Severus had made breakfast, and once Rose had calmed down, they had sat together and ate. They explained to Rose that Xander had been arrested and that when she was ready, Severus would look at her memories. They hoped this would be enough evidence so that Rose would not have to testify. Rose went back to bed for a nap after breakfast.
'Mya, I'm going to call for Madam Pofmfrey to come now. Are you ready?' Severus asked.
Hermione nodded her head. Madam Pomfrey came through the floo into Severus' living room.
'Severus, what is going on? Are you OK? Are you hurt? Is it you, Hermione?' She asked hurriedly while looking them over. She had always been very motherly to Severus.
'No Poppy, we are quite well, sorry to worry you. Rose, however, is not.' He replied.
They sat by the fire, and Severus told Poppy what he knew and handed her the diagnostic chart. Hermione sat holding Severus' hand with silent tears rolling down her cheeks.
'Oh, Severus, Hermione.. this is awful. I've never seen this happen at hogwarts! Some sexual harassment yes but not this. How did we miss this?' She asked herself.
'I don't know Poppy. She will need healing as soon as possible. We thought you'd be the best person to ask. Rose is very against an examination. However, we have told her she needs to be healed, so she will need to have it done.' Severus told her.
'I wouldn't normally offer this, but I would be willing for Rose to be sleeping during the examination and healing process if she gives consent and we have one of you give consent and be present during.' Poppy said, looking at them with sympathy.
'I think that will make things easier for her.' Replied Hermione.Poppy got up to leave and then turned back to Hermione.
'Hermione, has she started her menstrual cycle yet? I only ask so I know whether to test for pregnancy.' She asked.
Severus felt sick. This scenario had not even crossed his mind. Rose was just a little girl.
'No, she has not, or I'm pretty sure she hasn't. Unless she hasn't told me.' Hermione said, looking worried.
'I can check during the procedure.' Then she left.
'Oh my god, Severus, this didn't even cross my mind! What if she's pregnant.' Hermione was rambling.
Severus took her hands and looked at her.
'Like you said, you don't think that's possible. If this unlikely scenario becomes a reality, we will deal with it.' He gathered her into his arms. They stood like that for a long time until they heard Rose's bedroom door open.
'Rosie, come sit. Madam Pomfrey has just left.' Hermione said as she reached for her.
'Mum, I just want to get this over with.' She sighed.
'Madam pomfrey has said she is willing to let you sleep through the procedure if that is something you're comfortable with. Your mum will stay with you.' Severus told Rose.
Rose nodded her head while looking at the floor.Hermione took Rose's hand and turned so she was facing her.
'Rosie, look at me. Have you started your period yet?' Hermione asked.
'No mum, I would have told you.' Rose replied, and her cheeks reddened.
'OK, let's get some lunch, and then we can get it over with.' Hermione replied.
Severus left them to have lunch and went into Rose's bedroom. He transfigured her bed into a medical bed with a privacy curtain. The sooner this was over with the better. After lunch, Hermione took Rose to her bedroom to change into a hospital gown. Rose was crying as she lay down on the bed. Hermione sat beside her and stroked her hair. Severus knocked on the door and came in with a strong sleeping draught.
'Here you go Rosie, you drink this, and when you wake up, this will all be over.' He said as he wiped tears from her cheeks.
'I'll be in my office if you need me.' He told Hermione and then left the room.
He sat down in the living room, trying to compose himself before heading to his office. He could hardly hold back his own tears. Just then, Poppy came through the floo. She went and sat next to Severus.
'Oh, Severus love, I will have her healed in no time.' She said, taking his hand in both of hers.
'Thank you, Poppy.' He gave her a small smile.
Poppy stood and headed for Rose's bedroom. Rose was already asleep, so Poppy got to work.
Severus had planned on marking but was too anxious. They were only in there for half an hour, but it felt much longer. He heard the bedroom door open from his office, so he got up and made his way to the living room.
'It went well, Severus. She's still sleeping. She will probably be in pain when she wakes up, but one of your pain relievers should do the trick. She should expect heavy bleeding for a few days but no more than a heavy period. She can go back to class on monday if she wants but just when she feels ready.' Poppy told him as she headed for the floo.
Severus entered the bedroom and saw Hermione sitting holding Rose's hand. He walked up behind her and slung his arms around her shoulders, hugging her.
'Do you want to levitate her and I'll put her bed back to normal?' He asked.Hermione nodded. Once they were done, they tucked the covers around Rose and sat at her bedside. Half an hour later, Rose started to wake, moaning in pain.
'Sweetheart, it's OK, it's all done. Severus has a pain reliever for you.' Hermione told her.
Severus stood up and started moving her pillows. He put his arms under hers and helped her pull herself up into a sitting position. There was a sharp intake of breath, and she started to cry.
'Ow, it hurts so bad.' Rose cried.
'Here, love, tilt your head back.' Severus said as he poured the potion into her mouth.
'Thank you, Severus.. for everything.' She said whilst holding out her arms.
'You've nothing to thank me for, Rosie.' He replied while sitting down next to her and pulling her into a hug. Hermione sat on her other side and stroked her hair. They all fell into a deep sleep cuddled up on Rose's bed.
