Yugioh RWBY Chronicles
Chapter 23: A Grimm Day Part 2
When we last left off with our Grimm Trio, they were dueling against the Dragon the rules over the dark lair, Diabolos. Their fight has not been going well, as the three struggled to take on the dragon. In the end, Siren and Hidou both received an emotionless scolding from Shinrai, and now he is now offering a formal surrender for the entire team.
Turn 9: End-Phase Diabolos
Diabolos: 7450LP vs Shinrai, Hidou and Siren: 2450LP
Diabolos Hand: 0 vs Shinrai: 1, Hidou 2, Siren: 0
"THIS IS STARTING TO GET EVEN MORE ENTERTAINING FOR ME. I DIDN'T MISHEARD YOU, RIGHT?"
"Nope. I wish to have our entire team surrender the duel." Shinrai said.
Shinrai's last words had both Hidou and Siren stunned for a moment. They eventually got up, and went over to Shinrai, with Siren pushing Hidou in his wheel chair.
"Shinrai! What are you doing!?" Siren yelled.
"I'm offering surrender plea. I thought I made that clear."
"W-well. Just for yourself, right?" Hidou asked.
"No. I'm having our entire team surrender." Shinrai said bluntly.
"You can't just make a decision like that! I feel like this is something we have to decide together!" Siren said.
"Normally, you would be right. However, since this i fight, Diabolos gets to add some slight modifications. I believe he wouldn't mind a 1-vote requirement for surrendering." Shinrai then glanced at the dragon. "Would he?"
"OH, I WOULDN'T MIND AT ALL. IN FACT, LET ME MAKE IT OFFICIAL NOW. I DECLARE THAT IF THE ENEMY HAS ONE PLAYER WHO IS WILLING TO SURRENDER, THE ENTIRE TEAM SURRENDERS REGARDLESS OF THE OPINIONS OF THE OTHERS."
A black aura the pulsed through the field, indicating that the special rule was now in effect.
"You can't just do that!" Siren yelled.
"Actually, he can." Shinrai said.
"Why are you supporting him!? You're on our side!" Hidou yelled.
"I am on your side." Shinrai said.
"Then why are you surrendering!?" Siren yelled.
"Because we're not going to win. Need I remind you of the blunders you two have made?" Both Siren and Hidou went silent for a moment. "The moment Diabolos' turn ends you two will take your turns, and despite what you do, it's always to fight the other. I also have come to the logical conclusion that you two will always fight each other no matter what I say and learn nothing. Hence, surrendering now is better than dragging out a losing fight." Shinrai said.
Hidou and Siren both looked at each other. Shinrai was right about them. The two of them fighting each other has led to this point. A point where Shinrai thinks the best course of action is just to end a pointless fight. They may not stand the sight of each other, and have an intense rivalry. But if there is one thing that they do agree on is that both want to live and not die. In that moment, they both looked at each other and nodded. Hidou was the first to come up to Shinrai.
"Shinrai. Listen. We get it. Siren and I screwed it up big time! But it was mostly Si-."
Shinrai only gazed at Hidou just before the words left his mouth. "Si-, si-, si-silliness! Yeah! It was mostly silliness. Our silliness. Our dumb, stupid, silliness. Heh, heh, heh."
"Wow. Great recovery. Did you have a special file in your brain for all the du-."
Siren then noticed Shinrai's unchanging gaze, but it was a gaze that she felt pierce her soul. "Du, du, dump loads of great…um…ideas. Yeah. That are moderately, okay."
"Just, okay?" Hidou whispered.
"Okay is the best you're going to get!" Siren whispered while gritting her teeth.
Shinrai only stared at them in complete silence. His duel-disk then pulsed. "Thank you for being supportive of my decision, Jay. Now to proceed with surrendering."
"Nononononononononono!" Hidou and Siren shouted, as their words fell on deaf ears.
"VERY WELL. I HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR-."
"HOLD IT!"
A voice shouted from above, just as the duel was about to come to an abrupt close, everyone turned their heads up to see Reaper, who still suspended in air. "Don't I also get a say in this, considering my life is also on the line here?"
Shinrai thought about it. "May he speak?" he asked.
"FINE. HE MAY SPEAK."
"Can I also speak on the ground, please? I prefer to be standing with my feet if you don't mind." Reaper said, in an annoyed tone.
Diabolos only sighed. "VERY WELL. BUT NO FUNNY BUSINESS. I'M WATCHING ALL OF YOU." He then raised his palm, and lowered Reaper down to the ground in front of Shinrai, releasing him from his restraints.
Reaper then began dusting himself off, while he walked towards Shinrai.
"Something the matter, Reaper? I can sense some frustration and anger from you." Shinrai said.
"I think the correct word is peeved. Not a fan of being strung up like a fish on a hook. I wanted to duel too. Putting that aside for now, I'm also not a fan of you deciding to surrender." Reaper said.
"That makes sense. However, given the current situation, the fact remains that-."
"Hey! I not done talking yet. Look. I get it. Siren and Hidou were idiots who screwed up so badly that it resulted in this big mess." Reaper said.
"We heard that." Hidou shouted.
"He only speaks the truth." Shinrai said.
"Have you ever heard of a filter, Shinrai?" Siren asked.
"Hey! I said the exact same thing today to him." Hidou said.
"I know right. It's like every word that comes out of his mouth is a direct punch to the gut."
"More like a bullet." Hidou said.
Reaper continued ignoring the other two Grimm and continued his talk with Shinrai. "The odds of you three winning may be astronomically low, but it's not zero. There's still a chance that you three can pull off a win."
"It's highly unlikely."
"But that's the thing! You never said it was impossible. You only say stuff like little, unlikely, or small. That it means it can still happen. Shinrai. You may see things from a logical perspective due to your lack of emotions. But that lack of emotions also prevents you from looking from things from an emotional perspective. You need to have belief. A gut feeling. The belief that Hidou and Siren listened to your words, took them to heart, and have come to some kind of agreement or truce. Heck. Even have a little bit belief that they'll cooperated to the bare minimum." Reaper said.
Shinrai took a moment to think about Reaper's words. He then turned to Hidou and Siren, who were looking at him with pleading eyes, begging him to give them a second chance. He then turned Reaper. "Do you believe in the miniscule possibility that those two will willingly cooperate to the bare minimum to play effectively?"
"Huh?"
"Yes, or no? Pick one or the other."
"Uh…Y-yes. I believe in them." Reaper said firmly.
