Two weeks after that horrible day and Bella can still sometimes feel the arrow in her side. The healers had told her that it would take some time before the wound would be completely healed, but it's more than that. It's almost as if the arrow is still there, digging into her body deeper and deeper, and there's nothing she can do to stop it. Add to that the recurring nightmares where she can still hear Henry's scream and it all makes for a very miserable Bella.
Bella is now still remanded to her bed in the Castle, despite feeling well enough to walk around her room. Just as she is debating taking a trip to the garden, against the orders of the healers, Josh walks in, her mind completely forgetting her plan. There's something she wants more than escaping her room. She wants answers.
-"Are you here to finally tell me what the hell happened?"
-"I just came by to see how you're doing."
-"For the love of… Josh, cut the crap and just tell me what happened while I was passed out." - The man standing before her sighs, taking a seat on the bed, facing her.
-"If you really want to know, then I'll tell you."
-"Seriously? I've been asking you what happened from the moment I woke up in that war tent, so what do you think I want?"
-"Okay, if this is what you want, then…" - Josh looks at her and knows there's no point in delaying. -"After you were hit by that arrow, Henry got to you first and carried you to the healers. Once he knew you were safe with them, he made his way back to the battlefield and went straight for Logan, killing any man that would cross his path."
"I was doing the same thing, but when I realized what Henry's plan was, I decided to let Henry deal with Logan. As much as I would've loved to be the one to kill your father for all that he had done, I felt that Henry deserved to do it himself. One look at him and I knew that no matter how hard I tried to get the kill for myself, nothing was gonna stop him from getting you justice."
"What happened next I didn't witness, but some of the men told me that, before Henry could reach Logan, Alexander intercepted him. Alexander said something about Sloane, Henry's late wife, and all the men saw after that was the two of them fighting and Henry killing Alexander."
"Meanwhile, I'm fighting Logan's men and lost sight of Henry because of it. It wasn't until a while later when every men on that battlefield fell silent, that I realized that Henry had done it. He had killed Logan."
"I heard a horse approaching and turned around just in time to see Henry carrying Logan's head. He dropped it at my feet and said that you and Jensen had been avenged, before riding back to my camp, no doubt to check on you."
"When word got around that Logan was dead, his men began surrendering, even if a few still tried to fight. I left my men to deal with them and made my way back to camp. I found Henry in the healers tent, sitting by your cot, waiting for the healers to finish preparing you to be taken to my tent. The rest you know."
Bella is speechless. She already knew it had been Henry who had killed her father, but to know he had gone as far as decapitating him just to make sure she was truly safe, was beyond anything she had imagined.
-"Do you know what happened to Amara? She was at the camp with us." - Bella sees Josh smiling softly at her.
-"I sent Jared to try and find her, and bring her back to our camp so she could be with Ethan." - Bella straightens at his words.
-"Does that mean that they're okay?"
-"Not only are they okay, but they're also here and they've been waiting to see you."
-"And you're only telling me this now?"
-"They had asked me that I only ask if they could see you once you were feeling better."
-"I want to see them."
-"I'll let them know." - Josh smiles at her.
-"And Henry?"
-"He had to return to Eldanesh, but he left something for you."
Josh pulls a letter, sealed with Henry's Royal Seal, from his pocket. He has had that letter in his pocket ever since the man gave it to him, waiting for the right time to give it to her. He watches Bella taking it and looking it over, before looking up at him.
-"Did he say anything before he left?"
-"The only thing he said was that all he wanted to tell you is in that letter."
Josh stands up and makes his way to the door, giving her the privacy she undoubtedly will need to read that letter. He doesn't know what the letter contains, but he can make an educated guess that it will change Bella's life forever.
