Castaway Island
Chapter 7: Awkward Morning
-DAY 18-
Jaune felt very well rested despite the headache he was feeling. The pounding in his head was the first thing he felt. He could hear the birds of the island awake and he was starting to wish they would have slept in. The rays of the sun were another issue.
'Guess the storm ended.' Jaune thought as he felt a weight on him. 'Did Yang cuddle up in the night?'
Then he noticed it, while they had gotten comfortable with each other in the night they didn't sleep naked. He could feel her skin pressing up against him and he didn't feel an inch of clothing, either on himself…or her.
He blinked awake as he looked down to see her cuddling up against him, he could feel her bare flesh, her bare breasts pressing up against him. Then he started to remember, being stuck in the house with the rain, the games and then the drinking. It got a little fuzzy…but yeah, he slept with her.
His heart rate skyrocketed at that point, just what had they done last night? Well of course he knew what they did, but that's not what he was thinking. He raised his free arm to his head rubbing it. That movement however was enough to nudge her awake. Her head was killing her as well, the headache was not the worst thing she ever had but it wasn't pleasant either.
She also felt a soreness between her legs she wasn't familiar with either.
"Fuck my head," Yang pushed herself up as she blinked her eyes seeing Jaune under her. He was blushing and looking down. "What?"
"Yang, clothing!" He couldn't help but stare of her bare breasts hanging down in front of him.
"Hmmm?" She looked down and her eyes widened, she was naked, he was naked. Oh god what happened last night? Then her eyes widened as she saw him completely naked under her.
"Fuck!" She quickly turned and pulled the sheet around her. Jaune quickly grabbed one of the pillows as he hid his own shame.
They were both quiet for a long moment, neither of them knowing what to say or do.
"So…last night happened." Yang eventually said.
"Yeah, yeah it did," Jaune admitted as he turned to face the other wall.
Yang couldn't believe this happened she was starting to remember most of what happened last night. Her and her idea of drinking the night away and look where it ended up. Her and Jaune literally fucking each other. She hadn't imaged her first time would be like this. Then she felt something on her thighs and looked down at the left over and crusty once fluids on them both from herself and him.
Her eyes widened as she remembered how last night had ended.
"Fuck Jaune! You came inside!" Yang looked at her sex seeing the evidence.
Jaune took a breath as he remembered he hadn't pulled out. "Oh god! I'm sorry Yang, I…I wasn't thinking, I swear if anything happens I'll own up to it and-"
Yang held up a hand in his direction. "Let me think for a second." She was trying to count the days from her last cycle. She was on day four or five, so she should be safe. "Okay I think it's a safe day."
"You think?" Jaune asked worried.
"I know!" She snapped and then sighed. "Sorry, it's just…wasn't expecting all this and the headache isn't helping."
"Yeah." Jaune nodded.
There was another moment of silence as she stood up wrapping the sheet around her. "I got to take a shower."
"I'll, uh…clean up." Jaune stated as without another word she made a beeline for the shower.
Yang closed the door and sighed as she dropped the sheet, that's another thing that could need cleaning. She could still smell some of the sex on it and the stains. With a sigh she got under the shower, the cold water hitting her. At least it wasn't ice cold water but she would love to some heated water once. There was a water heater for the homes, they found it outside but it had no power.
She did her best to clean up as she started with her body, the soap scrubbing away all the markings of having sex. She felt how tender her lower lips were but that needed to be cleaned. She felt other muscles sore from last night. Noticing a couple of love bites too. She rested her head against the tile of the shower.
"Well Yang you done it this time," She muttered to herself. Okay sure the sex had been nice it wasn't some mind-blowing sex but for a first time she felt it was decent enough. The problem was that it was because they got drunk. They weren't even a couple sure it wasn't like they had a lot of choices for a random hook up but she kind of hoped for her first time to be special. With someone she could have a memorable relationship with.
