When All Was Lost...

Chapter Forty-Eight

They stood on Opposite sides, surrounded by an enraged tornado of flowers and hatred. Anger burning through it causing a cold heat that made Akarii sweat.

I have no choice...!

Akarii: 4000

Akiza: 4000

Akarii huffed as she drew from her deck.

"I play Fossil Tusker...in Attack mode!" she huffed.

ATK: 1800

DEF:0

He's not one of my zombies...

She thought to herself.

But he's got a useful ability that will hopefully help me get out of this psychic duel as soon as I can!

"Next I will place two cards face down...and end my turn."

"You better pray to to your angel Akarii Rhodes!" said Akiza, " Because unlike your zombies and undead freaks of nature, once I send you to Hell you won't be crawling back out!" she declared,"I draw!"

She glared as she looked through her hand,"I will start by activating a continuous spell known as The World Tree!" she huffed,"Next I will summon out my Gigantic Cephaiotus!"

Gigantic Cephaiotus:
ATK: 1850

DEFL 700

" Now my plant, return that rebirthed pile of bones into the earth where it belongs!"

"Not so fast!" Akarii huffed,"I activate a trap card known as Kunai with Chain." she stated,"It has a multiple effect feature where not only can it grant my monster a 500 point boost but it can also change the position of your creature from attack mode to defense mode!"

Fossil Tusker:

ATK: 2300

DEF: 0

"Hmph. How foolish." said Akiza,"You would have been better off letting me finish my attack, then you could have actually done some damage, rather than allowing me to defend my life points."

"Who's to say damage won't still be done!?" Akarii stated as she drew her card as soon as Akiza ended her turn,"You'll be in for a surprise..." she said,"Next I'll summon out Regenerating Mummy!" She said this with bated breaths. The winds were making it hard to concentrate.

Regenerating Mummy:

ATK: 1800

DEF: 1500

Akiza narrowed her eyes in a leer.

"First however, I'll attack your defending plant with my Tusker!" she stated.

"Ngh." Akiza grunted as her attack landed removing her plant successfully from the field,"What does it matter?" she huffed,"Since my monster was in defense mode I don't lose any life points!"

Akarii: 4000

Akiza: 4000-3600

"What's this!?" Akiza gasped,"Why did my life points drop? It was in defense mode!"

"See when my Tusker successfully destroys a monster in battle, its special ability takes an additional 400 life points from that monster's owner!" Akarii stated,"So even if you defend against it...you will still lose life points."

"Grrh!" Akiza growled.

"I'm not done yet!" she stated, "Now my mummy will move in on your life points!"

"Ahhhhh!" Akiza cried out as she took another 1800 points of damage.

Akarii: 4000

Akiza: 1800

"You're down to less than half now!" Akarii stated,"I'll end my turn with that."

"Fine!" she huffed as she drew,"You know...that Tusker of yours really does have a unique ability." she said,"So I think I'll take it!"

"What!?"

"I activate a spell card called Mark of The Rose." she said,"With it I am able to take control of one of your monsters whenever it's my turn." she said,"And with a unique abilty like that, I can do twice as much damage, so Fossil Tusker, come to me!" she said.

"Not likely!" Akarii growled,"I activate Raigeki break!" she said,"By discarding one card from my hand I can destroy one of yours on the field, monster, trap or spell!" she huffed,"So you can forget about stealing my monster! Say good by to Mark of the Rose!"

Akiza huffed and let out a low growl.

"Welcome back my friend..." Akarii said softly.

I had hoped to save that trap for a little later on...but in a duel against Akiza, I learned the hard way that it's best to avoid taking any damage as much as possible...

Akarii sighed.

I just wish she would listen to me...

She blinked.

But I think the only way we can talk is if I get through this duel!

"No matter!" Akiza huffed, "Since you don't want to share, I'll place a monster in defense mode, then I'll activate my field spell, Black Garden!" she huffed,"Hmph...I'll leave it at that for now..."

Akarii gulped as she drew her next card.

So far so good...

She thought to herself.

Now I just need to finish this quickly!

"Ahh!"

This trap could help!

"I'll place one card face down..." she said,"Next I will summon out Zombie Master!"

Zombie Master:

ATK: 1800

DEF: 0

"And my Zombie Master has a special ability too!" Akarii stated,"Once per turn, I can send one monster from my hand to the graveyard and special summon from either graveyard, one level 4 or below Zombie monster!" she said," And the monster I will choose is my Pyramid Turtle."

Pyramid Turtle

ATK: 1200

DEF: 1400

"What!?" Akiza gasped,"Since when was that card in your graveyard!?"

"Remember when I activated Raigeki Break?"

"...Oh...right."

She now had 4 monsters staring her down, and no way out.

This duel was as good as Akarii's.

That is if Black Garden didn't cause too much trouble, considering everytime a monster was summoned it led to a rose token on the Opponent's side of the field. So Akarii had 5 if you count the gift the field spell gave her. But She wasn't in the mood to count flowers, especially when they pop up on her side of the field.

"To ensure I have no more trouble with flowers I will activate Dust Tornado!" Akarii stated as she swept away her field spell.

"No!" Akiza called out.

"Next I'll attack your token with my Zombie Master!" Akarii stated, "Even with its attack cut in half, it's still more powerful than your token!" she stated.

"Ahh!"

Akarii: 4000

Akiza: 1800

"Then my Tusker will attack your defensive monster, granting you 400 points of damage."

Akarii: 4000

Akiza: 1400

"And since My Mummy was out before your garden was activated, his attack points weren't affected!" she stated,"Ergo this last attack will finish you!"

"Nooooo!" she cried out as Akarii finished her dance of the dead. The storm around them only raged more the stronger her emotions were.

"Akiza! Please!" she called to her old friend,"Listen to what I have to say-"

"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!" Akiza huffed,"You're a traitor!" she cried out,"You betrayed me! You betrayed Sayer! You're a traitor to the movement!"

"Akiza if we could just talk-" Akarii cried out, holding her arms protectively over herself as debris went flying in scattered directions,"You'll find that Sayer isn't as good as you believe him to be!"

"Enough of your lies!" she cried,"I don't want to hear them anymore!"

"But Akiza-"

"VANISH!"

"AHHHHHHHHHHH~!"

Akarii screamed as she was lifted through the air by Akiza's destructive winds and slammed hard against the back wall, a good distance above the ground, pinned by an invisible force while things scattered and flew at her.

Covering her body in stinging cuts, marks and bruises.

"No, Akarii-!" Akiza gasped, she seemed startled by her own power and suddenly it all stopped. Everything that was arial fell to the ground with a clatter, and her body, landing on top of the heap.

Akiza was silent.

Akarii tried to rise again but the pain over came her. She trembled as she reached out a hand toward her, trying to speak, but no voice came out.

I 'm...sorry...KiKi...

And as Akarii watched her walk away...reaching out a trembling hand...

Everything faded to black...
