Jared can hardly believe his eyes as he runs across the camp, towards the war tent. He knows there has to be a reasonable explanation for it, but for the life of him, he can't think of one.

He reaches the war tent and bursts in, startling Josh in the process.

-"What's wrong?"

-"There's something you need to see."

Jared walks out, Josh following him, wondering what the hell happened that made his Commander act like he just saw the devil, the real one. They walk briskly across the camp, almost to its entrance when Josh sees a group of soldiers gathered around something. No, not something, someone.

-"What's the meaning of this?" - The question more rhetorical than anything, shocked at who is standing before him. -"Get back to your posts!"

Ethan approaches Josh, fear in his eyes, and hands him a letter, quickly stepping back and standing next to his horse, his hands not letting go of the reins, as if they provided him with some sort of safety and comfort.

Josh takes the letter and opens it, recognizing immediately Bella's handwriting. As he reads the words, he is quick in recognizing the code sentences he and Jared taught her not that long ago, realizing what she scribbled on that piece of paper.

A vicious cuss word leaves his mouth, making the young boy flinch, before he passes the letter to Jared, who cusses just as viciously when he reaches the end of the letter.

-"We're running out of time." - Josh looks at Jared, before looking back at Ethan. -"You're safe here. No one will hurt you. Come on."

Josh signals for Ethan to follow, the boy reluctant to give up his horse's reins but following them nonetheless. It is clear to Josh that someone told this boy that he will be safe there and that that letter held his safety, but still, fear gripped his heart and that is something that is hard to shake.

They reach the tent and Josh knows that there's something he needs to do, something he already hates he has to.

-"Send a note to our friend telling him what's happening." - One look at Jared and the man runs out of tent. Josh then looks at the boy. -"Are you hungry or thirsty?"

-"No, thank you. I do have one more message for you, Your Majesty."

-"What's the message?" - Could this be some sort of double cross?

-"My mother asked me to tell Your Majesty that she will do everything in her power to help Arabella. All she asks in return is that I'm safe and kept away from my father."

-"Is that what you want?" - Josh sees the boy lower his eyes, his age shining through, before answering.

-"All I want is to be with my mother. I once believed what my father would tell me about my sister, but after all that my mother and Arabella have told me, I no longer believe my father wants what's best for me and my mother."

-"You were born into a complicated family, that's for sure, young Prince." - Josh lets out a sigh.

-"Is there any way you can help my mother, Your Majesty?"

-"I will do whatever I can, but I can't make any promises."

-"I understand."

The boy looks defeated as he sits on a chair in the large tent. Josh can't help but wonder how much of his father does he have in him and how much damage control has his mother done over the years for him to still care so much about her and not fight her when she decided to send him away.

"Logan has ruined enough lives. This ends now."