"As you are the client, it is my duty to respect your wishes. As I lack emotions, I cannot feel this belief you speak of. You're correct saying that I only see things from a logical perspective, hence negating my ability to see things on an emotional level. So, in place of belief, I'll choose to validate your own belief in Hidou and Siren. If they duel adequately within their next turns, I'll rescind the surrender. Failure to do so, I'll immediately surrender on my next turn. For now, I'll sit back and observe whether you are right or wrong." Shinrai then walked away from the field and towards his two teammates. "You will receive no help nor guidance from me. The both of you are on your own. Keep in mind that I'm watching the both you. Jay included. Always watching." Shinrai then walked past the both of them, and found a nice rock, which was conveniently shaped like a chair and sat on it, with his legs crossed and had both hands touching in front of his face, silently judging the scene.
"Can he…not look at us like that? It's like one those wide eye cats that stare into your soul." Hidou said.
"Let's just leave him be. We're already in hot water with him. I don't want to make it any hotter than it is." Siren said.
Reaper then came up from behind, right between the two, and wrapped his arms around their shoulders. "Looks like you two have your work cut out for you. I suggest you take this opportunity to right some wrongs. So, go out there, and play your best to prevent our deaths. No pressure. Okay, maybe a little bit of pressure, considering both of you are the reason we might end up kicking the bucket. Good luck." Reaper said, as he walked away and sat down next to Shinrai on another rock.
Siren and Hidou looked at each other and nodded. Siren grabbed Hidou's wheelchair normally, and pushed him towards the battle field. They stared down Diabolos, who had patiently waited for the duel to resume.
"ABOUT TIME. LET'S SEE WHAT FATE YOU TWO BRING ABOUT UPON YOURSELVES. I END MY TURN."
As nothing was sacrificed, no tokens appeared.
Turn 10: Hidou
Diabolos: 7450LP vs Shinrai, Hidou and Siren: 2250LP
Diabolos Hand: 0 vs Shinrai: 1, Hidou 1+1, Siren: 0
(Quick Note: After reading the previous chapter, I confirmed that Hidou only had 1 card, while Siren had zero in their hands during the end. It ain't easy writing duels by yourself).
To summarize the current field at the moment, Diabolos currently has three Monsters on his field; Lord of the Darkest Lair, Diabolos, Ahrima, The Wicked Warden, and Dark Grepher. He also only had one back row card. On the Grimm's side of the field, they lacked monsters, as they only had a single Nether Husk Token. As for their backrow, Diabolos only had one face-down, and the Grimm had a single face-down card and Mask of Restrict.
Hidou looked at his only card in his hand, being monster reborn. He then gulped knowing this could be his last turn. The only thing on his mind were Shinrai's words and the fact that he was watching both him and Siren intently. He took a deep breath and took his turn.
"Alright. My turn. I draw." Hidou said.
"MY CRUSH CARD VIRUS MAY NO LONGER BE IN PLAY, BUT MY ERADICATOR VIRUS IS." Diabolos said.
Hidou only scowled as he flipped his card, revealing it to be a Pot of Greed Spell card. The card then turned into a brownish rust color, and disintegrated due to the virus. "Dang it. I really needed that."
Just then, the monster reborn spell card hovered above the field. "Huh? What's going on?"
Siren only sighed. "Shinrai used Diamond Dude's effect last turn to send a Monster Reborn to the graveyard. It's currently your Standby-Phase, so you can use it. Just make you know what you're doing with it."
"Yeah, yeah. I get it." Hidou said. He then checked the graveyard, and thought about summoning Dark Armed Dragon. Unfortunately, he couldn't due to its own restrictions.
"What can I do here? I got another Monster Reborn in my hand. Maybe I can make another XYZ monster. I could use Bahamut to…no Diabolos can't be targeted by effects. Ophion maybe? That does nothing for me. I can't make Ouroboros. Maybe I could try and summon a heavy hitter. But…there's that face-down. Sure, Shinrai attacked not too long ago, but that was against a token. He could be saving that to protect himself. Arrgh. What can I do to pummel him!?" Hidou thought.
Thoughts and ideas raced through his head. He can only summon two monsters this turn with two Monster Reborn spells. The question is what helps him win the game? Taking a look at the field, and thinking back to the many times that he fell for all of Diabolos' tricks, he came to one conclusion. "I…I can't do a stinking thing. I could draw more cards with the Call of the Haunted card Shinrai set, but I could draw nothing but spells. No matter what I play, Diabolos is just going to throw it back into my face. I can feel it. Looking at his face right now, I can tell he's waiting for me to mess up. To make that stupid mistake that gets us all kill before Siren's turn starts."
Hidou's eyes then lit up as he realized that Siren's turn was up next. His turn ending wouldn't mean the end of it. He turned to see Siren, who was doing her best to keep her mouth shut by avoiding eye contact with Hidou, and a feeling of disgust boiled up inside him. He gritted his teeth, and scowled at the very thoughts in his head. The only way to win this game was to swallow his pride. Hidou then raised his hands, and slapped both sides of his cheeks really hard, making him wince.
"Tch. This. Stinks. So bad. I'll let her have the spotlight. For now." He thought to himself. "Thanks to Shinrai's Diamond Dude, I can use the monster reborn spell card he left me on his last turn. I'll use it to revive your own Lilith!"
On the Grimm's side of the field, Lady of Lament, Lilith reappeared on their side of the field.
"SO, WHAT? DID YOU FORGET THAT MASK OF RESTRICT AFFECTS BOTH PLAYERS? YOU CAN'T USE HER TO SACRIFICE A MONSTER TO SET A TRAP. TWO-THOUSAND ATTACK POINTS MAY BE HIGH ENOUGH TO DESTROY EITHER AHRIMA OR GREPHER! BUT THAT WOULD BE A MEASLY DENT FOR ME! OR DO YOU CRAVE TO DESTROY SOMETHING THAT BADLY?" Diabolos said in mocking tone.
Hidou gritted his teeth, wanting to declare an attack. He then gave himself a quick hard thump to his chest, wincing from the self-inflicted pain. "Trust me. I wish I could. But I'm switching gears, right here and right now, before my brain does something stupid. Right now, I'll use the final card in my hand. My own Monster Reborn Spell card! With it, I can revive another monster, and the monster I choose is Siren's Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring!"
On the field, a swirl of cherry blossom petals appeared on the field, as the Ash Blossom appeared on the field, giggling. A dark aura then appeared around her, changing her attribute from Fire to Dark.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring: Fire to Dark
"Now, everything is set. I overlay both Level 3 Lady of Lament, Lilith and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring!"
Both Lilith and Ash Blossom turned in pure forms of dark energy and shot up into the sky, and came back down, entering a black-hole, creating a massive explosion.
"I XYZ summon! Come forth, Rank 3! Wind-Up Zenmaines!" Hidou shouted.
From the explosion of light, a machine-colored red, yellow, purple and green appeared. It was hovering in the air, with two pincer claws attached via green energy strands to the main body. It also had many gears on its body. The monster descended onto the field and took on a defense position. A dark aura surrounded it changing its attributes as well.

"That will do. I end my turn." Hidou said.