"Well…Jaune at least was a decent guy for it at any rate." She muttered washing her hair. At least it wasn't some creep she met in a bar or something. Jaune at least was a nice guy and wouldn't act like some kind of prick about it. In fact, she was sure he would be worrying about how this effected their relationship as friends just like she was.
"Okay so…I fucked Jaune, not the worse choice," she sighed the fact he got kind of hot lately was a nice point but it went more than that. Lately she had really started to open up to Jaune and felt comfortable with him. She thought again about how they hadn't been very safe last night. She was sure it was a safe day but that could also change from stress and change in diet, both things that had obviously happened.
She was pretty sure they dodged a bullet but still, she hoped she wasn't pregnant. Bringing a baby into this wasn't the best thing, they were working hard just to make sure they both survived and now adding in a delicate and defenseless little child wouldn't help with that. Granted she would step up if that did happen. She wouldn't be like Raven, she would raise any kid with the love it deserved to have from her.
Yang thought about it, Jaune was the type that wouldn't bail on her. He was very old school and would most likely want to stick around for supporting them both no matter what happened between them. That strangely gave Yang a small smile, at least knowing Jaune was a good man and would be there.
"Another point for him…god how the hell am I going to look him in the eye after this?" She sighed turning off the water. She blushed as she remembered his naked form under her as she rode him. She shook her head. "Oh boy, this isn't going to be easy."
Outside Jaune was in a fresh pair of clothing as he had gathered them up and put them in a small basket that came with the room for clothing. They weren't sure but the hotel had to have a laundry service, they just hadn't found it yet. There was still a lot they hadn't found as their exploration was limited with gathering food, supplies and other things so they didn't have all day to look around at the start.
With their food and water supply at the levels they had they might be able to start deeper explorations but that was the further thing from his mind at the moment.
He saw the bed and sighed seeing the stains and pulled off the sheet, he could go get a replacement from the building near here that had extra linens. This would have to be washed, he could still smell some of the sex coming off it. He blushed as bits and pieces were coming back through the headache. The taste of her lips, the feel of her butt in his hands, her thighs and those magnificent breasts of hers.
Jaune sighed, he really wasn't sure what was going to happen now. How do you just go on as normal after last night? Granted he figured his first time would have been with a girlfriend he never thought a drunken one-night stand with a good friend he was stuck alone on an island was even something he considered.
"Still, never thought it would someone like Yang," he muttered. He wasn't a blind man, Yang was a very beautiful woman anyone would be lucky to have her. Although he would admit they had gotten a lot closer during their time here together. He just didn't think they would have gotten that close.
He rubbed his face, he needed to do something, anything to try and take his mind off it.
Jaune got to work starting on breakfast, it was something to take his mind off things. He got some fruit and some left-over crab meat he went to cooking. He was glad he raided the spices in the kitchen at the hotel one day as it helped to make the meals a little less simplistic. He wished there was some more options but the food they had at least would keep them alive and healthy.
He heard the door open as he saw Yang walk out in one of the robes drying her long hair with a towel. They locked eyes and both of them blushed looking away.
"I nearly got this ready." Jaune stated.
"Do you want me to take over while you shower?" Yang asked.
Jaune took a whiff of himself and realized he could use it, last night have been pretty active and he smelted of it. "Uh, yeah thanks."
They switched spots as he went in. Yang sighed knowing this wasn't going to be easy. She quickly flipped the cooking meat in the pan and heard the shower go on. She put the now recooked meat on a plate and decided to change while he was busy. She quickly put on fresh underwear, hopping into some shorts and a new t-shirt. She really wished she had taken some clean clothes in with her, but she had been in a bit of a rush.
After dressing, Yang had finished preparing their morning meals just when Jaune arrived out of the bathroom. Both of them sat in silence as they ate, neither of them sure what to say about what happened.
"It's too bad no bread survived, I miss toast," Jaune said eating his meal.
"I miss bacon," Yang stated as both were looking at their plates and not each other.
"And eggs," Jaune sighed.
"Pancakes would be nice," Yang shrugged.
