in my Uncle's Court. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything." - Alexis pulls away.
-"It's alright. It's no secret what His Majesty did for me and my daughter. I was just surprised you knew, my Lady." - The smile on her face is soft and comforting.
-"Thank you, for helping me."
-"Are you ready for a hot bath, my Lady?"
Alexis nods, allowing the woman to help her with her clothes, thinking that she needs to trust Henry and let him do what he needs to do to bring her mother back to her. In the meantime, she will try and keep faith that everything will be alright.