Siren stared at Hidou with a confused look on her face. "That's it? Normally, he would try and summon the heaviest hitting monster he has. What's he planning?" She wondered.
"Hey, Hidou!" Siren shouted.
Hidou turned his head, as he rolled his eyes. "What? I'm trying to duel here."
"I can see that. I can also see you're trying to think…and…good on you for that." Siren said.
"Oh. Um…I guess I am pretty great at this thinking thing." Hidou said confidently.
"Just don't let it go to your head. Just make sure you think further down the line. Otherwise, either Shinrai is going to surrender the duel or Diabolos will reduce our life points to zilch.
"You saying I can't handle it?" Hidou asked, with a scowl on his face.
"I'm saying it because you have the capability to handle it correctly! You just need to…AGH! Forget it! Just…just do you." Siren said as she stormed off.
"Whatever." Hidou then turned back to Diabolos. "Alright, bud. Take your turn. Because I'm ready with a plan!"
Turn 11: Hidou
Diabolos: 7450LP vs Shinrai, Hidou and Siren: 2250LP
Diabolos Hand: 0+1 vs Shinrai: 1, Hidou 0, Siren: 0
"HMPH. YOU DO REALIZE THAT IF I DRAW A CARD THAT CAN DESTROY MASK OF RESTRICT, I WIN THIS DUEL. ARE YOU THAT CONFIDENT THAT I WON'T?" Diabolos asked.
Hidou smirked. "Of course, I am. I have a feeling this go well." As for what he was thinking… "Please don't draw it. Please don't draw it. Please don't draw it. Please don't draw it. Please don't draw it. Please don't draw it. PLEASE DON'T DRAW IT!"
"MY TURN…DRAW!" Diabolos looked at the card he drew, and his expression was unchanging. The card simply moved to his hand cards, and remained there.
"Heh. Luck is on my side today." Hidou said. "OH, THANK WHATEVER GOD WE GRIMM WORSHIP!"
"THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO DESTROY YOU. FOR EXAMPLE, I'LL OVERLAY LEVEL 4 AHRIMA WITH LEVEL 4 DARK GREPHER!" Diabolos said, raising his hand.
The two monsters on his field, then turned into bright rays of dark energy and shot up into the sky, and then entered a swirling galaxy in the middle of his field.
"I XYZ SUMMON! SERVE ME, RANK 4, CAIRNGORGON, ANTILUMINESCENT KNIGHT!"
Cairngorgon, Antiluminescent Knight
[Rank: 4] [Attribute: Dark]
[Rock/XYZ/Effect]
[ATK: 2450] [DEF: 1950]
On the field, a knight with broken armor appeared on the field. There were black rocks sticking out of its body, as yellow hair flow from the back of its head, and one red eye shown from the broken helmet. It's right arm, was that of a gigantic gem to smash stuff.
"NOW I MOVE TO THE BATTLE PHASE AND ATTACK WITH MYSELF! BLACK STREAM!" Diabolos yelled, as his spiritual-self unleashed a breath attack.
"I activate Zenmaines' effect! I can use an overlay unit to prevent its destruction!" Hidou shouted.
One of Zenmaines overlay units was absorbed into its body, allowing the gears to spin rapidly, as they generated a barrier, shielding him from the dragon's attack.
"THEN I'LL ATTACK WITH CARINGORGON! GEM HAMMER!" Diabolos yelled. The Broken Rock Knight let out a fierce roar, and jumped into the air, and dove towards Zenmaines with its right arm facing downward.
"Heh! I'll just use Zenmaines effect again! And then during the end-phase, I'll destroy that remaining face-down. Probably something bad for us." Hidou thought to himself. At that moment, Siren's words echoed in his head.
"Just make sure you think further down the line!"
Hidou stopped himself from reaching the remaining overlay unit. "Think further? What more is there to think about? Just use the effect and…no…Diabolos has been thinking more than me. So, maybe…" Hidou's eyes then turned to Caringorgon who was about to smash his monster into oblivion, and was getting closer by the second. "I get it now! My next move is to do…nothing!"
Hidou immediately moved his hand away from his Zenmaines card, as Caringorgon brought down it's gigantic gem arm onto Zenmaines instantly destroying the monster.
"HMM. IT SEEMS YOU CAN THINK TWO STEPS AHEAD." Diabolos said.
Hidou gave Diabolos a cocky smile in return. "I may not be a big thinker, but I am a learner. And learned that you like to flip my own moves on my head. Probably should've used that last attack on the token instead"
"PERHAPS. LET'S SEE HOW FAR YOUR THINKING WILL GET YOU. I'LL SET ONE CARD FACE-DOWN AND END MY TURN." Diabolos said.
In the back, Shinrai and Reaper were silently watching the duel unfold. "Hey, Shinrai. Why did Hidou let Zenmaines get destroyed? He had one more overlay unit remaining." Reaper asked.
"Hidou was going to use Zenmaines' other effect. At the end of the turn that it used at least one overlay unit, Zenmaines can destroy one other card on the field. However, Caringorgon has an effect which allows Diabolos to redirect any effect that targets cards on the field, to any other valid targets. Since Zenmaines' effect allows destruction on either field, Diabolos could've destroyed any other card of his choosing." Shinrai explained.
"And since it can destroy any card, Diabolos would've been able to use that effect to his advantage and destroy any card on their field. So, Hidou let the attack through, because Zenmaines can only destroy a card if it's on the field during the end phase. But why did Diabolos attack Zenmaines twice?" Reaper said.
"Probably for a future turn, where he can destroy Zenmaines in battle when it's out of Overlay units. After all, I believe he wasn't going to destroy Zenmaines with his own effect." Shinrai asked.
Reaper then looked at the cards on the field and came to same conclusion Shinrai was thinking. "Oh. I think I'm starting to get the big picture here." At the same time, Siren was stepping up to the field, with zero cards in her hand.
Turn 12: Siren
Diabolos: 7450LP vs Shinrai, Hidou and Siren: 2250LP
Diabolos Hand: 0 vs Shinrai: 1, Hidou 0, Siren: 0+1
"Alright. It's my turn now! I draw!" Siren looked at the card at her hand, and made a slight grimace. "Tch. This card is powerful, but I can't do anything with it by itself. I only have the Nether Husk token on my field. So, I can't perform a Dark-Synchro. Wait a minute. What's this face-down?" Checking it, Siren eyes widen as she turned to Hidou who looking at Siren intensely. She then figured out the reasons behind all of Hidou's last moves. Summoning a defensive monster, and then letting it get destroyed.
"Ah crud. Am I going to have owe Hidou a FAVOR!?" She thought.
Hidou then pointed his finger at her and then back at her which translated to "You owe me one."
Siren then let out a big sigh, as Malisha appeared next to her. "Come now, dear. He swallowed his pride for you. Just swallow your own, or die foolishly with it."