"God Nora would hate it here," Jaune smirked knowing that Nora would lament being stuck in a n area with no pancakes. She had dealt with it while on their journey but at every town they stopped at, in the morning she could order as much as she could to make up for it.
Yang smirked as well as she could picture it. "I'm uh, going to go to work on some stuff at the maintenance building."
"Oh sure, I got to check and make sure the storm didn't wreck the garden or anything."
The awkwardness between them started up again as the rest of breakfast was quiet after that. They cleaned up and went their separate ways. Yang took the cart to test it out and make sure the storm didn't get any water damage to anything important inside.
"Maybe we should get a tarp or something," She muttered as she drove on. Thankfully the rains weren't a storm, she found a few palm leaves had fallen but nothing to worry about. Now if a storm did show up, yeah maybe they should be prepared for that if it happens.
"Where the hell would we even set up for a storm?" Yang figured their little house had survived a lot so far but what if the roof sudden blew off or a huge one showed up? The Hotel was large but not exactly sound with the top floor a mess. They still hadn't explored above the ground floor of the hotel as they just have so much to do.
She made it to the maintenance building and started checking out the building, everything had been secured so no rain got in. A little project of hers, she was making a little trailer for the cart. Mainly it was just a wooden box that had been filled with parts that she emptied, cleaned out and then modified it. She took the wheels and axel off one of the broken carts and slapped that onto the bottom. Now she was trying to make something that could attach the to the golf cart. The problem was making something that could hook and stay secured and come off easily.
"At this this is something I can fix," Yang muttered as she looked through what she had to work with while talking to herself. "You just had to do it, you had to bring out the drinks, you had to sleep the only guy on the island who you became good friends with."
Which was true, sure she and Jaune had been friends back in Beacon but it wasn't until here that they got to be a lot closer as friends. Being forced together lead to a lot of time getting to know each other after all. It wasn't often she got comfortable around guys, mainly because most only saw her looks and didn't look past it. At least boys in her age range, she remembered how one of her old girlfriends in Signal once said it took time for boys to mature.
'Well Jaune was…okay maybe 'mature' was too much.' Yang smirked. He was still into comic books but then so was Ruby and she still played video games so who was to say what was 'mature'? At any rate Jaune looked at her as herself and not just a pretty thing.
She sighed to herself rubbing her head still feeling the hangover. "What if this screws everything up?"
Yang paused thinking about it, granted last night was a little blurry but it had been nice. She just didn't know where they stood now. Yes, she did feel close to Jaune, they had shared a lot and she felt closer to him than ever, she wouldn't argue that point. Was that one of the reasons she had slept with him? Because she felt secure that she could? What did that say about them?
The thing is, did she really want more or was this just all the pent-up stress coming out in some unpredictable way? Because let's face it, they both were under a lot of stress. Dealing with the events of Beacon hadn't been easy on anyone. Yang felt her hand tremble again as she held it tight until it went away. She hated this feeling of weakness that was inside of her, she hated how she fell into a pit of depression.
Even though she clawed her way up, she wasn't out of it. She could feel it trying to pull her back down into that void some days.
And now being stuck here with Jaune and what they did, it was a just a lot.
'I guess I need to sort out how I feel about him,' She thought as she found some bungee cables that might work, she just needed to add something to side of the box to hook them into. 'How do I feel about Jaune?'
Okay he was a nice guy, a bit of a dork but that wasn't a bad thing. He certainly had gotten a little hotter since she first met him. He had grown out a little bit, her mind flashed back to that body under her last night and the feel of him on her hand.
She flushed as she shook her head. "No, bad brain and body you're not helping. I will dunk us into the cold river if I have to."
Granted threatening herself wasn't exactly normal but this was abnormal situation. She took a breath. "Okay yes, he's kind of hot now, you can deal with that. It's just you being pent up and all the stress stuck with a nice guy that's kind of good looking. It was just the perfect storm waiting to happen."
She could see how everything set up like a row of dominos, the drinking most likely had just been the last one that pushed them all down.
