Chapter 5: There Was Trouble on Foxford Street
Snowy's Perspective
"Well this is where I used to work before I joined the band," Sam said as we walked into a restaurant in the Rainforest District called "Treetops".
"Alright," I said, "I've heard good things about this place."
"Figured it would be great to come here to celebrate our band and the future of success, as long as we don't talk to Gerald."
"I mean," Duchess said, "I've already started demoing some of the drum parts for the next EP."
"Well," Nick said, "you're already better at this than your brother. He was more of a guitar guy anyways."
"And," Judy said, "Keep Living already has a few million streams thanks to it going viral a bit recently."
"Hell yeah," Finnick said, "I'd say that this is finally worth it. Hopefully we won't become another one-hit-wonder."
"Yeah I very much hope so," I said.
We were seated at a large table, enough to hold six people, in the indoor section. I preferred this as my fur wouldn't do well in the heat, as my winter coat was growing back in. We ordered our dinner and our drinks.
"To the future of the band," Nick said, as he raised his cider for a toast.
"And our hopeful success," I said, raising my cocktail.
We drank, and eventually ate when our meals came. A few drinks later, and a fuckton of Amy Swinehouse songs over the speaker later, we found ourselves excitedly talking about planning what is next for our band.
"So," I said, "Since we've already sold out our Tundratown Palladium show, maybe we could try to get it upgraded."
"Maybe," Duchess said, "especially since I'm in the process of recording all my drum parts starting with today's recording session."
"It'll be mixed very soon," Nick said, "It'll be right on time."
"Well," Judy said, "Looks like we might want to do that upgrade."
"I mean, the Whiteout holds twice as many people," Sam said, "Why not do it there?"
"Makes sense," Finnick said, "we might even sell that out."
"That would be great," I said, "and we keep getting bigger. It would be badass if Pels Raseri goes on a massive reunion tour and we get to open."
"It very much would be."
I looked over to where the familiar voice had come from. I saw another table of six. There sat an otter, another Arctic Fox, a Moose, a Beaver, an African Painted Dog, and none other than our former bandmate Duke Weaselton.
"Wait?" I said, "Alister Otterton? You got your band back together."
"Or mostly?" Judy said.
"But, what happened to Winston?" Nick asked, "who is that new guy?"
"Well," the Painted Dog said, "I am Dani Inkentshane, originally a MASSIVE Pels Raseri fan and now one of their guitarists. I'm the newest band member."
"Very cool!" Duchess said, "wait, what happened to that Wombat dude?"
"Oh he has some shit with us," Duke replied, "he blames us for the breakup and won't admit his own insecurities."
"Yeah but now we got Dani onboard," Revi said.
"And we're already planning a reunion tour," Lizzy said
"We're thinking of doing it in stadiums," Palmer said.
"Yeah," Alister replied, "we're going to try to go for an in the round stage, like Metallicat does, and be able to play extremely packed venues. And your band is welcome to open."
"Holy shit!" I said. I couldn't believe that the biggest band in the world was about to try to get us to open for them.
"Yeah and we came here to celebrate the reformation of our band." Alister said, "this is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. You seriously can't beat the maple glazed salmon over lemon rice, with capers too."
"We all enjoyed this place actually," Duke said.
"Yeah, especially the inside part," Revi replied, "AC is good here. Outside is way too hot and humid."
"Yeah I agree with that," I replied.
"So now we both got our bands together," Alister said, "So we can hang out right in this restaurant."
"Wait," Nick said, "how did you remember all of this all of a sudden? How did you remember you were the one?"
"Well," Alister said, "It is a long story. The other night I went to sleep in my dorm room. I had a strange dream. Angus McFluff was in it, except it was all different and his armor was gold. He also wielded a sword instead of a hammer, and called himself 'Angus McSix'. A fox amazon and a skunk berserker fought by his side, against a giant Archdemon called Sheepulon. Angus McFluff, or in this case, McSix, told me to fight alongside him."
"And."
"I woke up as soon as the battle was about to commence, but then it all came back to me."
"Well," I said, "I guess that is what caused you to do that. I wonder if it means anything."
"Oh it totally does!"
We looked over as a small bat walked by.
"Tell us more," I responded.
"Well," the bat said, "I was over on Foxford Street earlier today before a big shadow came over. It was like a giant ram skeleton, and only gave off two words - 'I'm coming for all of you'."
"Oh," Alister said, "that sounds like what I had been talking about."
"Yeah," The bat said, "and then I heard a loud demonic shrieking, as this massive non-mammalian being passed over for a split second. From the very close look I got, I saw six legs, a gargantuan body, and a massive glowing horn. Like a dragon meets a beetle or whatever."
"What the hell may that have been?" I responded.
"I don't know," replied the bat, "but it didn't sound good."
WHOOSH!
We all looked up, and then looked at each other.
"What the fucking hell was that?" Nick responded, "I hope that is not what we think it is."
Before anyone could say anything else, a high pitched, evil sounding noise sounded, loud enough that my ears hurt afterwards.
"That was what I heard," said the bat, "Except now it's even louder. It seems like a giant swarm of whatever I had seen earlier."
"I'm going to look out the window," Alister said as he walked over.
"WHAT THE!"
The rest of us joined him over at the window, nervous now as to what was happening.
"Look at the sky!" Alister said, "what that bat said was completely true! It is happening!"
I looked up, and saw a massive swarm in the sky. We weren't sure what they were, but it didn't look good.
Suddenly, a large skeletal figure appeared in the sky.
"I'M FREE!" the demon shouted.