"I wish I could do both. Hopefully, he'll forget about it in the future. Anyways, let's see what I can do." Siren then refocused her mind on the game and took her turn. "I activate Shinrai's Call by the Haunted Trap card! Now I can revive a monster in my graveyard. I choose Destiny Hero Disk Commander!"
The Call of the Haunted trap card flipped open once again, as Disk Commander returned to the field once again. "Thanks to his effect. I can draw two cards! Alright, I can work with this. I activate the effect of Cursed Chaos Twin Reaper from my hand! If I control only Dark Attributes monsters on my field, I can perform a Dark Synchro Summon using this card in my hand and a monster on my field."
Cursed Chaos Twin Reaper

[ATK: 0] [DEF: 0]
The monster that appeared on the field was a phantom like figure with a tattered black cloak, with two long sickle like blades for arms.
"I now Dark-Tune Level 10 Twin Reaper with my Level 3 Nether-Husk Token!" The phantom the slowly approached the Monster and immediately stabbed in the back with both of its arms, piercing the rock body. A shroud of darkness then enveloped both of the monsters, as thirteen stars appeared and then six vanished. The stars turned dark and began circling the field.
"Let loose the cry of anguish and the howl of anger. Bare your fangs and claws on this world! Dark Synchro! Appear, Feral Shadow Revenant, Mindy!"
Feral Shadow Revenant, Mindy
[LV: -7] [Attribute: Dark]
[Beast-Warrior/Dark-Synchro/Effect]
[ATK: 1000] [DEF: 2900]
A pillar of darkness shot through the stars, and grew in size. On the field, Mindy appeared on the field, as she looked at her opponent with a somber look on her face. "You will vanish. I'll see it done." She said softly.
"Uh…what's with her?" Siren asked.
"Mindy has been through quite a bit. Best if you don't talk to her about it. She doesn't like it. She may seem quiet, but beneath that quite mask, is beast who wants to tear down the world. You'll see what I mean." Malisha said.
Siren only rolled her eyes at her Spirit and continued the duel. "I activate Mindy's effect. I send the top three cards of my deck to the graveyard, and activate effects based on the cards sent. For every monster card, she gains 1500 attack points. Spell cards lets me target and destroy one card on the field, while trap cards let me draw a card. Now let's see what I get!" Siren said.
She then placed her fingertips near the edge of her bracelet, generating three cards, and drew them. Looking at the cards she smiled. Letting go of the cards, they then dissipated and reformed in front of her for everyone else to see.
"The cards I got are Armageddon Knight, Double Coston, and Double Attack! That means Mindy's attack points will rise by 3000, and I get to destroy one of the cards on your field! And the card I'm choosing is that face-down!"
"HOW ARROGANT! I ACTIVATE CAIRNGORGON'S EFFECT! SINCE YOUR FERAL SHADOW IS TARGETING A SINGLE CARD, BEING MY FACE-DOWN, I CAN REMOVE AN OVERLAY UNIT TO REDIRECT IT! I'LL SHALL HAVE HIM REDIRECT IT AT HERSELF!"
"Not so fast! I play a Quick-Play Spell from my hand! Forbidden Droplet! Now by sending any number of cards from hand or field to the graveyard, I can choose that same amount of monster on your field to negate their effects and half their attack points. Since you're not targetable, I'll send Disk Commander to the graveyard to negate Cairngorgon's effect and halves his attack points." Siren said.
Forbidden Droplet
[Spell: Quick-Play]
A silver chalice then appeared over the center of the field. It tipped to the side, as a single drop fell from it and splashed on to the ground, rippling through the field. A faint glow appeared around Cairngorgon, weakening the monster.
Cairngorgon, Antiluminescent Knight: 2450ATK – 1225ATK = 1225ATK
Diabolos only scowled while Siren smirked. "Now that your hunk of rock's effect is negated, Mindy can do her things. First, her attack points rise by 1500 for every monster card that was sent to graveyard by her effect, meaning she powers up by 3000 attack points! Feral Charge!"
Mindy then took out a syringe and injected it into the armband slot on her right shoulder. After injected the serum into her body, her eyes began to glow, as her eyes turned feral. "Unleash." She said softly. A surge of energy erupted around her, transforming her. When the energy dispersed, Mindy now stood in her Were-panther form. She let out a howl and focused her eyes on her enemy.
Feral Shadow Revenant, Mindy: 1000ATK + 3000ATK = 4000ATK
"I also sent a Spell card to the graveyard, meaning that face-down is out of here!" Siren yelled.
Mindy's eyes glowed red. Within the blink of an eye, she immediately appeared in front of the face-down and slashed it with her claws, destroying it. The card was revealed to be Magic Cylinders.
Reaper who was watching in the background smiled at the current turn of events. "Well, what do you know. The trap card was Magic Cylinders. Diabolos had that set during your last turn, Shinrai, but he didn't activate it, because it wasn't worth using it on Diamond Dude, especially not to save a token."
"Yes. He was saving that for Hidou. Diabolos believed that Hidou would have acted more aggressively, and summoned the most powerful monster he could to strike the weaker targets. Had Hidou summoned a more powerful XYZ monster and attacked with it on his last turn, Diabolos would've won." Shinrai said.
"But he didn't. Hidou knew he couldn't beat him. So, he relied on Siren who was in a better position to handle the situation. Isn't that right, Hidou?" Reaper asked.
Hidou only turned his away and growled. Back to the duel, Siren was now ready to attack.
"I hope you're ready, Diabolos, because since I used Twin Reaper as Dark-Synchro material, Mindy can attack twice this turn!" Siren yelled, while Diabolos scowled. "Go! Attack Cairngorgon! Shadow Shredding!"
Mindy then moved at extreme speeds and quickly slashed through the rock knight, destroying him.
Diabolos: 7450LP – 2775LP = 4675LP
"Now for attack number two! Time for you to finally kick the bucket! Mindy attacks Diabolos! Shadow Shredding!" Siren shouted.
Mindy's eyes then turned to Diabolos, and immediately went on the offensive. She then jumped into the air, high into the sky until she was above Diabolos. She then let out a ferocious roar and dived towards Diabolos with her claws facing forward, slashing him down the middle, destroying the Dragon.
Diabolos: 4675LP – 1000LP = 3675LP
Diabolos' face remained unmoving, but he was feeling quite annoyed now.
"And that's at least half of your life points gone. We're taking control of this duel back in our hands. I'm setting one card face-down and ending my turn! In addition, when it becomes the end-phase of my turn, Mindy swaps to defense mode."
Mindy then reverted back to her human/Faunus form and assumed a defense position.