"Now where do you want to take this Yang?" She asked herself getting back to work. "Do you want to continue this or pretend it never happened?"
The thing of it was, she wasn't sure.
Off with Jaune he was cleaning up a little in the garden as it looked like nothing major had happened. Some stuff got blown in and he had to chase away some small animals looking for something to eat.
"Man, I'm going to need a fence or something, wonder if Yang will want to help with that." Jaune muttered and then stopped thinking about Yang, again. Like there was anything else on his mind at the moment. He sighed as he wanted to sit down but the ground was still a little too damp for it.
"What are we going to do?" He asked himself. The whole situation they were in was bad enough but now they had to deal with complicated relationship issues on top of it all. How were they going to move forward after this? They could barely look at each other at breakfast.
"What if she hates me?" He paused to think about it, she didn't seem angry, but it could have hard to tell sometimes. Growing with a lot of women didn't make him a total expert after all in fact sometimes he felt even more clueless. He really hopes that she wasn't blaming him for how far things went, he really didn't want her to be angry. They only had each other and the thought of losing her was actually a little scary.
"You're overthinking things," He chided himself seeing that the garden looked okay he went back to the home. Since Yang was out, he was going to at least clean up. He started by putting the sheet and clothing into the hot tub turned old school washer. He poured in some cleaner they found in the Accommodations building and he got to work.
He tried to focus on the task, but it wasn't exactly mentally challenging, and his thoughts always returned to Yang. He couldn't help it, thoughts of last night kept coming back to him. He did the sheet first, scrubbing it as best he could by using a broken broom handle to swirl it around. After that he would have to ring it out and place it on the laundry line they had set up to dry.
After that it was the clothing, he would work on next.
"Look it's just laundry," Jaune told himself. "After this maybe head to the beach and try fishing or something."
"We can work this out, we can…" He stopped when he noticed that one of the items, he just picked up Yang's panties. Now they both had laundry duty multiple times by this point, they had an unspoken rule that they would see each other's underwear and they had. Jaune had seen plenty growing up but those were family members, so he just tried to think of it as like doing it back home with his sisters' underwear in the wash.
Yang had seen her dad's boxers many times as one of the household chores growing up.
This time however it was different, this still had a stain from last night from her excitement on it. He remembered seeing her take it off and how exciting it had been. He quickly threw the garment into the water and put in more clothing. He found that the last one was her bra, he swallowed as he held it. He remembered the feeling of those impressive orbs that they covered in his hands, in his mouth.
He threw it into the wash before it could bring back more memories. Although looking down at the tent he had in his pants it was already too late.
"Damn it," He muttered trying to ignore it as he got back to work. He just hoped Yang didn't come back and see him before it went away. "Not sure why I'm worried, she's seen everything."
And he saw everything she had in return he thought to himself.
"Not helping brain!" He shook his head and got back to work.
The rest of the day was just as awkward, they met up for lunch and both weren't sure of what to say or do around the other. They both tried to be polite but they both couldn't help but feel the tension in the air around both of them. They went out separately again, Yang went on a supply hunt with the new trailer she picked up as Jaune headed for the beach to gather some more food.
Both of them couldn't help but feel responsible for how things were going between them. Yang took a moment with a flashlight to head into the pharmacy store. She knew it was a long shot, but she was looking for any pregnancy tests, she just wanted to be sure that her body hadn't decided to do a completely change of her cycle on her. Unfortunately, the place didn't carry any, she wasn't surprised this was a resort and why would it need to carry that? People here were temporary after all.
"I wonder how many women got knocked up while on vacation here?" She half-joked at the thought. Given this was a resort she expected a lot of couples can through here back when it was functional. He looked around for more but didn't see much. She ended up going into the small desk at the back where usually a pharmacist would work.
She looked around and found a lot more medication, she even found some morning after pills and birth control. Taking one she looked at the expiration date and made a face. "Well, that's useless."
The meds were all expired on her she did pause seeing condoms under the counter. "Too bad we didn't know about that, if that was planned that is." She picked them up and looked them over. They were closer to being expired. Who knew they lasted for a few years? Well maybe they could still be used as long as they were careful?