"BEFORE YOUR TURN ENDS, I ACTIVATE MY TRAP CARD! BALANCE OF JUDGEMENT! THIS CARD CAN ONLY BE ACTIVATED IF THE NUMBER OF CARDS ON MY FIELD AND HAND ARE LESS THAN THE CARDS ON YOUR FIELD. ON YOUR FIELD, YOU HAVE MASK OF RESTRICT, CALL OF THE HAUNTED, A FACE-DOWN AND ONE MONSTER. I ON THE OTHER HAND HAVE ONLY BALANCE OF JUDGEMENT ON MY FIELD. IN SHORT, I DRAW THREE CARDS." Diabolos said, as three cards appeared before him.
"What about the field spell?" Siren asked.
"IT DOESN'T COUNT AS A CARD IN PLAY. IT JUST EXISTS." Diabolos said.
"How convenient for you. Now he has more stuff to work with."
Turn 13: Diabolos
Diabolos: 3675LP vs Shinrai, Hidou and Siren: 2250LP
Diabolos Hand: 3+1 vs Shinrai: 1, Hidou 0, Siren: 0
"NOW IT IS MY TURN. I DRAW!" As Diabolos' card manifested in his hand, he smirked. "PERFECT. JUST WHAT I NEED. CURRENTLY, I HAVE MORE THAN FIVE DARK ATTRIBUTE MONSTERS IN MY GRAVEYARD. WHICH MEANS I CAN SUMMON THE DARK CREATOR FROM MY HAND TO THE FIELD IN ATTACK MODE! ARISE!"
The Dark Creator

On the field, giant deity with black wings appeared on the field, as dark lighting flashed across the dark sky.
"I ACTIVE DARK CREATOR'S ABILITY! BY REMOVING ONE DARK ATTRIBUTE MONSTER FROM MY GRAVEYARD, I CAN RESSURECT A DIFFERENT DARK ATTRIBUTE MONSTER. I'LL BANISH CAIUS THE SHADOW MONARCH FROM MY GRAVEYARD TO RESURRECT MY LILITH." Diabolos said.
Dark Energy then converged between the palms of the Dark Creator. The giant monster then unleashed the energy downward, as Lilith, Lady of Lament reappeared on the field.
"THEN I'LL PLAY THE SPELL CARD, MYSITCAL SPACE TYPHOON, AND I'LL USE IT TO DESTROY MASK OF RESTRICT!"
"Hold it right there, pal! I activate my face-down! The Quick-Play spell card Book of Moon! With it, I can target one monster on the field, and flip it into face-down defense position. I'm targeting my own monster, and you can't sacrifice a face-down monster, if the game-state doesn't know what attribute it has." Siren said.

Lunar Rays shone on Mindy, causing her to disappear and in her place, a set monster card. At the same time, Lilith also appeared back on the field.
"VERY CLEVER. NO MATTER. I SHALL PROCEED. I'LL SUMMON SANGAN TO MY FIELD. HOWEVER, HE'S MERELY FODDER. FOR I USE MY LILITH'S ABILITY! SACRIFICING SANGAN, I CAN REVEAL THREE TRAP CARDS FROM MY DECK. I REVEAL GRAVE DIGGER'S TRAP HOLE, MIRROR FORCE AND DROP OFF. NOW PICK." Diabolos said.
Sangan
[LV: 3] [Attribute: Dark]
[Fiend/Effect]
[ATK: 1000] [DEF: 600]
On the field, a small round-three-eye monster with brown fur and green limbs appeared on the field. The Lilith immediately threw out her arm, as tendrils grabbed the newly summoned monster and dragged it into the abyss.
"Geez. They all sound equally terrible. I pick the center." Siren said, as the card was immediately set onto the field.
"NOW THAT IS DONE, TWO EFFECTS GO OFF. FIRST, WHEN SANGAN IS SENT TO THE GRAVEYARD, I CAN ADD ONE MONSTER FROM MY DECK WITH 1500 OR LESS ATTACK POINTS TO MY HAND. THEN MY OWN EFFECT FROM THE GRAVYEARD TRIGGERS, ALLOWING MYSELF TO RESSURECT ONCE MORE. AS FOR THE CARD I'LL ADD, I'LL CHOOSE DARK HONEST." Diabolos said, as his Spirit manifested on the field once more.
Dark Honest
[LV: 4] [Attribute: Dark]
[Fairy/Effect]
[ATK: 1100] [DEF: 1900]
"NOW. I SHALL ATTACK YOUR FACE-DOWN MONSTER! DARK STREAM!" Diabolos' spirit reeled its head back and unleashed its breath attack. The attack enveloped Mindy in its flames, destroying her. "WITH NO MONSTERS LEFT ON YOUR FIELD, ONE ATTACK FROM THE DARK CREATOR WILL BE ENOUGH TO SECURE MY WIN." Diabolos said.
"That is true. Then that means he has to go. I activate Mindy's other effect. When destroyed by battle or card effect, I can target one monster on the field and destroy it. Also, for the rest of the turn, you can't activate effects of the destroy monster, or copies of it." Siren said.
Shadowy version of Mindy's Panther form rose from the ground, with glowing red eyes. The shadow let out a ferocious howl, and lunged towards the Dark Creator, destroying it in a massive explosion.
"WELL, PLAYED. I'LL DESTROY YOUR REMAINING MONSTER. GO, MY LILITH! ATTACK BATTLE FADER!"
(Author's Note: I forgot Battle Fader Existed at this point)
Lilith smirked evilly, as she conjured a dark orb of energy in her hand, and threw it at Siren, damaging.
"I SHALL SET ONE CARD FACE-DOWN, AND END MY TURN." Diabolos said.
Due to the effect of the field spell, a single token appeared on Diabolos' field.
Turn 14: Shinrai
Diabolos: 3650LP vs Grimm Trio: 2250LP
Diabolos Hand: 1 vs Shinrai Hand: 1+1
It was now Shinrai's turn. The emotionless Grimm just continued sitting on the rock, staring at the field. Siren and Hidou had nervous expressions on their faces, as they walked towards him.
"So, did we pass?" Hidou asked. Shinrai remained silent.
"I couldn't clinch I'm on my last turn, but I did my best and…" Siren was then interrupted by Shinrai.
"I didn't say you had to win within your turns. All said was that you had to cooperate to the bare minimum."
Hidou and Siren then looked at each other astonished and the back at Shinrai. "Does that mean…?" they both asked at the same time.
Without saying a word, Shinrai got up and walked towards the field, to face Diabolos. He then turned to Reaper. "Your faith has been rewarded."
Reaper only smirked smugly. "What can I say? Faith can defy logic."
Shinrai said nothing as he faced down the dragon. "I ASSUME YOU'RE NOT GOING TO SURRENDER?" Diabolos asked.
"No. The chances of winning have increased. So, now it's my turn. I draw." Shinrai said.
"I SEE. HOWEVER, I'LL SEAL OFF THOSE CHANCES! I ACTIVATE MY FACE-DOWN! VANITY'S EMPTINESS! NOW NEITHER OF USE CAN SPECIAL SUMMON MONSTERS!"
Vanity's Emptiness
[Trap: Continuous]
The trap card revealed itself showing a vampire unleashing a white mist and several chains. The trap emitted an aura, affecting the field.
"NOW YOU HAVE NO CHANCE OF WINNING NOW. YOU HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO USE AGAINST ME!" Diabolos yelled.
Shinrai only stared at Diabolos. "You're right. I do have nothing. Well…the concept of it anyway." He said, holding up his newly drawn card.
Everyone only looked at Shinrai with curiosity at what he meant by those words. Diabolos also felt a strange power emanating from the card, and could even feel it from where he stood.
Insert OST: SMT 5 – Eon 1
"I activate the effect of the monster I just drew. Chaos Blank Apathy – Envoy of Nothingess. By sending it and another monster card from my hand to graveyard, I can banish dark or light attribute monsters equal to the number of face-up cards on the field and negate all face-up card effects." Shinrai said, as he sent his remaining cards to the grave.
"HEH. IF ONLY YOU COULD." Diabolos said smirking.
"I'm assuming you're talking about your face-down. It's Grave Digger's Trap Hole. A card that negates the activation of monster effects from hand or graveyard, and then inflicts 2000 points of damage to the player. That won't work. If I have at least five or more dark attribute monster in my graveyard, you can't activate card effects in response to the activation or summoning of this monster." Shinrai said.
"ARRGH…CURSE YOU." Diabolos scowled.
"Currently on the field, the face-up cards are yourself, Lilith, Vanity's Emptiness, and the Call of the Haunted trap card on our field. I'll shall banish, Evilswarm Castor, Mandragora, Thunderbird and Heliotrope from the graveyard." Shinrai said.
A portal to the graveyard then appeared, as four dark flames arose. The flames then emerged together, as they collapsed upon themselves, dispersing in the air. The color of the world began to dull, as everything had a grey hue. A sudden sense of nausea overcame everyone. Siren got on one knee and held her head, while Hidou slumped back in his chair. Reaper began tapping his forehead to re-focus himself. Diabolos felt it too but wasn't that faze due to his power.
"I now activate Blank Apathy's effect from the graveyard. By banishing one Light and one Dark Attribute monster from my graveyard, I can summon him from my hand or graveyard. I banish Diamond Dude and Effect Veiler from my graveyard." Shinrai said.
Effect Veiler and Diamond Dude appeared on the field, as white light appeared behind them. The light enveloped the both of them slowly, and dropped to the ground.
"There is no joy, no sorrow, no rage, and no fear. Life will no longer have any meaning. Arise, and cleanse the world of its desires. Chaos Blank Apathy – Envoy of Nothingness." Shinrai said.
Chaos Blank Apathy – Envoy of Nothingness
[LV: 8] [Attribute: Dark]
[Grimm/Effect]
[ATK: 3000] [DEF: 2500]
White colored circle appeared on the ground. From the white ground, a monstrous hand, with sharp claws rose from the ground. Then another one, followed by two more, for a total of four white colored arms. The arms pressed themselves against the ground, as they lifted up the main body. What emerged first was a black irregular shaped skull, with two glowing red eyes and there was no mouth. The rest of the body was revealed, to be mostly colored white, with black coloring on the arms. The main chest had a black colored bone structure of a ribcage, covering the white body. Stepping out, it revealed two skinny legs with the bone color being black and the main body being white.
The creature was now visible to everyone, but the grey hue of the current environment made it hard to see most of its body, with the black bone parts and the red eyes being its most noticeable parts. It moved slowly, seemingly unmotivated to do anything. The creature then looked at Diabolos and its eyes shined brighter. Wave then pulsed from its body, as the nauseous feeling got stronger, that even Diabolos was starting to feel it more. The only one unaffected by this was Shinrai, who remained unchanged.
"W-WHAT IS THIS…CREATURE?"
The creature looked at Diabolos and spoke. "I…am nothing…Your life…is nothing…nothing but an illusion."
Diabolos only squinted at the monster, as it continued to speak. "A Beginning…begets the End. The End…begets a beginning. An endless loop. I shall turn it to nothing…for that…is why I exist…my purpose."
Diabolos was trying to make sense of what the monster was saying, but thinking was becoming increasingly difficult. It was starting to become a pain.
"The Apathy will suck the will to live. The Blank Apathy will do it much slower. For every one of our Dark Attribute Monsters that are removed from the game, all monsters on the field lose 400 attack points. The monsters that are banished, Three Destiny Heroes, Lola, four EvilSwarm monsters, and Battle Fader from its own effect. That's nine in total, meaning all monsters on your field lose 3600 attack points. Feel…nothing." Shinrai said.
Blank Apathy raised it's four hands into the air, as a strange pulse was emitted from each. The creeping white ground where it stood began to spread, as the atmosphere began to become discolored. Even the air felt stagnant.
"What the heck…is happening?" Hidou asked.
"It's…whatever that Grimm is. It's messing with our heads." Siren said.
"I've heard of a Grimm that can drain the will of others. They're called the Apathy. Weaker than most Grimm, they make up for it by making others feel apathetic." Reaper said. "This one is different though. While the effects are usually felt instantly, this one does it more slowly."
Shinrai then spoke. "The reason for that is simple. A slow build up will eventually keep piling up, until you feel nothing no longer. A blank mind within a blank space."
Darkest Diabolos, Lord of the Lair: 3000ATK – 3600ATK = 0ATK
Lilith, Lady of Lament: 2000ATK – 3600ATK = 0ATK
"THIS COLOR. IT'S MAKING ME SICK. NO MATTER. I STILL HAVE DARK HONEST IN MY HAND. IT WILL PROTECT ME FROM YOUR ATTACK."
"It won't. On the turn I use Blank Apathy's effect to negate all cards on the field, neither of us can activate set cards or cards from our hands. Empty Wail." Shinrai said.
Chaos Blank Apathy's eyes shone brighter through the grey hue as it let out an ear-piercing shriek. Everyone's minds began to feel hazier, as for Diabolos, through his eyes, he saw that his hand cards began to lose their color, and their text became illegible.
"ARRGH…THAT'S…A REALLY CHEAP TRICK." Diabolos said.
Shinrai paid no heed to Diabolos' remark, and simply stared at him, with intent to destroy. "Battle. Eliminate Lilith."
Chaos Blank Apathy stood in place as two of its four arms near its shoulder, immediately extended outward, and flew towards the Lilith. Without even reacting, Lilith was impaled from both sides, as the arms pierced the sides of her body. Her body then simply vanished. No explosion, no shattering. Just gone. Diabolos felt no pain, but his life-points still fell. Just a faint numbness.