She paused, what the hell was she thinking? Was she really thinking of doing it again with Jaune?
"Okay slow down," Yang told herself putting them all back. "Let's not go there."
Things were already messy, but she had to admit that Jaune wasn't a bad catch, but did they really want to start something stranded here? What if they were stuck here for years, then what? Start a family in some abandoned island in the middle of nowhere? Yeah, she wasn't on board with that, they would survive and if they had to, get themselves off the island.
Besides was it really any good to start something just because he was literally the only other person on the island? That seemed a little shallow to her. She just couldn't get her mind to settle down on why she had started thing with him last night. Was it because on the inside she was an emotional ball of stress and anxiety that she needed something else to focus on or…was it is something more?
She screamed out in frustration and punched a wall, making her fist go right through it as she pulled it back. "Maybe I should hit that gym I saw in the Recreation building and just work off this stress." Yang muttered as she started on her way out of the building. She hadn't had the chance to really use it and right now she felt like doing something was better than nothing.
Jaune was also getting frustrated both in fishing and being wrapped up in his own thoughts. He had gotten a couple of the spears that Yang had been making, the good ones from the Maintenance building, not the original ones she tried. Yang while she had gotten better at it, Jaune was finding it was like learning how to use his sword all over again.
"Maybe when we get off this island, I'll be able to use a spear," He sighed but the thought of that reminded him of Pyrrha's weapon and how it could turn into a javelin, which brought back memories of Pyrrha. That brought back depressing thoughts of how he had lost her it also reminded of him of his first ever kiss. It was the last thing she did, well before pushing him into that weapon locker and sending him away that is.
He hadn't known how she felt about him until it was too late and now, now he had done even more so with Yang. What did that make them? Sure, she was attractive, but he wasn't sure about his feelings for her, just like he wasn't sure about his feelings for Pyrrha. He hadn't even gotten a chance to before she was just gone. Now here he was on an island with Yang, but it felt like she was miles away from him.
The rest of the day went like that, with them thinking about things while keeping their distance. They met only once for lunch at the house and then it was them going to do their own things. It was long day for the two of them trying to keep busy. By the time the sun was setting and they got back to the house it was another awkward silence between them.
Oh, sure they would ask politely what the other did as usual but there was no real passion in it. Both of them tried to carry a conversation as usual but it was hard as both of them had a lot on their minds. By the time night finally came and they had to sleep, well the awkwardness went up even more.
Jaune had replaced the sheets but in the end both of them just kind of stood there looking at the bed where they had sex just the night before.
"Uh, you know," Jaune scratched the back of his head. "I could still sleep on the couch by the fireplace."
Yang shook her head. "Look that is not going to be comfortable to sleep on. We're both sober and nothing will happen again…right?"
"Right," Jaune nodded as both of them slowly looked at the bed. "Nothing will happen again,"
There was a long pause as both of them eventually managed to get into the bed.
They went to bed without a word, both of them back-to-back as they blew out the candles next to the bed tables. While the island wasn't totally silence with the distant waves of the beach just barely making it, the sounds of night creatures the silence in the small home was near deafening.
Both of them were just so unsure about things, their own feelings, their own issues and how to even more forward.
Yang found she missed Jaune's warmth that night, she wanted to just turn over and cuddle up to him like usual, but she was afraid that might send the wrong signals. She wasn't even sure what signals to send to him.
Jaune also found he missed her presence in bed, he had gotten so used to having her there against him. The feel of her soft breath, the way she could sometimes snuffle against him. She was a comfort in the night. Now here they were next to each other, but they couldn't be more apart. He was surprised by how much he missed her presence.
Closing his eyes he tried to sleep but it just felt 'wrong' in a way. He wanted to just turn over and say something, but his mind went blank. What could he say? What did he want to say to her? He just wasn't sure. Everything had been so simple and yet now they were so complicated.
TBC…
A little depressing but don't worry next chapter picks up.