Diabolos: 3650LP – 3000LP = 650LP
"I'M…STILL IN IT…" Diabolos muttered.
"Not for long. All affected by the Apathy shall perish. It can attack every one of your monsters whose effects are negated. End it."
This time, the Apathy sent out all four it's arms towards Diabolos' spirit. They reached towards the sky, and then divided into millions of sharp spikes. The Blank Apathy, commanded its many spikes to dive towards Diabolos, some curving around him, until he was surrounded from all sides. With its bright eyes shining in the grey-hue, the spikes immediately impaled Diabolos from all sides. The body simply faded away. A silence filled the room. A silent victory.
Diabolos: 650LP – 3000LP = 0LP
Duel Over
Winner: Grimm Trio
Victory was achieved, but the grey hue dampening the area didn't make it feel like it was. It felt hollow, with an eerie silence filling the darkness. Siren and Hidou were still feeling nauseous, while Reaper was trying to refocus himself. Diabolos remained in place, with his mind feeling hazy. No one could feel anything. On the field most of the cards in play disappeared. Expect for one. Chaos Blank Apathy remained in place on the field, not moving one inch. It only turned its head slowly, fully rotating it head 180 degrees facing Shinrai, who was unphased by everything.
"You…aren't affected?" The Apathy asked.
"No. An Apathy must drain the emotions out of other to inflict the apathetic effect. I lack the ability to feel emotions, so I cannot be mentally tired. Only physically. I do feel stiff, but that's it." Shinrai said.
The Apathy remained silent for a moment. "…Interesting…if I could smile…it would reach my ears. Until next time…existence of everything…is one step closer."
The Apathy then vanished from the field, as the color of the world returned to its natural darkness. The strange feelings that everyone felt immediately vanished, returning them too normal.
"Huh!? What was happening?" Hidou exclaimed.
"I have no idea. The last couple of minutes have been a blur." Siren said.
"I think involved the Apathy. What was Rodney thinking when making a monster like that?" Reaper said.
"Probably something along the lines of 'I am a genius. Behold the work of science-stuff and things! Hahahahaha!' Hidou said, mimicking Rodney. Siren then walked towards Hidou and slapped him across the face.
"OW! What was that for!?" Hidou exclaimed.
"Force of habit." Siren said.
The three then remember that there was a duel going on, and looked towards the field. They only saw Shinrai looking at Diabolos. Shinrai merely turned his head towards his Grimm companions and gave them a thumbs up.
"WE WON! YEAH!" Hidou yelled, raising both is hands into the air.
"You did, Shinrai! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Siren said.
Reaper only smirked at Shinrai. "Faith rewards, Shinrai. Faith rewards."
Diabolos was also starting to feel normal again, as he looked at the four Grimm. He merely scowled. "THAT MONSTER YOU PLAYED. IT WAS AN INTERESTING ONE."
"Indeed. Regardless, victory was ours. Now we must take some form of power from you." Shinrai said.
Diabolos remained silent. He raised his claw out, as a small black orb fell from it onto the ground. Shinrai went to pick it up, and saw that it was a dark gem, radiating with power.
"THAT GEM CONTAINS A PORTION OF MY POWER. NOW GO. LEAVE AND NEVER COME BACK." Diabolos said.
"Well, you heard the dragon. Let's high-tail it out of here." Hidou said.
"This is a rare instance where I agree with you." Siren said.
Siren grabbed Hidou's wheelchair, as the two immediately went in the opposite direction away from Diabolos. Reaper merely got up and walked away to follow. Shinrai turned around was about to head in the same directions.
"WAIT." Diabolos said. Shinrai stopped and turned around. "I DO NOT CARE FOR YOU. HOWEVER, LET ME LEAVE WITH A WARNING. THAT MONSTER YOU USED. IT MAY NOT FEEL ANYTHING, AND CONTROL OF IT MAY BELONG TO YOU AS OF NOW, BUT IT HAS POTENTIAL TO DESTROY YOU. TO CONSUME YOU."
"It is of no concern. I feel nothing, meaning I'm unaffected by it." Shinrai said.
"THAT MAY BE THE PROBLEM ITSELF. YOU DON'T NEED TO FEEL EMOTIONS TO DESIRE SOMETHING. ALL THAT IS NEEDED, IS THE WILL OF WANTING. FAREWELL." Diabolos said as he vanished into the darkness of the lair.
Shinrai paid no mind to the words. Jay detached himself from Shinrai's arm, and perched on his shoulder. The tiny bird stared into the darkness turning its head, paying head to the words. He chirped a couple of times to Shinrai.
"It's fine, Jay. There is no cause for concern. Powerful it may be, I doubt it can control me." Shinrai said, as he finally regrouped with Reaper, Siren and Hidou with the last two having solemn looks on their faces.
"Is something the matter?" Shinrai asked.
Hidou and Siren were silent for a moment. They at first struggled to form words, but Hidou eventually spoke up first.
"Listen, Shinrai. It isn't easy for us to apologize, since…we never had to do it before in a sincere manner. But, I'm willing to admit that…we were out of line." Hidou said.
"True. We squabbled so much, not realizing that we were putting our own wellbeing in danger. Also, it put you in danger as well, and you didn't deserve that. We're sorry." Siren said.
"My life as well, if I may add." Reaper said.
"Please don't make this more mentally difficult for us." Hidou said.
Shinrai took a moment to think about his words, as he approached his teammates. "I have no problems with the both you arguing, name-calling and occasion brawling that you two get involved with. However, I would appreciate it if you kept the squabbling out of work-related matters. Personal agendas do not belong should not be included with team focused missions. Understood?"
Siren and Hidou both nodded at the same time.
"Good. Now let's go home." Shinrai said.
"I can agree with that." Hidou said.
"Ditto. Oh, by the way, Hidou. Why do you have Wind-Up Zenmanies in your extra deck? Aren't Evilswarms mostly rank-4 based?" Siren asked.
"Well, one time I was dueling against Shinrai, and just when I was about to summon my level 4 monsters, he played Mischief of the Gnomes, which reduced the levels of every monster in my hand by 1. I didn't have a single rank-3 in my extra deck, and he ended up destroying on his next turn." Hidou said.
"Yikes. That's just mean." Siren said.
"If you're enemy seeks engage in combat, disable their ability to fight. A common but strategy." Shinrai said, as he continued walking.
Hidou and Siren only stared at their teammate in silence. "I really hope Shinrai stays on our side. He would be terrifying to fight." Siren said.
"I sure it won't come to that. I mean, why would Shinrai betray the Grimm? He's loyal to the bone." Hidou said.
"Let's not jinx it." Siren said.
(Later, at the Grimm Encampment)
The four Grimm had finally returned to the camp at Reaper's tent. Taking a step outside, they saw that there was still an ongoing warzone happening. Explosions, fires, and screaming could be heard from everywhere.
"Wow. This scavenger fight is getting a little out of hand if you ask me." Siren.
"Not for me. I enjoy a good show of violence. Although, I am curious what kind of card is enough to spark this much violence." Hidou said.
"Mmm. I say they're just fighting for the sake of it. Grimm are violent by nature, some more than others." Reaper said.
Meanwhile, Shinrai was looking the Chaos Blank Apathy card, thinking of cards that he could use that would promote synergy with it. At the same time, a Beowolf came from the side and catching his breath. He then looked over to Shinrai and the card in his hand caught his eye.
"Hey. That card…"
"Hmm?" Shinrai responded.
"That card is the main thing we had to look for! YOU HAVE THE CARD!" The Beowolf shouted.
At that moment, all of the fighting stopped. Shinrai, Hidou, Siren and Reaper could feel all the gazes of every Grimm looking straight at them, but mostly on Shinrai. Other three Grimm inched away from Shinrai to be out of the line of fire. Shinrai only looked down at the card and hummed to himself.
"I guess this means I win. Right?" Shinrai replied.
"It doesn't. You have to turn the card to Rodney first. But you get a chance to GAAAH!"
Before the Grimm could finish his sentence, Shinrai delivered a forward jab to the gut. The Beowolf then fell backwards, incapacitated by the punch. Shinrai then took the card and put into his breast pocket, while also giving it a nice pat.
"This card is extremely useful. I find it best if I keep it." Shinrai said.
There was a brief moment of silence, as Shinrai's face remained unchanged.
"GET HIM!"
All the Grimm participating in the even then began sprinting their way towards Shinrai, armed and ready.
"I suggest you the three of you to stand away. This may take a while." Shinrai said.
As he said those words, an Ursa came from the front, and attempted to slam his fists down onto Shinrai. Shinrai then jumped forward, on-top of the Ursa head, and used him as a spring board to dive right into the horde of Grimm. Despite the disadvantage in numbers, he began punching, and kicking multiple Grimm in quick succession. Due to the clustered crowd, most of the Grimm were also hurting each other, as a bunch of them were just attacking randomly. Siren and Hidou merely watched in awe at the fight.
"I'm going to make some popcorn." Siren said.
"Well make it fast. The fight might end soon at the rate Shinrai is going." Hidou said, as Shinrai made a retreat for higher ground, as he parkour his way through the camp.
"I would like to stick around, but I got to give this gem to Rodney. Have fun you two." Reaper said as he walked off.
Siren the came back with a foldable chair and bucket of popcorn. They then watched in enjoyment and excitement as Shinrai fought off the waves of enemies.
"Come on, Shinrai! Destroy them! Pulverize them!" Hidou shouted.
"The chair! Give'em the chair!" Siren shouted.
Shinrai, whether through convenience or his teammates request, grabbed a nearby metal-folding chair, and smashed it on top of the Grimm.
"YYEEEEAAAAHHH!" Siren and Hidou cheered.
(Rodney's Lab)
Reaper had just entered Rodney's lab, who was hard at work on a new project. Liege was also there as well, overseeing the project.
"Hello. We got what you asked for." Reaper said.
"Sure. Sure. Leave on the desk. I'll get to it later." Rodney said.
"Uh…okay." Reaper said, placing the gem on the desk.
"You'll have to forgive Rodney. He has recently become invested in a new project. By the way, where is the trio?" Liege asked.
"Outside, causing probably the biggest ruckus known to Grimm." Reaper said.
Curious, Liege decided to see what was going on. Upon exiting, he saw Shirnai, swinging a Beowolf by the tail in circles, Mario style, hitting all the Grimm within his radius. He was using some experimental gauntlets for the strength boost. As for Siren and Hidou, they had just opened a pair of soda cans, and clinked them together.
"I knew Shinrai was good, but dang." Liege said.
"Hey, Liege. Why did you pair those three together? Siren and Hidou constantly fight with each other, and Shinrai always has to mitigate that." Reaper asked.
"That's the thing. There's special chemistry between those three. Hidou and Siren may be always at each other's throats, but they don't work with anyone else. Hidou's cruel nature makes other hate him, while Siren cold demeanor makes it difficult for her to work with others. Those characters traits of those two collide with one another all the time. Normally, that would be disastrous, but then there is Shinrai. A Grimm without a character, without emotion and without feeling. Put him in between those two, and he filters some of the chaos." Liege said.
"Is that all? I feel those three have a special connection. Like it's been like that for a long time, despite our recent arrival here." Reaper said.
"Regardless, we should probably stop this fight, before Shinrai cripples our entire army." Liege said.
At the same time, a humanoid Grimm came crawling over from the fight, looking battered and destroyed. "I only feel…pain." He said, before falling unconscious. At the same time, Rodney came out to see Shinrai wielding a gatling gun, loaded with rubber bullets, firing into a crowd.
"Huh? I guess I better declare Shinrai the winner now." Rodney said.
"Pretty big event. But with that kind of card you made Rodney, I don't blame them for being so aggressive." Reaper said.
"Oh, I didn't make the card." Rodney said.
"Huh?"
"Yeah. One day, I was doing some inventory management the other day, and I found it laying on my desk. I don't won't remember what happened afterwards, but I decided to hold a fun scavenger hunt for fun. Never going to do it again though. Well, I got a winner to announce." Rodney said, as he quickly went over to the fight to break it up.
"If Rodney didn't make that monster, then…where did it come from?" Reaper asked himself. He then looked at Shinrai, and his eyes widen at what he saw. Although it was hard to see, he saw a faint apparition of the Chaos Blank Apathy hovering over Shinrai. The Apathy quickly turned its head towards, Reaper causing him to jump a bit. When he looked back, it was gone.
"That monster is bad news. I better keep tabs on Shinrai for now." Reaper said.
As he left to talk to Rodney, Chaos Blank Apathy reappeared above the encampment, looking down on everything. All of it…is meaningless. They shall…be my messengers."

Author's Note:
Hey everyone, Maxgundam here. Sorry about the extreme wait. I've been busy, and lazy at the same time at the same time. Also, I've been spreading Managed Democracy through the galaxy, if you get what I mean. Any who, I'm going to take a step back from a moment from this story in particular, because I have no idea what I'm doing.
When I first started writing, it was with the mindset, "I want to make team RWBY into Yugioh cards" and nothing else. As I typed more chapters, I wanted to craft a good story, that people can enjoy. However, I don't have a plan, as I've winging it this entire, time, but now, I need to think with all my braincells. I just want to finish writing this before I die. So, I need to plan character arcs, how many chapters I want to actually write, and what story beats I need to follow.
Thanks for being patient for me, and I hope to write more chapters and eventually the ending.
Have wonderful day.
